Not a whole lot of news out there, folks. The Vikings met with another QB at the combine, this time they met with Kentucky QB Will Levis. I like Levis. Hell, if KAM thinks he’s the guy, then go get him!
Coach Kevin O’Connell said he values face-to-face interactions and evaluations of draft prospects, as some coaches, such as the Packers’ Matt LaFleur, stay away from Indy. Regarding quarterbacks, O’Connell prefers an annual study of veterans and rookies alike because he said he never knows when he’ll cross paths with a player.
“Just out of habit, I do that every single year,” O’Connell said earlier this week. “The guys in the draft, free agency, just looking at the landscape of the league, and then all of the quarterbacks on our roster and how we feel about our position. There’s a reason I feel so strongly about Kirk.”

Minnesota Vikings News:
From the Star Tribune, the Minnesota Vikings get “hands-on” in their interview of QB Will Levis.
A Ring camera scared the hell out of a toddler, from MSN. Way to go, Ring, ya’ bully.
At NFL.com, the Cowboys plan to use the franchise tag on Tony Pollard if no long-term deal is reached, and DJ Turner was a Turner of heads at the Combine with his lightning-fast 4.26 40-yard dash.

LOL, noticed that one.
I believe… this is an untrue tweets
They’re fake
Thanks skolly. I really needed that.
🙂
Oh, could be. I dunno.
It definitely is. 100%.
I never know if you’re serious or not when you drop this shit lol
Keaton Mitchell with a 4.38
Jahmyr Gibbs with a 4.36.
Devin Archane just ran a friggin 4.32. Holy shit. 4.34 on his first run, turs in a 4.32 in run #2.
What did Coach M. Ditka say about fast guys?
‘They didn’t get that fast running to a fight’.
Wonder what the shortest player ever measure, 5’5” runs?
Haven’t seen him yet. Wow, someone shorter than me.
This Kitayama guy is going to win some PGA events. Dude has a fantastic game. We’ll see if he can close this out for the win.
Some fast running backs running today. Wow.
I haven’t watched one second of the combine outside of tweet vids.
Bunch of dudes in their underwear, you aren’t missing much. There are a few guys I’m watching.
Saw an O lineman who might’ve blown a hammy doing the 40, that’s so shitty. Get hurt & cost yourself millions doing a useless drill.
…
“This isn’t good enough for me”
4th and 8.
Folks should read the whole thread…very interesting stuff.
Teams who are ahead in the 4th don’t need passing touchdowns, so that stat may not mean as much as one thinks.
Some folks had the same thought…
I’m neutral on Kirk. All the bulk stats and these types of stats are cute, but until it translates to wins on the field, I’ll remain skeptical.
Wins on the field and in hte playoffs, I should say. He finally broke away from the career .500 mark last year.
There is so much made about Kirk and not winning it all but if you really break down the QBs who have gotten it done you find they had A LOT of help and just didn’t screw it up in most but not all cases. We give them the glory when they don’t screw it up and get the trophy but we blame them when the team loses. I just think judging Cousins in that manner is not justified. Expecting him to carry the team to a championship is not what we say happened with about 90% of the QBs that do win one.
It’s always has and will be the contract.
that contract instantly soured so many from the moment it was signed.
vikimgs fans haven’t had to pay a premium QB salary… uhh forever because the QBs have always sucked balls.
will never change.
bumch of cheap ass Minnesotans who want everyone to play for nothing.
I don’t mind paying the guy, but he stepped on to a team that Keenum had led to 13-3, and led them to 8-7-1.
Make all the excuses you want, because there are new ones every year, but those are facts.
By “you”, I don’t mean “you”, just people in general.
Yuuuuuuuup.
and going from 3rd place schedule keenum got to a 1st place one
lets see how next year goes.
Flores is going to have to do the best coaching job of his career for the Vikings to make the playoffs next season.
Yes, the only question is if he wants to be here 1 year or two before getting an HC job.
As long as he fixes our shitty defense.
