Still a few more days until training camp. Rookies report this Sunday, and the rest of the team a week from today. Once that happens, we will get daily overreaction news about how terrible/great JJ is going to be this season. I expect somewhere in the middle. I also expect he will improve over time, and help bring a championship to us. Finally.

Thanks Surly!

Got home after 10:00 the last 3 nights. Catching up with work. Kiddo helped me mow lawns on Monday. Getting ready to take a little trip to Red Wing & the Wisconsin Delles. Won/bought a couple trips at the silent auction, might as well use them. We spent a lot, that’ll teach Heidi to stay home

Ever wonder where all those protesters who show up with perfectly printed signs come from?

“Crowds on Demand” CEO Adam Swart says he was offered $20,000,000 to recruit protesters for anti-Trump protests during an interview.
.
Swart was discussing the upcoming anti-Trump protests on July 17 when he made the comment.

“Interests aligned with the organizers of the July 17th movement have approached us. In fact, we rejected an offer that probably is worth around $20 million.”

Google has agreed to secure as much as 3 gigawatts of U.S. hydropower in the world’s largest corporate clean power pact for hydroelectricity, the company said on Tuesday, as Big Tech pursues the expansion of energy-hungry data centers.

The deal between Google and Brookfield Asset Management (BAM.TO) includes initial 20-year power purchase agreements, totaling $3 billion, for electricity generated from two hydropower facilities in Pennsylvania.

The tech giant will also invest $25 billion in data centers across Pennsylvania and neighboring states over the next two years, Semafor reported on Tuesday.

This is our economy on the rise.

Speaking of bad drunken behavior I retained a lawyer to dispense advice and correspondence to deal with my wife’s boorish ex. He (the ex) sent a (his words) “memo” AKA invoice billing us for putting up a half mile of fence on the edge of my property we let him graze cattle on. At the end of the consultation/phone call the lawyer said “I assume you’ve worked with lawyers before” – nope – “well we are expensive”. $1500 retainer! That’s gouger wages right there.

Alan Dershowitz says there is no Epstein list, which makes sense to me. To assume that Epstein kept some sort of calendar or list of the vermin he provided young girls to would be idiotic. I know, I’ll keep a complete list of names and dates of all my criminal activity, so I can be effectively prosecuted when I get caught. Brilliant. Yet that is exactly what people insist happened.

Dershowitz knows the “list” is basically Maxwell’s address book. Plenty of names in there. No criminal conduct is captured in it though. Also, in the end it is not Trump or Bondi necessarily blocking the release of the names, but rather two federal judges. They have redacted all the names in the interest of protecting the innocent. Just because you were associated with Epstein or Maxwell, doesn’t mean you raped young girls. The judges are completely right here. Any name in that address book could be dragged through mud, and ruined.

Bondi spoke too soon on the case before she looked at the files on her desk, and then she was in a stew of her own making. The end.

No longer New Vikings Fan

Because the information she referenced was in the same FBI affidavit that the judges redacted.

As to the FBI being pissed… I’m thinking some of that is being overstated. Likely some FBI officials wanted a “big win” since the Agency has been so terrible and corrupt over the last many years, and now they ain’t gonna get it. But the federal judges made the right call here.

Pam Bondi in February:

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has confirmed that she is currently reviewing Jeffrey Epstein’s client list, amid heightened public speculation and anticipation for its release.

https://twitter.com/i/trending/1893581112003236003

I think you missed the part where I said she spoke too soon. She bought into the hype before she actually read the files and found out the FBI affidavit had already been judicially reviewed and names redacted by two judges. She got ahead of her skis.

The names are indeed known. They cannot be released.

I have no evidence to the contrary. Nor does the FBI. I’d say at this point, no one will ever prove otherwise. He was alone in a cell and hung himself.

They can’t, without direct testimony and evidence to prove it in a court of law. Hearsay, is not admissible. Tapes showing a crime, that do not show the perpetrator are not sufficient to prosecute. The judges that reviewed the FBI Affidavit apparently redacted the names of the accused because of a lack of evidence, sufficient to bring them to trial.

