Ingram is showing promise but to me it’s still just practice. That said, IF he ends up actually being good, the O-line might actually rank higher than the bottom 5 in the league.
Extrapolating further, that could mean the passing game becomes not just good, but prolific.
It’s of interest to watch.
Sadly, the oline is only as strong as it’s weakest link. It seems they are getting there and 4/5 may be average or better. The fact is Turdbury will still stink it up and defenses will key on him knowing he’s bad. While 80% do their jobs that one weak link will likely keep us bottom 10, which is still a great improvement over bottom 3. Baby steps. It will take some time to turn the shitshow around but it could happen.
I think, based off his being the highest rated sec guard and his tape of having a legitimately strong anchor, we might have a legitimate average to above average guard potential in Ingram. That said we heard this hype before get in to the regular season and they turn into turtle turnstile penalty machines. Fingers crossed but he seems legit.

Beaker plays great some of the time, he has his strong points and his weak points, every once in a while he completely sharts up a game, but so do all qbs. It will be fun to see how he does w/the wokings regime. Only 20% of the oline will completely suck until injuries, it sounds like, so he might have a chance to suck less. The new offense will be telltale on how he does. He has loads of talent at wr and rb, so it’s all on him to do or die again.

I love the joint practices, much more interesting and more energy than a regular practice. Lance is one of the young QB’s I’m looking forward to watching this season. It was really classy of the Vikings to bus up people from his hometown. Encouraged by the report on the Vikings OL.

Yeah, I paged back to see what injury Lifer had (pretty decent stitch job, make sure you do some hand OT once the stitches are out to keep ROM) and read the predictable exchange. I even got mentioned (for the record we bought a 5200 square foot home out of fellowship for 570 and all our hopes and dreams of friends and family coming to stay came to naught – was a mistake in retrospect but ya know DDD – lot of the young’uns coming up are paying 3x that and getting twice the square footage).
We (wife) live in 800 sq ft now but will eventually if he ever shows up add on 1200 additional. My wife loves the ease of cleaning and upkeep. We had a good time (honestly) pulling wire last night, with her helping push it through the purlins and me up on the lift. Love having our own little isolated piece of paradise.
3600 for 4 young kids seems reasonable to me.
It’s neat how it’s all laid out…. Only wafted space in the whole house is between the stud walls. There’s a closet or cubby or nook everywhere.

We live in a third of a shop, 20×40, our “shouse” or “barndominium”
Looks like this inside, maybe a little more furniture and appliances now, but just a one room studio, bed out in the open, small bathroom, one toilet.
Seems perfect for a couple w/o any brats living with them. You have storage over the condo in the shed side right? I can see needing more shed, but not more house. 1200 more square feet for what?
Right now if we entertain our bed is sitting right there in God’s country. My office with a full workstation is up in the loft (storage as you call it), no a/c so it can get warm up against the ceiling plus I can’t stand upright.
The addition will be two bedrooms, one which will double as my office, and two bathrooms, one off the master suite and the other for the second bedroom which will be for guests so they don’t have to troop over to the current bathroom in the studio and fart three feet from the couch.
The master bathroom will have my super toilet which I have sitting all wrapped in bubble wrap waiting for the day I can spray my behind in warm gentle waters. You should look into one, might cure your irascible outlook.

I’m here to tell you that women somehow know when you have to use the bathroom because they are always in there doing something. One bathroom sucks.
I had a good friend raise 2 boys and 2 girls in a 900 sq ft house built in the 20’s. Found a toilet/sewer connection in the unfinished rock basement. Put a toilet in right in the middle of the one room open basement, so he could poop in peace. lol
Septic systems usually designed based on bedrooms. Yours will still basically be one bedroom so no worries.
I honestly use the bathroom rarely when living remote. When my kids were little they would get back to town and whip it out in the WalMart parking lot and not understand why they can’t pee there. I haven’t pissed in a toilet in months and only dump there when I can’t make it to the o.h. without pulling a beaker.
Was having issues w/my septic last year and bought superbugs from a company up here. Designed for cold weather septic systems. Once a week when around and haven’t had an issue all year w/9 people here most of the last month. People use a lot of tp. On the boat I have changed the rules and tp is no longer allowed in the marine head. Too many folks use too much paper and wad it up clogging the system. One time in 6″ of turd water is more than plenty.
3600 sq ft is still a really big house relative to an average house a generation ago. 5200 is a DDD symptom. I’m moving into a 26 foot trailer for the winter. Back to like when I was young and lived in the original tiny houses in the 80’s

