Merry Monday, everyone!
Alright, I’m still on vacation, but I’m finally at a place where I am able to access wifi. I can’t express enough thanks to Skoldiers and Mick for taking care of the thread while I was mostly unable to access the site.
Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth is an absolute joy for anyone who hasn’t been before. I’m sure it’s a pain in the butt for residents, but it sure is a fun run to be a part of. Kudos to the city of Duluth for handling the 20,000+ runners and all the additional people who flock to the city for the marathon. I ran the half-marathon, and I did okay. I was a half-hour slower than what I ran the last time I ran one of these, but my last one was ten years ago, and I did not train for this one at all. Going in, I figured if I ran it in under 2 hours & 30 minutes, I’d be satisfied. I finished with a time of 2 hours & 8 minutes, so I guess I’m satisfied.
Happy belated Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. We perform a mostly thankless function, so if you haven’t done so, take a second to pat yourself on the back…….then get back to work. The picture up top is a pic of the card my son picked out for me for Father’s Day. I know it’s a birthday card, but he thought it was the perfect card for me, and he’s right. Much appreciated, buddy. I have a hilarious and embarassing story to go along with that picture, but I’ll save it for the comments. Sheesh.

So, I am terrible at that game, but have been playing a lot. Finally broke 100 for the first time ever yesterday. Stopped paying attention after getting a 12 on one hole, but kept logging scores on the app. Lots of bogeys, only the one really bad hole.
I can stop keeping score now and just enjoy the game. Maybe.
Find a long par 3, easier on body and mind.
Par 3s are the worst. I like par 5s
Well I share your pain but its a game of failure not success, that’s what we typically fail to recognize. We go out to golf focused on how well we are going to do when in reality we should be focused on how bad we will do and how we might reduce the level of failure. Try a round playing ultra conservative, club down don’t take risky shots you rarely execute, focus on where to miss shots before you take them and avoid the places you just cannot miss it into. Guaranteed you’ll score lower. Might be not using the driver at all, hit 3 wood, hybrid or iron whatever you hit straight the best.
Good news, apparently this site has earned enough internet cred that I can log in from work now. Not sure if anybody else is/was having the same issue.
I am still having that issue on my work computer, but, luckily I have access to a personal laptop that I can access every now and then.

Busy this week. Headed to Cleveland Friday – Monday for my nieces grad party.

The picture up top, it isn’t the original. I took the first pic yesterday morning. I had just showered, & the card was on the bed, so I read it & took a picture of it because I thought it was pretty cool. Well, then I sent the pic to some friends. After sending, something caught my eye in the photo. I looked more closely, and saw……..my dick. Yep, ol’ one eye decided to photo bomb the picture. Can’t un-send texts. Thankfully, I’d only sent it to 2 groups. I’ll obviously NEVER hear the end of this from those people. Fucking face palm.

We were in Osceola last weekend which is just down the road a piece from Taylors Falls.
Duluth is a cool city. We hit Copper Falls after the run on Saturday, beautiful.
It was cold as hell in Duluth later in the morning on Saturday. It was nice until about 8:00, then it got cold & windy. The walk back to the motel was a bastard.

I left the lake Saturday… it’s was mid 70s and hit home and it was 59.
And that’s only 15 miles
The “feels like” temp at around 8:30 was 49. That shit is cold when you’re drenched in sweat.
