Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
It is Tuesday, so we have our normal Tuesday topic if you wish. We can also talk about the fact that it is now July, and summer is 1/2 over. By the end of this month we have preseason football to watch! In the meantime, there are some shows I am streaming, and the netflix QB show is released next week. Funny enough, it is released on a Tuesday and Kirk is one of the players they follow. I hope Brad is doing ok after the Evel Knievel impersonation.

Currently watching Viking-Bills in 2022 on the NFL network.
Excellent game that no one thought we had a chance at.
Me too. Thrilling game, crazy finish.
JJ (WR) got us to 1st and goal at the 2 and we managed to get a 33 yard FG out of it.
Good thing Pat P got us the interception in the end zone to close out the game.
There were many plays in that game that could have turned out differently. Just amazing.
They said the win % chance changed from 95%+ back and forth several times just in the last minute of regular time/prior to OT.
Now there are showing Vikings-FTP 2021 week 11.
34-31 Vikings. The Douche out duels KC but Cook and JJ (WR) help bring home the win.
The Department of Education announced that the University of Pennsylvania agreed to resolve Title IX violations involving Will “Lia” Thomas, the male swimmer who masqueraded as a woman and robbed female athletes of awards and opportunities.
So great, and about damn time!
Better late than never I suppose.
Hopefully they also dump the Virtue Signaling that allow that crap in the first place.
“Happy Gilmore 2” coming out on Netflix 25 July.
Its probably gonna be awful, sadly.
Low expectations…perfect movie for an a-hole that used to post on here.
Trailer seemed ok. A lot of cameos. Unfortunately, no Barker. When I found out this was in the making, I thought Pat Sajak would’ve been a good replacement.
Will Bob Barker make a cameo?
There were rumors that Tiger Woods was going to play Chubbs son, but nope. Lots of cameo’s by pro golfers like Rory, Justin Thomas, Spieth, Scottie Scheffler, etc. Paige Spiranac too. Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino will also make an appearance. Shooter McGavin is back too. I’m thinking it will be a mindless watch, with lots of laughs.
Gotta say, I’m glad.

Athletes should keep their mouths shut about politics when overseas. IMHO
I’d say it applies to all Americans when overseas.
But I’m hardcore.
Publicly at least.
Privately what they do is their own business IMHO.
Correct.
You’re not hardcore – every American should feel that way.
And I don’t think it’s hardcore to be proud to be an American.
Perricard hit a 153 mph serve … that would leave a mark.
The NFC North QB’s are made up of two guys who have been around awhile and two guys in their second years as their starters.
If any of those starters fall to injury early, what will the team likely do?
JJ (QB) is in his 2nd year of starting???
No, he is in his second year, and he is the starter.
Ahhhh
I can see how the sentence can be parsed that way.
Keep in mind, the Bears have Case Keenum…
Happy Bobby Bonilla Day!!!

Rec for reminded us!
This was definitely a Kirkesk type of contract.
Don’t you besmirch BB like that!
Some ‘Soccer on Ice’ player.
Just one of the pieces to help bring Lord Stanley’s cup to the state of hockey.
Ugh, that brings back memories of the Oilers getting shellacked in games 5 and 6. All credit to the Panthers.
Good. Need a Frauddy replacement for the 3rd line.
Keeps Rossi on the 4th line where he belongs. (Sarc)
Old just means how fast do they need to get a replacement ready.
JJ is cut off, Ageist it is!!
Stafford seems older.
The Big Beautiful Bill Act did not pass the Senate.
Schumer objected to the name, saying it was political, the parliamentarian agreed that it did not match the Byrd Rule so the name was changed to ‘The Act’. Now Democruds can claim that they defeated the BBB.

Affordable Care Act is still informally known as Obamacare, and the American Rescue Plan as Biden Bucks.
Not to mention The Big Green Scam which used to be called the Big Green Bill.
It is all optics which is politics.
HAPPY CANADA DAY! (??)
Take off, eh!
don’t tell NLV that.
Canada Day?
Don’t Canadiens Have Fourth of July?
Everywhere celebrates the 4th of July if they can.
