Everyone is clamoring that the Vikings should sign Jaire Alexander (just like they were all clamoring for the Vikings to sign Aaron Rodgers). My thought is that he must be wanting a lot more money than teams will want to pay him, considering the amount of time he doesn’t play due to injury. If the Packers thought the price was too high, then it likely is. Yes, he’s a good cornerback. I go back to something Bud Grant said, and this is probably not exact, but he said that the best ability is availabilty. I agree. If a guy is in street clothes during the game, it doesn’t matter if he is the most gifted player in the league, he won’t help your team win. I dunno, I could be convinced otherwise, but I’d pass based on what I’ve seen & heard.

The Sporting News thinks the Vikings should sign Jaire Alexander. I think the Sporting News just REALLY needs something to write about.

The Packers released CB Jaire Alexander after failing to negotiate a contract, per ESPN. Alexander has been a standout cornerback, when healthy, but he has had trouble staying healthy.
CBS Sports has the 2025 NFL offseason dates for each team.
\CBS Sports also listed the top NFL free agents at each defensive position.
ESPN talks about the teams, rookies, and vets they’re watching in NFL minicamp 2025.
Former Commanders president Jason Wright believes the NFL is moving toward foreign investment, story from MSN. Wright sees it as inevitable that the NFL will look to international sources to expand the money pool. Like they aren’t making enough, but I think he’s right. Having games overseas was just a first step. They care about nothing but revenue.
Carlie Irsay-Gordon will serve as the Colts principal owner following the recent death of her father, Jim Irsay, per NFL.com.

Speaking of (my last post) shrieking and peeing in your pants a little, heading home from work yesterday I pulled over to the side of our private road for my wife’s ex, who was heading out with a horse trailer, buddy of his in the passenger seat, they waved and continued on their way. Didn’t think more of it until later.
I have a little minibike that I use to run the dog around the pasture if I am in a hurry for supper, rather than walk him. I go putting around the fenceline, the dog and I weave in and out of the cows and calves that are all bedded down in the shade chewing their cud.
Little bit later I notice the stupid calves are trying to get through the small fenced off area we have for Tuck’s gravesite. I go marching down there waving my arms and yelling. The calves and cows do their slow reluctant scatter, all but one that is noticeably larger than the others…a bull doing the drool snot thing, pawing the dirt up its flanks, starts bellowing and swaying its head at me. My first thought was “how did I not know a bull was in here this whole time”, followed by, “this must be a neighbor’s bull that broke through the fence”, followed by, “that’s what those two were doing with the horse trailer, this is (buddy’s) bull, on loan to top off any cows that didn’t take the AI”.
I picked up a piece of log, yelling, trying to back him away from the gravesite, but he was having none of it.
Stupid bull sat out there all night, butting nearby electrical poles, bellowing, throwing dirt all over the place. My wife called the ex this morning, told him he should have told me they put a bull in there (“well I told MT three weeks ago we were putting cows in there”). I’m sure he was gleeful. How could a greenhorn like me care about a strange bull acting aggressive in my pasture?
My stepson/his son stopped on his way to work, picked up a stick and threw it at the yammering pawing bull, and it turned its back and walked away, finally leaving our inner fence line.
Damn bull didn’t think I had follow through to beat his ass.
Don’t mess with the bulls, they can get real mean.

So if he doesn’t show up according to his contract and be a good mentor for Penix he’s not a good team player. But if he does show up its only to avoid getting fined and he’s not a good team player either.

Well, I’m using Kirks fans who tend to claim that he is such a great team dude. He didn’t show up for his team for most of the OTA’s this year.
Which he did show up for in Minnesota when he was “the guy”.
I have no interest as to the great dude or not stuff.

