Vikings Discussion & Sports Talk

Man, journalists are getting so bored that one of them actually wrote a piece saying that J.J. McCarthy is going to lose the starting job to Sam Howell prior to the season. Those words were actually written by someone who is an actual journalist. I suppose Justin Jefferson is also going to lose his starting job to Lucky Jackson prior to the season. I’m not going to link the article up here because I don’t want to help generate clicks for them.

In other news, the Baltimore Ravens released Justin Tucker. Tucker was Deshaun Watson before Deshaun Watson was Deshaun Watson, allegedly sexually assaulting massage therapists since 2012. Funny, these issues were known to the team going back to 2012, yet they didn’t make any move to do anything with Tucker until he started missing kicks last year. @I’m sure it’s just a coincidence@.

Random Thoughts

They had a social at the school yesterday, they had all the kids’ art hanging for we parents to look at. Here’s kiddo’s picture (circled in red); American flag background, saluting, and wearing a fishing t-shirt. I had no input, I didn’t know anything about it until I saw it last night, I’m very proud. Awesome job, kiddo!

Vikings News

Vikings.com gives you five things to know about 6th round draft pick, Kobe King. They also posted the Monday Morning Mailbag.

NFL News

ESPN shows you what happens at NFL rookie minicamps.

From Newsweek, President Donald Trump announced that the 2027 NFL Draft will be held in Washington D.C.

As mentioned above, the Ravens released K Justin Tucker, per NFL.com.

Also at NFL.com, the Rams and Matthew Stafford agreed to terms for a contract that pays the QB $44 million for the 2025 season.

CBS Sports looks at the Steelers’ top QB options if Rodgers does not play for them in 2025. I figured Kirk Cousins would be on that list, but no. There is, however, one current Viking QB and another past Viking QB on the list.

Media Selection

Bowbunch told me about this, I follow The Fat Electrician & he’s a part of this group. I’m sickened by the Buffalo school district, this needs to be exposed as much as possible.

Early on Wednesday, India announced it had launched a military operation against Pakistan, hitting โ€œterrorist infrastructureโ€ in both Pakistan and Pakistan Kashmir. The Indian government said that in total, nine sites were struck. The strikes come amid a significant escalation of tensions between the two neighbors. Pakistan vowed to launch retaliatory strikes on India.

Indiaโ€™s Ministry of Defense said the actions follow the terrorist attack in Pahalgam last month, where 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national were killed. The ministry pointed to the massacre of tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir as the catalyst for the current response.

A terrorist attack was launched against India a week or so ago. They said those terrorists were aligned with Pakistan and this was in retaliation for that.
They go thru this every couple of years, this one seems to be worse than usual. We will have to watch to see if it mostly ‘saber rattling’ or if it morphs into something much more.

Apparently some folks spotted Aaron Rodgers at the Kentucky Derby wearing a wedding ring. So now they are wondering if he just got hitched? They’re also wondering if this was one of the reasons he hasn’t signed with the Steelers yet, and why the Steelers don’t seemed concerned with him not signing yet.

The Supreme Court gave the Trump administration another victory today, as it upheld its ban on transgender people serving in the military.

Trump issued an executive order on January 27 prohibiting trans-identified individuals from serving in the US military. The order argued that there were serious concerns over unit cohesion, mental and physical readiness, and the impact on military efficacy. Of course, liberal critics claim the order unfairly discriminates against trans-identified people.

It’s important to note the Supreme Courtโ€™s order only places a stay on a preliminary injunction that a lower court imposed against the policy. The stay will remain in effect until the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rules on the White Houseโ€™s appeal of the lower courtโ€™s order.

This is confusing to me, legally, because I’m not a lawyer. It went to the Supreme Court who issued a stay, till another court rules? OK.

The case did not go to Supreme court, only the injunction. The Supreme Court simply said the injunction was void and has not ruled on the actual case.

Christ, is everything Trump does going to end up in the courts. He ran on a group of actions and was elected by a majority to enact those actions. But now our Judges are going to decide what’s to be done. They were not elected by anyone.
If we the people can’t decide on matters to be done, then. we’re hardly a democracy.
And besides, there isn’t a judge in this country qualified to say whether a trans is capable of being a military member – they have no idea.

