Not much happening with NFL things. I am enjoying the Timberwolves run. I did not watch any basketball until the playoffs. Still a stupid game ruined by players flopping and refs being idiots, but it is more enjoyable than other things on TV.

The NFL 2025 schedule will officially be announced the day after tomorrow, but I just saw this:
The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will play in the league’s opening game, kicking off all the action before any other teams take the field.
The two teams will play on Thursday, Sept. 4 at Lincoln Financial Field. The game will take place at 8:20 p.m. ET and air on NBC, with streaming on Peacock and the NFL+ app.

Looks like we play almost every NFC playoff team, which is fine. Good challenge to test the team’s mettle.

Hamas terrorists have announced plans to release American hostage Edan Alexander.
Alexander, a 19-year-old Israeli-American and former IDF soldier, was taken captive during the October 7 attacks. The development follows renewed diplomatic efforts to secure the release of remaining hostages and reach a ceasefire agreement in the conflict.

The trade talks between US and Chinese representatives in Switzerland were productive on day one and concluded today with a new agreement. More details will be released tomorrow, but things looked like they went as well as possible.
I do not necessarily agree with “how” he is getting things done, but he is at least getting them done!

I notice that when the Dims talk about taking benefits from people they leave out the part about American Citizens, they include illegals in their ‘talking points’.

If we give away everything until the economy collapses there will be no benefits for anyone, Illegals or Citizens.
Believe there’s some simple math that should be applied here. Sometime back, there was 60% of the people paying taxes. Sometime back it became 55% and just a few years back it was 50%. Believe just now, it has dipped below 50%. If less than half the paper are paying taxes and the remainder are on the receiving end, this isn’t going to work for very much longer.
We need more payers and less receivers.
Add in all the Scams and Abuse and it is absolutely unsustainable.
Personally I’m not dissatisfied at all with “how” things are getting done. Trump is dominating the world, and setting things right that have been wrong for decades. He’s kicking everyone’s ass, for all the right reasons.

With Derek Carr’s announcement that he’s retiring from the NFL, the Saints have a rookie lined up to start for them. With Carr out of the picture, New Orleans’ quarterback depth chart consists of Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, and rookie second-round draft pick Tyler Shough.
Some folks think the Saints might make a play for Kirk Cousins now. I don’t think that will happen. First off, the Saints are in terrible shape with the cap, and Carr’s departure might save them $30M against the cap this year. That might just be what the Saints decide is best for the team. Save that money, and move ahead with QB’s they have on the roster now.
Secondly, I doubt the Falcons are going to send Cousins to the Saints under any circumstances. The Saints are Division rivals, and you don’t help a Division rival.
Money issues are why The Douche is probably not in play.
Unless they want to structure the deal with lots of delayed money and void years.

According to OTC, the Saints have $27 million in 2025 cap space, before Carr retires. So that means $47 millionish after Carr retires. That’s more than the Vikings.
But I agree, I doubt the Falcons would trade Kirko to the Saints. And I doubt the Saints would break the bank for Kirko.
Yeah, I was still looking at the 2026 figures. Duh. Saints have about $29M now, because Carr’s retirement saves them about $6M this year.
Carr will carry a dead cap hit of $14.5 million in 2025. That figure will increase to $35.6 million in 2026. That’s a marked difference from Carr’s pre-retirement figures, which were at $20.4 million in 2025, and $69.2 million in 2026.
Then The Douche might be in play for them.

I missed this. Trump announced on Friday his plans to create the National Center for Warrior Independence at the West Los Angeles VA Campus. This new initiative is aimed at offering critical support and housing for homeless veterans. Trump also directed that money originally set aside for services and housing for illegal immigrants be reallocated to help America’s veterans instead. The White House said its goal is to house up to 6,000 homeless veterans at the center by 2028.

Good. As far as I’m concerned, Trump can take every dollar allocated for illegals and use it for Veterans. If the states want to keep all these illegals, let them pay for it out of state funding.
State funding is still taxpayer funds. I’d rather we simply have all the liberals line up and take the illegals to their home, where they pay for all their support out of their own pocket.
But I think the ‘people’ need to start learning a lesson or two. If ‘they’ elect dumb people who execute stupid plans, the ‘people’ need to really start feeling the pain from bad election decisions.

The debt ceiling has been raised, and raised, and raised. We were running a two trillion dollar a YEAR deficit when Biden and his cronies were booted out.
Trump has taken real action, with a real plan, to reduce the deficit, and start getting our financial house in order. Bring in 8 Trillion dollars in new business investments, and cut federal spending as much as possible.
I read that since he took office DJT has reduced federal spending by a large percentage.

An illegal immigrant from Ecuador, German Adriano Llangari Inga, is facing several felony and misdemeanor charges for drunk driving last year, which resulted in a crash killing Victoria Eileen Harwell, and hurting her teenage daughter and sister.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Llangari Inga was arrested for criminal vehicular homicide in Minnesota in August 2024. ICE placed a detainer request with the Hennepin County Jail, but the jail released him without notifying ICE.
Llangari Inga, who was unlawfully in the U.S. at the time of the crash, originally entered the country in 2016 and was already undergoing removal proceedings.
Alex Pfeiffer, the White House Principal Deputy Communications Director, criticized Democrats for failing to protect the public, saying their inaction allowed an illegal immigrant, who killed a mother while driving drunk and is now on the run, to remain at large.
So he’s arrested for criminal vehicular homicide, has an ICE detainer on him, and the police release him back into the public and fail to notify ICE? Fucking Minnesota Dem’s. They should be sued by the family for $100M.

My SoCal Neighbors all wanted to leave.
One couldn’t due to inability to sell his house because of liens, another couldn’t convince his wife due to family. The others wanted to, one needed more time to stabilize his finances and anther actually had just applied to a company in Boise the last time I talked to him.

The Steelers situation with Rodgers is playing out very oddly. They aren’t really pursuing anyone else, and they aren’t very well set at the QB position. I can only think they have some sort of assurance that Rodgers will sign with them. If he doesn’t, they’ll have to roll with Mason Rudolph I guess.
Given The Douche and the drama he loves he could very well take them trying to shore up the QB room as a personal insult and decide to wait from someone to have an injury before he signs anywhere.

It’s another beautiful May day. I have bookstore projects and yard project, including mowing the full yard for the first time this year. I have spot mowed and mowed a big chunk last week, but now the whole thing needs a good trimming.

Fun Summer Activities.
I gave up lawn care years ago.
Went with Desert Landscaping during one of the many dry spells in SoCal.
Hired a guy here to take care of this place before the ‘Big Move’ when we were getting nasty-grams from the HOA. Once we got here I didn’t know how to do all the switchover from winter to summer and back as that wasn’t ‘a thing’ in SoCal, so I let our guy do it.
Now I realize I still don’t have any of the lawn care equipment plus the crabgrass/clover/dandelions/etc have to be kept under control. Plus our guy has handled some tree issues and such so we are keeping him as he is not pricy. I still pull weeks and trim the bushes as needed.
Yes, it’s been an unbelievable stretch of weather here in western Wisconsin. Very, very nice. I’m mowing my yard also VP, second time.
With all of that moisture in April and now all this sun and warm, things are growing quite rapidly.
