I’m sitting here watching the Eagles-Cowboys game, and the only person I’m cheering for is George Pickens, and only because he’s on my fantasy team. As of now, Pickens has one catch for 4 yards or something. I hate both of these teams, I hope they both lose, even though I know that isn’t possible. It WAS good to have live NFL football back on the TV, though.
My analysis of the game: both defenses suck.

So I wonder why the Chiefs lost to the Chargers last night… oh yeah, it was the QB’s fault.
I figured it was because Kelce knocked Worthy out of the game.
He must have been distracted by ‘wedding plans’.
As you know I’m all in on the it’s a “team sport.” But looking at the stats Herbert must have played really well.
He did. I have always thought he was a very good QB, on a very poor team. Harbaugh came in and did what he does best last year. Run the ball, and play great defense (just like his brother). This year they invested in some receiving strength, and started throwing the ball more. They protected Herbert well last night too. He had room and time to make reads and throws. He looked strong. It’s nice to see the Chargers finally giving Herbert the opportunity to be all that he can be. I’m a fan.
Jim Harbaugh… gotta love him for this…

I saw that Christian Darrisaw was a “full” participant in practice today, but it was only a walkthrough. So really a very limited practice.
Those things are so vague i’ll just wait till Monday.

Among my concerns for Monday is that Darrisaw and retooled O-Line perform well. For the sake of JJ and a run game i think we need. Also, Soldier field doesn’t disfigure anyone.
I’m concerned with playing on a field that’s less than a week old too norseman…
I can find reasons to be ‘concerned’ about anything and everything due to my ‘Viking PTSD’.
But I cope by accepting I cannot change anything. So I default to ‘hope for the best but expect the worst’ in order to maintain whatever sanity I have left.
We’ve both suffered over the years. I feel the same. Another position group concerning is cornerback. A good front 7 makes it less concerning. Flores vs. Johnson will be entertaining. I think.
At least we are playing the Bears and can still win even with a fair amount of mistakes and maybe short a player or two.

After Biden won the election they stop keeping as close of tabs. I had a spreadsheet that I updated weekly with the national and the Minnesota numbers. After the election it was a lot more difficult to find the numbers, you really had to do a deep dive into all of the states web sites.
The only reason I was doing the tracking in the first place was to have data to take back to the Governor asking when restaurants were going to open again.

You should try an Accubow for resistance training. It has a cool app you can shoot all sorts of animals or at a range. There’s even a zombie game. You can adjust the strength on it. The adjustability was designed to help strengthen the little muscles used to stabilize a bow. Their “drill” is to use the provided laser pointer and hold in on a circle until you can’t. I just like playing the games and it actually helped me get over some target panic a few years ago. The other benefit to this over a recurve would be that you don’t have to worry about dry firing it.

Thought the Cowboys played better than I had thought so went to a Cowboy site to see what their fans thought. What caught my attention was a discussions of Dak’s play. Sort of went like this:
First. Dak had a great game.
Next. No, we lost that’s all that matters
Next. He can’t throw it and catch it too.
Next. All QB’s have receivers drop the ball.
Next. He moved better and threw well
Next. His QB rating was not great.
Next. That rating requires TD’s which you don’t get if receivers drop the ball.
Different day, different team, different QB but has a sort of similar ring to it.

So what did we learn about the Eagles last night? Saquon has his moments, but he still ended up with just 60 yards rushing on 18 attempts. Hurts still “hurts” you with his legs, but only threw for 152 yards (and one third of those yards came on one play) and no TD’s. The Eagles were at home, and they looked decent, but far from unbeatable IMO.
If JJ waits until the end of the game to target JJets in a close division game, I will start getting off the JJ train. Also, everybody this summer trying to claim Ceedee is better than JJets is insane and they better have realized it. No way JJets drops those passes at the end of the game.
I’m not sure how you mean this? Heard many experts talking the morning that DAK was too locked in on Lamb during the game and should have taken some shots elsewhere.
For sure no excuse for Lamb dropping all those balls.
I think there’s always going to be 20/20 hindsight on any game JR. If Lamb had come up with a couple more catches, and the Cowboys would have won, do you think anyone would be saying Prescott locked in on Lamb too much?
McCarthy is going to want to lock on to Jefferson. Duh. Allen likes to play man defense. I expect he’ll do that with Jefferson with a safety over the top. Jefferson can beat press man, and McCarthy just needs to be on time with the ball to beat the safety. McCarthy can throw the ball over 60 mph. That means he can fit balls into smaller windows. He just has to make the right reads, and deliver the ball with authority.
Dak did OK last night. Not spectacular, but not bad.
I’m sorry – getting lost here. Thought we were talking about the Eagles game. And I was merely addressing Bow’s comment about JJ waiting till end of game to target Jets. Thought he meant DAK going to Lamb late which really wasn’t the same.

I started off talking about how pundits are complaining about Dak locking on Lamb too much. Then, since Jefferson was mentioned, I brought in the fact that McCarthy is going to lock on to him, just like Dak locked onto Lamb. Finally, I transitioned to our upcoming game, and how I expect McCarthy NOT to ignore Jefferson, and how I expect Allen to defend us.

Based on Dennis Allen’s proclivities, I think we’ll see plenty of man coverage. His system requires athleticism from off-the-ball linebackers and pressure primarily from a four-man front. Allen isn’t afraid to blitz from exotic locations either, and he’s good at disguising defensive intentions. McCarthy needs to be composed and make good decisions with the ball. Jefferson can beat press man. We all know that. If Allen decides to play that way, McCarthy should have some great opportunities, if he can hang with the pressure.
Allen runs a traditional 4-3 defense. This means the Bears will continue operating with a traditional front with four down linemen. The Bears ran a 4-3 last year, so there has been no need to change personnel solely because of a schematic change this off season. Allen’s teams traditionally get solid play from the defensive line and quality efforts from defensive backs.
That said, we have one of the strongest receiving corps in the league. They are going to be tested.
Overall thought Cowboys were better than anticipated.
The Eagles to me are a strange team to put a label on. They are strong and physical. Basically a RB at QB (can throw well enough( with a great RB and a powerful offensive line. They win many games when they don’t look all that good, but some of that is the way they play.
They are beatable, but you have to match their physicality.
Also, like many teams including us, not a great secondary and dependent on pressure.

Tale of two halves last night. 27 points scored in the first half, and each team scored on every possession. Just 3 points scored in the second half. Glad the Cowboys lost, but still hate the Eagles.

You make a key point. Dak and the Cowboys were in the huddle 7 yards behind the LOC. What the hell was Carter even doing 5 yards on the Cowboys side of LOC and still walking forward?
Dak was Taunting, based on the new league crackdown rules on taunting.

Dak may have been the instigator with the words and spitting, but there is absolutely no excuse for a defender to join the huddle of the opposing team. Flag should have been thrown prior to the spit take.
