I don’t think this will be a hangover game. Vikes have had emotional, stressful, anxiety-ridden games all year and have yet to get their “you know whats” handed to them. I just don’t know if the Cowboys are the kind of team to lose two in a row.
I live in MT and we traditionally go to my grandma’s. We are doing two Thanksgivings this year so siblings and their spouses can all partake on one day or another. I will luckily be present for both. My dad grew up in MN–and as a result Wild Rice casserole has been on the menu ever since I can remember, it’s my favorite hands down. My husband says wild rice is “Ok”. I told him it was a good thing he waited until after we were married to inform me of that.
Ha! I’m protective of my traditions, too.
Vikings will win book it.
I think the Vikings will need to rely on the Cowboys to make mistakes in order for Minnesota to win this weekend. The Cowboys have advantages when passing, when running, and when on defense. I don’t see much potential for special teams to help out in a major way.
Fortunately, the game is at home. A loud crowd may help tip the table toward a Viking advantage with penalties and/or turnovers, which is likely necessary for a Minnesota win.
The Cowboys will have more of an advantage when passing than when running, so they should be better able to take the lead than to keep a lead. The Vikings, however, will have a better chance at keeping a lead by running than by retaking a lead through the air, however we know that high-leverage / low-probability plays have been working out well for Minnesota this year.
It feels like a disheartening loss that never feels close, or a yo-yo game that’s close in the end (but nowhere near as crazy as last week, obviously)
They Cowboys are very good at returning punts, so it’s a good thing that the Vikings are good at punting and punt coverage.
Cousins is riskier than usual this year, and that’s been both bad and good, but working out well so far.
Dak’s performances vary greatly, and we have fewer 2022 games to look at. The Cowboys are inconsistent in general (Vikings are actually pretty consistent)
Their WRs kinda suck (our WR2 [Thielen] is roughly the same value as their WR1 [Lamb])
Their TEs suck, Hockenson is good
Zeke and Cook are similar – Pollard is better. Hopefully Zeke plays.
Our offensive line is good, so is theirs
Their defensive line is good, ours is better
Bottom line: If the game is low scoring (on offense, anyway), I like our chances better, but I think the Vikings are likely to lose on Sunday.
Yore own analysis going position by position seems to contradict this statement to me
the ceilings of their top 2 WRs and top TE are lower than the Vikings’ ceilings, but when combined with the o-line and the running game, and compared to the Vikings’ predictive efficiency metrics, the Cowboys are a smarter bet (IMO)
Is their O-line actually better this year though? To me it is virtually a wash there.
Their run game is 13th in y/a, Vikings is 17th. Cowboys run a lot more often but efficiency wise don’t have a huge advantage, IMO.
Vikings have ~3200 yards of offense, Cowboys have ~3000 yards. I think it’s going to be a close game, or at least a lot closer than DVOA would imply it should be.
That’s a lot of teenage angst
This is probably a more reasonable take
I’m fasting, I have a stupid doctor appointment this morning & they want to draw blood. Vampires.
Good morning, front porch!
Packers basically ded before Thanksgiving.
YES
The way the announcers were going on during the game you would have thought the Packers were the best thing since sliced bread.
Good morning! Headed to Costco in a little while, we’re having Thanksgiving tomorrow since I’m working next week.
I see Darrisaw was limited for practice yesterday, hope that’s a good sign he’ll progress and be able to play on Sunday.
Morning Rob!
Enjoy the holiday. What’s on the menu. Normal Turkey day things?
Smoked turkey here. Did a practice round a few weeks ago, turned out really well.
My kids asked for steak so we’re going with that
For Christmas we’re doing a ham or a goose (I haven’t cooked a goose before so I’m a little unsure) plus I’ll make my cornbread dressing.
Your kids are very smart. Hope it is a great day for you since you have to
gougework on Thanksgiving.Cornbread dressing is amazing.
Just remember to cut the head off
I shoot geese all the time. You can make really good jerky out of them. The breast meat is a dark red, but you’re probably going to get a store bought one? Never bought a goose.
I’m putting a turkey on the smoker, too. Been a tradition for almost a decade now, absolutely love it.
We smoked a turkey a few years back. Turned out real, real nice. The day before, we took a spiced wine and slowly simmered it to cook it down to a paste, added more seasoning to it, and used it to paint over the Turkey while it was smoking – Delish!
This year, everyone said “No Turkey” so we are doing a few roaster chickens, so the rest of the meal can stay the same. I will miss making my Turkey soup though.
Good leftover idea we always to. We make some individual pot pies with the turkey, veggies and gravy and freeze them. Makes for easy dinners in January
I think Darrisaw likely plays Sunday, if not its probably a long day for the offense.
Happy early-Thanksgiving, Rob and family!
