Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

Well, you can tell that there isn’t much in the way of football news out there, because there are numerous stories saying that Aaron Rodgers will eventually sign with the Steelers. It must be a go-to story line any time a journalist can’t come up with something to write about.

Vikings News

The Vikings and the Patriots will hold joint practices this pre-season, per the Pats Pulpit. This doesn’t mean that they’re going to practice smoking joints, it means that they’re going to practice together.

Only one Vikings player made it on PFF’s all-century team, according to SI.com. You will likely not guess who it is without cheating.

NFL News

From Athlon Sports, Patrick Peterson warns young cornerbacks against trying to emulate Deion Sanders’ coverage technique. Deion could do it that way because he’s Deion.

CBS Sports with an obligatory story tying Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers…….some day.

CBS Sports highlights the top game to watch every week in 2025.

The 49ers continue to spend money like drunken sailors. They signed LB Fred Warner to a 3-year $63 million contract extension, per NFL.com. The deal makes Warner the league’s highest paid LB, this just days after the 49ers gave Brock Purdy a massive extension, and they also signed TE George Kittle to a huge extension.

ESPN breaks down the NFL’s highest paid players at each position.

Media Selection

Not much football talk out there, here’s a preview of the upcoming Timberwolves-Thunder Conference Championship series.

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Wet and windy in Minny, maybe Twinks find a way to finish game one. 90 degrees for 3 days now it’s 42. UGH….

Kind of vague.
Lots of times there is a group trying to bring down a runner or blocking for that runner. Where does Blocking end and Pushing the pile forward begin??

Are you ‘assisting’ with the blocking or pushing the runner forward?

If the pusher is in direct contact with the ball carrier, is where the line should be drawn.

Went to the County Fair here last year and they had a guy juggling chainsaws. Lots of warnings ‘not to try this at home’ before he started. He got 3-4 small ones going at a time as I recall.
Not something seen in SoCal but might be considered normal in more common sense parts of the country.

We had DEI hires at the prison, it was in SoCal after all.
We had a prisoner or two manage to sneak away when they were off grounds on a work crew or some such.
They didn’t manage to stay away for very long.

True story,
We had inmate firefighters, one was giving CPR in the ambulance and no one ‘relieved’ him when it left for the hospital. Once he got there he asked about getting a ride back to the prison. They tried to charge him with escape cause they would be in trouble that they didn’t stop him. Happy to see that fail.

Never heard of a “suspended” game in baseball.
It used to be rained out before 4.5 innings, or an official game after 5 innings.
