We’re trudging through another work week, with bits and pieces of news trickling out of training camp. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it sure seems like there’s been less training camp news this year than there has been in recent years. Maybe I’m wrong, or maybe the new regime keeps a tighter lid on things. Who knows? What I do know is that the Vikings’ first preseason game is merely days away, as they face off against the Raiders on Sunday, with kickoff at 3:25 pm CDT.

GF – I was thinking about the complaints of non-football topics being a detractor for this site, wondering if there was something that could be done to easily identify a football comment.
On the DN comments turned purple after so many likes, and here we have new comments show up yellowish and turn white after you view them
Is it possible to choose your background color when you add a new comment? If we’re posting a football comment we could select a purple-ish background to set it off from daily life topics – all other topics would remain the standard color background.
That way, people who don’t want to read non-football comments could easily skip over them or hide the replies.

If you’re familiar with Lake Link fishing reports, maybe something like that, where when you submit a comment a box pops up and asks “Is this a football comment Y/N” after you hit post.

The more rules you have, the more moderation has to be done. While I do get tired of some of the extreme opinions occasionally, it is easy to skip past them (or skip past a person). If the hide a comment or thread option was more robust, that might help. Also as we get into the actual season there will be more football and less other stuff from most people (probably not from me as I enjoy the other stuff more that the football talk).

I love having an open thread that allows all conversation, but I understand those who would rather avoid politics/religion, etc. So, there has to be a solution where everyone gets what they want, just have to figure that out, merely brainstorming at this point.
The main issue is that in the off-l season there is so little to talk about football-wise that there must be fillers…
I always want the open thread to stay how it is, open. I think there are ways to offer other options, too. Maybe a second thread with a different name, maybe just more content is the answer, maybe…….who knows? Gotta be a simple solution.

I envisioned football comments to be the different color, since some people want to read them only and not the other things discussed.
So, only 2 categories – football comments, and everything else. That way a person can scroll through the comments and read only purple ones if they choose.
GF is completely correct, as the season starts the football content will increase and the other stuff will decline a bit.

Sure am, but I need to run more consistently if I want to approach my personal best times. I ran a half marathon in an hour & 40 minutes, and ran my 10K in 42 minutes back in the day. I couldn’t get anywhere near those times now. Ran the half in 2 hours & 8 minutes in June. Sucky time, but was just happy to run another one.

I’m trying to get my 10K down under an hour. That is the first goal. I was close today. 1:00:28. Did my five-mile in 48:48.
I’m not fast, but I’m improving, and whenever I get annoyed with my times, I just look around and see that I’m the only one out there, so my times are better than all of the people who didn’t show up.

How do I add a profile picture, edit info, etc?
There should be a setting page where you can edit this info. Changing your profile picture is a little tricky bc you have to use a secondary website.
There’s instructions that were posted on one of the first threads created on here. I’ll see if I can find it.
if you get to the profile page and follow the instructions it’s not hard but if you aren’t super tech savvy it may be complicated

The profile pic thing is a pain, I’m going to ask them about that, too. For now, I think you have to log out, then when you log back in, there will be a place where you can add the profile pic. Something like that. Sorry I’m not much help, my menu looks much different. Maybe someone else can give you better info.
Logout and then come back in. Once you get back to the login screen, click on “Login into your account” BEFORE you click the “Log In” button.
It’s weird.
Clicking the “Log In” button after you click on “Login into your account” will then take you to your “profile” page. If you scroll down, you will see a spot to add a profile picture, which will take you on another minor journey, but it is doable.

Told him then I would quit until I could have a beer with him on his 21st birthday if he did not drink until then.
Even though he caved since, college. I stayed booze free until he turned 21.
I will say, the craft beer industry changed a TON from 2002-2012
I quit in 2007, stayed quit until 2014. Started again that year, then spent the next 7 years trying to quit, finally got there in May of last year. Not looking back again.
