That’s right, training camp is upon us, and with it, a WHOLE bunch of overreaction to meaningless plays made during day one of training camp. So far, we know that Cousins is washed up and should retire, while Booth Jr. is a first-ballot hall-of-famer and should be enshrined immediately. Am I doing this right? After all, I heard that Booth intercepted Cousins yesterday.

So reads and progressions are somewhat a dictated thing. For instance, you’re seeing press man with a safety over the top and the OC’s direction is “pass that up immediately (say no to it) and move on to your next progression.” This is how coaching works, and over time a QB understands the “norm” (baseline of what OC’s in general want). Keep in mind the QB’s first job is to protect the football. KOC is seeing how Cousins runs an offense and instructing him on what he wants which obviously in this case is different than what Cousins has done for many years. One thing about taking more chances with the ball though. The only one who suffers when taking that chance results in a turnover is Cousins. Not the receiver, not the OC, not the GM or HC, just Cousins. So when he throws a 50/50 ball up and the other team comes down with it, remember the instructions he’s getting. He’s not going to say no on a progression and move on. He’s going to make a risky throw that could end up being intercepted.
PK and Jim Miller talked about some of the progression stuff a few weeks ago, and particularly in relation to Cousins. Miller was responding to a Viking fan complaining about Cousins (imagine that) and how Cousins doesn’t go through a progression and misses open receivers. His main point is that based on the defensive formation, the QB is actually going through some of the progression before the ball is even snapped. Some of the missed open receivers could be that the way the last few OCs have designed and trained their systems the defensive alignment made Cousins move past the receiver before the ball was even snapped. Not saying that is what’s happened, but it is an interesting take from somebody who played in the league and not just internet all pros. Either way, I am not sold on him until he shows he has learned how to properly run a grill. He should probably hire ABG for some classes.

It was last night. I ate one too many pieces of Seattle chocolate, but it was good. Both bands are actually still really good. I am not a huge Sublime fan, but they impressed.
I like a few Sublime songs and Incubus has some bangers. I think I would have enjoyed it as well. I like live music, as long as the singers can still nail it.
The singer from Incubus does a great job. Sublime is easier to sing since they’re more laid back, but the dude from Incubus rocked it hard.

Had a bit of a scare last night. Mowing the lawn around 7 and I’m down to the last strip in the back yard. I can taste the beer waiting to be cracked in about 3 minutes. Suddenly something bites my ankle, thought it an ant that crawled up my foot and naturally slap at the spot, then it happens in rapid succession like 3 more times around that foot, them my knee, hip, head several times, jaw, and arm. By the time I felt the hip I could tell these sumbitches were airborne and as I’m swatting around at the air and running around in the yard I can tell they’re yellow jackets, finally run in the house and I’m sweating profusely, completely winded, heart beating like crazy, veins felt ready to explode. Laid on the cold basement floor for a couple minutes till I caught my breath, my head was tingly and itchy so I went to get some Benadryl only to find we were out, went over to the next door neighbors, great people, they gave me some, chewed it swigged a glass of water and sat down for about 15 minutes and just as I started to calm down and start to kinda relax my eyelids and lips started swelling and nasal passage swelled shut, neighbor drove me to the ER about 5 mins away, immediately taken in and given a shot of adrenaline and steroids, sat with an IV for about an hour then went home. Pretty terrifying experience.

Yikes. Guess we have those in ND too. I honestly think I had a small nest under my apple tree in my front yard where the lawn completely died from the drought last summer. They liked eating the dead apples that fell. I think after I cleaned up the apples they peaced out. Never had to mow until October because the grass never grew.

I hate those nasty things. Did they have a ground nest? I had an experience with those one time, but did escape the whole getting stung thing. I filled their nest with wasp spray after that.
We had a ground nest last year, fuckers got me when I stepped on the paver they were nested under. Tried spraying it & killing them, didn’t work. Had to eventually call an exterminator.

