Just a couple more days until Vikings football. Again, this is a really strange situation for us fans, as the Vikings are going into a game that is mostly meaningless. We’ll obviously be interested in watching the replacement center and right tackle, especially the center. Last Sunday’s crap-fest was not something we ever want to see again, so let’s hope they can figure out the snap count and some of the other duties that Reed seemed to struggle with. We’ll find out in a couple short days, but I sure hope to see a strong showing by the good guys. It would be nice to have some positive momentum heading into the playoffs.

My wife likes either clean shaven or a short beard that’s just past the prickly stage. I generally keep it short in the summer but I don’t shave from October till March.

True story but a little dox-y – the mayor of Grand Forks for many years was also a physician, and in fact his wife also was a physician, in a different department. I did rotations with both of them, very nice people as typical of GF.

In a study published in Science in 2021, Cohen and colleagues linked declines in Arctic sea ice in the Barents and Kara Sea and increases in snowfall in Siberia—both of which are linked to climate change—with an increase in polar vortex disruptions and cold spells in the midlatitudes.
“Not everybody agrees with us. It’s still contested science, but I am confident that we’ll see more and more examples of these stretching events in the stratosphere followed shortly after by cold snaps in the midlatitudes as the Arctic climate warms and changes,” said Cohen. “The stretching of the polar vortex we saw in December 2022 definitely fits that pattern.”
