Vikings Discussion and Random Thoughts
So, the owners all got together and voted for more dumb rule changes. The new kickoff rule is dumb. They say they want to have more kickoff returns but this rule will do the opposite. The new replay rule is an improvement, but only allows them to fix penalties. It won’t allow them to fix a horrible missed call like when Darnold got his head ripped off and the ref “didn’t see it”. The overtime rule I really don’t care about.
I’m flying to Charlotte today, flight leaves at 11:30 this morning. Hopefully we don’t crash.

Twinkies managed to win a game to avoid going 0-162 for the season.
Pablo won 6-1 over the Pale Hose and managed to not make an error.
There goes the perfect season
It didn’t take me long to find collard greens.
Condolences.
There are a lot of great southern foods. I spent a lot of time in Alabama and Texas so I had many chances to appreciate all of them.
Collard greens is not one of them.
Even fried okra is a better, not much better but better.
I love both
Fried okra is amazing.
Get some good green beans that have been cooked all day with a pork shoulder. Then throw in some good, real, southern corn bread. Rest of meal will be a distant secondary.
And while you’re there find some great barbeque.
Wednesdays near Ft Hood ‘Al’s BBQ’ had a ‘All you could eat buffet’ that our office made point to go to every week.
We could barely get back to the office afterwards. Thank goodness for the Army PT program or we wouldn’t have been able to fit in our uniforms after visiting Al’s so often.
Yum, I love cornbread.
I definitely plan to find some barbecue.
So why hasn’t Aaron Rodgers signed with anyone yet? What’s he waiting on?
Maybe still hoping he’ll get a call from the Vikings?
I suspect he is trying to get more money out of Pittsburgh.
Or a better deal overall, no trade clause, say in the offense, etc.
Waaron is a weirdo, so who knows.
There really isn’t much of a choice, since Pitt has gobs of cap apace, and the Vikings don’t.
It is either the Steelers or retirement at this point.
Since The Douche is an Attention Whore retirement isn’t a option, or at least it isn’t until all the drama possible is milked out of it.
In fact he probably has not signed yet so he stays in the news.
He loves drama & being the center of attention.
So trading back and picking up a couple extra mid draft picks = ‘stealing an entire draft class’? Dumb.
I did do a muck at NFL Draft Buzz and got 5 picks for moving down about 5-6 spaces. I didn’t finish that mock as it was so unrealistic.
https://thevikingage.com/wild-trades-mock-draft-vikings-practically-stealing-entire-draft-class
41. Grey Zabel OT North Dakota State
55. Azareye’h Thomas CB Florida State
70. Trevor Etienne RB Georgia
139. Drew Kendall OC Boston College
Zabel would be a great pick, is versatile & could play guard for a couple years then move to center after Kelly’s contract expires.
This isn’t my area at all. Is the thinking you trade a top pick for a couple of lower ones?
I, again not knowing much, would think you are giving up a shot at getting a possible starter for a shot at a couple of taxi squad players.
Now, I guess once in a while those late round picks work out, but not sure how ofter.
It depends on how far back you are trading. Ideally, let’s say it’s your turn to pick and there are 3 players you like. In that case trading back 2 spots gets you one of the 3 players as well as a later round pick. It kind of depends on where you are in the draft and how your board looks. If you are sitting at 24 and you have a glut of players graded similarly and somebody offers you a bunch of picks to move up, then you move back. If there is somebody you really like available, then just take em.
Yepper
Never thrilled with trading back below 5. We have a guy in Fries who was 248th 7th and turned out well. How often that happen?
Thanks to you and GF for response. Wonder what you think of this philosophy. It’s an old one from Tex Schram and the way he built the Cowboys into a powerhouse for a couple of decades.
He claimed he always took the best football player available whether there was a present need at that particular position or not. They then developed, found a way to use the player, or later traded. Seemed to work
What I was describing is doing that while also maximizing draft capital. Say you grade players on a 1 to 100 scale, you’re up to draft and you have 3 players all graded at 75.6. Somebody 2 spots behind you calls to trade up. If you take that trade you get one of those 3 players while also picking up extra draft picks.
In a real draft, I think it comes down to whether someone is available who is a target. If there’s nobody available who you think is a strong fit, better to trade the pick & accumulate more later picks.
Trading bank Worked out really well in KAM’s first draft, all three first and second round picks suck and are gone he did much better to stay put with Addison
“We’re gonna win Twins, we’re gonna soar….
Cheer for the M I N N E S O T A Twins today …!!!!”
They look nice.
Those twins are hot, the baseball team is not
yep.
