Alright, it’s been much more calm since all the excitement of Tuesday’s trade deadline. I’m excited to see how this offense looks with a solid tight end on the roster. If nothing else, it’ll give Cousins a check-down option to go to when the pressure is on. Also, having another play maker that teams have to account for should help take some of the pressure off of JJ. They can’t double-team everyone.

That is kind of a nice feeling. My new company is most likely getting acquired tomorrow, we’ve been doing a physical inventory the past 2 weeks and finished early. Not so sure what the future holds but if they’re any smart at all, they’ll fuck off and leave us to make money.

Official home inspection found “possible microbial like growth” something something not qualified to detect mold yadda yadda… but my agent found out that another buyer’s agent had a mold inspection done that came back positive and he never disclosed or had the sellers update the disclosure. I am hoping he didn’t disclose to them either and they sue the shit outta him, he was unreachable for 3/5 weeks of the closing period. Horrible agent.

Possible deduction on Brock Miller. Vikings ST coach talked in his presser today about the challenges of facing a left-footed punter this week in Wash (who was also ST Player of the month, IIRC).
Brock is a left-footed punter. My guess is he’s a temporary rental to punt some balls to Vikings punt returners prior to Sunday. This is the kind of sorcery we never saw from Rick/Zim, so we’re not used to it. KAM/KOC are a step ahead.

I watched hearings where literally hundreds of people saw shenanigans and testified about them. Normal people just working polls, not political hacks.

Do you care about election integrity yes or no? Or do you just care that your side lost? Because if it’s just you only care that your side lost, we are done here, you will never be able to have an honest conversation about this. If you care about election integrity then from what I have seen and looked into I have only ever seen voter suppression as making a real difference in some elections. They are both wrong and both blown out of proportion by both sides.
I am not arguing that voter fraud doesn’t happen and I agree it’s incredibly wrong and should be prosecuted. I am saying if you actually care about election integrity then attack then you should probably care more about the bigger issue and from what I have gathered it’s voter suppression. But again, I could be wrong.

Yes, this happened, but IIRC it happened because there is no address on Tribal ID’s and so no one could figure out where they were supposed to vote and for what candidates, because some tribal members didn’t want to give an address.

While I think it would be great if only land owners could vote, having an address is not anything like owning land to be able to vote. Even though the homeless issues is a problem, the percent of people that don’t have an address is not very large. And if they don’t have an address the percent of them that would vote is very small. They don’t have an address for a reason.
I have met people who own large tracts of land without a physical address from eastern Montana. That may not be the case anymore but when I worked at a sporting goods store in college you had to provide a physical address to purchase a gun. I had a couple guys right, 2 miles down the road past x, red mailbox on the right.

There were three election laws passed by the Republican state legislature that were struck down by a district court judge in Billings at the end of September.
1 would have eliminated the ability to register to vote on election day. Felt to disproportionately affect tribal members and young voters who historically rely on election day registration.
2 would have eliminated compensation for collecting ballots, with little evidence of voter fraud presented.
3 would have eliminated student IDs as a valid form of ID for registering to vote, felt to disenfranchise young voters.

Technically Montana’s federally recognized tribes are treated as sovereign land. I briefly looked at some of this, and ran the other direction.
TBH, this was something I dug into the last election cycle and I didn’t keep a running log of things I looked into. But what I found was both are real, both are wrong, but the level of attempts, some successful, some not, at voter suppression could have had big outcomes for some elections. That’s the issue, which one (fraud or suppression) had and in some places only almost had a real effect on the election if it weren’t fought against. Can’t we all agree both are real and both are wrong? Why is that so hard? It’s because of that damn political identity. I tell a Dem, no there was voter fraud and they go, “Oh you Trump loving conservative!” No, it’s real, it happened and it’s wrong. But it will never stop as long as almost half the country is in denial about each thing.

That sounds intentionally fishy. If those 34 closures were in 3 counties, the number closed was the same per county. It also doesn’t compare overall population. After the closures how did those counties compare to the rest of the state with voters/poll? There is a lot of information and context missing, but lets not try and we’ll just call it racist suppression.

I was wondering why I was suddenly seeing a boom in MVC related trauma from little ol’ Big Timber, then I looked at the Montana road report. Ah. I didn’t know bones could break like that!

Yeah the road report says slush, wet, and icy patches. Two big crashes causing westbound closure, including multiple vehicles by Springdale, which is the source of my busy morning and early afternoon.
Even in places here in the Upper Midwest where we get plenty of snow and ice it seems like the first occurrence of such weather always makes people forget how to drive.
Nothing was more terrifying than trying to teach my teenager to drive on snow and ice for the 1st time.
Dad waited until the lake was good and frozen then let me drive on it. Learned a lot about speed, braking, turning.
I’m planning on doing the same with my boys.

First ice of the year last year I’m on I-94, going slower than molasses in a big line of cars going the same, because they hadn’t sanded or salted and it was glare ice.
This girl in a small SUV, probably about 16 and just got her license, goes whipping past in the left lane like we’re all just dumb boomers doing that for no reason.
She slides back into my lane ahead of me, exits and goes up the off ramp, and WHAM! she hits the back of the car at the stop light at a pretty high rate of speed.
Despite my dad’s best efforts, I had the typical invincibility syndrome as a young driver. I remember rodding my mom’s FWD Oldsmobile around like I had preternatural skills, came around an icy corner in a sedate neighborhood probably going twice the speed limit thinking I was carefully managing the pronounced understeer. In reality lucky I didn’t play plinko off a few parked cars. One of the gentlemen that lived there saw me and reported back to dad. Good times walking everywhere the rest of the winter.
