The Minnesota Vikings are rumored to be looking for QB depth and possibly other upgrades to the team prior to the deadline. They have a ton of draft capital that they can use if they find any interesting deals. Today could be a fun day, or it could turn out to be nothing. We’ll find out in a matter of hours!
I bought this card yesterday, I thought it was a good investment, these older cards are becoming fewer and further between. Besides, hammerin’ Hank is one of the all-time greats, this was a great find, in my opinion.

Went to our local polling location to vote.
The young lady to monitored feeding our ballots into ‘The Machine’ would ask for our name after it was done. Then she would announce to the entire room ‘Jane has voted’ Or John or whatever name you gave her.
I didn’t feel the need for an announcement declined to give my name, so she announced ‘A person has voted’ to the room. Now I am wondering if some local ordinance required it but they didn’t do that last year. A recent change?

As a kid we’d use a spotlight at my Grandparents place in Cottonwood county to shoot bats at night – Grandpa had horses and didn’t want them around. We’d go out in the mornings and pick up the carcasses.
I just had to execute three bats in the garage. I hate them things so much. They give me the willies, especially if they get in the house.
My brother’s father-in-law had one in the house once that flew right at his face. He swatted it out of the air before it hit him.
Usually, they avoid a person, so then I image that one had rabies and was going in for the kill, and then I get the willies even more…

Bats eat mosquitos so it’s kind of a conundrum, I remember as a kid watching bats flying around the pole light snatching up mosquitos all night, bats have never bitten me, mosquitos do every year, bats are much creepier though

I wanted to install a bat house about 200 yards from our place, love them for mosquitoes, but my wife vetoed that project.
Yeah, I can tolerate them from a distance, but when they are up close and personal, yuck.
I was at a zoo once that had a bat room that was absolutely teeming with bats, and a guy went in to feed them. He just walked right in with bats absolutely swarming around him.
It didn’t look like any so much as brushed against him, though. He was super nonchalant about it all.
Well, in that situation I would be terrified of rabies from some random bat saliva ending up on a superficial cut. Although from time to time if I am lucky when I walk outside on a calm summer night mosquitoes and moths are attracted to the motion light and me…and bats will start flying nearby (like a couple of feet).

As you know, we bought the neighbor’s place and a couple of hundred acres. We would like to fix up the newer home into a guest cabin of sorts. Maybe let short time locums hospital workers stay there from time to time. Bones are good, just needs some updating. A lot of our ideas are simple cosmetic things that are easy for me to do, like painting, cutting and installing new trim/baseboards, upgrading plumbing and light fixtures and the like. We pulled up all the old carpet that was glued down, so some of the more labor intensive tasks would include putting down new flooring (not hard but time consuming), ripping out the old shower and putting in a new modernized rustic shower, putting in a wall in the basement to hide the plumbing. None of it needs to be done immediately, but one starts thinking about how many free weekend days it will take…
The old farmhouse we plan to dig a big pit in a nearby field and have someone use a trackhoe to demo and drop the house into the pit…burn it and bury it. We had the power, gas, and electric disconnected so the last step was capping off the sewer. After the game on Sunday I headed down there with a sawzall, shovel, some lights, and 4″ cap. Pitch dark in this musty dirt basement with ancient floor acting as the 4 foot ceiling. I crouched like a goblin in the corner and methodically cut down all the pipes coming from above and then started digging into the wall to open up a place to glue the cap. Dust everywhere cough cough spider webs could hear mice running on the floor joists and a big piece of loose concrete weighing about 200 pounds that the former owners must have tossed into the excavation for the sewer pipe came crashing down, just missed the crouching goblin’s feet. That really threw up the dust but I successfully cut the main pipe, got a little sewer water on my face, and capped it off.
Come out of there covered with dirt and dust, blacker than a well digger’s ass, headed back home and stripped down in the driveway, went straight into the shower and my wife pointed out that she had sent me several texts asking if I was okay (phone was in my back pocket but I was crouched in such an uncomfortable posture I couldn’t reach it). Told her it was not a lot of fun and I didn’t want to reminisce about the spiders and mice that were crawling around in the gloom and dust. Also told her that piece of concrete that fell scared me, it could have landed on me.
We were walking this morning and she said let’s just hire people to do the flooring and bathroom redo. You make good $$$ and why work like a dog and possibly get hurt in your free time. Hard to argue with that.

My stepson knows a guy that has the necessary equipment to do the demo and interest in doing it this fall (before the ground freezes). That guy is planning on coming this week to check it out and give us a quote. I wanted to have the sewer capped before he came in case he is able to squeeze the project in this week. I would say in Glendive atm getting a plumber out to do such a project would be a 3-4 week wait, minimum.
Everyone is aware that putting a cap on a PVC pipe is mindless and just involves putting on some purple primer followed by PVC glue and then pushing on the cap. The unpleasant part was exposing the pipe, and I just had to put myself in the mindset of spiders ok dust ok mice ok. One of the many projects that once you start acquiring tools are simple to do…would have been a bear prior to having a battery powered sawzall.

Yeah, my wife found some cool pics on pinterest of a corrugated aluminum surround in a shower with galvanized pipe, etc…looks a hundred years old but modern fixtures. I farking hate those plastic built in shower surrounds, my showers at the home place are tile.

Have an upstairs to a 40’x 28′ garage. Oldest daughter and husband approached me last March inquiring if her husband and I can finish it and they move in up there. I started going to town, wife approached me and said she would work one year past planned retirement age if we didn’t have to do it. She knows what it takes. We built a 3000 sq ft house, the garage, and a quonset hut. I thought about it for a week and hired it out. Guys ghosted me for a few months due to losing workers but now nearing completion. With new septic, appliances, new water line from existing well, total redo of electricity etc near six figure$. Was not planning on that. Also, the guys are much more skilled than I am. We still painted and put down flooring. Oh well, eventually we will VRBO it.

Might be the only thing. Every time I’ve watched the Cowboys defense this year it’s been real rough (for them, not me, I love it).
I haven’t done any research regarding the salary allocations for the Cowboys….but I wonder if part of the reason their defense sucks is because they are paying a mediocre QB 60 million a year.

Dak’s cap hit this year is about 50 mill. Next year it is $74, $68 in 2027, and $78 in 2028. Dead hits are $180 mill in this year, $130 mill in 2026, $56 mill in 2027 and $32 mill in 2028. Talk about a bad contract. A good chunk of the next three years is in base salary so it could be restructured, but that would only push those hits into the future.
I am really looking forward to Sunday’s game, even if I doubt I can watch all of it. I don’t even mind if we lose and JJ throws five INTs, as long as the team and KOC don’t appear actively retarded throughout.

I saw a comment on Twitter that 12% of McCarthy’s throws Sunday were labeled as “hero” throws by someone, and that was the highest rate of any QB this week. I did the math though, and I don’t know how that works out. McCarthy only completed 14 passes in the whole game for 144 yards, and 12% of 14 is 1.68. No idea what this stat was on about.

Commifornia floated the idea of an ‘Exit Tax’ to get something out of those businesses fleeing the state.
It only made them flee faster so they could be gone before the policy could be put into place.
They’ll just make it retro-active.
Suspect that they would have to get it past the Supreme Court to tax businesses that are no longer in the state.
