The team brought back Adam Thielen to boost the WR group, thanks to Addison’s suspension they needed to do something. Did you know Adam Thielen grew up in Minnesota, and went to Minnesota State Mankato? Prepare to hear it during every game the team plays.
College football has begun. I actually watched the goofers on Thursday, and I have to admit that the QB looks decent. They could be fun to watch. Today I am doing something I rarely do. I am rooting for a team from Texas. Texas takes on “The Ohio State University”, and mostly because I hate how smarmy all the alumni from Ohio State talk, I am always rooting against them.
This post is late because I am lazy, and been on vacation all week, and just turned on my PC to see what the media is telling me to think about things.

Just got back from golf. Enjoyable quick nine but better soak my shoulder for a while. Old age is hell sometimes.
But, NLV said something below that sparked a questions. He said, and I believe it’s true, professors get tenured and then they can’t get fired. But why is that?. In most, or certainly many, types of jobs regardless of your tenure, you eff up and you’re getting fired.

So, can’t help much on the Tenure conversation other than to say the clip from the Minnesota professor is exactly why my son is not applying for U of M law school…even though U of M is supposedly a top 20 law school and my son’s LSAT test would get him in.. A hard no on that bullshit.
Now for more important issues….I am oldish like NLNV and JRobert, maybe a little younger. Anyway, yesterday on the Golf course I hit back to back 250 yard drives….I have not hit the ball like that in years….what the hell?? I think it is just God’s way of keeping me playing golf…Shot a 91, kind of like kissing your sister…its OK but not great.
Just curious, what were the second shots like after the 250 yard drives?

Both were par 5s, 1st one I followed with a decent 3 wood and a good approach shot from 80 yards out, 2 putt par.
2nd one I followed by crushing my 3 wood but then blew a 40 yard pitch, had to chip on and 2 putt for a bogey.
That’s very good. I usually follow a really good shot with a less than stellar next one. Goes to my head I guess.
I hate it when that happens…but one right down the middle and then hang a double or triple.
I can’t tell you the number of times I have laced a tee shot into a perfect position, only to fat the living shit out of a short iron on the next shot. Maddening. I don’t know why it happens. It’s a real thing though.
I figure it’s just the golf God’s messing with us – don’t want us to get too big for our britches.
This time of year, as it is nice and warm, the ball does fly further. My normal drive is 220-240. Last weekend I had two that were over 260.
Played 9 twice. 43 on Saturday, 41 on Sunday. If I tried playing 18 I would have followed the low 40s with upper 50s on the back 9. I know myself. Still a love/hate relationship with the game, but last weekend I played the same ball through both rounds.
Few weeks back, I lost 6 balls and shot a 55 on the same front 9.
Weird game.
