Happy Tuesday, and welcome to Skoloholics, your home for Minnesota Vikings Discussion! Every day you can join us for the latest Minnesota Vikings news, lots of Minnesota Vikings talk, also NFL news and updates, and most anything else you may have on your mind. Vikings News

Justin Jefferson will be returning to the practice field. Whew. Not much else going on. Tuesday is traditionally the day when we argue about the most overpaid QB to ever wear a Vikings uniform. Yes, that grossly overpaid current backup QB is Kirk Cousins. Since he is soon to be out of the league until he becomes an overpaid and average announcer, I no longer really care. But we can still argue if you like being wrong. Kirko is pulling in 45 million this season. A simple google search of QB’s making over 40 million will show just how overpaid he is. He is not the only one. There are some bad QB’s on the list. Kyler Murray and Deshaun Watson and Dak Prescott come to mind. Ew.

NFL News

FTP!

There was a game last night. Well, a practice game. Still, both QB’s looked good. Bengals look the same, good offense, zero defense. Redskins or whatever they wanna be called now, really looked like the better team when they had starters playing. Daniels will be fun to watch.

Honestly, there aren’t a lot of teams out there with a starting quality backup QB. Guys like Andy Dalton and Gardner Minshew can do a decent job. I think Jimmy Garoppolo can too. Jacoby Brissett isn’t a bad backup IMO either. But what team has a guy who can come off the bench and confidently, and competently run the offense as well as the starter? We all know the answer. The Falcons.

In our case, we have an unproven starter with no real strong backup behind him. I think McCarthy will do well, but he’s gonna still have his good days and his bad. He is in the best position I’ve ever seen since Mahomes took over as the Chiefs QB to succeed. He almost can’t muck it up. But if he gets injured, we will see where it goes from there.

But they’ve haven’t been hurting at safety at all for the last few years. That has not been an issue. Who would he have played for anyway? OK, so he plays for Metellus. You wouldn’t have saved any money and he wouldn’t have been enough of an improvement to make a single iota of a difference.

OK Bow, you lost it on that one… Metellus isn’t in Hamilton’s league at all. The Ravens play him all over the field. He’s a game changer. Metellus is good. Hamilton is great.

bowbunch

Metellus played snaps at like 8 positions last year. Hamilton might be better, not arguing that. I’m saying that if they know Cine would be a bust, then Hamilton would not have been my replacement pick. You’re telling me there wasn’t a d-lineman or corner available?

No longer New Vikings Fan
Reply to  bowbunch
19 August 2025 2:27 pm

Hamilton is a 6-4 225 lb safety, who hits like a freight train. He can cover big TE’s, stop the run with authority, and has made huge plays all over the field. He is someone that has to be game planned for. Metellus can’t do what Hamilton does. Nobody game plans for Metellus.

Hamilton would have instantly made the defense better. He is the #1 safety in the league. He was the only safety to earn at least an 88.0 PFF grade in coverage, run defense and pass rushing this past season.

Metellus was ranked 30th…

You’re still not listening. English comprehension is hard, I know. What I have now repeatedly said is that if I could redo the pick, knowing Metellus is there, the team would be better served drafting a stud DL or CB.

No longer New Vikings Fan
Reply to  bowbunch
19 August 2025 3:13 pm

That is is a nonsense argument Bow. I listened, I heard, I understood. Metellus is NOT on Hamilton’s level. A DL or CB wasn’t going to be the impact player Hamilton is. He’s a game wrecker Bow. A bona fide game changing player. You refuse to accept that reality. Hamilton on our team would be a fearsome player other teams would have to game plan for.

I comprehend completely.

I think Richardson was the 4th overall pick in the draft, and the Colts expected big things from him. But in his two years with them he’s only played in 15 of 34 games, due to injuries. He has a career completion percentage of 50.6% with 11 TD’s and 13 interceptions. That’s a rough start to a career for sure.

One time when my daughter was a baby I was in the van with her with the seat back, (we were both resting) a lady saw her and called the “Mall cops” over, she was pretty embarrassed when I sat up and opened the window to ask what was going on.

My (16 in two months) grandson takes his driving test tomorrow. No driver’s ed now, instead they have an app in which they record number of hours on highway, town, night driving etc with a responsible adult.

I didn’t have driver’s ed either, instead I had my military issue father instructing with a rigid backbone. He actually did a great job teaching me, I’ve only run over a few people.

Grandson hasn’t driven in Billings (his principal residence, where his mother lives and he goes to school). I asked him when he was going to start driving in Billings, he said I’ll hold off as long as possible. I suggested he might get some experience with the traffic circles with an adult before he does it solo, and he said oh I already practiced in Miles City. Haha.

For the majority of you that don’t know, Miles is a small town with two single lane traffic circles, Billings is MT largest city and has scads of two lane traffic circles, some of which get extremely busy at rush hour.

Traffic circles were my biggest challenge when I had my learner’s permit…Edmonton had several large two lane circles and you had to be on your toes entering and leaving the circles cuz traffic was moving fast.

I should clarify, Billings and Miles (as well as Edmonton) now have “roundabouts”, which are tighter circles designed to slow traffic.

The old Edmonton traffic circles were much larger, like a couple of football fields across, and traffic did not slow, not at all, moving at a fair clip of 45-50 mph or so.

I only have the 1 kid. My wife and I figure that since we didn’t replace our population (2), we have helped save the planet.

Good for you, I’m jealous. If the colleges will stop screwing my wife around, maybe we’ll be able to move out of town some day.

I would say that’s all because of the Lord.
Others would say the Aliens let us live another day.
Still others would say all thanks to Mother Nature.

The Twins would say this organization should….learn to swim
