VIKINGS NEWS and random stuff
Today is the first practice with fans in attendance. I expect lots of overreactions. Justin Jefferson strained a hamstring and is probably not going to see the field at all. I am fine with that. He needs to be 100% for the first game against the Bears. I really wish they would cut another preseason game and go to an 18 game schedule, but I guess preseason is a good chance for relative unknowns to make a roster.
Watched Happy Gilmore 2 last night. Exactly what I was expecting. A stupid but entertaining movie that made me laugh. Wife and I both enjoyed it. This Thursday is the HOF game, and while the football will be terrible, I will still watch. NFL season is almost here.

First time I’ve ever seen Trump swing a club…
Not bad for 79 i suspect.
I agree. He really gets through the ball, and turns into that left hip. Pretty impressive.
Looks pretty consistent as well.
Giants WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton suffered a torn Achilles in today’s practice.
Brutal blow for the third-year special teams ace who missed his entire rookie season after suffering a torn ACL in the preseason.
Browns QB Kenny Pickett injured his hamstring near the end of Saturday’s practice and is expected to re-evaluate the injury later this week. Pickett was coming off a strong couple of practices, and at least for the short term, there now will be more reps for Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
Trump garnered $750B in energy investments, and another $600B in other investments from Europe today. That’s another $1.35T being added to his new business investment tally. He’s closing in on $17T in new investments since he became President in January, just over 6 months ago. I don’t think any President has ever come close to that sort of economic surge in new business investment, ever.
Tariff income, new business money, and hundreds of thousands of new jobs. We’ll finally start paying down the debt. Thank you President Trump!
Kitayama plugging his irons, looks in charge. Putter hot also.
8 putts through his first 8 holes.
President Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the US and EU had agreed to the framework of a trade deal after negotiations in Scotland on Sunday.
Trump called the deal “the biggest of them all,” while von der Leyen said that the EU had agree to 15% tariffs “across the board.”
Earlier on Sunday the South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong-based English-language newspaper, reported that “Beijing and Washington are expected to extend their tariff truce by another three months at trade talks in Stockholm beginning on Monday.”
Trump is killing it!
‘US and EU had agreed to the framework of a trade deal’
Is that like agreeing to agree to work on a deal??
No. It means, let’s get the documents drawn up and signed.
The Devil is in the Details.
They have the ‘framework’ now they just have to work out those ‘pesky details’.
No, Trump announced the deal. It’s done. Just have to write it up.
The best writeup I could find on the deal.
They pay 15% and we pay zero in tariffs.
It doesn’t mention the VAT and other EU regulations/hoops that they require US goods to jump thru.
If Trump agreed to it I’ll have to trust it.

OK, after he bogeyed the 4th hole, Rickie Fowler birdied 5, 6, and 9 to finish at 2 under on the front. He made a couple great par saves as well, so he’s doing OK. Needs to shoot four under on the back to have a good finish though.
Heat advisory. Heat index 100-105. Might determine outcome.
Didn’t know that. Saw Rickie with a towel around his neck, walking down the fairway. Obviously put it in the ice at the tee box where they keep the water.
He missed a birdie putt on 10 from 4’9″. Bother.
AND… he just sunk a putt from 33’10” on 11 for birdie!
Nothing – come on down to Orlando this afternoon.
On Saturday, Trump posted a thread on Truth Social where he stated that he spoke with both Thailand’s prime minister, Phumtham Wechayachai, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet who have agreed to work on a ceasefire.
“Just spoke to the Prime Minister of Cambodia relative to stopping the War with Thailand. I am calling the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand, right now, to likewise request a Ceasefire, and END to the War, which is currently raging. We happen to be, by coincidence, currently dealing on Trade with both Countries, but do not want to make any Deal, with either Country, if they are fighting.” he first posted.
A few minutes later, he stated that he spoke with Wechayachai, who “wants to have an immediate Ceasefire, and PEACE.”
Trump then went on to say that “both parties are looking for an immediate Ceasefire and Peace.”
Trump working on world peace around the globe.
To bad the Nobel voters are too woke to even consider him for the Peace Prize.
Rather give it to Obama for doing absolutely nothing.
Yeah, liberals gonna virtue signal, and nothing else.
So you are saying that they think it is a Virtue to be absolute Morons?
Laughing… so hard…
Apparently
Absolutely right. What did Margaret Thatcher say? “If my critics saw me walking over the Thames they would say it was because I couldn’t swim.”
Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier—who was infamously fired by the Biden administration for speaking out against the Pentagon’s radical DEI agenda—has now been confirmed by the Senate as Under Secretary of the Air Force. Once punished for exposing the creeping wokeism undermining military readiness, Lohmeiers return to power signals a renewed commitment to merit, mission-first leadership, and restoring the armed forces to their core purpose: defending America, not promoting political ideology.
He was a Commander in the Space Force when he was fired for talking about DEI on a Podcast. He went to a Trump Rally and asked a question that got DJTs attention. Glad he is succeeding.

