Welcome to Skoloholics, your home for Vikings discussion! Today, the Vikings played their division rivals, the Packers, in Green Bay. It is always tough to beat Green Bay at home, but the Vikings are a much better team than they’ve been in a very long while. The Vikings came out strong again today. They took control of the game early with a solid opening drive that ended in a touchdown. They were about to sail into halftime with a 28-0 lead, but Jalen Nailor (not sure why he was returning this punt) made a horrible decision and muffed the punt return, giving the Packers the ball near the goal line, which they converted into a pre-halftime TD. Score was 28-7 at halftime.
It stayed that way until the 4th quarter.
The Meltdown
Playing it safe tends to result in success for the opposing team. That happened today. The Vikings, despite outplaying the Packers, decided to let the Packers back in the game. Within 5 minutes of the 4th quarter, the Packers had the score 28-22. When you play scared, and play not to lose, you often lose. They were on the verge today. This is where you see whether the team is for real.
The Vikings overcame via the defense. While the offernse sputtered and couldn’t find their butt using both hands, the defense forced turnovers and staved off the Packers. Byron Murphy was a beast in the 4th, he had an interception and a forced fumble in that quarter. JJ chipped in with a catch on 3rd and 12, a beautiful of a sideline catch that would even amaze Cris Carter.
Here are the stats from the game, courtesy of CBS Sports.
Offense
Kudos to KOC for his play calling. He has become one of the premier play callers in the NFL, and it’s a lot of fun to watch. While I hated seeing them play it safe, and hope they abandon that approach when they have a big lead, KOC is a brilliant caller of football plays. Sam Darnold is thriving in this system, and he looked good again today. Aaron Jones ran the ball like a beast when given the opportunity
Defense
The defense did their jobs and then some. They gave up some points, but only due to offensive ineptitude and a botched punt. When the entire team was playing to win, the defense stifled the Packers offense. The D came up with the big plays necessary to get the win, and they did just enough to prevent a Packers comeback.
Summary
I love this team, and I love how this year’s team is playing. I hope the team ditches this “play it safe” approach. I can see this approach in the 2nd half of the 4th quarter if you’re up by 2 or 3 scores. Playing it safe for the entire 2nd half is stupid and should be discontinued. In the end, the Vikings won IN LAMBEAU by a score of 31-29, and are now 4-0 and sitting atop the NFC North. SKOL!!!!
Man, Twins lose! Anything else go on today? FTP and LAMBLOW! SKOL!
Great game today, thread is scheduled to post at 3 am, see y’all tomorrow. SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and FTP
FTP indeed.
I’m 90% sure that LaFleur was crying before he got that penalty. Damn, that was funny. I laughed my ass off, watching him jump up & down, stamping his feet like a mad toddler.
Greedy NFL pricks. I hope the senate removes their anti-trust exemption some day. Fuckers.
Hope they install us as underdogs to the Hall Of Fame QB known as The Douche.
We are fine proving them ‘experts’ wrong time and time again.
My buddy sent me a thing that said we’re currently 3.5 point underdogs against them. Not sure if that’s true, I know next to nothing about gambling.
What was our record predicted to be right now by all the “experts?”
1-3 I think most expected from us at this point.
NY being the one possible win.
That’s what I was thinking too. Damn nice to be on THIS side of that prediction.
Yup, gotta be pleased with where they are.
Buffalo down 21-3 to the Ravens at half.
Probably due to NLNVF talking about how ‘fully mature’ their offense was earlier today.
LOL. I have their defense on my FF team, they’re sucking hind tit right now.
Ouch. I picked up the Vikings after the first game. Score!!
🔨’s Post Victory Thoughts:
FTP!
Loved everything about the 1st half – except the Nailor muffed punt (opened the window for Puke to come back)
Jordan Addison’s athleticism is off the charts. He’s silky smooth as a route runner. This offense is better with him on the field.
Love looked off to me – but I’ve never thought (and still don’t think) that he was the next great FTP QB. Several throws off target and felt like he was playing 500 most of the time.
Timely plays by the defense to force turnovers. Murphy’s punch out was beautiful.
Game was kind of a coach’s dream. Got the win – but plenty for the to bitch about all week and work on cleaning up. The best and rarest kind of wake-up call – one with a victory.
We’re 4-0 and on our way to jolly ol’ England to take on a very beatable Jets team. Unbeaten going into the bye is within our grasp.
Enjoy the win Skolbros! I’ve got a coworker who’s a huge FTP fan. I bought some cheddar wedges to munch on as I slowly stroll past his office on my way to and from the break room. Can’t wait to strike up the band tomorrow morning!
SKOL!!!
Good summation.
Oh man, can’t wait to hear about the interaction with your co-worker.
What a bi-polar game.
There were shades of Donatell Defense and at other times they were all over the place…
Lots of tape to watch and stuff to cleanup. Created turnovers which was great.
Thought KOC’s play calling in the 2nd half was at many times head scratching.
Glad we won but felt like an icky way to win.
4-0 though, thats fun
Beating FTP on the road is never icky, but don’t turn the ball over three times and it’s a blowout
Yeah, the turnovers hurt a lot.
Ok true i shouldn’t have said icky but it did feel idk…IDK
A-Aron was sacked 5 times today. B’flo has to be salivating.
Hopefully Flo does better this game interms of pressure than vs the pack
He’s not in a full body cast yet?
It would be fun to sign A. Barr this week to the PS.
Activate him for the game vs The Douche in London,
and bring him on passing downs to blitz and rattle the NY QB.
Hehe, I second this…
Sam Darnold is currently leading the MVP race.
He is doing well. better than expected.
Not sure that is MVP worthy.
Burleson just said that he was the leading vote getter. Not sure what he meant.
Trying to get clicks?
No, it was on the post-game show after the Chiefs game.
This was from last week, so after today, I’d say he could be the front runner. I see no reason to deny reality, I guess.

