Prayers and best wishes to all of you in northern Minnesota who are affected by the wildfires. The last I saw tonight, over 20,000 acres had already burned & some folks were being evacuated. It’s drier than a popcorn fart out there, and the addition of high winds creates an ugly combination. We’re expecting 3 inches or so in parts of the Greater Dakota, hopefully it makes its way over there to y’all.
It’s NFL schedule release day, the official release will happen tonight at 7 pm central time. Not that the entire schedule hasn’t been leaked already, it’s been nothing but leaks for the past week, I can’t imagine there are any surprises left.

Former Gophers QB Max Brosmer may be settling in to a long-term role as the Vikings QB2, per MSN. The Vikings signed Brosmer as an UDFA after this year’s draft.
The Vikings lead the NFC North and are 13th in the NFL in 2025 travel miles, per SI.com. With two overseas games, I’m surprised they aren’t higher than 13th. I suppose being located toward the center of the US helps to cut down on miles to domestic away games.
In case you hadn’t heard, the Vikings will face the Steelers in Dublin and the Browns in London in back-to-back weeks this season, per Vikings.com. Better order the players a subscription to Rosetta Stone so they can learn the language for that London game, they’re gonna be there for a week.
PFF thinks the Vikings have the most improved O-line, and Bucky Brooks has the Vikings WR as third-best in the league, details from Vikings.com.

CBS Sports reports that the NFL is pausing its coaching diversity program initially planned to be rolled out next week, but will bring back a more improved version.
Trey Hendrickson said that he will not play for the Bengals in 2025 under his current contract, per NFL.com.

Looks like we signed Donovan Jackson to a fully guaranteed $17.177 million deal that includes $9.422 million signing bonus, plus training camp roster bonuses 2026 to 2028 of $615,775, $1.281 million and $1 million.

Ummm I see tons of personal pictures and posts from friends and family every single day. We post pictures of ourselves doing stuff all the time. , We even post video’s of the cats. I just see this as normal behavior, from a normal person. Haters want to hate, and that’s how I view criticism of a father playing chess with his son. I mean seriously. Good for you. I share stuff with my family. I don’t think the rest of the world needs to or cares to see me interact with my family. I don’t go out on social media looking to see other people interact with their families either. We obviously see this differently.

I feel that way about everyone. It doesn’t matter if you are a celebrity or a bum living in a shelter, the world doesn’t need to see all of your personal life. Also, I have spent a good portion of the day sleeping or dozing as I woke up last night with one of those headaches that make you nauseous. When I am in one of those kinds of moods, even my friends can get on my nerves. A lot of nerves where gotten on today.

The teams and venues are set for years in advance and not decided by the league. The only thing the league decides is when. You could pull up 12 out of the 17 opponents for the next however many years until the league restructures. The remaining 5 opponents are set by how teams finish in their divisions.
Week 18 is home against FTP
The NFL obviously knows the Vikings will be winning the division and want to let them do it at home if it comes down to week 18.

Good thing I rarely have to do that as a rad. I was not an easy person to get excuses from, cuz I’ve always been stoic and a “rub some dirt on it, it’ll be fine” sorta guy, much to my family’s chagrin. Heck, I had a hard time asking the techs to fish the “gas pedal” for the fluoroscopy table out from under the table the day after I broke my ribs, but figured me crawling under there and letting out a brief scream when the rib ends shifted might put the patient ill at ease.

I’d say that match-up really boils down to two teams that are completely at opposite ends of the quality spectrum… really. The QB’s are in two totally different situations. One has a fully mature, seasoned team. One does not.
I’m just telling you why they might make it a primetime game and why the NFL has interest. There are enough story lines to sell it.

I’d agree. The stand alone/primetime games are notable as a Vikes fan not in the coverage area. See them pretty frequently down here in Lincoln on local stations but the primetime games remove all doubt regarding view ability.

Folks think GB will likely challenge for the Division winner this year, and I imagine the last two weeks will be full of games where potential Division contenders will face each other. Most folks think the Lions will win the Division again, the Packers will be second, and the Bears and the Vikings will battle it out for the basement.
Nah.#1 will be locked up and they’ll rest for the playoffs.
Certainly a possibility. Vikings could be 8-8 going into the game and basically just hoping to get one last win, while the Packers are 11-5 and in the hunt for the Division. Dunno. I hope those positions are reversed though.

