Week 14 Power Rankings Summary

Welcome to Skoloholics. Week 13 is in the books, which brings us to week 14 of the NFL season. Where do the major media outlets rank the top 10 teams in the NFL? Where do the Vikings lie within the top 10? You’ll find out here at the power rankings summary!

The Vikings are 10-2, which is the second-best record in the NFL. The Vikings have taken on five very good defenses in a row and escaped that gauntlet with a 4-1 record. The most recent Vikings victory was over the Jets, summary here. The Vikings have beaten some good teams this year, and only two teams have managed to get the best of the purple and gold.

Well, let’s check on the the “experts”, those who do the major NFL weekly power rankings to gauge their opinion of our favorite team, and also see how closely they rank the top 10 teams in the NFL. Does any of this matter? Heck no. However, it is fun to look at where the Vikings are ranked and to watch them move up the list as they continue on in this fun and exciting 2022 season. Here. We. Sports Illustrated – 7

Yes, Sports Illustrated is more than the swimsuit issue. They still cover sports, but I’m not sure how well they do that. They have the Vikings at number 7, up one spot from last week. This is probably the most lazily-written out of the bunch. Link

ESPN – 5

ESPN swapped the Eagles and Chiefs this week, they also moved the Vikings up one notch to number 5. It’s getting harder to ignore the Vikings’ record. They dropped the Titans out of their top 10, and the Seahawks jumped in. Link

CBS Sports – 6

They slide the Chiefs back a few after their loss, and they move the Vikings up to 5th. They also sneak the Seahawks in at 10. Link

These guys shake things up a bit from week to week compared to the other three sites. They move the Cowboys from 4 to 1, and the Bengals from 8 to 3. They slide the Vikings up one notch to number 6. Link

A few differences, but these will get more similar as the season progresses. As mentioned earlier, as we get deeper into the season, you’re pretty much what your record says you are. Anyway, that’s where we stand as of week 14, according to the “experts”, folks! What say you?