Yeah, Air Force Academy grad who was an F-15 pilot. He speaks Mandarin and has some great understanding of China. Good guy.
A ‘Good Guy’ who was absolutely shit on by FJB and his woke Military Leadership.
He was indeed. Happy to see he got a second chance.
In a disturbing interview, a doctor at Gaza’s Islamic University openly instructs Palestinian husbands that they are obligated to beat their wives—but only in a way that avoids breaking bones or damaging vital organs. His justification? That “wife-beating should be therapeutic, not vindictive.”
I will let The Teacher know.
Perhaps all the professors at our Eastern elite universities should take note of this and think some about the crap they are pushing on their students.
By the way, given your vigorous comments about the new information released on the Russia hoax, you would have absolutely loved Mark Levin’s show last night going after Obama and his lackeys.
I have only watched Levin a few times, but he is definitely a great intellect, and presents his positions with many great, well thought out, comments. I’d say folks should listen to him. He doesn’t fill his broadcast with endless rhetoric that is all mindless pontification. Rather he has salient, and well constructed arguments with factual data.
As you know, Levin was a Deputy at Reagan’s DOJ and has his act together.
He prosecuted Obama last night with piles of evidence you would have enjoyed.
Nice, might have to look it up.
Sharia Law has a lot of nasty things in it.
I asked my Liberal Sister-in-Law how she could support ‘those poor middle east types’ while still being a Feminist. She doesn’t talk politics when I am around any more.
Those poor Middle East types, want to destroy Western civilization. Your SIL needs to understand the reality of the world, and stop being some idealistic fool, who thinks they are victims. They are not.
No, she and my brother are the definition of ‘Liberal Elites’.
They are smarter and morally superior to us brainwashed conservative types.
A field trip to the Middle East would set them straight. They need to go visit Iran.
I think my brother is not as Liberal as his wife.
Seems like he ‘goes along to get along‘ most of the time.
Typical liberal man though… let’s his wife wear the pants.
Beta Male.
It sure does. And all those gays, trans, even blacks, should take a trip to the Middle East and see how they fare. And then there’s the women!
They all love this Islamic thing and I have no idea why?
‘Gays for Palestine’ is the absolute stupidest thing ever.