Baseball team is HOT GARBAGE.
Absolute trash
On a positive note, it should lead to some good seats being cheap by June.
That’s good in one sense, not so much in another
I always want them to win. I didn’t have high hopes anyway for this season. Pohlads need to sell.
Games gonna be delayed for sure, probably postponed.
I am guessing delayed until about 4:30.
Yeah looking at the “future” radar projections that looks about right.
My son is taking me tomorrow. Never been to a home opener. Gonna be chilly, but dry anyway.
Have fun! Beautiful park, I havent been there since 2014 though. Hopefully they get a rare W for you guys.
Oh, I’ve been there quite a few times since it opened. I’ve sat all over the place. Lately, my son just gets standing room only seats or cheap nose bleed seats just to get in the ballpark. You can see the field from about anywhere on the concourse and eventually sneaking a seat isn’t too hard. He got these tickets for 9 bucks each.
I don’t mind walking around with a beer and just mingling with fellow fans. It’s a different story if the wife goes, she always wants a seat.
Totally. Yeah iv been boycotting them until they put a consistent quality ball club on the field for more then one season/ Pohalds leave. But for $9 to mess around, thats a good time.
He got the tickets as soon as they started selling this year just so we could go to the home opener. It’s always a crap shoot with april games because of the weather, so don’t want to spend much on a ticket. I make it up with the 4-5 beers I drink, so I still spend a little.
At the airport waiting to board. Embrair to Minneapolis then a Boeing to NC. Hope the Boeing stays together.
We are stuck in Chicago. I hate this airport
Midway out ohare?
ohare.
my least favorite airport
Yeah it’s ass, I always fly to midway
Yeah, that one sucks.
I’m at the Murderapolis airport eating some chili & killing time during my layover.
Enjoy the trip and warmth. Get the hell out of this crap. April in like a lion. Not sure if that bodes well or not.
Not much better than Atlanta or LA.
Hopefully you dont got a Tranny flying and trying to flip the plane.
if I identify as a pilot, will they let me fly the plane?
Probably, Illinois is pretty woke.
I read an article a while back, some time ago a guy stole a 747 and took it for a joy ride. He learned to fly it using a simulator on his computer. He was the only one on the plane, so he wasn’t putting anyone else in danger. He flew it out over the Pacific ocean, he stole it from an airport in Washington. The air traffic controller was talking to him trying to persuade him to return with the jet. He asked the controller if a 747 could do a flip, he responded with nobody has ever tried, I don’t think. So he proceeded to do a flip in the 747. It turned out he was dying of cancer and thought I want to see if I can do it. He ended up crashing into the ocean.
Yes iv heard this story, and have heard some of the audio with keep talking to ATC. It was sad, he was not a bad person, but , it was clearly a way for him to go out on his own terms and not hurt anyone else doing it.
It would be an epic way to go.
IM GONNA DO A LOOP DONT TRY TO STOP ME! WOOOOHOOOOOOO
That’s awesome.
I think if I was going to die of some terminal disease, I’d like to try flying in one of those squirrel suits.

I know very few here care…but my goodness what an awesome Tpups game vs Denver last night. The ending was insane.
I went to bed at the end of first OT I could stay up anymore. Ant Man coming in and nailing 3 3s in a row in the 4th was fun
i had plans to watch the game.
my body mind and soul had other plans. I was fast asleep by 9pm last night
9 O’clock games are no bueno for me, it looks like one I may try to catch the replay of.
Really worth it.
I watched the whole game online with the sound off. When that final 3 missed I shut the computer down and went to bed. Didn’t know that they were reviewing a foul on the final shot and went to bed thinking the T-Pups had lost after an epic game.
Glad to wake up and find out that the game went the other way.
Ha! I bet that was a pleasant surprise. And it definitely was a foul, they were just reviewing to make sure it happened before time expired and how much time should be on the clock.
Why don’t you listen? I would find it pretty boring watching any sports without the sound on. Hearing the excitement from the crowd after every big shot is a huge part of the game imo.
Jim Peterson is an idiot, is probably why.
Yeah, announcers during any game, and any sport can be annoying but I’m referencing more to the crowd reactions.
Yes, they should have a broadcast that just has the crowd noise.
The other guy for the T’Wolves is fun to listen to. I don’t like Peterson, because of all of the back in my day crap, and he’ll drone on about something long after it is over. It is akin to Blyleven for the Twinkies.
I’m surprised they don’t have 360 cameras in stadiums and let you buy a subscription to watch the game with a VR headset.
You’d see all the calls to rig the game.
