If KAM thinks paying lots of money for reclamation projects is a secret way to success, I have some ice in Alaska for sale.
Only way the high upside reclamation process works is if we ‘coach them up’ and put them in situations/system that takes advantage of what they can do well.

Well since KOC is the ‘wall st trader’ he must think they are worth what he paid for them. Maybe just not as cheap as he hoped but still a bargain.

I, for one, am not going to pretend that I know more than they do. Will just cross my fingers that they know as much as They think they do.
Well I’m kinda working from a business principle here. Return on investment. Investing in an unknown quantity of performance is risky. Thus you don’t go all in on a player who is a reclamation project. That is only my opinion though.
Looking at the contracts that are being thrown around is it ‘all in’ or is it market value.

NVF there have been many “known” quality players signed to big deals that never lived up to them also.
Doesn’t justify KAM going on the cheap either there certainly is more risk of not meeting the performance level but the cost risk is low and we’re in a cap strapped situation trying to fix the books.
I don’t think Davenport falls in the cheap pile who KAM overpaid for. He’s a talented guy who was hurt, it happens. He has a high probability of playing very well.
Probably as likely as them pursuing Cooter Davenport.

Kirk will be a $28.5 million cap charge in 2024. And he isn’t under contract.
No way the team can absorb that and an extension.

This just allows the Vikings to get on the right side of the cap in 2023 while creating a manageable cap impact later if things don’t work out in terms of an extension. It also makes Kirk more attractive in a potential trade, assuming he’d be willing to waive his no-trade clause.
This was all about giving the Vikings more flexibility than they had prior to the conversion. That’s it.
Definitely. They want a contract with Cousins that allows them to do whatever they want with him, like most players. That’s what flexibility means. Player is at the mercy of the team. Remains to be seen if it works out that way.

Exactly and that’s why I like the Bradbury deal a lot also. With the TE they signed they’re leaning to more 12 personnel in the run game which Bradbury excels at. One of the best in the league at down field blocking.
I still think both our signings (upcoming) are being overpaid, which is surprising when we’re cutting it thin on the cap. Marcus Davenportis a roll of the dice for me. He didn’t do much last year, but the year before he was pretty good. May or may not come up aces for us. Hope he does, but $13M is a high price to find out in my opinion.
I think Davenport has a high probability of being very good. They would have conducted a physical /medical on him. Maybe they haven’t given up on ZaDarius yet. If we can keep all 3 pass rushers that gives Flores a great head start on front end pressure. We need to address the second level LB and secondary now.

I think its going to take at least 2 seasons to get our defense rebuilt and stocked to where we want it to be. Especially if we wanna be in the top 5-10 range. We lack talent and depth at all positions, including CB obviously. Curious to see how we do it out side of drafting.

Edge rusher on a one year prove it deal, if he produces, we can resign him to our liking or move on. Will need reminding on the TE deal but its not nearly as bad as you were freaking out over yesterday. He’s not making $21 mil in 2023. Like I said, all of these moves are setting us up to be ACTUAL contenders in 2024 and beyond, not 2023. So, as soon as you remove that thought from your head it all makes sense and everything is chugging along.
If they get a couple DBs still, I think they are still “competitive” in 2023, at least as competitive as 2022. I do agree and think they are making moves that could lead to a team that is a real contender though.

They ended up 7-9 for goodness sakes…it’s not like they went 3-13 and were in the mix for a top draft pick.