WEVE BEEN DOING “LETS SEE HOW NEXT YEAR GOES” FOR HALF A DECADE! WAKE UP!
Kwesi vs. Poles is going to be interesting going into year 2.
2 opposite approaches to team building.
Here’s Leber’s list of players he thinks the Vikings are keying on as possible draftees.
McKee is far and away the QB I want over any of them. He’ll likely be at 23 and it would not shock me one bit if they select him. That would solidify our QB position for the next 10 yrs and take that pressure off KAM and KOC. Kirk would sign an extension for 3-4 yrs and McKee would learn behind like ala Rodgers who did that for 4 years before becoming the starter. That imo is far and away the best method for QB development. Lock in the responsibilities of other players a QB has to do at the line to get them set for the play and also knowing the playbook. Then they can focus on reading the defense and executing the play. Cousins is a great teacher…I mean really good…he is a student of the game and would really be a fantastic mentor.
As far aa a WR I want Hyatt…Njibga will likely be gone and I don’t want to spend a 1st on a WR. A trade back, pick up a mid 3rd and pick McKee with the first pick is the best plan and Hyatt if he slides.
CB I think I want to go early day 3 and find a few gems in this deep class that would have been day 2 pick in a lesser CB class draft.
DL I think there are some guys day 3 like Stills from WVU and some of the Texas rookies that could fit well and produce.
Edge is the issue, I love the NW kid but unless he falls to late day 2 which he probably won’t I don’t think he is in our window.
Kirk does have great business skills.
”I can teach you how a mediocre QB like me can fleece the franchise”
I thought Clayton Tune really showed up. He’s the most “athletic” qb from the draft next the Richardson and threw well.
A WR that’s been overlooked too is Jonathon Mingo. Dude killed it at the combine and is still being slept on. Was a playmaker at ole miss but I know how we’re all hurt by those WR.
Does Gervon Dexter Keep sliding in drafts? Another guy who showed up.
Wants the edge? Then go get him. It will be another interesting month coming up here. Free agency starts in what? 10 days?
I’m just not interested in the “Athletic QB”. Give me the guy who can read a defense, execute the play correctly and throw accurately. These 235 lbs running QB’s are for the birds.
I like Mingo, also the kid from WVU Beatrice-Harper aka Aunt Bee.
We don’t have the luxury of “going after” anyone this draft. Queasy shit his pants last year and fucked us so we’re a poverty operation with picks. Dumbass got too cute and out thought himself.
I’d trade a 2 for Hock all day.
Reagor was a gamble and maybe it can pay off this year? But I doubt it.
I don’t have any issue with McKee but I wouldn’t be sleeping on Tune. Check some highlights, he’s got a solid arm, great pocket awareness, and get moving if he needs to.
The Hock trade was great if he didn’t soil himself in the draft. He should have demanded more picks from this years draft in those trades. Could have snagged at least a couple 4ths to have more ammo this year.
Meh. Maybe. It’s tough to say. You don’t think he took the best offer he received?
Safety or DT or WR was not the “premium” demanding position like QB.
Im not saying I’m cool with the haul but he may not have gotten any better offers.
Then he should have balked at the offers and taken Williams at 11 especially knowing what position he’d be in with Thielen’s contract and now we need a WR.
Cine was not worth the trade back.
Ok.
I don’t disagree. I would’ve gone Hamilton at 12 but that’s me.
At the time yes it was Williams or Hamilton I wanted. Both made entirely too much sense with Harrison and Thielen’s age and contracts. KAM wanted to make it about himself and flex with making “moves”. Arrogant ass.
Thts one way to look at it.
I don’t know what his reasons were. The Vikings had, and still have a ton of holes to fill.
I was bellering for them to take Hamilton.
Yeah I was on that boat too.
but I’m also a dumb.
I’m hoping last year was just first year jitters for KAM.
McKee & Tune are both solid, both looked great in the underwear olympics.
I don’t really care about where a guy comes from or how great a story they are. I just care whether if we draft them they can play. I guess some folks like all the touchy feely stuff. I don’t.
