After a couple of furious days of Vikings news, yesterday was mostly quiet. We did have some practice squad activity, and that activity included a kid from North Dakota, so it stands to reason that it was a solid move and will lead the Vikings to bigger and better things.
I don’t really expect to see a whole lot more from the Vikings, considering their current cap situation. It seems they’re sniffing around and using any means at their disposal to improve the team in both the short and long term, so a move isn’t out of the question. I suppose they could clear some room easily enough, so if we do happen to see several restructures hit the news wire, we’ll know there is probably a trade or free agent signing pending. Until then, we can wait (im)patiently for September 11th to get here. For now, y’all have at it in the comments, and remember, be cool to one another. SKOL!!!!

so if a bell cow running back blows his ACL, when free agents are available (i believe wednesdays), you can put money down on the running back who is next in line

Had an ad hoc whiskey tasting at work today…shhh…
We had a bottle of Pendleton and a bottle of Wisers…
Pendletons a bit more expensive than Wisers, but Wisers isn’t bad.
So, My I.T. guy and myself left the room while our Finance person and Statistician poured 2 shot glasses for each of us. The idea was to see if we could see which one was the more expensive. We came back in and sipped each commented on the flavors and made our picks. The assholes had put 2 shots of Wisers in front of the I.T. guy and 2 shots of Pendleton in front of me….They laughed their assses off.
I had to admit it was pretty clever.

True story, my folks had many gallons of whiskey in their bar. I never saw my dad drink a drop, not once, and mom had a small sip once in awhile. However, my dad would FREAK if when he asked someone if they wanted a drink they agreed. Not so visibly that they could tell, but I could, and heard about it afterwards.
When we were cleaning out their house, all that whiskey was still sitting there. Gave away what we could, my sister took a bunch, and the rest got dumped.
The moral of this story is be good to one another and whiskey is easily replaced.

Oh the stories my wife could tell. When my grandmother (mom’s mum) died (I was in med school and begged borrowed and stealed to go to funeral), during the viewing he invited everyone over to the house afterwards for some KFC and adult beverages. I am not kidding you there were a dozen cases of US beer that he had picked up at duty free that were up to fifteen years old in the cold room, and maybe six cans of beer in the fridge. As soon as we (mom, dad, sister, my wife, and I) got home he started ranting about how all these people were coming over to eat HIS food and drink HIS beer. In the end only about a half dozen people showed up and he was a milquetoast host. When the six beers in the fridge ran out, one of my cousins ran down to the liquor store (no beer sales in grocery stores at that time) to get some more and my wife said quietly in the kitchen – isn’t there like 300+ cans in the cold room – shushed with laser eyes.
Later, after company left, she said in casual conversation, why didn’t you want anyone to drink your archived beer. Oh baby.
Keep in mind this is how I was raised. Very odd.

I can’t think of another recent HC for any team that has taken so many public hits from players and others after getting let go (other than maybe the guy from the Dolphins that’s suing the league…sounded like a lot of their players didn’t get along with him). Maybe it’s just because I pay more attention to the Vikings than other teams, but there seems to be a lot more that went on behind the scenes than anyone realized.

Greasy Adolf’s moves to trade for high draft picks that have failed miserably is an interesting one. I expect he thinks the problem is attitude and coaching, thinking rosie oconnel can change these physically gifted failures into successful players. Does anyone know if there is a precedent for this? Have there been physically gifted 1/2 rd failures who have become exceptionally good after a change of team in the last 10 years? Could it just be attitude and coaching?
It will be intriguing to watch them develop, if they do. It could be an excellent starategery, being very selective on your choices of physically gifted athletes who have not lived up to their pre draft hype. Hopefully they realize they are getting a second chance, mature a bit and make the best of their opportunity.
If they can turn these 2 kids around in the next year it could be the huge boost we need to turn this franchise around by 24.

Not really mad, I don’t put that kind of emotion into entertainment. It would be hilarious in a way because it would give false hope to a lot of fans, only to have it snuffed out later. How we win would kinda tell the tale too.
That’s a really good question. Probably not because I do not see this team having the talent, not even close on defense, to compete at all this season. Being 4-2 at the bye would just mean a more dramatic failure later in the season. In order to be 4-2 we would have had to be exceptionally lucky on injuries and bounces of the ball, both which seem to even out over time.
Eventually we will still end up with 6-9 wins and a shitty draft position. Too many times we have started well and then completely fallen off a cliff, wallowing in mediocrity once again.

Idk honestly. My hopes and expectations are irrelevant, so I don’t have much of either this season. I am optimistic we will get better and some of the young guys will develop well. Seeing growth in the individual players is what to look for this season. Along w/learning the new scheme from the new coaches. O connel has a lot to learn too, so we will see. As far as record goes, I really don’t hope one way or another. As you pointed out though, the worse our record the better for the future of the team. So if people are hoping win win a bunch of games and fail again, does that mean they are hoping we do worse in the future?

My nephews are 4 and almost 5 and iv been playing with them when I visit them. I had tons as a kid, played with them until I was like 12, got models for Christmas, super fun and a good way to waste time.
I built a lego table with shelves for my kiddo, has room for two stools so we can build together. Great times.
Great idea. I seriously think it helps develop creativity in kids and problem solving, following directions once they get old enough to make the models/sets. Underrated product but damn are they pricey these days.
