Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
It bothers me a little bit that I’m as optimistic as I am about the Vikings 2025 season. I’m a natural optimist, but I’m even more optimistic than usual about this season. It just feels like everything is in place for the team to finally put it all together. Why does that bother me? Because I’m a Vikings fan and I am accustomed to being filled with hope, and then getting kicked in the gonads with a steel toed boot at some point when it’ll hurt the most. Let’s hope they can finally break that hideous curse.
Vikings News
At the Vikings.com Monday Morning Mailbag, they field fans thoughts on the Vikings revamped O-line and other topics.
From the Sporting News, Sam Darnold discussed the Vikings 2024 season and gave an honest assessment of how it ended. He basically shouldered the blame and said that the offense peed it down their leg. I like Sam, I hope he continues to have success in the NFL, except when he plays against the Vikings, of course.
Chris Carter made a surprise visit to a Vikings fan teacher and brought her a signed jersey, story from Sports Illustrated. The teacher uses sports as a tool in her teaching. Where was she when I was in school?
NFL News
Anthony Richardson expects to be ready for Colts training camp as he recovers from his latest injury (shoulder), per NFL.com. I like Richardson’t talent, but I expect injuries will continue to plague his career.
NFL.com has their win total projections for the entire NFC. The idiots have the Vikings in the bottom half, sitting at #9, with a win total of 8.7. They have the Bears one spot ahead at 8.9 wins. They provide little to no logic for that prediction. I had to look back at their 2024 projections, and they predicted the Vikings would be 11th in the NFC with 7.2 wins. The Vikings won nearly twice as many games what NFL.com predicted, so using math, we can project the Vikings to win 16 in 2025. It’s math, you can’t argue with math.
CBS Sports has 9 NFL players on bust alert for 2025. No Vikings on the list, dodged a bullet there.

Twinks have allowed 138 runs in last 148 innings in last 17 games. Minny sports baby.
Another 6 today in a 6-5 loss.
So now 144 runs in 157 innings.
Speaking of the new upcoming podcast, “Deep Thoughts with NVF and MT AKA Get Off My Lawn”, it’s too bad that when my daily grind slows and I can play most of you in central or eastern time zones are zoned out.
I’ve shared before that after meeting my one and only that I had to tolerate the ex husband, for the good of my stepkids. Was definitely hard at times but in reality I don’t like confrontation. My cohost NVF probably would have put him in a median nerve hold and dislocated his shoulder followed by stuffing his hand up his ass but I just kept my mouth shut.
FF to my wife’s birthday this past Saturday. Had a good day, my grandson had entered his 47 Dodge pickup in the carshow (Derby’s Buick was there as well). As my stepson had to accompany the grandson driving the Dodge back home I drove the stepson’s pickup and daughter back to his place, my wife drove our Bronco home and then drove the 3/4 mile in a side by side to pick me up. My stepson gave her a present, adult books that are illustrated like a kid’s book, “Sally has a moist and tasty cookie, will Bill eat her cookie?” I was reading a book out loud and the four of us were laughing good times.
Ex rolls up in his side by side. Had a few beers which made him more confident than usual. Starts grumbling. Long story short I told him I was annoyed about the bull being dropped in our pasture, ten bitch slaps followed whereby he told me bulls are harmless, cows with horns, etc as I’m coming back with huh so you’ll let the 13 and 15 year old walk across that pasture over there with a newly sited bull huh tell me more I’m not a cowboy like you. That segued into a recent moment when he told my wife to shut up in her own yard, again long story short the fireworks started boom boom boom I’m sitting there kinda quiet letting them trade shots.
Then he called her a lying f… c… b…
Now in my insular world there is no place for a worm of a man to call a woman the c word. Two men alone in a boat a mile from shore or any other people might refer to a particularly noxious female as a c word but never never in the presence of a woman. My father would have beat me most severely if I ever did that, heck I called my mom a bag once and lived to regret it.
