Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
OTA’s are still happening. Most Vikings players are present. By all accounts, this team is more complete than any that I can remember in the last decade. I do expect big things this season, and moving forward.
NFL News
FTP
Not much else is happening. Diva QB named Rodgers has still not signed or retired. What a drama-queen. There will be some roster changes and trades at some point this month, but overall I expect things to be slow in the way of news until preseason starts.
Kirk still sucks.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Saw a snip that Jim Marshall died. It was on FB so believe what you want.
He was purty old.
87.Long hospitalization. Guess i’d say God take me. Think 270 consecutive starts should put you in HOF in itself.
It’s real.
RIP.
One of my childhood memories…..

Get ready for a media/dem meltdown.
DHS is taking the family of the Boulder suspect and putting them into the custody of ICE
But but what about due process?
That is due process if you are in the U.S. illegally.
For those interested in such things. just heard Musk just put put a blistering X post absolutely roasting the House Republicans for their lack of cuts in the Big Beautiful Bill.
Know there’s a lot of politics involved, but Musk ain’t wrong in my opinion.
Just like nobody will volunteer for a pay cut, it seems that all politicians really care about is staying in power. Doing what is right means nothing to them.
Sooner or later they will have to start selling public lands. Everyone has their hand out and no one wants their pet project to be cancelled, nor do they want to increase taxes to pay for their pet project.
Ronald Reagan was a great President turning our country around by making some tough, unpopular decisions in his first two years. Bill Clinton now looks pretty good in. history by agreeing to some extremely unpopular ( amongst his party especially) welfare and unemployment type benefits which served to balance the budget.
This group isn’t as smart as they think they are.
Sadly, Trump and Republicans are complete idiots on this issue.
Not surprised though.
2 years and 4 years from now, Repubs will be out of power and perhaps for a longtime unless they change.
If not now, when If not us, who…………….
Political courage…..?
Doesn’t exist.
I believe you and I are on the same page on this. Frankly, I feel pretty disappointed and let down the way the Republicans have handled this.
And Trump.
It’s his bill.
It’s possible the final FY2026 budget has cuts.
But I wouldn’t put too much hope in that.
Trump too for sure. And I put little hope for real budget cuts.
Five house members got their way to pass the bill, and three senators who are standing on basic republican principals are being torched.
Yay, green energy!
One of the biggest scam jobs in American history.
Greta has given up on green energy protests.
She is now headed to Gaza to protest Israel.
Got an idea what Homas would do to Greta.
This would require the woman to put in effort and initiate the conversation, that’s not in their DNA. At least in my experience.
There is actually a fair amount of wisdom in this approach.
No woman should complain how hard it is to get a guy. Especially if you are even average looking. Walk up to the guy tell them you think they are cute and ask for their number 10/10 guys will say yes, even just for the fun of it. The same can not be said if the roles are reversed, on top of being called a creep. Unless you are in the top 1% of guys, it aint happening.
Have two daughters who recently got married – over last couple of years. Also have talked with many of their friends. Now, none of these girls were looking per se to just “get” a guy.
You’re in the midwest and although I haven’t lived there for a while, there is s bit of difference some on the east coast. But maybe not anymore.
I’m not saying or explaining this very well. but there does seem to be a fair amount of what I call “Momma’s” boys out here – looking for a girl to take care of them.
The girls are just trying to find a guy where it’s 50/50.
This is one thing I’ve missed on skoloholics vs the old DN. Used to have a lot of dating discussions which as a lifer happily married guy I love to read in a vicarious fashion.
I’ve been well trained so I doubt it would take me long should the unthinkable happen to find someone else; however, I don’t think at this point in life I’m ready to deal with the inevitable annoyances and dealbreakers. Maybe Kodiak was on to something with his 20 point questionnaire.
Doubt (hope) will never have to deal with dating scene again. Besides would take an angel to deal with my many “ways” at his point in my life.
Good dog would due just fine.
Amen, you and I are on the same page. I can only imagine how my various idiosyncrasies would drive a sane woman to the brink of insanity.
A lot of good dogs would prolly turn me down, too. I better keep my hot wife that puts up with me.
There’s always small barn animals.
Thats sad. And thats definitely not me. But I see what you are saying, but I also feel like a lot of women like a project “I can fix him” and well put together guys that dont have issues or something for them to focus on fixing are not attractive. That was the case with my ex, she had all sorts of issues, I was stable, had my own house and good job, no trauma, just looking for a partner, I had nothing for her to fix so she ultimately got bored and never fully opened herself up emotionally to me, which hurt. I want give & take.
