That is against the rules of the thread, so no more discussion.
It’s pronounced “futbol” and is allowed
I played soccer when I was a teenager and it was fun. I didn’t play it long enough to really understand the rules however. Watching it is not fun.
You’re watching it wrong
I’m going to start posting Draw Play Dave’s work up top and in the comments.
Really nice dude, I like his work
He does some great work.
Big sports weekend, the USMNT plays tomorrow morning (also known as naptime for Brad)
and
it looks like I’ll get the Vikings game live on Sunday
Holy moley, that tournament thingy is STILL going on?
Don’t worry, you can play a nap tomorrow morning-keep your phone next to you so I can text you and GA
Will do. My co-worker watches all of it, I go in to his office to bug him and ask him stupid soccer questions frequently. My most recent question was “why do they add time instead of just stopping the stupid clock?” He had no answer for me other than “because that’s how they’ve always done it”, which is probably my least favorite answer in the world.
That’s how the game is played, you’d know that by now if you weren’t napping 😂
It seems dumb to have two clocks. One for the game, and the other for off time. Just stop the stupid clock, it’s more efficient and accurate. However, it would eliminate the possibility of corruption, a staple of soccer.
FIFA is by far the most corrupt sports governing body
NCAA is giving them a run for their money.
Roger Goodell is on line 1.
Solid point.
There’s only one clock, the referee keeps the time
Should be a good game. Other than the 2nd half in their first World Cup match against Wales, the U.S. team has been playing really well overall. They’ve just got to find a way to put the ball in the net, scoring only 2 goals during the group stage. The Netherlands is a really good team but the good guys have a solid chance for the upset.
It’ll be a little early in the day for game time drinks but I may have to break out the Bloody Mary recipe. I just need to be careful I pace myself, so I can enjoy the SEC Championship game later in the day.
I have a daquiri recipe I created a few seasons ago that I call ‘Dawgquiris’. Georgia is undefeated when I make them and my daughter (junior at UGA) is very superstitious when it comes to game day traditions. The only game I haven’t had a Dawgquiri was last year’s SEC Championship against Alabama, because I took my daughter to the game. They lost, so ever since then my daughter will always call/text to confirm I’m having Dawgquiri’s during the game.
tl;dr
I don’t know squat about the Netherlands team other than they used to be good
Finishing has been an issue for the USMNT
NoYST?
TNWSS
lol…I like to think so
The final score against the Iron Shiek was 1-0. How are they playing well?
That’s a good score, you should nap less and pay attention
They pretty much controlled the entire game…just struggled to get the ball in the net.
I watched a few minutes in my co-workers office while I was annoying him, and The Iron Shiek had the ball on their scoring side most of the time that I watched.
Iran did make a push late in the game and had a couple of chances, but overall the U.S. outplayed them, IMO.
We should play Iran in football. Real football, I mean.
That would be fun to watch.
Ok, I’ll be serious now, is the US good? From what I know they are usually not and I don’t mean that in a “the Vikings suck and always will” kodiak sort of way, just usually hear about them not winning, but maybe I’m confusing them with the MPLS soccer team. Do they have a legit chance to beat win the soccer version of the Lombardi? I will not watch but will feel a sense of national pride if they win.
Hey you guys are slacking….
I just went to the Daily Open Thread and posted something. Then I noticed I saw a lot of the posts already. It was yesterday’s thread. Come on, it’s 9 AM here in PA
News & discussion page is now under “Open Threads” and won’t be on the front page anymore. If you go to the “News” heading at the top of the home page, then select “Open Threads”, you’ll find all the News & Discussion posts. We may start calling them the Back Page Discussion or something (Rob coined that one).
The news & discussion posts were burying everything else, so we decided to move them. Plus, when certain members are around, it’d drive away new members, so we thought it best to just take them off the front page.
Especially now that our comment counts are up so high, we’re having to post 2 news & discussion pages a day.
Can always bookmark this link & it’ll get you to the “open threads” page. https://skoloholics.com/open-threads/
Thought it fit well
Ahh Friday on the Porch. The grandkid has a 2 PM CYO basketball game Sunday. I hate Sunday kids events, because I am torn between whether to stay home and watch a good football game, or go to his game. I do not enjoy watching a sporting event once I know the outcome, and it is hard to get in front of the TV at 4 PM, and not know the Vikings game result.
Can anyone on here enjoy watching a game, knowing the outcome?
I’ve tried, I have no interest at all
I watch pretty much every game on replay after I’ve watched it, but that’s usually for analysis. For that, I can. If I haven’t watched it and know the outcome, it’s hard to watch and enjoy. I’m with ya’ there.
I can. But I’m special.
FINALLY. Man, this has been a long week.
This has been a very good week, I didn’t go hunting and got lots of stuff done around the house
I’ve gotten a bunch done on the website, it’s been a productive week. It’s getting a bit odd, not knowing what to expect with the sale of the company and all. My job has gotten boring, as we obviously aren’t buying any companies now that we’re being sold, so I have LOTS of time to play around with the site.
Nice
i got some (but not all of the trees trimmed back)
Did all the weedeating and prep so I can mow today or tomorrow.
installed light on the path from the garage to the….front porch
squeezed in some workout time
I have a plan for the porch and all three structures this winter for staining
LOL, weedeating and mowing isn’t necessary when you have 2 feet of snow covering everything. A dude I know got his tiller out to break up the sheet of ice on his driveway. Rednecks.
True redneck would have used explosives
Tell me about it… SO glad this week is over. Work sucked, it´s high time the weekend is finally here. On that note… I´m off to the Open Thread, see y´all over there!