Now you might think we started a fist fight but a) I hadn’t been drinking and b) the grandkids were standing right there. However, I did say you can’t call my wife a c… and he proceeded to tell me to stand in front of him and say it, which I did (I’m almost a full foot taller than him). That backed him down and then we had ten minutes of my wife’s fury manifest as a stream of unpleasant dialogue. We headed home.
I called him the next day to discuss some things that came up during the conversation, such as running cows on our 200 acres gratis. Guys, it was absolutely glorious to finally take the gloves off in a conversation and tell him how I felt about his constant degradation of my stepson, grandkids, utilization of the n word, etc etc etc. Every time I scored a point he changed the subject. Such pleasurable moments as “oh you fixed a break in my fence so your cows couldn’t escape, do you wanna cookie”. “oh you used to hold the note on my land, well now it is my land, do you wanna another cookie”. 30 minutes of unadulterated conversation. Oh man it felt good.
Imagine calling a man’s wife a C in front of your granddaughter. Needless to say I told her that she could never allow a man to speak with her that way.
In your time zone but I am about cooked today, I forget the particulars but didn’t some dude call one of your grand daughters the C word a while back? Same reaction as this time.
BTW I agree with your take on the word. I might of thrown hands, but I am not as young as I once was, don’t want my mind to write a check my body can’t cash.
Nice recall, yes that was a nephew (on my wife’s side). To spice it up (as you know I could get long winded) he actually brought that up when I said you can’t use the c-word about my wife or any woman, to top it off in front of your granddaughter, by saying, “gee maybe I’m a dumb railroader (the nephew’s job) and do you spell (that word) with a c or a k?” That’s one I brought up the next day, your other granddaughter was abused by that word, and you smirk like a cheshire cat bringing up that memory? That’s when I called him a little little man and he said yeah, well I think that you just put your pants on a leg at a time. It is these little gems that reveal the real crux of the issue, he is insanely jealous of me, cuz if you knew me you would know that on a scale of arrogance in the medical field I am right below a 1 on a scale from 1 to 100.
You showed more restraint than I would have.
But the Army (MP) and then working at the Prison taught me to handle a-holes like that non-violently. The Teacher calls it my ‘Cop Look’ and is seems pretty effective.
And I am normally here late with a page with Skoloholics on it up so chat wherever you would like.
You can’t get into a punching match in front of your grandkids with another grandfather. That’s some trailer park lunacy right there. Plus there is a real chance I would hurt him bad, which in a small town would come back to haunt me. Don’t really feel like selling it all and moving on.
You seem to have missed a word in response.
‘ taught me to handle a-holes like that non-violently’
Oh no, I got you, I was replying in affirmation…
Cool.
Not sure what my face looks like when I have the Cop Look going on but I have had inmates, salesmen and random a-holes take a step back when I ‘feel it’.
You are a much better man than I.
I have never been in a fight as an adult. Not sure I could still say that if someone used that language about my wife.
The guy’s a f…ing idiot. The silver lining is now I don’t ever have to hold back again when he says some dumb shit in front of the grandkids like “the n…….s are taking over the country, started with that dumb n….. Obama”.
Man, great restraint. The EX appears to be a first class jackass. Since. the guy deserves to be shot, and that’s probably not a good course of action, have no idea what to say.
Good news, I would say my encounters with him will be far and few between from now on…although he said he would just go the other way whenever he sees me from now on I was not so stupid cuz there are graduations, weddings, great grandkids, to come.
I would have beat the shit out of the dbag, but I’m fun like that.
“Stress is what happens when you can’t hit someone who really, really needs it.”
Nice hearing from you stranger. How’s it been going?
I’ll post on the new thread later
New day, fresh eyes
I stand by my statement
It’s so hard to know what’s actually going on with this war between Israel and Iran when both sides’ news outlets are so biased.
Anyone got a trustworthy place to check for news (without a subscription)?
All news is biased based on what the author wants to discuss.
You just got to understand who’s opinion you are reading.
I still say the dust hasn’t settled yet as to what is actually going on.
I wouldn’t expect anything solid for a week, until after everything calms down.