I see how they would rank him up there….. everyone had written him off (maybe except his momma), and now he’s QBing an undefeated team with no current roadblocks in sight
Stats don’t lie & records don’t lie. Dude’s leading his team, leading the league in TD passes, getting wins. Not sure who’d be above him right now.
Mahomes is undefeated and he has the Swifties on his side.
The Chiefs do not scare me at all this year.
Nope. Gonna be great to get that revenge in the super bowl
#nojinx
The Eagles suck, too. This season just keeps getting better.
Cleveland just dropped to 1-3.
Watson with a QBR of 84.9 today.
Watson was a waste of money, and still is. Stupid move by them to pay hin all that guaranteed money when he’d been out of the league for a year and with all the creepy shit in his past. Dude is done, IMO.
Not just money but draft picks as well.
Yeah, they sold the farm for him. They’re known for stupid decisions. I expected no less from them.
First game I got to watch (most of) live. First half I really didn’t feel bad wiping their nose in it, but was great to see. We’re in an awesome situation – Darnold playing like he was supposed to play when drafted, a ringer sitting on the bench learning the game.
We are entering another dynasty of dominance!!!! SKOL MFers!!
Awesome, must have been a great experience. FTP! SKOL!
4-0 is 4-0.
Didnt like how it ended, but it ended the right way.
FTP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yessir!!
Did not see any of the NY Jets game but it had to be bad. I’m not as afraid of them as I was after the last couple of weeks.
Jets lost 10-9 to Butthole Mouth. It was on here but I didn’t watch any of it.
(Butthole Mouth is too long, going to start shortening it to Anus Face)
Oh shit…..I just snorted beer out my nose!!!!
You’re welcome.
Love that we won. Ticked that it was close.
Nailor’s muffed punt changed everything.
4-0, already 2 games ahead of the Packers in the division, and we’re 1-0 in the division. I like it.
Tremendous start to the season. This team could be special.
I think so too. I told my kid he was lucky that he got to see this good of a team after only five years or so of being a fan. I had to wait 45 years for this. I seriously think this is the best Vikings team that we’ve had during my fanhood (since 1980).
They look extremely complete. Seriously had the feeling that they were just toying with the FTP at times. Could have dominated the 2nd half as well if they really would have wanted to.
That’s got me wondering – did they shut it down so other teams don’t get more tape of the scheme, or did the FTP figure out how to neutralize the scheme?
Almost like the Vikings of old… good thing they avoided to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory today.
Great 1st half, kinda crappy 2nd half offensively, and I hate the “play it safe” approach. Always great to beat the FTP at their place, and the Vikes did just that in the end!
‘the Vikes did just that in the end!’
Suspect the FTP fans might enjoy that.
We had a clunker of a 2nd half but still won.
Winning in Lameblow is even sweeter.
Hopefully learned some lessons and get back to dominating vs The Douche next week in London Town.
Going to be a Seahawk fan tomorrow night.
Vikings will take a hit in power rankings for that 2nd half, but 4-0 with a win in lamblow feels great
ESPN will move the Packers 3 spots ahead of the Vikings now.
Of course.
Well it was just Love brushing off the rust in the 1st half.
All hail Love.
And we are 2 games up on the Packers so that’s nice
We totally crapped the bed in the second half, but it still counts as a W.
Be interesting to see how the puker game in Minnesota goes
Knock knock
Who’s there? (Sorry, couldn’t resist)
Foreign
Foreign who?
Foreign O
(4 n’ 0)
Foreign who?

I had to bite…

I’m glad you did, I’ve been impatiently waiting for someone to reply.
