The Game: Offense
The Vikings-Jets game was pretty much what I expected. Kirk was off from the start, but came back and managed to do enough, it wasn’t a stellar night overall. Dalvin seemed to be getting yards, but wasn’t used as much as I expected him to be used. The running backs accounted for the first two touchdowns, and the third was a brilliant throw by Kirk to JJ in the end zone.
The Game: DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
The defense looked okay in the first half, and worse in the second half. Going into the half up by fourteen, and getting the ball first coming out of the half, you just knew the Vikings were going to let the Jets back in it. We KNEW it was coming, there was no doubt, and sure enough, that’s what happened. The Vikings defense performed very well in the red zone, as they have over the past couple weeks. Mick pointed out that they’ve allowed only one touchdown in 9 red zone opponent visits over the past two weeks.
Greg Joseph had a great game yesterday., he hit every field goal attempt and extra point. Wright hit the ball well, and coverage teams seemed to do their job.
The Game: SUMMARY
At the end of it all, the Vikings got a win against a good opponent. The Minnesota Vikings are now ten and two on the year, and have all but wrapped up the NFC North. We don’t get years like this very often, so I’m going to enjoy it. This is fun, ain’t it? SKOL!!!!!!!

Those of you that did watch the game yesterday, did you find yourself standing up and saying “alright this is it boys” on two plays? The 4th down at the goal line where we stopped them and took over on downs and then the final int by Bynum.
If anything this year has been entertaining in the sense they’ve really come together and said someone make a play and all 11 guys believe and execute. It’s a pretty amazing thing to watch.

yeah that drive was reminiscent of the last few years when Kirk and the offense would go in to 2 minute hurry up mode and just execute down the field.
Florio’s take this week was yet again they find a way to bend not break and if it’s a close game that as we’ve seen is a disadvantage for the opposition and a strength for the Vikings. He said he believes, based on our two losses, a team has to blow us out early and just take away any chance of us hanging around to win in the end as the eagles and cowboys did.
He also said he believes 100% that’s what will happen in the post season, one of these teams will curb stomp us and leave no doubt and blow us out. He also said we haven’t played a perfect game yet and that’s what it will take likely 2-3 times to make the SB, he says there’s improvements to be found in the offense with the lauls we’ve had like in the 3rd qtr yesterday. Of course on defense a lot to be desired in a few areas.
This team doesn’t have 2-3 tries.…. Maybe 2 but 3 is a stretch.

Didn’t watch the game Sunday, looked like a typical Vikings win this season right? Based off the stats I would have thought the Vikings lose but it looks like from the play by play the defense tightened up in the red zone and the offense made just enough plays when they had to.

I find it weird too, Kirk was a top ten QB in stats last year and the Vikings suck, this year overall he is not and the team is top 2 in record. He’s played his best at critical moments but overall isn’t putting up the bulk stats. I’ll take this Kirk but remain the right to bitch when he doesn’t play well in the postseason and they lose.

Yeah that was a miss but also lets credit a good defense for that qtr of ineptitude. They came out determined to get back in to the game and they did. Damn good team and cousins battled like a warrior. He took a beating and kept stepping in to throws. Toughest QB playing the game right now.

Z and Hicks are old and last year of deals are next year. So, I’d get a young qb to coincide with that. On offense you liklely lose turdberry, cook, mattison, thelen and ham.

Cine’s injury is actually easier to come back from than a traditional ACL tear fwiw. That’s why he’s already jogging and stuff. He didn’t look good prior to injury though, so likely still ends up a bust. Just saying regarding the injury. Booth is likely the guy to write off as an injury bust though. Horrible pick.
Both are busts IMO. Cine will never be the same, and Booth was horrid pick I hated from day 1.

Safety and CBs take a bit longer in the NFL to develop, and I think Cine would have gotten there. His injury wasn’t really the type that was predictable. So I don’t think I say he was a bad selection. We just got unlucky there. Hopefully he can get back on the field.
Booth had a history of injury, and was hurt a good chunk of the season. He also looked lost when he did make it onto the field. Now he is out for the season with an injury. This was a bad pick.
KAM’s free agent signing of Hock and Z. Smith were great moves though.
Evans looked ok Preconcussion yesterday. Ingram has been improving…

If there’s someone there that they’re sold on, then sure. I’m all for it. Finding a franchise guy is huge, and you have the luxury of letting him learn under Kirk for a year before throwing him into the fire.
Who do you target? NDSU doesn’t have any QBs declaring this year, so you have to settle for someone from a lesser program. Young, Williams, Stroud? Who’s worth giving up a bunch of high picks?
Levis, Richardson, Stroud all in the mix too. Rattler was drafted last year. Not sure who williams is?

We’re essentially 2 games out of the first seed. Agreed, they could still get the 1 seed, but it’s unlikely. They all but have the 2 seed locked in. Unless the Eagles hit a snag, that one seed is difficult.
If there are guys like Z Smith & Darrisaw who need a week or two off to get to 100%, it’s getting close to time to consider doing it before they re-aggravate something and end up missing the playoffs.

I think GF meant Darrisaw and Z Smith specifically, as in the players missing or being limited in the playoffs (due to injury), and not the team missing the playoffs entirely.