All I can say is back in the day they were dumb. My stepson moved into his grandparent’s house where they raised 4 kids (three girls) and they must have been right around 1000 sq ft with one bathroom. Just imagine. He was a contractor so not sure what he was thinking not building it larger. Of course stepson tripled the size prior to having two kids, although he did a lot of the work himself.
Of course, framing and drywall make things easier these days. Better insulation. More efficient heat.

You need to go to a cabin for vacation some year when the kids are older so they can use an out house for a week. It will make them appreciate running water. Maybe a camping trip for a couple weeks w/no running water or electricity.

That’s what I’m talking about. 1000-1200 sq ft and raised 4,6 or 8 kids. Lucky if you had a second bathroom in the basement. Garages were separate building w/o heat. Now everyone is spoiled and expects huge homes even though they can’t afford them.
What’s weird to me are these ginormous master bedrooms which take up half the house and then no room for office, freezers, pantries, and have a tiny living room.
I lived in an 8×10 trailer my first and only winter in Fairbanks.

We don’t hate the team, we just have realistic expectations based on the previous season and offseason moves. We are currently ranked around 22nd which seems realistic until injuries wipe us out. There are around ten teams we could conceivably beat if everything goes well. Fortunately (or not) we play some of them several times.
As far as never knowing what can/will happen, I use to be that way until 75. I’m still waiting to be shocked by the team. This season will not be shocking.
Other teams have injuries too ya know. Quite a few teams have put guys on IR already.
Yep, and we were really lucky last season with below average injuries. The Lions were not. Expect more injuries for our offense and the Lions to be much improved. We can no longer expect to win those 2 games as we demonstrated last season.

So basically you know we will suck but won’t openly accept it until it is inevitable.
The point my good fellow is ones ability to protects ones emotional wellbeing.
Someone with a strong sense of self and emotional intelligence can hope for a great season, have their fucking heart ripped out and say “Oh well maybe next year.” This individual is boarder line crazy but amazingly well adjusted.
Someone also with a strong sense of self but takes things personally and is lacking in emotional intelligence has in the past hoped, gotten burned, and now harbors an ill will and hate so deep they actually hope for more pain and suffering for all who have hope because they themselves cannot muster the will to trust any longer. Not crazy but narcissistic at varying levels.

I’m 99%+ confident that we’ll be saying things like “it takes time for a new coach to establish culture” in January, optimistically pointing to the season’s bright spots as reason for hope in 2023.
If we keep drafting the way greasy adolf did this last time we will continue to get worse every year while other teams get better. We need talent and new starters. Getting 2 starters per draft won’t cut it. We need 4-5, especially when drafting at 12. If we draft at 18-20 it will be even worse.
Most reports I read on the first practice squad game seemed to think we looked as bad as last season. General disappointment everywhere.

It’s no secret that good qbs make their oline look better than they are. Correct reads and getting rid of the ball fast helps.
This is true with one caveat… if the receivers aren’t available to throw to when the QB wants to get the ball out quickly then he is stuck. For most of his 20 year career with New England Brady lived by a simple principle – 1,2,3, the ball is out. He said overtly in watching Favre play he noticed whenever the ball wasn’t out quickly bad things tended to happen. To that end he always had underneath routes or flat routes available and the receivers were always good at getting separation quickly.
The qb being able to read the defense and knowing who will be open and where is the key to getting rid of the ball and making the oline and receivers look good.
Certainly that is true. However, if the QB reads the defense and knows where he needs to with the ball the receiver STILL needs to beat the coverage. Else the ball cannot come out quickly.
Yes, but a good qb will know who will beat the coverage and where they will be based on the defense and play called. This is exactly why audibles are used.
As a side note… apparently the new Viking scheme has many receiver options on every play, so that will slow down the decision making of the QB.