You sound and are squared away. Will make some young lady a fine husband.
Appreciate yuh
I see we’re back to the “stonks only go up” portion of the year. Bad news is good news, good news is good news, no news is good news. For all that talk about armageddon due to tariffs, I would have thought we’d have some red days now again since China and Trump are fighting. Any red days, even the ones that start at -1.50% end the day green or barely red now. Interesting market dynamics…
And stocks going up is bad because something, something, something, orange…..
Obviously only going up because of corruption and Trump helping his rich buddies.
Election coming?
So you’re one of the sharp wall street bubbas, you dump your stock, where you going to reinvest the money?
Cocaine and hookers.
Microsoft Teams is great.
I like Teams and OneDrive is awesome.
Only really old people don’t like Teams.
I am old. I still like Teams.
Excel, on the other hand. People need to stop pretending it is a database.
Agree with that!!! It is NOT a database.
I actually preferred Db IV. I did a lot of coding in that as a youngster….then MS ACCESS and visual basic…..the good old days.
Reminds me of one application I was called in to fix, as a contractor. The full time employee was in his 40s, dies in the parking ramp of a heart attack after a 12 hour day. Code was written in Quickbasic, Visual Basic 4, and C++, and MS Access was the database. With no documentation. He had started to use PowerBuilder to replace the older things, and a SQL Server db. Got it done in a couple of months, but man. What a
That one contract made me a better programmer since I leave comments all over my code, ever since working on that app. The next coder will get some laughs, as I am very specific and use adult language in my comments.
What is Microsoft Teams?
See the previous thread. This is a dig at NoDak.
I did see previous thread and Nodak’s comment, but still didn’t understand what it is.
It’s a newer way in business to communicate.
Can be instant messages. Can be video.
You can also collaborate on documents and projects better. We mainly use it for chat and meetings. It’s the replacement for Skype with better texting/messaging.
Thanks.
Thought NoDak was a CEO and as such if he didn’t like it, why did. he continue to allow its use.
It’s pretty impossible at this point to work in any business and not use Teams in some fashion.
Well I retired just few years back and didn’t use the product. Not sure if I went back tomorrow would need this product. Group chat and such is nice but only to a point.
If you ever have any type of meeting with somebody outside of your building, it is on Teams.
Some people/organizations continue to use Zoom…not sure why, I do prefer Teams for meetings….
I don’t know the last time I had to use Zoom. Probably 2 or 3 years now.
I am the CEO….only a bad CEO would forbid the use of a tool everyone else in the company likes and finds useful for increased efficiency.
I am not a bad CEO.
I was a bad CEO then. There’ what they use amongst them selves and with me. You want to talk with me, come see me, call me, or lastly send me a message. You get no answer in30 minutes, try one and two again.
I want to see people’s faces, hear the inflection in the voice, and vice versa when we discuss important matters. Many times people say they understand when you can ‘tell’ they really don’t.
Well, fact to face communications are always preferable. With so many remote employees the video conferencing that Teams provides is nice so you do get the face to face interactions.
I just don’t like its clumsy file storage structure.
I still don’t know what the hell a “channel” is….Isn’t it just a fancy name for a “folder”?
Yes.
I actually like Teams. Would be pretty hard for me to stay in touch with the mother ship without it. I am also a PowerPoint aficionado so like to share PPT’s with others in the meeting.
Kirk Cousins Potential Destinations: How Multiple Teams Are Still In Play – Yahoo Sports
Ha Ha! They list the Vikings as a possible destination…I am a Cousins fan, but there ain’t no way he is coming back. I would love to see him as the Steelers starter.
Sometimes in life strange things happen.
We have a stacked roster capable of winning SB.
Suppose after a few weeks JJ is playing poorly or even more possible has a season ending injury again. Cousins is sitting on the bench down in Atlanta. No one knows this offense, the receivers and coaches better than him.
No way – probably. But sometimes events cause a change in course.
After the 2023 QB rolodex, do you think KAM would spend big to get him?
I highly doubt KAM would do anything that costly even if JJ goes down again.
Nope. Maybe something like a 6 or 7 round pick and pick up a few million of salary.
Yep.
Only if Kirk agrees to a low salary.
It’s not about the money, but what the money represents and Kirko don’t play for backup money even if he’s the backup.
Shoot he won’t even play for starter money now.
Wouldn’t that be up for the Falcons to pay up – they are stuck for the full amount if nothing happens.