He didn’t show up to the voluntary OTA’s cause he’s still recuperating from the injuries to his throwing arm suffered against the Saints in week 10 last year, (and of course, he’s not the starter), and you impune him. Nice.
I’m guessing he won’t be throwing today then right? If he was still recovering last week, there’s no way he’ll be able to fully participate this week. He just didn’t go because he’s the backup. That’s his choice, but then he’s not “all about the team”. What kind of injury is so serious to the shoulder that he would still be recovering 7 months later and not have required surgery?
I doubt he’ll be throwing the ball very much today. He has been working on his shoulder and elbow for 8 months now. Sure he can throw a ball, but he’s not gonna be zipping it yet. Again, the OTA’s were voluntary, and there was no reason to be there since he’s not the starter, and he’s recuperating from a significant injury to his throwing arm. Today it’s mandatory that he be in camp. One thing Cousins is probably sensitive to is overshadowing Penix as well. He has to find a way to let Penix take over the team, and stay out of the limelight. The media will want to create all the drama they can though. Tough situation for Cousins.
Not too tough. He gets paid very well to deal with that. He will also get a chance when either Penix gets dinged up, or a starter from a different team is injured.
Cousins cares about his team, and his teammates. He will do whatever he can to help the Falcons win games. He knows he’s better than Penix, but he has to put that aside, and support him completely. If you were ten times better than a guy under you, and then were told, that guy is replacing you, would you care about the money? Or would you care that your team is far better off with you up front?
They played better when Cousins was out last year lmao
He has 0 interest in being any QBs mentor. He literally would get upset if the Vikings considered adding a new QB to the roster that may have a shot at putting pressure on him. So thats laughable
I don’t know what people want from him…. You want him to do a press conference and say “I’m just here so I don’t get fined” like Mr. Lynch? Good grief, let the guy say and do what he wants. Is he supposed to say “I hate this organization, I just wanna go where they pay me more?”. A TE is a QB’s best friend. Mahomes has lived off his relationship with Kelce his whole career. Romo did it with Whitten. Brady did it with Gronk. Great TE’s make QB’s very comfortable, and very successful.
Gronk was only there for one SB in NE if I remember correctly.
He won three in NE and one in TB.
OK, I just remember him being asked about all the SBs they had won after the first one he was a part of. Either way, he wasn’t there for all of them.
For sure. Also, Wwhen you have a stud TE that can beat LB and Safety coverage it makes it really hard to double up on the outside guys. Thought Hock was a great route runner that causes problems for defenses we face.
Such a stud that he scored exactly 0 TDs last year. Hopefully it was just the injury, but he’s going to need better production if he wants to be in Minnesota in 2026.
When he wasn’t hurt, he sure was before last year. What happened? He’s noted to be an elite route runner for a TE, he didn’t just forget how to do it
He played in 10 games last year and had 0 TDs, 455 yards. 30 of his 41 catches were for first downs though. I’m just saying, those are not good enough stats for over $20 million.
Seriously, what happened. I’m pretty sure he didn’t just forget how to run routes and get open? Just seems strange to me.
And for JJ’s success and well being, a talented TE is a big plus.
Could have just been Darnold, but it’s odd. Hopefully it was just an anomaly and he’s back to scoring TDs this year. With the amount of weapons the Vikings have targets could be slim at times for some guys. JJ did like throwing across the middle in college. Obviously could have been from the system though so we’ll just have to wait and see.
I agree that it would be helpful for JJ. Hopefully he was just slow from the injury or maybe Sam just didn’t look for the TE in the redzone. Worst case is the injury accelerated Father Time. My guess is Sam, but we’ll see.

To answer your question, SoCal, yeah I would like my money back for graduates that don’t serve in the military. I would feel the same way as a person who planned to enroll in the MOTP had I made it into med school in Canada as planned…for their investment in my education the Canadian taxpayers deserved to have me pay them back with medical officer service. Not discharged on a technicality. My opinion is that if transgender cadets be they West Point, Naval Academy, etc were allowed to enroll and graduated with distinction they should be allowed to serve, regardless of who is sitting in the Oval Office. Go ahead and change the policy moving forward if you wish but if you want my unvarnished opinion, you have it.
That would apply to football as well. Just as I would have put my civilian career as an MD on hold, so should they.
Pretty sure the couple of guys that have made it to the NFL end up serving in the offseason or after they finish in the NFL. Their contract is just deferred, not excused.
And some were assigned to active units and required to show up for weekday duty and then played football on the weekends.

I voiced my displeasure with the fact that they were not going to commission a graduate with degrees with distinction in aeronautical engineering and applied mathematics because they are not their gender assigned at birth.

If we had just paid $400,000 for you to attend medical school at Bethesda and upon graduation at the top of your class you were not offered a commission because the new CIC doesn’t want former Canadians in the medical corps, is it okay to be upset as a civvie?

First, if a mistake is made, do we have to double down on it because money is involved.
Second, based upon my Washington experience and dealing with the military, DOD pisses away more money than all the other departments combined (not talking about true entitlements). 400k is truly like a penny to you or me. I would rather call over a ship with a billion dollar price tag that ends up costing four and a half – real money.

