Think it’s a bit of the “starvation rule.”
My grandparents grew up in the depression and never got enough to eat – especially meats. Later in life, they had two freezers in the basement and ever time they saw a sale for chickens and roasts, they filled them up. They were never going hungry again.
Seems some of these teams have had poor QB play for a while, and they are going to stock up.
That is the same rational my mom used for having a closet full of shoes.

This is the third year for KAM and KOC. They’ve had time to “gel”. The team is transformed. Cook, Thielen, Hendricks, Barr, Hunter, Cousins, etc, etc, etc are all gone. This is the team they built. Hoping the Vikings win no less than 11 games this year with the entrenched regime.
11 games is optimistic IMHO.
I hope it happens between improved defense and ‘good enough’ QB play.
The long term future looks brighter given a QBOTF and better financials.

Wouldn’t complain.
a left field take that will agree with team improvement in one sense but not so much on wins and losses.
Believe Darnold/Mullens (JJ is learning) can run our offense well. Also believe the defense will be improved with second year in the scheme and picked players. Maybe overall, a better team.
The problem is the other guys. Packers and Lions were already on solid grounds and will only get better. The Bears, if Williams is ‘half’ what his billing says, are going to be a lot better. So, we could well be an improved team and end up last in the division (betting lines seem to follow this line of thinking.).
Each year in the NFL is a crapshoot.
If the Loins or FTP have the injuries or the turnovers we did last year they won’t compete for the division.
I agree we maybe better and have less wins, if they play hard and keep improving while JJ matures I will take that as a victory.
I’ve learned from reading here there are no ‘moral victories’.
True, injuries and turnovers happen. But all things being equal, at the end of the day it’s about talent. Just saying – what’s ours versus the other guys’.

At this point not quite sure what to ‘wish’ for. Always want improvement, but must admit like winning games.

I hope they go undefeated, I believe they will win 7-8ish games and maybe finish last or second to last in the division, and I would totally be okay with that. I have expectations of making a legit run in 2025 between how the roster is still being shaped and the amount of cap space we will have for FAs come this time next year. Either way, future is bright.
It is a season of laying in the weeds. Down cycle. We will lose four to Packers and Lions alone. It is their world for now. We are playing for 2026-2029. Nail a couple more drafts between now and then ideally. 8 wins is their ceiling IMO.
With 3 picks currently in the 2025 they won’t be ‘nailing the draft’.

Yes there is. If they score a big time pick in the first round and comp pick 3rd, that’s a win with only 4 picks. Don’t forget there’s not going to be a ton of holes after FA next year I would assume.
They are still paying a lot of money on a Kirk contract done by Rick. This year is just the beginning of their roster, next time year is when they solidify that.

I consider any Woke/Fashion/Hollywood/Relationship posts to be ‘not news’ and ignore it to the best of my abilities.
I don’t recall getting any Hard News links in any of my Apple Alerts on my phone so now I just ignore them. Not interested enough to try to figure out how to turn them off as I only get them about once a day.
Overall, the Vikings got two players (McCarthy and Turner) with a strong potential to be really good in this draft. That’s a good way to start 2024. Khyree Jackson could also get there eventually and be a solid player. So, we done good with the two first rounders and the fourth rounder in my opinion. The rest of the players are all “maybes” and “probably nots” but we’ll see if there are any diamonds in the rough. I’m not going to pore over 17 UDFA’s. I’ll wait to see what happens. My overall grade right now is an “A”.
After looking at interviews and stories of the 6th/7th/UDFAs it looks like they went looking for Gems rather than highly rated players. They got smart, hard working, high quality guys who play football rather than guys who play football first.
Saw one clip where scouts/personnel types were bringing KAM video clips of different guys and recommending them. Given late rounders and UDFA I am interested in seeing who sticks out from the group.
Here is the video I referenced, KAM starts talking about the ‘Day 3 Process’ at about the 4:50 mark.
Still basking in the euphoria of having a QBOTF/Long term less expensive QB on the roster.
I know there will be growing pains, but I really expect good things.

Well, honestly, we took a number of steps backwards at the QB position from a talent perspective, but yes, we are saving money. I do agree that, from a fiscal perspective, KAM did the right thing.
Agreed but between the $$ savings and hope on JJs development/future we are looking better long term.
With Coach Flo getting ‘his guys’ and some quality depth we might even see some short term improvement if we get even ‘half decent’ QB play.
KOC has his work cut out for him. We’ll see what the offense looks like. Not expecting too much out of the QB stable, but maybe they play better than I expect. Defense and running game will need to be strong this year for the Vikings to contend IMO.
Thinking even Mullins can play ‘decent’ if he limited the interceptions. Darnold has the physical traits, will see if they can fix some of his ‘between the ears’ issues. JJ had to adjust to playing NFL lvl talent, the sooner the better of course.

I agree that Sam I am is a downgrade from Kirk. Give me three years to compare JJ. I preferred Maye, but getting JJ and Turner round 1 is big.
$ being what they are, I think the team is stronger than last season on Defense, and having the rookie QB on the rookie deal gives them 3-4 years to make a run.
I saw no chance at a championship run without a rebuild.
They didn’t want to do a full rebuild so this is more of a ‘remodel’.
Trying to stay relevant while they made the changes that needed to be made.
Iโm more optimistic than Iโve been in years. We have a solid coaching, staff, a talented offense (a perfect environment for young quarterback to thrive in), an improving defense, and it looks like our GM finally figured out how to draft.
Itโs a good time to be a Vikings fan. itโs looking like the NFC North is going to be one of the tougher divisions in football.
It does feel strange to trust the coaching staff to find and polish players.

I have no issues with the pork and chicken.
Decent quality at a very good price. Smithfield is where the pork comes from. Just a lot cheaper at Aldi vs Cub/Target
I get Smithfield sausage out at the base. It is consistently $1 – $1.50 less per package than the ‘name brands’ and the quality is the same as best I can tell.
I use a good amount of sausage and when I do it makes me happy to know I got it on the cheap.
I wonโt buy any fresh meat there.
I’m not sure about their fresh meat as we really haven’t tried it. Most of our meat comes from our local butcher shop when we buy a 1/4 beef and 1/2 hog. We do buy frozen chicken at Aldi.

Actually I recall about 90% of the fan base calling for him to be fired after missing all of those kicks agains FTP.