A couple of “experts” claim the ball was under thrown.
The complaints should be on the defender Thomas.
Yeah. My first thought was, “what lousy coverage”
55 yards, impressive throw. The safety clearly didn’t do a good job, just kind of sliding back, not playing the receiver. He might have thought McCarthy couldn’t get it there. Still, McCarthy locked onto the route early and threw a great ball.
Both the safety and CB looked like crap – what were they doing.
Actually thought the throw was “perfect” for the situation. It was a tad under thrown, but when a WR is that open don”t they teach QB’s to under throw a tad. Thinking being a WR can’t catch an over thrown ball.
No. They don’t teach a QB to underthrow a deep ball. You chuck it as far as you can, for the most part. You sense the distance between you and the receiver, and their speed, and you throw where your senses tell you they will be. It’s not an exact science. You don’t think. You see it, feel it, and let it fly.
There are throws where you put the ball low and away, or on a back shoulder, etc, but on a deep ball you aren’t doing much more than throwing the ball over the defense.
You had a different QB coach than I did then. If we had a receiver wide open. deep, put the ball on him – he can catch a perfect throw, he can catch a little short throw, but he cannot catch an over thrown ball. With a wide open receiver, complete the pass is the number one priority.
OK, I never in my career had a receiver so wide open deep, all I had to do was throw the ball and let him come to a stop and catch it. On go balls, you’re anticipating the receiver speeding past the defenders, and a short ball is gonna be an easy interception. Short is bad on deep balls, in my experience.
Short is normally always bad on deep throws with any kind of reasonable coverage. But when a guy is wide open, like over three steps on a defender, little short will still work, little long will not.
So to me, the “analyst” in JJ’s throw saying he threw it a little short, while maybe true, was exactly where it should have been put.
Now, you are correct – if this was “normal” coverage the DB would be able to bat the ball away.
Vikes extend Metellus
3 years for $36M.
So now he can practice?
I think this is a good contract for the team. This gives him an average salary of abput $10 mil for the next 4 years. That amount is in tne middle of $$$ for tje position
Says he’s still working through something but hopes to practice next week.
Aaron Rodgers is a dick…
Maine Representative Deqa Dhalac (D), a Somali immigrant turned state legislator, has declared her priority is developing “our country of Somalia” rather than serving American interests. Dhalac’s admission exposes a troubling allegiance to foreign priorities at a time of growing concern over immigrant loyalty and national identity.
Pretty sick of all these immigrant politicians taking over our Government. We need real Americans in office.
Was she talking foreign aid or making the US into Somalia?
Either way it doesn’t sound like it fits the ‘Merican First’ agenda.
No but it’s part of the “Browning of America” which is at the heart of the real Democratic Agenda.
She has expressed her belief that Somalis living abroad, particularly in the United States, should always prioritize Somalia and focus on contributing to its development.
MOVE back then!!!
Horrible. I thought to become a US citizen, you had to swear allegiance to America and disavow any allegiance to another country.
You do, actually.
But to be a Democrat it’s the opposite.
Words are overrated to the woke.
They are just a means to an end.
Rickie starts off birdie, birdie this morning. The 2nd hole is playing the hardest on the course, and Rickie trickled in his putt from just over 11 feet. It took forever to get to the hole. He just striped his tee shot dead straight down the middle on the 497 yard par four 3rd. Hope he keeps it going. He needs a couple more birdies to get inside the top 10.
‘Rickie starts off birdie, birdie this morning. The 2nd hole is playing the hardest’
Sounds gay.
Daniel talks about how difficult it is for a young QB to throw to his left and points out how well JJ is doing it. It is a good throw but it looks like is throwing to his “right.”
McCarthy’s arm talent is plenty good. He just needs to make good decisions. I think this is where his collaboration with Josh McCown and KOC will be most impactful. Throwing the ball away is something young guys don’t want to do. It’s actually a really important lesson to learn. Don’t put the ball in harm’s way unnecessarily.
I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating. McCarthy is in a great position with the Vikings. The table is set. He can eat.
KOC, KAM and the Wilfs have a lot riding on JJ (QB). If he can’t handle it and they didn’t bring in an established Vet to back him up they would have to own it.
Since they have all seen where JJ (QB) is both on and off the field and are comfortable handing him the keys to the offense I have to feel comfortable with it as well. They have a lot more knowledge on the topic and have a lot more riding on his success than I do.
If they had any doubts about JJ, Darnold or Jones would have been back. The fact they didn’t try harder to keep either tells me they’ve seen enough from JJ and they know a lot more than me about QBing.
I like Chase.
He might not be ‘all that’ when it comes to being a QB Guru but he breaks it down where I can see a deeper level of the game. I find it interesting to see what they are doing underneath the typical ‘fan optics’.
I’m going to be in Canadia so I will miss the HOF game. I guess I will have to wait a bit to get my football fix.
I hear they might get this new fangled television thing in major cities starting in 2027…
We will be out in the sticks at some resort. I don’t think they know what tv is there yet.
Starlink
Starlink does TV?
Thought it was just phones.
Starlink is the world’s first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit to deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls and more.
Thanks for the knowledge.
Actually they have wifi at the resort. I’m just not sure that the NFL will let me stream the game since I won’t be in the USA. I guess I will find out.
Will be in MN next Saturday.
Debating getting tickets to practice.
Could be another year without Jets…..😳
ffs…doomer.

I watched Happy Gilmore 2 yesterday on Netflix. It was OK. Had some funny moments, but didn’t match the first one in my opinion. Still an amusing watch.
We watched it last night. It was fun, great to see the PGA guys in it. It was better than most sequels, but, not as great as the first.
Question: Can anyone think of a sequel that was better than the first movie?
Godfather Part 2
Rocky II.
And just about everyone of the Mission Impossible movies was better than the original.
Will Zalatoris was surprisingly good in his appearance, and the line Jack Nicklaus delivered after ordering a half iced tea and half lemonade was great.
“Oh, you want an Arnold Palmer”
The waiter says “Arnold Palmer”… Jack says “No I’m Jack Nicklaus, but I get that a lot”.
Godfather Part II
Terminator 2 – Judgement Day
Empire Strikes Back
Aliens, but the sequels after that one were beyond horrible.
Mad Max 2 – Road Warrior
Toy Story 2