I was thinking like the front seat at the 50 yard line becomes cameras so you can pay to see the game from the stadium for 20 bucks or something and be anywhere in the world.
Oh! Yeah that’d be cool.
I wonder why the camera on cables isn’t used more than it is. Maybe it isn’t stable enough or doesn’t move fast enough.
I was reading a book online and surfing the net keeping track of current events (elections, sports). Watching without listening to all the commercials and time outs and half time and stupid commentary was much nicer.
The Teacher was watching a movie (rom-com) on the TV.
Fighting to stay out of the play in tournament.
They almost have that 6 spot. Just gotta keep winning and hope Memphis or Golden State lose a couple more.
Golden State has played much better since the trade deadline, Memphis though seems to be devolving with the firing of their head coach recently.
Yup, the warriors will probably keep the 5 spot. We need to leapfrog Memphis for the 6 spot, stay out of the play-in game. Warriors might even get the 4 spot the way they’ve been playing lately. They’ve only had 2 losses since the Jimmy Butler trade.
I watched, start to finish. Didn’t get over till a little after midnight, my time, but was one of the best I’ve seen. I only watch minny teams, but guys like the joker are definitely worth a watch.
So Wisconsin has it’s own time zone separate from MN and ND?
Is that the bartime zone?
Yup, bartime zone.
Wisconsin is the best place to drink. I was in Ashland sp. Wisconsin, way back in the day. We went to a little bar, just about every night. The bartender kept giving us free shots of tequila. Kept saying it was the last shot of the bottle. There was maybe 10 other people there that night.
Yeah, bars everywhere in this state. I have 15-20 of them within a 20 minute drive either way from my place.
What are Tpups? A Tupperware party?
Basketball sucks, but after reading your comment i looked and my goodness is the joker good
See “Iceman” died. Far too young at 65.
He was great in that role.
yes he was.
everyone was cast perfectly in that movie
an excellent movie. And my hypocrisy only goes so far
I feel like he was an underrated actor
Val is one of those actors that you don’t think he is acting. It seems like he is just being himself, but then you realize he plays many different types of people. This is what differentiates between good and bad actors, in my opinion.
I think I watched almost all of Deja Vu before I realized he was in it.
Yeah, probably my favorite film of his was real genius, awesome move
I have a 2.5 hour safety meeting today.
I am thinking about posting my number. One of you guys can call me around 8:30, and I can act like it is a phone call I have to take, leave the room and not come back.
It’s the perfect crime. No one would trace the caller back to here! Criss-cross!

Interesting the WI voter ID constitutional amendment. It shows how many of us feel….ain’t nothing wrong with proving who you are when you vote. Most of America feels this way
I need an ID to get a fishing license, or to buy the beer I will need for the NFL Playoffs each year. Voting should require an ID.
I have no issue with this.
Yup, you need an ID to get utilities turned on or do most anything else. Those opposed just don’t want it to be so difficult to commit fraud.
hmmm, a fraud deterent, what a novel concept
That sounds pretty racist to me.
Are you saying minorities are the only ones that commit fraud you bigot?
I loved Senator Hunts reply to this issue.
Only 6 min long.
Excellent presentation by Congressman Hunt. Great watch.
Safe travels PA. Totally agree on voter ID. The left wants illegals to vote for them. That’s what this is all about. Not “voter suppression”.
We did vote in a liberal judge and liberal state superintendent of public instruction however. Wisconsin has a different view of things. I saw people with a sign for the liberal judge and a vote yes for id in the same yard.
I saw some numbskull dem voter say,
“I’m not voting for that billionaire Musk…”
Ignoring the fact that billionaire Soros has pumped more money into the dem candidate than Musk.
To the Woke Feelings are more important than Logic/Facts.
Soros is ok because he stays in the shadows and isn’t just trying to pump up his car business.
That’s a good thing, VP. It shows that the people of Wisconsin are open minded and don’t feel the need to vote entirely one side or the other no matter what.
For sure. We think differently. That’s not a bad thing.
First!
Good morning all, and FTP! Like GF says above, rule changes usually make things worse, so not a fan of the new kick-off rules. Overtime used to be sudden death overtime. Giving both teams a chance to score seems fairer, and not so arbitrary I guess. That said, just because you win a coin toss in overtime, doesn’t mean you will win a game.
OK let’s have a great day!
SKOL, and GF have a safe trip to Charlotte today.
I like the booth replay assistant being available for more types of calls.
I dislike the kickoff rules. Although I’m not sure they did any more changes. I still dislike them.
I believe they moved the touchback to 35 yard line, which I thought it already was.
Good morning, SKOL!
