Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts

It is nice that there are no contract hold-outs for the Vikings, and the team seems to be working well together. Nobody mad at each other, etc. The Vikings will start JJ at QB this Saturday, and that may very well be his only preseason action. I would like to see him play more than one preseason game, but I also realize he needs to be healthy week 1 vs the Bears. I still really like the Over (8.5 wins) for this team again. Last year was crazy, and I am not expecting 14 wins. I am expecting the defense to be even better than last year, and I feel 10 wins is doable. More would be great.

So they had a backup O-Lineman and he got injured, so they signed another one and now that one is injured?
If someone has to be injured and lost for the season it is better to be a backup/camp body. Harsh I know, at least they get paid what a ‘normal person’ would consider ‘real money.’

Rory learned in 2022 that he can miss the cut in the first leg and still win the FedExCup, so there is really no need to play in the first tournament if you are highly seeded. This year, he’s the number 2-seed so he can rest for a week ahead of his attempt to capture a fourth title.

Think I’m joking? London is now 54% Islamic. In Germany, the Muslims are telling the Germans to leave the country.

NoDak, I can’t find the article, in a quick search. I read stuff from all over the world, every day. According to this article in the British Tribune, the number of Muslims in Britain has quadrupled in the last 32 years and the projection is that Islam will become the majority religion (over Christianity) in the next ten years.

Percentage of Muslims in the UK in 2024: The Growing Presence of Muslims in Politics

There are lots of different numbers from different sources, saying the Muslim population accounts for anywhere from 5.6% of the population to 20%. So my 54% number in London is wrong by a large factor. I wish I could find the original article where I read this. It was pretty detailed.

From the Viking Age:

For years now, the Vikings have been trying to fix their offensive line through the draft and through free agency, and have not been able to find the right combinations. But it seems that they finally found a combination that could work for them and their rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy.

Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah selected Ohio State offensive lineman Donovan Jackson at pick 24 in the first round. Jackson is turning heads at training camp lately and fans are fired up to see him get some snaps in the preseason before the regular season starts.

Well as long as he doesn’t have to face Javon Hargrave as noted below…

I’m good with standing up to the political theatrics with actions that will stop them right now, and discourage them in the future. These are elected officials actively choosing to leave the state instead of being in session. The redistricting vote isn’t the only thing they are screwing with. Funding for victims of the floods, and other things are sitting on the table, awaiting their action. The citizenry should not have to suffer and I mean actually suffer, because politicians want to play politics.

Absolutely. McCarthy has the physical and athletic ability to throw a football to another player in a football game. He can hand the ball off, and even use his own legs. He just has to be cool and not make ego driven or foolish mistakes with the ball. I think KOC is fully capable of bringing him along. My expectation is with the cast he has around him, he’ll have a pretty good year. Our defense is gonna dominate, and all he has to do is not cock it up.

He has a better arm than he gets credit for. Also, McVay was one of the first OC’s to give the QB the play call, then tell him what to look for and where to go with the ball. McVay’s mind is extremely fast, and he has basically a photographic memory. He can really help any QB succeed.

When he played for the Niners, he could throw a 5 yarder to Kiddle and he’d run with it 50 yards. They also had Debo and a 5 yard out would get taken to the house.
You could have QB’d that team. He was terrible on his own with the Raiders with quality receivers.

4x Pro Bowl OLB Anthony Barr is retiring after 10 NFL seasons.

The former top-10 pick of the Vikings started 108 games during his career.

Will he retire a Viking? Sign a one day contract?

Yeah, I was cleaning out fridge this morning. I usually only take about 15 minutes from rolling out of bed to getting into the car to go to work, so I don’t put much prep into breakfast.

Normally, I just chug a liter of water, protein powder and a dash of coffee upon getting to work. I try to drink 3 liters of water at work a day and like to eat brunch around 10:30.

Then I just snack here and there until supper time and drink more fluids. I realized I spent most of my life in a state of dehydration. Doubling my water intake helped with a number of things.

I only take morning showers if I do a morning run. I like to just leap out of bed and get after it.

One of my coworkers is from the same town as Todd Bouman. Bouman was done and farming with his dad and then the Jags called him up for one last go. That is probably where Teddy is at.

The local football coach told him, Spergeon Wynn’s wife had called him telling him if he ever meets Todd, she is going to kill him.

Bouman looked at him and asked why is she mad at me. The coach told him, because of his injury Wynn is never going to make an NFL team again. Todd went in for Culpepper and got hurt and Wynn had to go in for a couple of plays and looked absolutely horrible.

From the article regarding Teddy’s connections on the team. Also, doesn’t mention Todd Bowles was the coach of the Jets for the brief period he was there. Bowles said at the time he was happy with Darnold’s progress, but wanted to keep Teddy (assuming he wanted to give Darnold a little more time before starting, or at least as a mentor). GM wanted the 3rd round pick from the Saints. Who knows, if Teddy had stayed at least for a while, maybe Darnold wouldn’t have seen ghosts.

Bridgewater has multiple connections to the Bucs. He was the starting quarterback for new Bucs defensive line coach Charlie Strong when Strong was the head coach at Louisville. He was also with new Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard when they were with the Dolphins in 2022, when Grizzard served as the offensive quality control coach. He was also teammates with longtime Bucs defensive captain Lavonte David at Miami Northwestern.”

Agree to disagree: I saw them as camouflaging themselves in just enough Vikings related posts to gain a little trust in order to hurt the real fans. Oof on the DN had Kodiak’s comment saved from comments after a tough loss saying something like ‘I love watching people with souls getting them crushed.’ It was only about hurting others and seeing others pain for that guy. It wasn’t a coincidence that Kodiak would only comment after losses.

Once you are ‘short’ you can get away with a lot more, tell people what you want to say, do more of the things you want to do and not worry about repercussions so much.
i.e. Rule about shaving at work? Ignore it, they can start progressive discipline but by the time there are any real ramifications you are retired.