I thought it was cool a guy from Duluth was at the combine………
Playing the Crescent Oaks Country Club in Trinity Fl tomorrow at 9:22 a.m. Never seen this course but have been told it has lots of hidden trouble and is not really intuitive. I haven’t swung a club since January 22nd. Gonna do something I almost never do, which is warm up on the driving range. Just really going to stretch and hit some easy 8 irons. May hit a couple drivers. I want to go to the first tee with some idea how I’m hitting the ball. Usually I go to the first tee cold, and just swing away on my standard draw ball, but knowing my luck the first hole favors a fade which I can hit but I feel more comfortable hitting the ball right to left. Hoping I can break 90 on a course that is tricky and difficult, and of course I’ve never seen. Anything under 90 and I’ll be happy.
I never go to the driving range before I golf.
I go to the driving range a day or two before I golf.
As an old man, I need all my energy for the course.
I can relate DE. I used to could hit a couple large buckets and not be tired. Not anymore. I’ll get a small bucket and really just get the old glutes activated as Tiger would say.
I have a tee time for 8:00 am today but I think I’m going to skip it. Weather is nice, a brisk 40 this morning clear sky’s, beautiful sun rise over the lake. Played 18 yesterday got more than enough swings in. Struggles with coming out of infrequent winter golf getting all the fundamentals and tempo back on. Keep topping or thinning shots because KEEP YOUR GODDAMN HEAD DOWN and hit down on the ball. Had a few of them but they add strokes with miss hits.
I can swing inside to out like you for a draw but it’s not my natural feel and working on the flat wrist which promotes a fade and way better contact and distance for me draw is not in the cards as the normal shot shape. I’m going the Hogan’s route of a controllable fade. If I’ll just remember head down which I did well with my irons yesterday it was my wood I kept topping.
I rarely thin a shot, if anything I’ll fat one now and then. I don’t swing hard, what I want to do is swing in rhythm, and in balance. Should be a fun day!
Hit’m straight (which you do anyway) maybe hit’m long!
Enjoy your round!
I will watch some golf on TV, and use my putting mat to pretend golf.
Damn there’s so many studs in this draft just crushing the metrics. JSN just oozed elite athleticism at Ohio State now he just backed it up.
Is Bennett going to potentially be the next Brees? He just won’t go away.
Pretty standard throw there. If you can’t make that one against air you have no business trying out for an NFL team.
The physical tools are a given. Arm talent though is just one part of the equation. It’s processing speed that counts in the NFL. The ability to make the line calls in real time, understand the likelihood of post snap changes to pre-snap reads, going through progressions quickly and correctly, remaining mentally tough after hits or bad throws, etc. It’s what is happening between the ears as much (or more) than athleticism and a strong arm that separates NFL QB’s.
Yeah throw video is just what they posted to publish the tweet. The other throws they’re referencing aren’t shown.
Bennett will have to have those processing attributes at a high level to make up for his small stature. He’ll need to be like Brees a tactician. Maybe he is…he did help win two natty’s back to back.
Tanner McKee is impressive so far.
Good arm, quick release.
Richarson is looking damn good today, too.
McKee is the QB I want. 6’6” most accurate in this class. Could be the next Herbert and will be there day 2.
Richardson has absolutely killed this combine. He won’t make it out of the top 10 now.
I like McKee, too. If he’s there, day 2, I’d do what I could to get him if I were KAM.
Stroud, Richardson, and McKee looked really good in the deep ball exercise.
Does anyone take Richardson as the top QB after today?
Man, he’s looking good, the combine has been good for him.
Did anyone watch the video
OK, I watched the video… it was weird.
Of course I did.
MN should hire them to do the weed commercials next year once fully legal.
I was entertained, and want Parsley now.
Is Minnesota legalizing? I hadn’t heard that. It failed in North Dakota last year.
MN will be legalizing soon. All 3 branches are D controlled.