Correct, as in theres no scheduled practices, but theres a reason many NFL players, and agents made comment about Kirk because almost every other top QB in the league is still in the facility doing film study and helping their OC or HC implement changes for that week. Laughing… so hard. Cousins works many, many more hours than the average QB in the league. He invests his own money and time in his body, his mind, and his preparation. He has notes he has compiled for every game he ever played, and studies them before he faces an opponent. You promote this ridiculous commentary like it’s some sort of gospel. It’s just a false narrative, and that’s all it is.

You know, I find this topic a little silly. Now, I’m no football coach but do have about fifty years of experience leading people – all kinds.
So strickly as a leader, this is my take. I actually think Cousins is really too mental and overly prepared. He knows the offense inside and out and has seen every defense hundreds of time.
I might actually tell him to take ‘more’ time off and just relax. Play the game with a relaxed mind, drop back and just react to the situation with an uncluttered mind.
Trust yourself and just let it flow.
Just my 2 cents.

I think that’s a viable take. Gibbs was the same way I think. He prepared and prepared. Yet he was a nervous wreck on the sidelines.

When I saw Cousins working on his brain waves in his car, I was thinking “this is a bit much”. So, I tend to agree JR. Maybe that drive to excel, is just way over the top at times.

Whole argument is wrong in my opinion.
First, I’m of the school we don’t evaluate effort rather performance,
Second, I have heard many legitimate knocks on Cousins, but I have never ever heard a teammate or coach say he wasn’t totally prepared to play – in fact, most used the term total professional.
Third, if I was into the effort thing, there are lots of hours in a week. Who works harder, the guy that works 12 by 6 or the the guy that does 8 x 7? but this isn’t really my thing.

My narrative (as always) is well founded, and apropos. I’m talking about all QB’s top tier or otherwise. Cousins does things no other QB does, like his brain training regimen. He studies and prepares relentlessly, and some think too much. You push a false narrative that he doesn’t work as hard as other QB’s and that’s a total misrepresentation of reality. Thus I just set the record straight.

I couldn’t care less whether this is your last comment on the matter today. I know you will continue to post this ridiculously lame narrative in the future, and thus you can be sure this won’t be my last post on the matter.

See you around son.

Mahomes spends more time with his wife and his kids than Cousins during the season, Surly. They showed him going to soccer games, and animal parks, and doing all sorts of things with their friends. He even goes to college football games.

Mahomes comes to training camp with his big “Dad bod” every year, while Cousins comes in rock hard and ready to go.

Nice try Surly, but you are missing wide right with another false narrative.

Lombardi’s are won by great teams BTW. Mahomes couldn’t do shit without his line.

I’ve read a few articles prognosticating on the Vikings 2025 season, and Vegas has us at 8.5 wins. This, despite the fact that we have (IMO) significantly improved our offensive and defensive lines. I don’t get the logic, other than we have a starting QB who has never set foot on a real NFL field, in a real NFL game. I think KOC has proven though, he knows how to manage a QB. He got a lot out of Darnold, and he also got something out of Dobbs. I think he’ll get a lot out of McCarthy too.

That said, the whole rest of the team looks good, and our OC and DC are experienced and have had great success in their careers. I think we win at least 11 games this year, so I would bet the over.

Health is always the most impactful factor on a teams season. Lose your starting QB? Yeah, your season is pretty much over. Lose some star O-linemen or D-linemen? Yeah, they don’t grow on trees. Same with every position group. There isn’t enough depth on any team in the league. The Giants started the same five O-linemen in every game for three seasons in a row, before they won the Super Bowl. That’s a little piece of trivia most folks don’t know.

What happened to Mahomes when his line was decimated in the last few games before the Super Bowl? 3 field goals and a blowout loss, that’s what.

Most conservatives know the drill though, as I laid out. It’s not that they are heartless and don’t care, it’s that they get that Trump is working literally hundreds of issues that directly affect their, and literally the world’s, safety, security, and prosperity. My narrative is very sound. The propaganda arm of the DNC is pursuing this only from the point of view that the administration is now “covering something up”. They basically ignored this story for years, and now they think they can paint the administration in a bad light with it.

Not a voting issue for me because the Dems are still a huge mess, but it is one of those “Is Trump really going to do something about this stuff?” type of things that people will evaluate him for.