I have been to fireworks and picnics and celebrations in Germany for the 4th that had more Germans than Americans there. The Army put on the party and the Germans all crashed it.
We were in Taipei, and they had fireworks for the 4th back in 1987.
It was an (poor) attempt at a dad joke, some often respond “Canada doesn’t have a 4th of July”
Me “So they just go from July 3rd to the 5th?”
You expected us Dads to fall for that Dad Joke??
Just hoping
Better luck next time?
#grin
First time someone asked me if Canadians had Christmas, and if it was on December 25 (as Thanksgiving is in October up north), I answered sarcastically. The second and third and subsequent times I was asked that, it was more like, huh.
Since I’ve lived down here much longer than I lived in Canada, my accent is nearly imperceptible so haven’t been asked that in at least a decade.
Believe it or not I did get Dr. SB on it once years ago.
Haha she has a good sense of humor so I’m sure she laughed.
BTW one of the OB/GYNs here jumped ship and now works one week on one week off over for Sanford in Dickinson…one of her partners is a classmate of mine so when I saw the ship jumper at a BB game I asked her to say hi to the classmate…then I thought (oh yeah) do you happen to ever see SB (she is at St Alexius) and the OB/GYN said that SB is first assist for most of her c-sections. Small world. I really need to contact her through the clinic and meet up with her and her hubby next time or two we are in Dickinson (usually Menards).
Love it !!!!!
Sometimes I think Trump just fires for effect…
Absolutely. Master Troller.
Can’t wait for the heads to explode on TV tonight.
100% and I think the thing with Elon is just an inside joke between the two of em and they laugh about it together at night.
Not sure. Trump mentioned sending him home to S Africa. Think honeymoon is over.
Yeah. Elon going to lose billions without EV subsidies.
I think so too. Elon was all about reducing spending (and waste) to reduce debt to build a stronger country down the road. I actually thought most Repubs ran on that thought too.
I’m going to differ a little.
While I think he was genuine and good at finding waste, I think he ultimately wanted EV tax credits and didn’t get them.
I’d lean towards following the money.
He’s already publicly said all the credits and mandates should go away. He is confident enough in the product they have that he feels the tax credits are just propping up his competitors.
I haven’t heard that.
But ok.
Losing billions isn’t easy to accept.
Musk Slams Cuts to EV Credits….
You think Elon may feel a little betrayed?
What I posted was Musk saying the lack of EV credits was destructive. He said it two days ago.
It falls into the John Kerry school of thought.
“ I was for it, before I was against it.”
I think Elon was just tired of wearing the dooshy hat.
Elon wants everything done NOW.
He can do that with his companies not so much with Government/Washington.
They want the same things just that politics and politicians take a lot longer and it’s frustrating.
Well time will tell. Repubs have said just pass this bill and we will followup with a second with all the big cost cutting. Right.
In Washington they use fuzzy math. To Elon cutting meant so they don’t “increase” the debt. To Washington insiders cutting means “we are cutting the rate with which the debt grows.” Rather big difference.
Bold prediction for the season…
The Vikings, Packers, and Lions will all have a top 10 offense and defense in 2025.
FTP!!
i just hope we have the topiest
NFC North has become the best Division in the NFL.
I hate to be “that guy”, but the NFCN has not been represented in the SB since 2011…sigh…at least the NFCN has been well represented in the NFC CG pageant and got a few runner-ups since then.
Maybe the teams just beat each other up in the divisional rivalries so much that they have nothing left in the playoffs?
The teams that make up the Division are putting up win rates better than any other Division in the NFL. Last year, the NFC North had 45 wins… no other Division had more than 40.
We absolutely had the strongest division in the regular season. No contest. Since it’s basically been Green Bay representing the NFC North in the NFC CG since 2010, maybe this year we can finally get there and win.
And they’ll all play each other in the Superb Owl!
Laughing… nice Booker… now THAT is a bold prediction!
Lions will not make the playoffs this year.
That is a bold prediction too Bow.
Got ya, but I think the Lions are the second best team in the NFC behind the Eagles.
