Wow, busy day yesterday. A billion kudos to Mick for keeping up the roster cut tracker, as that was a lot of activity to track. The Vikings are now down to their final 53, which puts them in compliance with the league rules. This does not mean that the team is done making moves. As a matter of fact, it sure seems like they’re preparing to make a significant move of some sort. The Vikings cleared about $4 million in additional cap space yesterday, and the rumors about potential trade targets have been flying around the Twitters-phere. Names like Suh, Raegor, and Beckham Jr. have all been connected to talks with the Vikings. Time will tell whether any of these rumors become reality.
It is encouraging that the new Vikings front office doesn’t seem content to just stand-pat, so let’s hope they can find ways to improve the team. A Wasilla man driving a motorcycle away from police at speeds of over 100 mph early Sunday morning hit a moose and died, Wasilla police said.
According to the Wasilla Police Department blotter, 36-year-old David Nagl of Wasilla died shortly after Wasilla police attempted to pull him over at the intersection of East Bogard Road and North Peck Street.
“Nagl turned west on Seldon Road, and continued eluding until he and the motorcycle impacted a moose at a speed estimated to be in excess of 100 mph near the intersection of N Jasper Driver,” police wrote. “Nagl was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Wasilla police wrote that they attempted to pull Nagl over at 3:55 a.m. on Aug. 28 “for speeding, failing to stop for a stop light, failing to signal, and driving off the roadway while navigating a right turn.”

Really comes down to our defense. If we can stop the run and be fast sideline to sideline on screens and dump offs to the RB’s we should be fine. I’m not worried about a deep threat from them. Our offense has their work cut out against their defense.

STRENGTHS
Jalen is a very smart, fast, quick, strong, acrobatic catching receiver. His ability to explode quickly is dramatic and his ability to catch the ball in any situation is dramatic also. You don’t have to worry about separation with this kid because he knows HOW to run routes by changing gears and using his quickness and NOT just relying on his speed. He has good size and is tough and his run after the catch skills is excellent because of his vision and balance and lateral explosion. He has excellent hands, using strength and force when it is needed and softness when it is called upon like an Artist who creates sculptures. Jalen can be used inside because of his quickness and on the outside because of his speed. He will be able to help the team that selects him the day after the draft at any receiver position because of his route running skills, speed, quickness, and overall high football intelligence to run routes by changing gears to get open.
CONCERNS
Some teams will downgrade Jalen for one reason and one reason only, his size, it’s only average. Not me, I look strictly at talent to compete because as a profiler and not an analyst, I know that talent to compete, comes in all sizes and that size is not a deciding factor unless that person doesn’t have the talent.

I had little confidence that ISM would ever be more than a WR4, and there’s a reason they didn’t have him returning punts/kickoffs in the regular season.

That sounds right. I think it is just over 2M salary next year, but they could trade him for a 7th and have 0 cap hit. If he has any production this year and they want to move on for some reason, somebody will give up at least a 6th or 7th for a former 1st round pick. Depending on the offset language in his contract, even if they cut him they might not be on the hook for the entire 2M contract if he is signed by another team.

This ^ Having bad blind side protection is one thing, but getting beat up the middle and having someone in Kirks lap every time he drops back is bad. Thats how the few teams that do do it, beat Tom Brady, pressure up the middle. If it can throw off Brady, its gonna really mess with Kirk. I like our weapons and skill positions, I really do, but we are far from perfect and we still have weaknesses that need to be addressed.

Not super shocked but still a shocker in a way. ISM looked super uncomfortable catching punts and ISM is scared to get hit in the middle of the field. He’s solid on the outside, but everytime he had to go to middle he dropped balls bc he’s always looking where the DB is. Think he was somewhat skiddish