I have known a few military members who decided to transition from males to females, including one I served with in special forces. This guy was 6’2″ tall, and after he transitioned (on the taxpayers dime) he wasn’t what anyone would call “attractive”. Many years later I heard he transitioned back, but have no direct knowledge of that. Also, I have no idea how that is even possible. Anyway, he was miserable, depressed, and just a complete mental case. Each of the three members I knew who transitioned had the same problems.

People with gender dysphoria are unhappy, depressed, and emotionally unstable. They are not good for a military unit. Their issues and very presence cause a massive ripple effect in unit cohesiveness, morale, and of course readiness.

In the profession of arms it is unrealistic to pretend they are normal.

They deny people with all types of similar problems from serving in the Military. It is only because this is a ‘hot button issue’ that it has become a court case.

Actually good for body and mind to take days off. Do you work 7 days a week? Do you take vacations? Those days off refresh the mind, at minimum, and with a taxing physical job like football players have, it is helpful to rest (and tend to family matters). I am with Kirk on this one.

Jro can speak for himself but don’t believe that was his point at all (recall your strawman point from several days back).
A good example about two professional athletes that are considered. the greatest – Tiger and Jack in golf. Tiger was relentless, worked night and day, consumed with it. Jack hardly practiced once he became a pro. Felt it was more important to be a good family man, and mentally that made him better for golf. Jack played at the top of tournament golf for nearly 40 years and claimed because he kept himself mentally fresh.
Very much believe i hard work, but everyone must also learn to “wet the stone” too.

There you go. This sums it up good. Again, taking mental and physical breaks is good for body. Bowbunch brought up strawman of winning championships (which college doesn’t matter to NFL players, btw), which has nothing to do with playing at your peak performance mentally and physically. Let’s just see how JJ does in the NFL. I hope he’s good. He may be much worse than Cousins, so we’ll see.

Usually there is a frame above the door with a pulley. You just jack knife the trap (that should be a trailer for a bear and not that little thing), run a rope through the pulley and tie it tight to the hitch. Then all you have to do is pull the trailer straight, door opens bear runs away with you safely located in the cab.

I’ve seen a couple of close calls with momma cows. One where we had a roped calf just freshly loaded on the flatbed and momma came around the corner of the flat bed with surprising speed and agility and got a half head butt on my stepson before we both scrambled up on the flat bed and one where my wife’s ex had to roll under the truck when momma came at a beeline and he slipped in the mud.

With a bear there is no chance in hell I wouldn’t be safely ensconced in the cab. Even if you were sitting in the pickup bed with a drawn tailgate the pickup could stall and that damn bear could get in there with you.

Read today that JJ threw a football 61 mph at the combine, with the fastest recorded being Burrows at 62 mph. For some reason I thought JJ had a good arm, not great. I guess we are SB bound.

I feel like JJs going to show he’s capable of things that pre draft people didnt see him do because he was rarely asked to do it. The opposite is going to happen in KOCs scheme. I will not be surprised. Last year during the pre season there were reports he was throwing TOO hard, and needed to tone it down and add a bit more touch for the shorter throws to help the receivers. Arm strength, leadership, pocket presence, emotional and football intelligence are not things we have to worry about this kid.

It depends on his ability to process. Physical traits are not the whole story on a QB’s ability. They are somewhat foundational in the NFL, but what separates good QB’s from really great ones, is their ability to process. Tom Brady is one of the fastest processors ever, Montana too, as well as Brees. Manning and Marino were also fast processors. If a QB has the physical ability, and the mental ability, along with a strong team around them, they will be very good in the NFL.

Jeff George could throw the ball with tremendous velocity and distance. Truly had a great arm.

Conversely, Joe Montana had one of the weakest arms you’ll ever see in the NFL. Brees didn’t have a cannon either BTW. Manning? Yeah, not the strongest arm, but a really good QB.

Just some personal perspective here. BTW, when Cousins went through the combine, he was one of the fastest ever recorded on the radar gun, at the time, and after he threw, RGIII decided not to actually throw against the gun.

Having a fast ball is one thing, and very important, but can he drop it in over a linebacker? Can he throw the fade to the back corner of the endzone? Does he throw a nice “back shoulder” ball?

Can he deliver in the face of pressure?

Time will tell.