Nah, the Vikings are better this year. The Lions lost a lot on the O-line and Goff needs a strong middle of the line. They have a lot of questions. The Vikings replaced guys, but did it to get better. The Lions just lost guys.
I agree.
I think the kneecap shtick has run it’s course.
Yep, going to end just like Zim and Detroit will have a new head coach within 3-4 years.
On a recent episode of his “Fly on the Wall” podcast, Dana Carvey discussed what it was like returning to “Saturday Night Live” to play Joe Biden. Carvey said it was “obvious” that the former president was struggling, and that it was “delicate” to make fun of someone he felt to be “compromised mentally.”
“I knew that he was compromised mentally, I mean, it was obvious. But it was a delicate thing in the comedy world,” Carvey said. “There were a lot of people who did not want to do anything that would kind of ding him in an awkward way.”
Everyone knew Biden was mentally in decline, except Jake Tapper and good ole Morning Joe (and all of the rest of the lame stream media).
Couldn’t stand him as President but i’d leave that one alone.
Screw that. He was in the Oval Office and kept claiming to be better than ever. That made it fair game and he deserved all the ridicule.
FJB!
It was only “delicate in the comedy world” because he was a democrat.
They ripped Reagan and will rip Trump without a thought.
Yep
Great News: The legendary Randy Moss is expected to return to a full-time role on “Sunday NFL Countdown,” after being forced to miss time last year due to a cancer diagnosis.
Haul is A** in.
I know nothing will happen, but just make him look foolish.
They have to ‘prove’ that they are lies.
He will parse his responses to give him enough wiggle room to avoid that.
Still it would be a fun watch.
At least many of the left’s crimes against the state are being addressed. From the J6 “riot” to election fraud (China printed millions of ballots and fake ID’s) to taxpayer dollars going to Democrat campaign slush funds, we’re at least exposing how badly we’ve been mistreated.
Yep. And I do think most voters see it.
But State Run media just shills for left wing government.
Yeah… sort of like Tehran media…
Nothing has really been “addressed”, simply made public. Until people actually go to jail, then nothing has changed.
BBB had several changes made so back to House. Wonder how many months that’ll take.
Yeah, politicians can screw up a steel ball.
They only have until Sep when special elections will be held to replace 3 Dems who died. That will reduce the majority the GOP and Trump have to work with.

Big Beautiful Bill passes and the Dow is up over 400 points currently.
Yeah USA!!
Probably time to raise those interest rates.
Trump says it should be less than 1%.
And once Powell is replaced it will be.
I prefer them high. Gotta make interest on the cash I have.
Vance tie breaker?
Yup.
Dolphins’ new offense looks pretty good:
QB: Tua Tagovailoa
RB: De’Von Achane
RB: Jaylen Wright
WR: Tyreek Hill
WR: Jaylen Waddle
WR: Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
TE: Darren Waller
TE: Pharaoh Brown
TE: Julian Hill
Until Tua get another concussion.
Bless him, and hope that does not occur.
Given the nature of the game odds are that it will.
Surprise! The Dolphins are finalizing a trade with the Giants for former Pro Bowl TE Darren Waller, who is coming out of retirement to play in Miami, per sources.
A fascinating twist for Waller, who retired last summer, and a new weapon for a team that just traded Jonnu Smith.
Bleacher Report listed Greenard and Van Ginkel as the 4th best pass rushing duo in the league.
“Combined career sacks: 63.5
The Minnesota Vikings surprised a lot of people with how well they played last season, finishing the regular season 14-3 and earning a playoff spot when many expected them to have a down year. A big reason for that is they got significant contributions from players who weren’t exactly household names.
While Greenard had success with the Houston Texans, they had no problem letting him leave in free agency during the 2024 offseason. Meanwhile, Van Ginkel was cast away by the Miami Dolphins and had never been named to a Pro Bowl nor earned an All-Pro bid before last season.
However, Minnesota took a chance on both players during free agency and became the only team to have two players finish in the top eight for sacks.
Greenard was half a sack short of tying a career high, getting to the quarterback 12 times, while Van Ginkel recorded his first double-digit sack campaign and nearly doubled his previous personal best (six) with 11.5.