Apparently it’s going to f up the cbd market bigtime though…
Trey Palmer, WR from Nebraska, ran a 4.33 40. Ho. Lee. Shit.
Holy shit, Richardson ran a 4.44
That’s nothing… Cousins ran a 4.3
(20 yards)
LOL. These kids are fast, holy crap. Some of these WRs are burners. Some are small, though.
WTH is with all these repeated comments?
I’m not seeing any. Lemme check & see if the devs are doing updates or something.
Looks like they went away but not my imagination.
I imagine that your imagination was imagining things.

You just get wifey to retire and get the hell out of Dodge!
I keep recommending since she is on her Unions Negotiating Team that she negotiates a ‘Golden Parachute’ for herself so she can leave early.
Unfortunately Teacher shortages make that difficult.
I’m rooting for Mo. I know he had like 800+ carries in college when the average is 450ish and he’s an old 25 but he’s not a complainer or quitter.
Why eduction and qualifications matter. And yes…I’m certified.
Experience and Education beats Youth and Confidence, love it.
When life gives you snow, dig a sectional sofa around the fire pit.
Awesome!
Man I’d love to land that guy as a FA. He’s 100% the FA I want the most hands down.
Man, no shit.
Getting ready to head out for some lunch and shopping. Here’s the wife’s 52 year old legs…
I’d hate to get kicked by her
I ain’t messing with that gal!
Morning skolflakes
Morning Skolly. How´s the family?
Doing good thanks for asking man. My wife’s parents and sister are in town meeting the baby for the first time. Going well!
Skolly’s in-laws right now….
Sounds nice, good that things are going well!
From the Strib piece above:
Two more snow storms hitting up here. One starts tonight & ends Monday. The next one starts on Tuesday & continues until Saturday. We’ve gotten 75 inches so far this year, I think we have a shot at the all-time record.
What’s the record?
101.6 inches, set in 1996-97. I remember that winter, my first year back after the Army, helping my brother raise cattle.
Well, well, well. Someone’s been saying that the Vikings were going to trade a bunch of their aging vets. Man, who was that who was saying that? I think his name rhymes with Don Lishing or something. Man, I just can’t remember who it was. I’ll think of it at some point.
Mick does not rhyme with don wishing
Wrong wishing?
Or was it Dong Wishing??
Ewe Gross!
You might be right.
Does STRONG RISKS mean it actually happened?
No, and the guy who posted it is half full of shit most of the time
I don’t understand how Cousins can be gone and stay at the same time, but I’m not really good at science.
VF is kind of an idiot.
It’s so he can claim he was right, regardless of what happens.
It’s great having such in depth expert analysis being provided daily by pundits like this. Draft picks, cuts, and free agent “projections” that are as accurate as Lifers driver right now. I mean almost anyone on this blog could replace any of these jokers.
I predict the Vikings will draft some guys and people will disagree on their picks.
That’s the goal!
I didn’t realize you were in the gallery this morning following my round. 😂
“projections” that are as accurate as Lifers driver right now.
Driver was better but just a smidge off on a few holes but better. Wedges with chips was the struggle today, kept hitting them thin. Had a few too many thin 2nd shots with hybrids today also. Putting was on which was nice.
Last hole 420 yard par 4 I hit a decent drive about 223 had 197 to the hole, ball slightly above my feet, smoked a 3 wood off the deck 9 feet from the hole, drained the birdie.
Like clockwork classics shots that keep you coming back.
Nice finish there. 420 yards is going to be a three shot hole for me. I would hit 5 wood if there’s trouble off the tee about 170 yards. then hit 6 iron about 130. That would leave me a 7 iron into the green from 120 yards. If there’s no trouble off the tee I’ll hit driver 190 or so, hit seven wood 160, and pitching wedge from 70 yards.
I absolutely love my 7 & 9 woods. Used them a lot yesterday. Nice high shot trajectory and very accurate. I hit my 9 wood about 165, 7 wood about 185.
You must watch the video.
Don’t tell me what to do