DOGE promised to reveal the financial fat, but people feel a bit slighted as even Elon was saddened by increased spending in the BBB.

Now if Trump isn’t going to attack the Epstein perps, that adds to the doubt that Trump will actually drain the swamp and attack corruption, which is what many voted for.

It’s not just a media-driven thing as you say. People want justice upon even the elites.

I think Elon was mad because the BBB removed the EV mandate and all the tax breaks for EV’s. He struck out at Trump because his business model was severely impacted.

The BBB focuses on reduces the Federal Government spending by $1.3 trillion. In June, federal spending was cut $187B and the revenue exceeded the expenditures by $27B. First time we have had a month where revenues were greater than expenditures in 30 years.

People always want justice. They want safety, security, and prosperity, more.

Elon has stated that it had nothing to do with the EV tax breaks. He said those help his competitors more so because they need them to compete against Tesla.

The problem with the Epstien thing is it hits BOTH sides of the isle, theres monsters and evil in both parties, in local Government, Federal, CEO’s, world wide, basically people in circles of power every where, including Trump. Theres also like 10,000 hrs of video out there. If EVERYONE involved in this was incriminated it would world wide chaos and power and dynamics would be turned on its head. I guarantee you behind closed doors there’s been conversations of how to get this thing out of the public eye and mind as fast as possible, and thats what Trump is trying to do as well. Thats a fact.

Maxwell? I have a feeling she agreed to shut her mouth if she ended up in fancy rich people jail where she wouldn’t get murdered by actual inmates that would do it in a heart beat. Also dont bother with NLNVF, he knows all.

Yeah, Maxwell. You might be right, time will tell. As far as NLNVF goes, I really try not to bother, but feel like I have to share my opinion at times. I’ve rarely commented lately because of it. I’m just ready for some vikings football and hopefully some good conversations on here during the season. SKOL!!!

the son in law interviewed with the Twolves for a coaching position yesterday. They set up a second call. Mostly this is networking, but they said let’s talk more, so that isn’t bad. All I want are tickets twice a year. I am not greedy

So the Lions have a new OC (John Morton) heading into 2025. Ordinarily, a new OC comes in and changes everything, implementing his scheme, terminology, and techniques.

With Morton though, he spent a year with the Lions under Ben Johnson, and has known Campbell since their days together in New Orleans under Sean Payton.

Campbell said he wanted to hire a replacement for Johnson who would keep much of the Lions’ current system and terminology in place in an effort to keep quarterback Jared Goff on an upward trajectory.

Goff set career highs with a 72.4 percent completion percentage, 37 touchdown passes and was second in passing yards (4,629). He was named a finalist for NFL MVP along with Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Saquon Barkley.

I expect the offense to look similar to what Goff has run the last three seasons under Johnson in terms of formations, pre-snap motions and terminology. I think the Lions offense will remain a problem for opposing defenses.

Goff is a solid QB and the Lions have a good balanced offense. when you bring pressure to get to Goff, you open up running lanes and their backs are first rate and will hurt you.

Yep… the Lions O-line did a good job last year. The Vikings were 3rd best in the league in overall blocking win rate (70.87%) but 3rd worst in QB pressure rate (39.3%). Not sure how that is possible. Getting pressured on almost 40% of your passes doesn’t usually work out well for a QB in the NFL. Darnold hung in there though, and made some impressive throws at times.

Just because Kirko sucked under pressure, doesn’t mean all QB’s suck under pressure.

You clearly do not watch the games. Cousins made spectacular throws under pressure, over and over and over. Sorry DE… reality.

Goff has the biggest drop in passer rating from clean pocket to pressure in the entire NFL.

Jared Goff is money in a clean pocket. His clean-pocket IQR* (adjusted passer rating) of 115.8 led all quarterbacks last year. But when he is under pressure, which happens about 33% of the time, he falls apart. His IQR under pressure dips by 51 points to 64.3. His clean-to-pressure drop was the largest in the league last season.

Yup, that stat was brought up before the final game of the season. And I made the point of, you have to find a way to pressure Goff, even if it means changing something schematically just for him. He goes full pumpkin under pressure.

I expect their o-line will let a lot more pressure up the middle since they’re trying to replace their Center and both Gourds.
