One thing is for certain, those will not be all of the exact picks they will make, will they make fewer, more, or the current number of selections is unknown, but they will certainly maneuver around. Hopefully they end up with a new starting QB by the end of tonight.

How the Vikings Stole the Show by Landing J.J. McCarthy and Dallas Turner (msn.com)
Oops, posted this in the wrong thread. Loved the draft. We essentially in theory replaced our most expensive pieces on both sides of the ball last night. Also here is your media selection of the day. Perfectly sums up modern country hahaha.
I heard this on TnT last week. Too funny. And accurate. It’s very similar to all the ‘Bro Country’ that would make George Jones puke – if he wasn’t already from a night of swilling whiskey….
After all the moves, yesterday, we have the following picks remaining in this 2024 Draft:
1 – 4th round pick (108)
2 – 6th round picks (177, 203)
2 – 7th round picks (230, 232)
Not much to play with.
So right now, we’ll end up with two high end players and 5 guys who could potentially make the team. We expended some draft capital to get the two high end players. I think the equivalent of 4 or 5 guys.
It’s better than 1 high end pick this year and none next year and a handful of borderline depth pieces.

Didn’t watch the draft, just looking over the picks this morning. Vikings picks are excellent. McCarthy will be a very solid starter in time, and Turner looks like a player who could be a head turner.
Agreed. I have to give KAM a thumbs up on last night’s Draft. He played it well and got some high-quality talent. Let’s see what the coaching staff can do with it.
I think the draft fell into KAM’s lap. No one would trade with him to move up. One reporter said his offers were “rebuffed” so he was forced to sit and wait. It worked out well though, as the Giants fooled everyone and didn’t take a QB at #6. Since none of the top 5 teams traded out, I’d assume their asking prices were too exorbitant to agree to. None of the other GM’s took the bait there, so KAM wasn’t exceptionally brilliant last night. He was practical though, and it worked out. Moving up one spot to take McCarthy was either a panic move, or there were serious contenders for the Jets pick, looking to take McCarthy. Dunno. Either way, it ended up a good pick, and that’s what matters. Moving up to take Turner, was also a good move IMO, but not a genius thing. Just practical. I like that.
I also heard some reports that the Vikes made a huge offer to the Chargers for Justin Herbert, but were turned down. Another team did the same and was also turned down.
Yep, when the Giants passed on McCarthy, things went well for us. Love the Dallas Turner pick. Initially, I thought we gave up too much, but after review, it looks like a great move. He will have a huge impact on our D.

Still not sure about Nix vs Penix vs McCarthy, but I trust KoC got the player he preferred once Maye was gone.
My three takes from tonight:
I think I’ve learned that KAM leaned to trust his coaches/scouts.
1) I’m not sure JJ was their first choice but I believe he’s a choice KOC wanted. And the Vikings gave up very little to secure that pick.
2) Dallas Carter is arguably the best defensive prospect in the draft. The Vikings gave up more to get him but, if he ends up being who Flores, I’m assuming, thinks he is, it will be worth it.
But maybe more importantly…
3) KAM held his ground and didn’t give up the farm for either player.
The best 1st round for the Vikings that I can remember. I’m so pumped!!!

Not that I know of. Went to their SBN site, fans not too happy, and got the sense that they weren’t too happy with the money on Cousins contract even before this odd pick.

Who knows if I’m right but I truly believe, until a better explanation comes along, they the Falcons know Kirk screwed them with his comments that made it clear they tampered. Early in the week Schefter says the NFL will make a ruling this week and then a couple days later Rappaport says no decision until next year. The whole thing/process stinks. My thought/hope is that Atlanta has already been told they’re guilty, but they didn’t want to penalize the Falcons and reward the Vikings with a pick swap. So, the Falcons know they’re going to get nailed next year and realize 2024 is their last chance to grab a QB high in the draft before the hammer drops.
Whether that’s accurate or now, idk. But I love the fact Kirk was caught with his pants down on this pick. I like Penix and hate to think he got caught up in this potential drama, but F Kirt and the Falcons more.

He’s arguably the best defensive player in the draft. And the only reason he dropped was because of a class stacked with highly rated QBs and WRs (to include Brock Bowers), so offense predictably dominated the first half of the first round. In year’s prior, he’d be a Top 10 pick.
If that is who Flores wants I am good with Turner.
Definitely a Flores pick. Not happy with the cost, but he is a beast.
