Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Kiddo and I have another football game this morning. It’s an earlier start, which is nice, that way we have the rest of the day to enjoy the weekend. We’re thinking of hitting the tailrace tonight to do some fishing, hopefully we can get some fillets in the fridge. We might as well get out & enjoy the nice weather while we still have it, the cold and snow will take over any day now.
Kickoff is at 8:30 am tomorrow morning, the game thread will post at 7:30 am. Until then, this is the place to be to discuss anything & everything. Hopefully there will be some good college games to watch today, I haven’t even looked to see who’s playing yet. If you want to know, here’s a full schedule of today’s games, courtesy of FBS Schedules.
Vikings and NFL News
Head Coach Kevin O’Connell shared his thoughts about the overseas trip, his respect for Mike Tomlin, and other Vikings-related items, from Vikings.com.
Also from Vikings.com, the final Vikings vs. Steelers week 4 injury report. On Friday, the Vikings ruled out Donovan Jackson, J.J. McCarthy, Andrew Van Ginkel and Ben Yurosek.
ESPN shares some scenes from the Vikings and Steelers in Dublin, Ireland.
Brock Purdy is returning to action this week for the 49ers after missing a few weeks with a toe injury, per NFL.com. Also from NFL.com, the Chiefs expect WR Xavier Worthy to return to action this week, but Jayden Daniels will be out again while Marcus Mariota gets the start against his former team, the Falcons. If you have to miss a game, this is the game to miss. The way the Falcons looked last week, the Commanders might be able to win without starting a quarterback at all.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.

Vikings @ Steelers: Game Day Excitement
Ready to roll… here we go! SKOL! 💜💛🇮🇪
Awesome!
SKOL!
Great pic! You guys are rocking it!!! Let’s go!!!!
Awesome, man! I’m jealous, enjoy the game.
Enjoy the game!
Nothing surprising…
How we supposed to win without Desmond Ridder?
I see a lot of pundits quoting rankings and stats in articles leading up to this week’s games. These numbers aren’t very good data though. The first four games of the season are a bit of a crap shoot. There isn’t a lot of film to examine for the teams to actually prep for. By week nine data will be more telling.
That said, our defense has played well to start the season. I think they can get to Rodgers today and affect his game.
Good morning all. SKOL and FTP.
I assume this will be the game thread today?
Good morning, SKOL!

Game Day!
I had a great breakfast, and I’m ready to see us beat the Steelers in just over 30 minutes!
Same here, just settling in to watch.
Brad posted in the mythical ‘words up top’ that a game thread would be posted at 7:30 Central, about 35m ago.
Suspect that he didn’t set it right again and he will fix that once he is up and about.
Thanks SoCal!

#6 Oregon at #3 Penn St about to start, should be a good one.
#17 Alabama at #5 Georgia has a lot of promise as well.
Oregon puling away from Penn St 17-3.
Georgia hanging tough with Bama 21-24.
Penn State looks like us against the Falcons
They got to 17-10 and are driving (currently at the Oregon 30) with 4 min left.
They could tie it up.
#nojinx
Edit: Tied at 17 with 30s left.
Oregon wins in 2nd OT.
Alabama wins 24-21.
Go Underdogs?
Saw Ben Leber at JR Mahon’s, but the pub’s too bloody crowded with Vikings fans to get near him for a pic. No matter, SKOL! Party is in full swing.
Very cool. Enjoy the game!
I’m Jelly!
Have a great time, Hun!
If able, load up some photos of the game.
Go Vikes! SKOL!!
Some news…
USA Ryder team sucks.
Cheering winning one freakin hole.
Give it up. Bradley a terrible Captain.
Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of the Bradley selection for the Captaincy.
This team format sucks. I look over once in awhile to see how bad we are.
I was about to post how bad the Rodents were playing at home vs Rutgers down 14-0.
Then they got a 80 yard pass to set up a TD and an Interception and decent return to set up another in less than a minute to tie it up.
They might not suck quite as bad today.
#nojinx
Never give up!
Rodents hang on for the win 31-28.
Move to 3-1 on the year.
Just turned on the Ryder Cup… we’re getting whomped. Justin Thomas and Cameron Young justed teed off for their afternoon match, and they look like they’re more interested in stirring up the crowd, than anything else. I’m thinking they’re about to get curb stomped.
So Thomas is playing and Scottie is sitting. When. was the last time Thomas did anything.
JT has fallen off his game the last few years. He started playing better this year, but is still not really getting it done.
The #8 Florida St at Virginia game last night was amazing. Double OT 46-38 win for Virginia.
The 2nd to last play the State player caught the ball in the end zone but bobbled for about 5 steps and finally secured it as he went out of bounds. Replay ruled he didn’t have possession inbounds so no TD.
On the last play the players were not even back on their feet when they were swarmed by a tsunami of Virginia students. 15s video, don’t even leave this page.
This story has a video of the bobbled TD/Not TD.
I am glad that I didn’t have to make that call, I would have given them the TD.

Good morning, SKOL!

Rec for first!
Grandson is coming over for the game & breakfast. I gotta plan something fun with waffles
My wife makes these scrambled eggs with onions, red and green peppers, and ham chunks that I love. Throw in a waffle with butter and hot syrup, and I think we’re there.
My favorite Mess Hall Meal was a Denver Omelette covered in SOS.
Army PT kept me from it giving me a heart attack. Too much work to make at home plus I don’t work out enough to keep me alive after eating those any more.
I can’t tell you how many times I had that for breakfast. That stuff sticks to your ribs and tastes awesome.
There was a time when I thought it couldn’t get much better than Army SOS. Couple of bisquits, SOS and three sunny side up eggs on top. Hell, that wil still work for me.
The Teacher doesn’t like SOS because it reminds her of something that her mom used to make. So now she won’t touch it at all, I can only get it if we eat out.
Female Logic at it’s best.