On top of that, the former Texan finished third among edge-rushers with 80 total pressures, and the former Dolphin was 26th with 49, according to Pro Football Focus.
Part of what makes the free-agent signings’ contributions so impressive is that the Vikings don’t have a plethora of other quality pass-rushers on the roster.
While Patrick Jones II—now with the Carolina Panthers—had seven sacks last year, he wasn’t a consistent winner with just 24 pressures, per PFF. And the next two sack leaders were off-ball linebackers Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace, as Minnesota’s defense is reliant on Greenard and Van Ginkel to get pressure.”
KAM has don’t much better with FAs than with the draft.
Both have had hits and misses as that is the nature of the beast. But the percentages* are much better with FA.
*Although I didn’t do the math because math and I are not friends.
I have to admit, when we brought Greenard and Van Ginkel in, I didn’t think they would be great. I was wrong.
I was in Viking mode.
‘Hope for the best but expect the worst’.
It’s also the Gink’s birthday today, just FYI.
Aaron Jones is the newest Viking addition to the NFL’s annual list of the Top 100 players.
Jones cracked the list at No. 98 after running for 1,138 yards and five touchdowns. He also finished with his second-most receiving yards (408) in 2024.
if i recall, i believe last year he had the most or second “total yards” of his career…
he had a good year, just dinged up a TON
Yep, they need to save Aaron Jones for the latter part of the season. He is like Dalvin Cook now. Don’t play him weeks 1-8. Unleash him when it matters.
Mason will do a very good job with that IMHO.
He was tough to bring down when we played them.
Bet that Zero turn EATS!!
his actual first purchase was probably a 200 acre property with a 10,000sq home AND a zero turn
That’s a powerful lawnmower. I sat on one before. It is like sitting on a throne.
That mower is purdy.
That Green paint drives the price up to about a hundred million.
Funny you should mention that, I had a hydraulic hose rupture on my 3046R, went in to get a replacement and they charged me $65 (mind they didn’t have 5/8″ hydraulic hose or a right angle male fitting so they asked if they could sub 1″ hose and a straight male)… while installing it I thought gee I should have had them make a backup hose as when one side of the circuit goes the other side is bound to follow…exact same setup the next day cost $105. I didn’t even notice as I was paying with my card. Way I figure it the first day they cut me a deal cuz they couldn’t fabricate the exact replacement.
New guy helped you the first time and then got reprimanded and it was explained to him that when he sees you, the price doubles.
lol!!
‘Tell ghetto trash Crockett and wannabe pocahontas that their faux outrage is bullsh*t. ‘
Don’t be bashful, tell us how you really feel. #grin
Sad how badly the Dem’s have screwed us over the years, to the tune of Trillions of dollars. Thank God Trump won the election.
The entire medicaid program that exploded starting with Obama and unfortunately many states feel for it has turned. into one of the biggest giveaway programs in our history.
So maddening that our elected officials work against us every single day.
Well the first job of elected officials is to get reelected.
That said every GOP senator voted for it and they even got a couple of Ds to join them, but it wasn’t enough.
Oh they have glorious words and promises when they run for office.
Along with lies, and complete misrepresentations of reality.
“Trump completely botched his handling of COVID”
I see nothing on news sites about this….
I thought it was a processing center, not a prison. Thought that deportees would just be passing through here, on their way out of the country?
But they need to be housed while being processed.
Neat is that they are getting the money for it from FEMA, using the money allocated for housing illegals. Only the money is going to house them at the detention center instead of at the Rosevelt Hotel in NYC. Sweet.
I’m all for it. Lots of folks screaming about the effect on the environment out there though. This was originally supposed to be the biggest airport in the world, with a super highway corridor connecting the East coast and West coast of Florida. That plan got shut down by environmentalists, and the rest of the airport was never built. The runway can handle big commercial aircraft though, so this isn’t like some little municipal airport.
Sounds like a good place for planes headed to El Salvador and Haiti to take off from to me. Environmentalists are stupid. Gotta build solar and wind farms that take up a ridiculous amount of space and then we’ll go ahead and protest and fight against transmission lines to get that power somewhere it can actually be used. I know a guy that worked for a game and fish organization that had to pick up 3-4 golden eagles from a small wind farm every year, but wind power is so safe. That’s not even mentioning the fact that it takes more power to build a wind tower than that tower will ever produce in its lifespan.
