Better late than never (but never late is better)

I probably should have posted this on day one, but I was anxious to get the site going so we could start commenting, and I’ve since been busy making changes or trying to get changes made. The site has been live for less than a week, but is already thriving, thanks to all of you, our members. I also must say thank you to Mick for helping me get this off the ground, to Eric Scott for his contributions and to Eric, Rob, GASkol, fivefingers, Mick, (and maybe Lifer?) for agreeing to come aboard as authors. It’s exciting times here, as this site is a blank sheet of paper, and we can develop it however we’d like. I like the idea of providing a unique place to hang out, and of doing things differently, such as having people aboard with a wide variety of opinions. So, you may see a surprise here and there as we strive to do things that others may not be doing.

In the end, this is a site built by Vikings fans for Vikings fans, so I want this place to be a reflection of what you would like to see. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] or on Twitter at @skoloholics to let me know of any ideas, suggestions, or requests (I’m already working on the z key), and we’ll do what we can.

As far as site rules go, I’m of the opinion that fewer is better, as I’m a big believer in freedom, including freedom of speech. We’re all adults (well, most of us probably are, even though we don’t always act like it) and I trust that we’ll be fine without a lot of rules and oversight. For the comments sections of all stories, just be cool to one another, as I say every day on the open thread. For all of the stories that are not the open thread, we’ll ask that you mostly avoid the subjects of politics and religion in order to maintain a semblance of peace within the comment threads, and please control swearing. The open thread is……well……an open thread, which is, as the name suggests, open to nearly all discussion. Now, we obviously won’t tolerate abusive language, threats, and things of that nature, but we’ll basically allow conversations about most subjects. We won’t be policing comments very heavily on the open thread, BUT if you see something that you feel is inappropriate, please flag the comment or contact me at [email protected], and it will be reviewed.