Just my take.
It’s all an editorial now. And for the most part, not very good at that.
Not really. Every outlet sides with one side or the other,
That said, here is a site in Iran that the current Regime despises, and has actually tried to force their reporters off the air by kidnapping their families.

Isn’t that just making sure false and disinformation isn’t being spread and protecting democracy?
That was considered an act of love in 2020-21 in America.
Absolutely DE… everything completely above board.

CNN reporting a leaked intel assessment that the nuclear sites were not destroyed…
They’re just mad cuz Trump said everybody at CNN is a cowardly loser.
I would doubt they would be totally destroyed. But what effort is required to get them back to where they were 2 weeks ago? A month? A year? A decade?
I still question if the nuclear material was destroyed.
But I have little doubt they are capable of doing much with it, unless they get help.
Well, since uranium is a heavy metal it would likely be very hard (pun intended) to physically destroy it. Scatter material about, sure, but a determined set of individuals could eventually relocate the majority of it. Now plutonium (239) vs uranium (238) I wouldn’t relish digging for it as a tiny 20 mg amount of plutonium inhaled would kill you in about a month.
Man, I really though they had him this time.
How many times will they attempt to impeach Trump?
I’d say 5 or more times over the next four years.
more Dems voted against it, than for it!
That’s progress I guess.
Of course they all have to run in 2026, so that’s more likely based on the make-up of voters in their respective districts.
I have a feeling that there are a large lot of Dems that really dislike people like AOC and the lot.
How could they not??

Kirk Cousins Is A Big Focus On Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ Season 2 – Athlon Sports
Darn it! Now I have to go get a Netflix account!
Happy KirkTuesday!!!
Dude is hard up for his next contract.
Gotta keep the grift going.
So, in his few months back in office, Trump has re-asserted himself to become the most dominant leader in the world. He is telling everyone else what to do, and what the U.S. is going to do. He’s rewriting trade deals, and kicking Mexico and Canada around for taking advantage of us, and infecting our country for the last 50 years. He’s taking China to the woodshed, as well as NATO. He is by far the most powerful man in the world, and quickly restoring the United States to that mantle as well.
And you have lots of
pionsDims complaining and trying to stop everything he does. Each and every time that they are proven wrong on a subject they just move on to the next one.
Their sole position on any subject is to just take the opposite of Trump’s. Unfortunately for them (good for the country) most of Trump’s stuff works out and the dims just keep looking dumber and sliding further in the poles. Stupid strategy but they don’t seem to care.
The logical move is ‘If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging’. They keep digging no matter what.
And all the holes that they choose to dig in seems to be latrines.
I heard a district judge is ordering Trump to nullify the ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
That would not surprise me
That’s funny.
It is also sad that it is possible to be true.
Laughing
Those damn Canadians!
Yes indeed those damn Canadians. Have you seen the Tariffs they impose on our goods? They have imposed Tariffs up to 200% on U.S. imports for decades, and think that’s “fair”. It’s not. Trump is right. We want fair trade. So suck it up buttercup.
Drugs have flowed into our country from Canada for the last 50 years, infecting us. Yes.
Well, damn, better close the border completely cuz I guarantee the cross traffic flow is dominated by south to north and not the other way around.
Close it completely. Good with that.
Heh heh deep thoughts with NVF and MT. We could cohost a riveting podcast.
But that would mean no more maple syrup!
Canada produces about 70% of the world’s maple syrup. That doesn’t mean we couldn’t produce more than we currently do, and support all of the domestic demand from our own domestic sources.
My point though is Canada tariffs the hell out of U.S. exports, and we do not tariff the hell out of them. Time to end that BS.
And the poutine. Don’t forget the poutine. How could the US survive? Who will put the gravy on the fries?
Laughing… OK… Poutine is a dish of french fries and cheese curds topped with a hot brown gravy.
Pretty sure we have everything we need in the country to make that.
Sacre bleu!