I agree Bow. So many “flaws” in the argument when it comes to “green power”. Solar panels and wind towers are a really bad plan environmentally, but we’re told they are the answer.
I am actually driving down there in about 30 minutes. these people should see the Everglades – it is nothing but one big actually huge swamp that runs from one side of state to the other. This facility is hardly a speck on a brick wall.
Both.
Most of the infrastructure was in place. It was built 10 years ago as a training base. Now temp buildings have been built added along with other upgrades.
How long until AOC is crying at the fence for a photo shoot?
We treat illegals a little different down here in Florida than you Northern folks do.
Don’t you go lumping me in with those commies a couple states over. That’s why we have our Dakota moat and make shows about bears and mountain lions eating everybody. Need to keep the riffraff out.
OK guys, here’s the NFL Network programming for Tuesday, 1 July. It will be “Player’s Choice” featuring Justin Jefferson.
As you’d expect, there are a lot of Vikings games to be had, so let’s take a look at the full slate for Tuesday. All times listed are Central time.
Watched the 2019 Wild Card game the other night, it was nice.
‘Cook, Vikings upend Saints 26-20 in OT in NFC playoffs
Kirk Cousins hit tight end Kyle Rudolph with a 4-yard fade on third-and-goal in overtime, and the Minnesota Vikings pulled out a 26-20 victory over the Saints in the wild-card round of the NFC playoffs on Sunday.”
The pass to Thielen to get us to the four yard line was so awesome. Good throw, great catch.
Even watching it knowing the results I kept expecting the officials to rule it ‘not a catch’ since the game was in ‘Orleans.
The politically slanted media will continue to tell us everything Trump does is wrong though, and ultimately hurts us.
Not sure if anyone with a working brain ignores the fake news. So not sure how much it hurts us any more.
They don’t call it programming for nothing…
July, huh? That’s crazy!
I think 2025 is the fastest year I have experienced to date.
We have the Bears, the Falcons, the Bengals, the Browns, and the Eagles to start the season. The Bengals and the Eagles are obviously the games one would think we are at risk of losing, but we have them at home. Playing at Soldier field in early September, vice say late November is also a plus.
So we start 5-0 no problem.
Potentially.
I will guess 3-2, but an almost 4-1. Eagles will likely beat us. Ultimately, Burrows will juuuust outduel JJ for a narrow win.
The best QB in the NFL against a guy who has never set foot on an NFL field in a real game? OK.
The good news is the Bengals defense can be had.
That’s an understatement. The Bengals defense is flat out bad. Burrow is great but he’ll only be able to do so much with Greenard, Gink, Turner, and Hargrave breathing down his throat. Vikes win easy, 35-17.
Like Mahomes trying to stay alive in the Superb Owl?
I’ll take that bet.
We’ve been told by experts that QB’s don’t determine wins and losses.
No, you haven’t. Stop saying shit that isn’t true.
Not sure why we would be that worried about the Bungles, they are coming of two straight 9-8 seasons. Not slouches but not at the same level as the Poopeaters.
#nojinx
Bengals have no defense and the Eagles will be playing with the post SB hangover,
Yeah, Eagles could be playing bored at that point.
I reckon I am penciling them in for the Super Bowl in the end, though. Hard to stop a team in the endgame of the season that doesn’t really care about fourth down. If they are close, they will go for it and get it usually.
They lost a lot of guys and are vulnerable. Time to raid and pillage.
The Bengals had a lot of injuries last year that slowed them down. Burrow led the league with 4,918 yards, and 43 TD’s with just 9 interceptions. Hands down, he was the best QB in the NFL last year. Their running game was almost the worst in the league, and on defense, only six teams allowed more points per game.
When healthy, the Bengals are a very good and dangerous team.
So like I said.
‘Not slouches but not at the same level as the Poopeaters’
I will say the Bengals are a perfect example of how you can have the best QB in the league, and not have a great season.
Happy July!
