The Vikings traveled to Detroit today to take on the Lions. I think fans’ expectations were tempered. That’s a good thing, because the Vikings looked like dog crap, especially the defense and the coaching, in my opinion. Here. We. Go.
First Half
The Vikings offense sputtered, for the most part. A late half fumble by Cook on what was reportedly a trick play ended what should have been a game-tying touchdown to end the half. The defense allowed a lot of passing yards, but other than two broken plays, did a pretty decent job. Kevin O’Connell was outcoached in the first half, and the Lions were up 14-7 heading into the locker room.
Second Half
The Vikings offense continued to sputter, for the most part, but mainly due to play calling. Kevin O’Connell continued to be outcoached throughout the game. On a touchdown that should have made it a 7-point lead, KOC decided to go for two, and I’m still not sure why. KIrk was slinging the ball when he had the ball, yet the Vikings seemed hesitant to cut it loose until they had to. The Vikings defense could not find a way to slow the Lions offense all day long, it was a pethetic showing by the defense.
Summary
This was a poorly played game by the Vikings players, and a poorly coached game by the Vikings coaches. The team continued to play to the end, but couldn’t do enough to overcome the mistakes made on both sides of the ball, and by the coaching staff. The Lions beat the Vikings 34-23. The Minnesota Vikings are 10 and 3, and still sit alone WAY atop the NFC North. SKOL!!!!

I think it’s a bit drastic to say urban Meyer level, he’s not doing a very good job… and hasn’t all year.

That was my next comment…this is also an indictment on KAM and his atrocious draft. Needed D depth and there was a lot of talent the 1st 3 rds and he completely over thought it and struck out across the board. We got nothing in that draft.

more a indictment of the interior guys getting no pressure 1 on 1 so they just double the ends. Also no creativity in blitz packages because the secondary is so weak they can’t send extra guys often.

No way Donatell is back next year. Won’t happen. The Cook fumble was KOC being too cool for school. Run the GD ball and make them burn the TO – 2 shots at the end zone there, 3 if you’re a gambler and at worse Detroit is forced to run a sneak to get out from the goal line. Should have been a 2 for 1 in our favor. Also, I get the analytics behind going for two especially with Joseph’s issues but I hate it anyway. And the call was terrible. Opportunities were there, and the refs fucked us a few ways. Put this loss on the coaches and not having Brad, Darr and Hitman. 4 sacks on Cousins and a blown coverage that I’ve got to believe Harry would’ve been in position to contest as opposed to a wide open score. Whatever. We clinch next week.

The Vikes did beat themselves today, even if the refs were atrocious. Jared Goff dismantled Donatell´s defense, KOC did not call a good game. Sucks to lose, but it is what it is.

At what point do you think Donatell actually says to himself, “Hey, we’re not getting any pressure on the QB and they’re finding easy zones to pass into on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down. Maybe we should do something differently.”
Well after the shitshow our defense just produced some soul searching needs to be done. Not just by Donatell, KOC needs to get his shit together as well.