I didn’t mean to intone that, and I have to apologize here. My DEI reference was not towards racial or cultural diversity. The Catholic church is fully represented, and comprised of people of all colors, and ethnicities.

I was referring to the church becoming more woke, and embracing the left’s BS that they must aggressively include “non binary” people and women in the future leadership.

Yep, he’s just a silly Youtuber so don’t take him seriously. One of the stories he told involved somebody coming into the school and trying to abduct two kids (like Kindergarten/Preschool age). One of the kids wet himself and the school didn’t tell the parents what happened and just said he had an accident. Since the local media has been trying to discredit Rich/Angry Cops, I think an arrest has been made in that case and more people are coming forward with other similar stories of the school system ignoring or covering up assaults. A kindergarten teacher was locking kids in a bathroom with no lights as punishment. The punishment for the teacher is that they can’t teach in that kindergarten class anymore. Lots of other stories in this weekends video and I’m sure there’s more to come.

There must be plenty in the Nampa region. Boise is kinda considered a sweet landing spot in the medical world.

You can ask your friends and neighbors for recommendations, read reviews I suppose although they are inaccurate, or check out where they did residency. 99% of the time someone that did a residency somewhere that you have heard of that is known to be a leader in medicine will be at least competent if not outstanding.

I will admit that I have a little microbike or minibike or whatever they are called that I look ludicrous riding on…but I use it when my wife says “your dog(s) are full of piss and vinegar and need to be run but supper will be ready in ten minutes”. Doing loops around our pasture I don’t wear a helmet but of course it is soft dirt and I don’t go very fast. If, on the other hand, I take Bubba up in the hills on my mountain bike then I wear a helmet as the descents are fast and a little technical. Of course I always wear one on the streets in town cuz asphalt is hard and there’s always the chance a driver will knock you off your bike (happened to me three times on Colton or Parkhill in Billings just riding to work in the mornings).

I’ve never understood why on a hot day a guy can strip off down to shorts while working in the garden or mowing the lawn but it is inappropriate for a woman to do the same.

I bet within a month the prurient interest would diminish considerably. I see a lot of breasts, 99% of them are not “Playboy centerfold” spectacular and I bet a fair proportion of the Playboy centerfolds are airbrushed or strategically posed for effect.

Kinda like the first time your girlfriend has an upset tummy and you are rubbing it in a circular fashion and she passes a little gas and acts all embarrassed. Whereas the typical man says, “thank god we have reached this point in the relationship” and can rip ass at will in the future.

I still don’t fart in front of my wife. She has maybe caught me five times. It’s a matter of pride for me at this stage. I enjoy being the only non-smelly husband she has heard about.

That is very impressive. My wife can definitely tell stories about the volume and length of my farts.

When she speaks of me to her friends, they are all jealous of her non-smelly husband who can also clean without prompting.

On the other hand, she hates that I don’t travel enough…so it’s a mixed bag.

Worst fart I ever smelled came from a girl in high school chemistry class.

Honestly, I’m pretty sure she died shortly after. I still don’t have complete vision in my right eye.

What is interesting is that no one said a word. We were all rendered speechless by the horrific level of stench she produced. No one even thought of laughing or making a joke. Even as immature high schoolers, we felt nothing but overwhelming emphatic pity for a person who obviously had a struggle none of us could comprehend going on inside her guts.

My wife and onion rings. Not real onion rings, but those fake ones. I don’t know if any of you remember the two beer story where she stopped the waitress and said “he doesn’t need a second beer” (ppb loved that one) but turnaround is when she tells the waitress “I’m thinking of onion rings” and I say “are they those fake ones…if so then hell no”

I simply quote my elementary gym teacher (a woman) when an unpopular girl farted and kids started making fun of her: “If you don’t fart, you die.”

I knew the honeymoon was really over when she came in and pooped while I was still brushing my teeth………

In my household, she makes me leave while she poops. That doesn’t stop her from carrying on a conversation (I wear hearing aids). “I can’t hear you!” Conversation continues. Maybe that’s when she supposedly told me the granddaughter switched majors to education.

However, when I’m on the throne anything is fair game. She’ll stand five feet away getting my opinion on whether the paint should be semigloss or matte.

Crazy how things can change. For so many years the pope and Europe tried keeping the “Turks” out of Europe, yet now they’re being let in left and right and now are receiving the pope’s Popemobile.
