First Half
I loved how the Vikings looked on both sides of the ball in the first quarter. The offense was balanced and effective. Kirk, JJ, Cook, and Hock stood out on the scoring drive. The defense looked much better in the first quarter. Coverage was tight, Asamaoah forced and recoveered a fumble to start the 2nd quarter.
The Giants did put together a solid drive in the 2nd quarter. Jones was sharp and showed off his wheels the entire drive. Wright had a rough first half, although he got a lucky bounce on his last shank, and it rolled into a 57 net yard punt. Joseph hasn’t missed any, but they’ve been close. The Vikings offense pretty much died in the second quarter, they’ll need to turn that around in the second half. The half ends with the Vikings leading the Giants 10-7.
2nd Half
Both defenses played well. The Giants chewed up some yards, but didn’t add a lot of points. There was not a lot of action in the 3rd quarter (shocker!), and the Vikings did not do anything offensively until half-way through the fourth quarter. The Vikings FINALLY got the offense going a bit, and after a huge punt block by Metellus in the fourth quarter, Kirk hit JJ and put the Vikings up by 8. The Giants scored from 25 yards out on 4th and 2 to tie the game at 24. Joseph came on with 4 seconds left to try a 61 yarder to win it, and HE. BLEEPING. NAILED IT!
Summary
Well, you can’t say that the games have been boring. Holy crap, a 61 yarder to put a nail in the Giants’ coffin to avoid another overtime game. That kick would have been good from 65. What a game. The Minnesota Vikings are now 12 and 3, and in prime position as the NFL heads into the last 2 weeks of the season. What a season. Merry Christmas, fellow Skoloholics!
One final thought: This team needs to learn how to put a team away.

It looks like beaker has, oh, I’d say about 87 yards to go for a touch down. 4th and 27 with 3 seconds left in overtime, trailing the Bills by 5. Beaker gets the ball and goes back for the pass looks right and then is crushed from behind, knocking the ball loose into the line where it is hit by a Buffalo lineman knocking it 20 yards up the field into the air, it bounces off the linebackers helmet, is deflected into Theilen’s knee as he is running by, bounces into the back of the safety which deflects it into JJ’s hands as he runs 59 yards for the score as time expires.