We talked some earlier in the week about a free and honesty press. Very good discussion actually.
Was reminded of that as I read the morning news. From Fox it pears our faithful lawmakers were up most of the night pulling together the various lose ends of the big beautiful tax bill. Big attaboys.
Then went to the WSJ and read the OpEd piece from Sen Johnson (R Wis) noting how really lacking in substance the big beautiful bill actually is. This prompted me to listen to a podcast from several of the WSJ’s business analysts who weren’t all that impressed either. Seems there are many poor policy items and several temporary budget gimmicks which will quickly expire but serve just to meet campaign promises.
Not sure where all this stands but did find one rather interesting item I didn’t know. 30% of all medicaid benefits go to able bodied young men who chose simply not to work and it appears our representatives in the House have decided to let this pass. A big beautiful bill indeed.
Politics is an ugly business. You can’t make a law or a change on your own you have to work with others which means you have to compromise. Give a little to get a little. I am no good at politics, life is too black and white/right and wrong for me.
It has been said that you don’t want to know how sausages and laws are made.
Politics is an ugly business but bad policy is bad policy period. Can you imagine this President and Congress not touching one cent of entitlements after the dramatic run up of these programs over the last four years -spending will remain at the covid level highs.
They are also looking at 2026 and weighing the possibilities of losing the House vs completing their agenda.
Dems have been screaming ‘They are cutting entitlements to people who need it’ for months now. If they have some truth to the rant some GOP Reps would be more vulnerable and keeping the House more problematic.
Not looking to 2 years of Impeachment antics if the Dims manage to flip it.
So they do a political favorable bill and keep the house. I personally think it won’t matter but say they do. Do you think they are then going to take on entitlements – no way in hell.
Over the last four years gov’t spending has gone from 20 plus to 23 plus and in four more years it will be over 26. This trajectory is not sustainable.

Well no. Not week 1 of course.
Well, our first game is the first MNF game of the year. I feel this is a decent start, because Chicago in November or December would be brutal. Playing in September should guarantee we aren’t playing outdoors in freezing weather. The same with GB. Hopefully we get them early, before the snow and cold, wet weather shows up.

I started taking a daily multivitamin this week.
The Teachers Dr suggested she start taking a Woman Specific Multivitamin instead of the Adult version she was taking. So she switched and that left a mostly full bottle of the Adult version sitting around. So since I hate waste I started taking one before going to bed.
So far only difference I see is that I pee more.
Multivitamins are a joke, and potentially bad for you, IMO. As long as you have a generally healthy and varied diet (vegetables, meats, etc.), they are unnecessary.
Have you seen the report from a couple years ago that did a deep dive into supplements? Many of them had extreme variations from what they said was in them (some had nearly none of what they claimed, and others had wild amounts of stuff that can be bad for you in too high of amounts). Since it is an unregulated industry, essentially, you have to be careful about the company you trust to ingest vitamins daily from them.

That’s not to say you can’t have deficiencies of certain things. There are certain vitamins that often times we may lack, or things like zeaxanthin and lutein, which getting more of has been shown to lower risk of macular disease. But you are better off targeting specific things like that than taking a multivitamin.
My diet is not great but not bad.
Could use more fruits and veggies but it would be a modest increase.
I have read/heard that most multivitamins flush through your system and just make your pee darker. My pee color has not changed so maybe that isn’t true.
I didn’t waste any money on these just taking them seems a better option than throwing the bottle away.
I won’t comment on The Teachers Dr recommending Women’s multivitamins, that is between them and if he thinks they are helpful to her I don’t see much downside.
It does seem most doctors have no problem recommending vitamins including multi ones.
She was already taking them before she went to see him so maybe he said ‘if you are going to take them the women’s version might be better for you’.
I try for a balanced diet, not completely successful. So doubt a multivitamin will do me much good, but also not do me much harm.
Biggest downside would be contamination and potentially overworking kidneys/liver.
Chances of that happening due to one multivitamin a day are pretty slim IMHO.
Might do a little good, who knows? I don’t plan to continue taking them once this bottle is empty.
Fair enough. If your vitamin has contamination with lead or something (which apparently is a big deal in chocolate as well), taking it daily adds up.

I do not have Peacock. Price was like $24 for the first year. When the update came they wanted $80. Nope. I may jump in if they have another sale.
I really did not like Madden when they beat up on the Vikings, but I did get over it rather quickly once he started announcing. Guy was very entertaining imo.
Not sure why everyone loves Madden tbh. Guy makes blatantly obvious statements. Okay, cool. He won a SB? Okay, many other coaches have won 1. Was he just a likeable guy?
There was a game many years ago chiefs versus Raiders. Hank Stram always the dapper dresser against Madden. One of the announcers said Madden looked like trailer park trash – liked him ever since.
I still remember hearing Madden say “you know, I think the team that scores more points is going to win at the end of the game”.
Also remember they’d show him eating a hot dog and he would drip mustard on his shirt and just wipe it off like the ordinary guy sitting at the bar. Just an ordinary slob like the rest of us.
He seemed like a very normal guy.
The only realistic road game opportunity for me is the NY Giants.
Waiting to see what day that game happens.