Same thing happen to my wife walking in a field here in NC. Not a swarm, single sting, fine for like 24hrs no issues then a day later huge hives all over her body and her airway started swelling shut. There can be delayed reactions fyi. So EPI-Pen life for us now. Also if you didnt know, if you use your EPI you have to go to the ER afterwards to ensure there’s no issue post shot from it. Yeah guess all that is better than dying.

i am afraid of bees for sure, so this just gives me the willlies hearing about it.
I remember when I was like 11 my dad got into his truck in summer and window was down. He sat down and I hear this “ouch!”. I knew what it was as I had just saw one of those huge bumble bees buzzing around. I laughed and he looked at me and said “what’s so god dman funny?!”. I’ll never forget that or my mom using a tweezers on his butt to get he stinger out.
I can count/feel 14 sting sites, though I don’t know how many times each stung me as they can apparently quickly sting repeatedly unlike bees.
Nasty fuckers get you from both ends – they sting the shit out of you while biting you too.

I’ve done that too. Pint of gas, couple tablespoons of oil. Middle of the night, pour down the hole, wait 20-30 seconds, light the sucker and RUN.

Damn. Glad you got into the house. Once they start stinging they douse you with pheromones and can track you if you just run away. They are no joke. My parents were playing golf with another couple, they guy hit his ball in to the woods and went in to look for it, stirred up a ground nest. He died right there.
Best thing to do is cautiously find the nest opening, mark it – watch from a distance to see if there is a second opening. Wait until about 2-3am for it to cool down and all of them will be in the nest. Use a can of wasp/hornet spray – the stuff that expands – and shoot it down the hole, then put a heavy board or something to block them in,
I had to do that last year – I only got 3 stings on my ankles, so I can’t imagine how bad you got it.
I left the mower exactly where Ieft it as a landmark. I already scheduled pest control to come and take care of it as according to the Doc there is a strong chance I’ll have the anaphylactic response if stung again even if its only one or two stings, I’ll be carrying an epipen the rest of my life.

When they got me, I got one sting on the ankle before I realized what was going on, thought I’d be smart and moved the running mower directly over top of the hole. Woulda worked, too, if it hadn’t been for all the ones returning to the nest………..
Now I have a wire attached to the mower so if it happens again I can wrap the wire around the throttle to keep it running while I run away.

I stumbled into a bumblebee hive as a kid, and they chased me all the way to the house, stinging all the way. I remember looking down on my hand as I ran, and a bumblebee was perched on the end of my finger and stinging it over and over.
Getting into a hive of anything that stings is a bad day. Glad you had people nearby who could get you to the ER.

So, coincidentally, right after reading this I went outside as a wasp/hornet nest was on my underpart of my roof. I sprayed them with water and knocked their nest down a few days ago and they tried to rebuild. I sprayed again this am and then stomped and crushed most of them. They tried to build back better like traitor with the same effect.

I once shot a BB gun a wasp nest way up in the peak of a granary roof as a kid. I was like twenty yards away from the base of the building. One wasp came out. It hovered a moment and zoom! Flew on a line straight at me and stung me on the neck.
I was always amazed at how it came out, identified me as the threat that fast even though I was a good distance away and went right for me.

OMG, Ben, that is terrifying. Glad you had friends that could get you to the ER. I hate bees. I’ve only been stung once in my life (wasp), but needed Benadryl for that. My daughter and I keep both adult and children’s Benadryl (and bee spray) in the house at all times as she and the grands are allergic to mosquito bites.
If I’d have been thinking clearer I would have remembered we have a couple bottles of childrens benedryl in the kitchen.

Every routing is rough, the dude throws 70 to 85 pitches in 4 innings every outing. That experiment was a bust.
He doesn’t have any other options, you can’t pitch the same 3 relievers every night and with the starting rotation he’s been give with guys who can only pitch 4 maybe 5 innings like Archer he has to use all the bullpen guys. The FO is to blame for sure as they were stupid to trade Rodgers.

I am not sure if you have followed the team closely since the end of May, but they are dog shit. They are 5 games under .500 since then. Im trying not to snap but if I read the excuse of “they are leading the division” one more time im going to break something. Correct, leading the worst division in baseball is not a good thing. They have 4 good pitchers on the entire roster, starters and BP. Thats it, 4. They wont be leading the division after this next series and they wont be above .500. Same shit, different year. Its a shame too because they have a top 10 offense and a average to above average defense.