I crossed the border on my trip north last year with about 4 cases of beer, the canuck border people asked if I plan on selling it, no, and sometimes I gift it to people I get to know up there. This past trip, wanted to know exactly how many ounces of beer I had. Paid $108 CAD to get it across the border. They were po’d at tariffs.
Yeah, it’s never exactly clear to me how much alcohol I could take up there. As in an upcoming one day hop over to see my mother and sisters (two days total), I’ll have a small backpack with a change of underwear and some toiletries and nothing else.
I think I hauled a twelve pack up to my dad once…and when my fiancee at the time and I went to Drumheller for a friend’s wedding we also brought up a twelve pack for personal consumption. I do remember that stop at the Wild Horse crossing, the Canadian customs agent said she knew I was lying about the amount of beer I was taking to the wedding but declined my offer to open the cooler.
Will be interesting to see how my crossing goes in July. Usually if I get any static it is on the return to the US. Once I brought back 4 sausage rolls as I think they are far better in Canada, guy at the border gave me shit saying that “you can buy sausage rolls in the US, what else ya got in there” and proceeded to handle and eye each sausage roll with suspicion. I guess to the untrained eye they might look like a big joint.
Kirk sucks, he’ll never win a superbowl, and maybe never start another game! Sheesh, you guys are slacking today.
Good for you.
People are exploding at each other at work today, and I am totally on the sidelines for it.
It’s nice to be separated from the drama!
About what?
International Drama?
National Drama?
Local Drama?
A plethora of options.
Exactly… thus my question. What are they exploding about?
Maybe they are exploding about which option they should be exploding about??
#grin
Laughing… maybe.
The mythical picture up top looked just like the sky over Lake Vermillion Recreational Area where we were camping Monday night.
Did you see the photographer right behind you?
Was GF there? Rats, I missed him.
The video up top created by AI, huh?
Bust.
I was in the gym yesterday and there was a gal working out that looked just like this. Felt sorry for her so of course being the gentleman that I am provided assistance regularly throughout her workout.
How kind of you. 😁
i’m sure she was THRILLED to have the old man helping her when she didn’t need any help…..
Bet it was a very uplifting experience for her, Kudos.
Stop posting GIFs of my wife, please. Thank you.
How many wives do you have???
He does seem to have a ‘type’.
Maybe he is trying to corner ‘the market’.
Or maybe ‘the curve’ would be more accurate.
It was fun trying to figure out who the AI bot was talking about.
8.7 wins, huh? Let me check the schedule.
…
I checked the schedule. 8.7 wins is not unreasonable, I guess, with a rookie QB. If JJ is the real deal, they can better that, though.
But I think if I was forced to put real money on the question, I would be hesitant going too far over 9 right now.
I personally think McCarthy has the arm talent to deliver the ball. I also think KOC will be in his ear after the play call, telling him what his reads are, and where to go with the ball. That’s how Dobbs got through the game when he had to come in. KOC told him where to look and where to go. Of course Dobbs just took off running too when he didn’t know what to do.
McCarthy just has to make the throws that are there. I think he’ll do that. I expect we can average 24 points a game. I expect the defense to be able to hold the opposition to less than 24 points a game. Therefore I believe we will win at least 10 games this year.
Yep, it could happen. JJ just needs to deliver.
Which game gives the Vikings 7 tenths of a win????

I have the next 10 days off. Cooking the pulled pork for my sons wedding for the next couple of days.
It’s Tuesday. What should we talk about?
i’m interested to know if we are going to have a skoloholics meet up BEFORE the vikings superbowl parade, or AFTER?
I know you are being a little tongue in cheek here Freeze, but the Vikings have the roster and the “time on task” with the OC and DC to make a Super Bowl run this year. When was the last time the Vikings were going into a fourth year in an offensive scheme, and a third year with a defensive scheme?
A Super Bowl appearance is in the cards, barring some significant injuries.
i agree with you.
this is where having a healthy JJ last year would have helped BIG TIME for this year.
hoping he is just even “good”, doesn’t have to be great.
I agree and if he plays to his average potential (IMO) the Vikings will win the Division.