To an extent yes.
But I’m looking beyond this year.
KAM won’t give up much even it Atlanta eats all of his salary.
He doesn’t have to. Cousins is only guaranteed for this year. This would be a one year stop gap. Depending on how the year goes, play it from there.
If the Falcons trade him they would take a $12.5 mill hit this year and $25 mill hit in 2026. That is assuming a team is willing to take on the remaining $27.5 million in 2025 guaranteed salary. He is also guaranteed $10 million in 2026 with a $35 million base salary on top of that. Oh, he also has to agree to any trade because of the no trade clause.
So Falcons are on the hook no matter what and anything we give them serves to reduce the “sunk” amount?
Back to the original thought, if JJ doesn’t pan out or gets hurt again. we might offer to “help” some as it would be in our best interest also. Think this could be worked out as win/win/win for everyone under the right circumstances.
The dead hits of $12.5 and $25 are on Atlanta no matter what. The only negotiating room is the $27.5 base salary for 2025. The Falcons could offer to pay a portion of that to get a team to give up a draft pick or a higher draft pick, basically paying cash for a better draft pick a la Brock Osweiler.
Kirk said he wanted to retire a Falcon.
Don’t you believe him???
“Wanted”
He wants to retire with ESPN now, but only after swindling one last poor sucker out of way too much money.
He will try to get one more NFL contract fully guaranteed.
As long as some team is willing…….
What is it you like best about Kirko, his grilling skills, his wardrobe, his ability to panic when pressured?
His ability to drive 200 yards while backing down a 75 yard long driveway is pretty impressive. I’d like to see a video of him trying to back a boat in some day.
Would think that a guy who has thrown for nearly 45,000 passing yards and 300 TD’s did a couple of noteworthy things. But ND can provide his own thoughts. It’s a slow day.
Hang the stats banner!
Do they make a trophy for that if you, let’s say, hypothetically, have a special shelf in your house for a trophy?
I like stats and have mine framed.
When you get old enough, little trophies/certificate type stuff serve to call to mind fond memories.
I even keep an old ball glove on a shelf that I used when I was 18 years old, Have a baseball from my first no hitter.
I definitely take after my mother and she was (she is still alive but in a senior facility and no longer keeps things) a notorious hoarder so I try my best to purge stuff. Nonetheless I find myself thinking gee this pepper container would probably be good for keeping split shot in etc. for which my wife calls me “Agnes”, sweet, thanks.
My mom still had bowling trophies I received when I was six. No kidding just my stuff she had kept from birth through high school filled a pickup bed which I drove straight to the dump.
Hospital wanted pics of staff from when they were younger. Yours truly went looking and I think when we moved to Glendive from Billings I tossed everything, I couldn’t even find my high school annuals. My wife swears she has seen them somewhere but if she has it is some mysterious corner of the shouse. Guess my life started about three years ago based on any keepsakes I have around.
Oh, I’m a hoarder. I even hate to throw away an old shirt – might wear it again someday (right).
(Per my wife) I have two kinds of shirts. The first is the “that is too nice a shirt to wear while you are doing projects, save that for good”, the second is the “you have better shirts than that to wear when you are working outside, and don’t wear that shirt to town, people will think you are a pauper.”
I went the opposite way. When we cleaned out my mothers home after she passed, it made me realize my kids will not need to see any of that stuff.
I threw away everything. Trophies, medals, yearbooks going back to elementary school. Most pictures also got tossed. I took digital pics of anything I wanted to remember, threw away everything else.
My life is down to one produce box of useless things they will throw away. And a Paul Krause autographed football.
Another cool, rainy day.
I’m ready for a bit more heat. Get the corn and beans growing. We’ve been in the refrigerator for weeks now, except for Sunday and Monday.
Let’s summer it up a bit!
Send the rain over to us, please.
You want the smoke while we’re at it?
No thank you. Seems that the smoke is favoring ND and MN right now.
If professional sports, everyone looks good until the season starts
JJ is also pretty similar to Tom Brady: two arms, two legs, a nose even.
JJ definitely has a chance!
…
Regardless, I am fully on the JJ Excite Train. Might as well ride it for now!
And they both played for Michigan and Brady said JJ is the best QB to ever play for Michigan.
But can JJ hurdle a Barr?
Happy Day of rest for all except us normie folk
Sounds like every day is Tuesday now for some people, even those super team players who want to stay with their employers until they retire, supposedly.
Just a few minutes ago it was still Monday so I should still be in my jammies and asleep.