It’s KirkTuesday….and there is nothing to say….I fear KirkTuesday will fall by the wayside and gradually fade away…..kind of like that “special” night each week my wife and I had planned during the first 30 years of our marriage….

Have you been out and played golf since your health setback?
Yes. I played 9 holes on Sunday morning. Got out at 7 a.m. and shot 5 over. I hit the ball decently. Just kept it in play, and didn’t do anything stupid. Made par on the first hole by laying up short of a marsh off the tee with a 6 iron, hit a hybrid on my second shot just short of the green, and chipped it to 5 feet with my third. Meanwhile all my playing partners hit their drives into the marsh trying to carry the ball 190 yards in the air. They all made double bogeys.

Thanks. This course has a lot of very short holes, but they are hard as hell. Water and swampy marsh surround every single green. I kid you not, there is a 175 yard par four on the course, that people can’t birdie. It’s a dogleg left, with a big stand of trees in the dogleg between the tee box and the green. You literally can’t see the green from the tee box. There is water down the left too, and it wraps around behind the green. The temptation is to hit a big draw around the trees to the green. However the green slopes hard to the left, and if you land on it, the ball kicks left and down into the water. All my playing partners tried hitting this shot, and none of them pulled it off. I hit a smooth seven wood down the right side about 165 yards. This left me with about a 20 yard pitch to the green, but because of the high trees on the right and shade, there was almost no grass, and the soil was very loose and sandy. I decided to use my hybrid and run the ball onto the green, rather than try to hit a pitch shot from the lie. I got the ball onto the green, about 25 feet from the hole. Easy two putt for a par. Again none of the other guys made par on the hole.
175 par four – that must have been one hell of a hole.
Have never chipped with a hybrid in my life. May have to give it a try.
Heck, I’m ever thinking about getting a 9 wood.
I gave up on my 5-7 irons and bought an 11 wood…

I played a 9 hole course this weekend with a 360 yard par 5…we had one single-digit handicapper in the group, the rest are all upper 80s to mid 90s.
Anyway we all thought we would dominate that hole, we were wrong, we played 2 rounds of 9 and I think the best anyone did was a 6….a 7 or two, but lots of 8s. Toughest 360 yard I have ever played.
KDS is real. I could understand being mad for years about some Vikings players that were absolutely worthless (Troy Williamson, anyone? Dozens of others), but Kirk played well for the Vikings. I get it, he didn’t win a SB (like all the other Vikings QB’s), but he gave the team a chance to win every week and made some big plays.

When the outcome is the same over multiple excursions, the commonality in those occurrences must be assumed to play a role or you are just being disingenuous. If there were ups and downs based on other personnel changing your argument would hold more water. The problem is that the ups never appeared.
I’m not saying he didn’t have flaws, but he gave us generally very good QB play (contract aside). There were many other, bigger issues IMO. CB’s, terrible coordinators (some offense and some defense), o-line play, d-line play, lack of run game.

While I don’t disagree and I’m not a big fan of his, that wasn’t really the point. I’ve seen countless posts about how Africans built the world and invented so much yet they still live in huts and can’t manage a water well. Saw another one a couple weeks ago where somebody donated some cows to a village so they could start raising them and have food for a long time. Instead they killed all of them and had one big feast and then complain about not having food.
How many Nobel Prizes have gone to Africans (non politics)?

I’ll be honest, I would not be happy if the roles were reversed, but then again I’ve been an Oilers fan for many decades and I’ve seen overwhelming beat downs blow up in their faces in the games to come. But I just don’t know if they can do it…Florida is a master agitator team and Bennett is the king at toeing right on the edge of the line without drawing a penalty.

That is really an apples/oranges thing.
I’ve seen many people get caught underage drinking. They then paid the consequences. They didn’t destroy the police car and burn the town down. Plus, there are great social ramifications. For example, my tax dollars don’t buy underage kids their beer.
It’s all about rationalizing the irrational. The left has invested millions of dollars on how to “message” their positions. This is an example. Just manipulate the message, and the masses will follow along.

Good question. They’ve been paid, but Ramsey a lot more than Alexander. Neither strike me as the “I’ll play for less than I’m worth” type.

Considering he’s only averaged 7 games a season lately, Alexander isn’t worth much in my opinion. If he’ll take a contract with at least 50% of it in playing time incentives, then maybe.
