Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
There’s a lot of buzz about the Vikings OTAs, been seeing lots of stuff on YouTube & elsewhere about it. I know that most of it doesn’t mean much, but it is nice to see all the veterans showing up to help out their new quarterback. The team is a tight-knit group, mainly due to the leadership of Kevin O’Connell and his staff, and the solid roster built by Kwesi-Adofo Mensah and his staff. The team is set to be a contender this year, and I cannot wait to see them in action. We’re definitely planning a trip to training camp.
Sad to hear that Jim Marshall passed away. He lived a full life, but I would have liked to have seen him get a Hall of Fame induction while he was alive. Now they’ll offer the meaningless gesture of a posthumous entry. Dude was an ironman and tough as nails, his streak is almost unthinkable for a guy playing the position he played. He was thought of in the highest regard by his teammates and coaches, a true class act.

Sad news as Vikings legend Jim Marshall passed away at the age of 87, details from the USA Today.

From the Sporting News, they give Rick Spielman credit for one of the worst moves in the past decade for the trade he made for QB Sam Bradford in 2015. Congrats, Rick!
The Star-Tribune thinks rotational duties will be key for the Vikings revamped defensive line.
NFL News
At MSN, a Broncos beat writer isn’t really buying the Russel Wilson cheerleader-style perseason hype. He saw the same talk in Denver & also saw the actual production on the field, and he wasn’t impressed.
\NFL lineman Steve Wright passed away at the age of 82, per MSN. Wright was the model for the Walter Payton Man of the Year trophy, although he wasn’t as funny as the comedian Steven Wright.

Speaking of Steven Wright, here he is. Enjoy!

- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

By the way, in out time warp. if today is Tuesday and time has been known to drag on here, what day is tomorrow?
The 1st Day of the rest of your life???
1 day closer to death…
Not if the Admin’s say it’s Tuesday again. We can all live forever.
December
Interesting…
Kfey, don’t forget to pre-order.
Lol!!! Oh yeah, gonna get right on that
Oh God the Twins have a home series on 6/6 is TC the Pedo bear gonna be all rainbowed out?
Barring injury, I would guess they all beat the numbers here.
But but butt…we were trying to sign Waaron Rodgers! Now you’re telling me JJ is projected to throw more TDs than Caleb “the Savior” Williams??!!
Clickbait often confuses as few, if any, facts are used.
Who’s the runt in the picture?
Sam Howell I think? Also Donte looks like he ate Sam Howell
He won’t be able to see over the LOC. Doesn’t matter, not playing anyway. And oh yea, Dante doesn’t appear to push away from the. dinner table vwey quickly.
Speculation is Rodgers is waiting to see/hoping to see JJ get hurt in Minicamp so he can come play for us.
God no. Just no
Packers legend Aaron Rodgers may quietly be waiting for former first round QB’s setback, says ESPN insider | Sporting News
I’d categorize it more like Aaron Rodgers may quietly be waiting for a starting QB injury. Why not? He won’t sign with anyone until training camp starts at the earliest. Might as well keep options open.
That’s Kirks plan as well……..
God no. Just no.
My day was bad enough. Why do you feel the need to make me want to throw up on top of it all?
I know it doesn’t mean much for JJ to be killing it at OTAs, but remember the last two years how all the talk was about Caleb Williams, being unable to hit his receivers with no one covering them.
And the articles I’m seeing about the Bears during OTAs is Ben Johnson trying to address Caleb’s attitude issues and DJ Moore’s body language issues. 😂
The biggest attitude change needed is making Williams want to play for the Bears and not the Vikings.
Could be a tall order for BJ.
They’re saying the same thing again this year, sounds like he sucks in OTAs again.
Teams just saved me a whole bunch of work you old fogies. Being able to simply share a screen with the government overlords actually made things easier. They may be tracking my every move now though.
I just got done with a Teams thingy as well.
Not much document activity this time, but it works pretty smoothly.
Yeah and I love using it for quick screen sharing.
I’m on Teams right now, multitasking is awesome.
I do have to keep my ears open for my name being called.
You are a master just like Jeffery Toobin……
Boy you’ve got a lot to learn. Just tell your EA to take care of it, hardly any work at all.
EA?
Executive Assistant.
Teams has replaced that position.
Can it get coffee and get rid of petty calls for you.
Or give you a BJ while you are on a phone call??
No?
My executive assistants won’t do that either.
Well I was trained well (in the old days) always hire a good looking one.
Oh, we’re too small for that, or maybe that’s just me and that’s why I’m dealing with this crap.
Well you’re an Admin here. I figured EA’s came with the position.
If so, I need to have a conversation with GF.
Oh, thought keeping their EA happy was to taxing for Lifer and Ben causing them to leave. If you have a very attractive one, there is a bit of maintenance.
If so, I wasn’t informed. As for my actual job I go back and forth between saying I’m an overpaid babysitter and the company’s fall guy.
I hate scammers. This whole enterprise of pretending to be someone via email in order to scam them out of money is so tiring.
Someone used my name and sent it to my colleague. The email address wasn’t mine, of course, but my colleague didn’t see it at first.
Lowlifes.
The Scammer Payback videos are pretty fun on the YouTube.
Very true. Seem to always originate from a particular part of the world too…
And every one of them yells “F*&% your mother” when they realize they’ve been hacked themselves.
I love those, hilarious
In the past I have gotten e-mails from my own account when someone hacked my e-mail and sent out Spam/Scams.
I now log out of e-mail anytime I am going to be away from the computer, seems to have solved the problem. #knockonwood
Yeah most of the time scammers don’t even try to hack anymore. No need when people don’t look at the email address anyway. Just make a fake email address, input someone else’s name, and you get a good return on the limited time invested.
If there is any doubt about if an e-mail is valid or not I check the address.
That removes whatever doubt that there is.
Exactly. Sadly lots of people (elderly especially) don’t realize that.
I swear if could find someone trying to scam me i’d shoot the SOB.
FTP!
Email addresses can be spoofed too. We’ve had it happen so the address actually looks right.
Yeesh. Didn’t realize that. That was always my comfort. How do they spoof that if they don’t hack the email account?
If you want to save big cash on your monthly utilities, please post your social security number, bank routing and account numbers.
You can trust me. I swear.
If you had as much money in your bank account as your social security number, how much money would you have in your bank account?
If you had all the money you, and your employee match, have paid in with a modest 4% return, you’d have a fair amount of money.
That would make too much sense for a government program.
Besides, you are not smart enough to manage your money.
i know enough to not give it away to people who put nothing in.
And I believe even a C student could figure out if you have more people taking money out than ones putting it in, you’re going to have a problem.
$400,000,000 range.
I need more specifics.

Well shit….in addition to building a wall on our easter edge to keep the crazy ass liberal Minnesotans out, now we have to start building a wall on our western edge….
WTF Montanna????
Missoula approves pride flag as official city flag in opposition of new law
Yeah Boise did the same thing.
Idaho State Law prohibits flying any flag other than Official Flags so 6 of 10
‘Counselpersons’ voted in the ‘pride flag’ so that the city can fly it this month. So very sad.
That’s the northwest part of the state, basically Idaho, and we don’t consider Missoula part of Montana.
Missoula is granola country…fern bars and armpit hair.
Sounds lovely….
Interestingly enough I have had two of the only lamprey like encounters of my life in Missoula when in town for state conventions in my lab tech days. First time, a grad student at U of M for some reason thought I was the finest two stepper in the world and was constantly interrupting my visit with colleagues at a table to dance with her, then when I left (had an early morning lecture to attend) about midnight she begged me to stay and dance some more, she wasn’t ready for me to go. Second time I was engaged and let it be known immediately, but a nurse jammed herself in between me and my colleagues at a fern bar, and then a while later when I mentioned I liked jazz she told me there was a jazz performance somewhere else. Walked down there and imagine my surprise when someone showed up. Gave me a jump hug when I left, thought she was going to stalk me on the walk back to my hotel.
“I’m a doctor.” -MT in a bar
Had to look up ‘fern bars’.
Am familiar with Granola being from SoCal, Granola-made from fruits, nuts and flakes.
Get over yourself, your kids mental illness/ teenager “trying to find their way” phase of life should not impact shit like this. Thats a personal thing not a local Government thing. Man this stuff is annoying.
HB 819’s sponsor, State Rep. Braxton Mitchell (R-Columbia Falls), sent NBC Montana the following statement on the resolution, saying the legislature could amend the legislation in the upcoming session.
Nailed it
Almost missed it,
Too PHAT.
Game 1 of the SCF tonight in Edmonton.
LFG Oilers!
Go Panthers!
The two strongest teams meet in the end. Gonna be a great series.
Of even more interest an ‘All Texas’ Women’s NCAA Softball Championship Series starts today. University of Texas vs Texas Tech.
That’s pretty cool. Minnesota can’t even get an all women’s women’s softball championship.
And the regular seasons #1 Team, Texas A&M has already been eliminated.
@yeah, congrats@
I can root for the Oilers.
Florida is not really a hockey state imo…
That fact two of them died in 4 years is wild. Is this a new curse?
Which means…….a trade will happen !!!!!!!!!!
I feel that the Vikings would be more interested if he were cheaper.
KAM is not going to ‘break the bank’* for him either in trade compensation or salary.
*pun intended
Yeah. Not likely, but a post June 1 trade is cheaper for Miami to get rid of him.
So ‘Possible but not Probable’?
So yesterday when I logged in there was no Tuesday Tread. So I commented on Mondays along with a few other people. Then it got quiet, felt like a weekend tread.
A little while later I went to the Gym and then came home and showered. Got back on the computer and refreshed the page I had left up and no new comments had been posted for several hours. So eventually I checked the front page and found that a Tuesday Thread had been posted and over 100 comments made while I was sitting in Mondays old thread. No comments were posted on the Tuesday Tread once I found it, so I was on another dead thread.
So I was irritated of course. But I couldn’t decide if I was irritated that no one posted on the current thread when a new thread was up as has been the norm or that I was irritated that I was so stupid that I spend most of the day refreshing a dead thread before checking for a new one.
You would think that I was used to doing stupid things by now.
No worries.
My mom called me at 4am yesterday thinking she had a Dr’s appointment scheduled for Midnight and missed it.
So you are saying in is an ‘Old Age’ issue?
That would actually make me feel better than just being stupid.
I earned that ‘old age’ after all.
I look at it this way. When I retired I stopped wearing a watch so I wasn’t run by time of day ( to many scheduled meetings). Now coming here I’m no longer tied to day of week.
Hell, cave men didn’t know the day of the week.
‘Hell, cave men didn’t know the day of the week’
Heck, the concept of a ‘Week’ had not even evolved then.
So this site is actually becoming retro and turning back time.
Great, now I will have that song stuck in my head all day. @Thanks@
Filmed on the USS Missouri including several 100s of Sailor Crewmen.
Cool!
Just before we left DC saw her live at the Casino in Maryland. Even at her age, she’s still got it and puts on a hell of a show.
Part of the show they have Sunny on the screen singing his part of the many songs they had together.
Her wardrobe is truly unbelievable.
She sure can sing.
Too many surgeries has messed up her face unfortunately.
Just try to shower at least once every five days. I know older retired folks who don’t work and get out of their scheduled routines forget to shower….
It rains a lot in Florida, we just take many walks.
With all that humidity do you even need rain??
The rain washes off the sweat from the humidity.
And yes we have serious humidity.
After visiting Houston The Teacher eliminated the entire SouthEast part of country from consideration for a retirement location due to the humiditys effect (especially on her hair).
Having been stationed in Ft Hood and Ft McClellan I already knew to avoid humidity whenever possible.
I personally think the Tuesday schtick is amusing and unique thing to this forum.
I don’t want a second crazy ex girlfriend day this week.
Agreed
idk if the whole tuesday thing was a joke but it was NOT a funny a funny joke and i had to do a quadruple take on what day it actually was.
hey Jacksonvike, happy anniverary to you and mrs jacksonvike!!
Thank you, it has been 30 years.
Congratulations! What’s your secret?
You have to let the little woman know that the man is in charge. Keep her under your thumb, she exists to serve you and bring you happiness, that is her natural function – she will achieve contentment in her naturally subservient role.
Me Tarzan, you Jane.
On Saturday I had to laugh (internally of course). Slept in, had a nice leisurely breakfast, walked the dog. Wife asked me my plans, I’m gonna go shadow the beekeeper from 11 til 1…before that I’ll switch out the GFCI on the irrigation pump. She asks/tells me the priority when I get back from learning about the birds and the bees I need to mow…things were definitely getting long and ratty in the grass and weeds.
Fired up the riding mower and did the easy flat portion of our yard in about an hour. Hooked up the trail mower to the little tractor and went out and mowed the ditches, took about 45 minutes. Started mowing the hilly parts of the yard with the belly mower on the little tractor, got a flat tire on the front. Tried to fix it with green slime but it wouldn’t hold…the fix a flat process took a good 45 minutes. Next I had the not so bright idea to use the rotary mower hooked to the bigger tractor and due to an installer (me) error the bushings holding the pins in the iMatch fell off and after a couple of passes the deck fell off…I didn’t know what happened so I rehooked it up, only to have it fall off again. Switched to the riding mower which took forever to mow the remaining two acres.
Come in the house at 6:30 hot sweaty dusty and thirsty as heck. Wife was very very quiet, never a good sign. Suffice to say I work all the time she has to live alone I guess what kind of nincompoop tries to use a 6 foot rotary mower to mow a yard.
Ran to the hardware store to get a part for the pump, made an egg salad sandwich when I got back home, drank a gallon of water, showered, and was on the couch to watch a movie by 7:30. Took an hour before the feet snuck over for a rub.
Sunday morning we were back in love again.
Can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em.
Nothing like when a 2 hour ends up taking 5 hours…..but hey, she shouldn’t have been upset with you – she is the one who told you that you had to mow.
That’s what I thought…sometimes she builds up a head of steam but once the feet sneak over you know the storm has passed.
My secret is to be just ugly enough that the wifey likes you but too ugly for attractive young women to hit on you.
That is a good run!
Congrats !
We Just celebrated 29 years this past Sunday.
Congrats!
And a very happy anniversary to you and Mrs. Freezy.
RIP
270 straight starts for a D-lineman is crazy.
Farves 297 (or 299, I have seen both listed) is impressive but less so due to the physicality difference in the two positions.
IMHO of course.
The most best-est Wednesday Gif.
Rec for you Sir.
One Tuesday was enough this week. I’ll take Wednesday, please.
It’s Wednesday, and that’s about all I got. It’s the silly season for Vikings topics.
Brad, you are working too hard or something.
Today is Hump Day!
