Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the Day
What should we reasonably expect from the Vikings offense this Sunday? Jaren Hall is under center, so I’m curious to see whether this will force Wes Phillips to focus more on the run, as he runs a very high percentage of pass plays and has shown no intention of altering course.
The Vikings offense is only averaging 21 points a game or so, and that average includes points generated by the defense, so that figure is actually lower. Even during the Vikings recent 4-1 streak, the offense isn’t lighting up the score board. The team has yet to score 30 points this year, so they don’t need the offense to do a ton in order to get a win. Sustain drives, give the defense time to get rested so they can stay fresh. Let’s hope Hall can steer the ship!

If the Dems vote it down or Sniffer vetos it then they can explain why Israel isn’t getting any money.
He has all the cards unless he folds.

In my opinion, he should have put up a clean Israel bill (no Irs suff), got it passed and sent it to Senate.

Off my head – recall Biden’s Infrastructure Bill that got passed last year – like $1.9 Billion.
That bill was marked 92% green new deal and pork and only 7% infrastructure. 17 Repub Senators voted for it. Good place to start.

Now, this is politics, they all talk a good game – it matters what get’s done.
A harsh fact – both sides have their hard core, a still middle that almost always aligns, and for Repub’s a moderate group. These moderates are usually from purple states. Who controls the House, is decided by who wins in these states. Part of the Speakers job is to Protect those moderate members and in fact do things to get more. Whether we like it or not.
Now, you do not have to cater to fake news, And I’m OK with paying for things – I started with that thought. But picking the IRS was poor. Reason= The CBO had scored the funding for the IRS as a net SAVINGS for the government- as they were going to find all the tax cheats ( both sides have agreed to CBO figures). So the Israel package at 14 got scored at near 50 as a cost. Go sell that to anybody.
If you want to pay for it, go back to the Infrastructure bill and pull 14 from the pork pile that hasn’t been spent. It’s far better politics and actually it’s better fiscal responsibility.
Grand standing may look real good to our base, but putting up ineffective legislation will do little but cause us to lose the House.
You seem to not lie McCrthy – I don’t care one way or the other. But I do like Next Gingrich and I know he was a very effective speaker – look what he got done. You might to to his site and see what he has to say about the behavior of our Republican members in the House..

That is a strangely touching show. I’ve watched a couple of episodes. Last night we watched the second half of Survivor episode from Tuesday.
Stressful times at our place. HVAC has been there 12 hours daily for two days trying to tie in the boiler to the new radiant floor heat zone, GC is working like crazy to get ready for the Mexican sheetrock guys, and is cutting into the walls today to create the new doors into the addition. Agreed. I have been battling ridiculous blood pressure. Maybe I’ve always had it, I hardly ever go to the doctor. Like it was 3 years since last seeing a doctor and that time was just for strep. But doctor is a little perplexed because my blood pressure is crazy high but I am not really having any issues. Very active, no shortness of breath, work out, etc… So trying to get blood pressure meds right. I am eating cleaner, haven’t been doing coffee this week. Got to get this under control.
Up until my 50s, I rarely went to the doctor. Now I have to go every year for prescription med and physical appointment. And over the last few years, I have been in several times per year. This getting old stuff sucks.

When I google my numbers because I bought a home blood pressure machine, it flashes red when I take my readings, the internet says I should contact 911 immediately haha, those things don’t help the already high blood pressure lol.

My cholesterol has been high since my 30s. In my 50s I started taking a statin. However, I recently learned that one of my genes has a defect that predisposes me to a form of high cholesterol called Familial Hypercholesterolemia. So mine is genetic, which also sucks because then all of my kids could get that from me.
I have the same thing, its not uncommon for people’s blood pressure to be high at the Doc office but not high usually because people are often stressed about getting the hell out of there.
I had this issue to Edge. Lisinipril is what has worked for me. And quitting smoking cigarettes.
I have never smoked a cigarette in my life. So, hopefully the meds they have me on will work. I don’t think it’s Lisinpipril but the first meds they put me on didn’t do the trick so now it’s a combination med.

Well, Teddy also played with a top 5 RB all time in his prime, this Vikings team couldn’t run the ball on the Little Giants. The rest of the season is going to be an absolute slog of games scoring less than 20 ppg.

Full disclosure, I never liked Teddy as a QB due to overhype. Bridgewater’s level of average might still be too high for Hall to surpass, though.
Same, didn’t like the hype that came with Teddy. Many fell for it, I thought him overrated, but he was a serviceable, if nowhere near the QB some made him out to be.
If Hall can reach that level of play we should be fine.

Kirk had a very good season so far and in the last 3 games or so even appeared to handle pressure better than ever, but we’ll never know what this season might have brought if he didn’t tear his Achilles. Moot point now, let’s see what our other QBs can do.

Hall success? Have heard for a long time success of NFL QB is mostly determined by two things: 1) being able to throw a good accurate ball and 2) being able to process three or fourth decisions very quickly – like a second and a half.
We’ll see.
There is a third element, and the one that Kirk lacks.
The ability to improvise, and extend plays with your legs.
I think Hall can do that, and the biggest issue will be your second item. The ability to quickly process 3 or 4 decisions will take some time to develop. The speed of the NFL game normally causes some issues at first.

Might be the most important part of his game until the cerebral stuff comes along, if it ever does.
You make solid points. Kirk has command of this offense this year. The “two seasons in a row with the same offense” argument looks to be correct. He has played well.
The issue I see is that as you progress in the playoffs, the talent level of the defenses you face increases dramatically.
The need to make silly plays with your legs becomes almost mandatory, unless you have an absolutely fantastic defense and can win with 14-20 points.
Short version. I no longer hate Kirk as a QB, but still have little faith in his ability to win a championship.
If Kirkโs play this year still doesnโt have you thinking he can win, thatโs more of a you problem than a Kirk one.

Fair. I just know the guy that’s one the most SB’s didn’t make plays with his legs – brain and arm. Stafford recently did.

A QB can be successful without extending plays and improvising, but that’s what separates good from great. Its not just scrambling out of the pocket to throw, its also making more subtle movement within the pocket by sliding to buy an extra second to throw, Marino was the best I’d ever seen at doing that, Brady was also very good, Kirk rarely does either, he just stands there FTMP.
Improvise is HUGE, the extend with your legs is nice but isn’t an absolute (See Tom Brady, Manning etc…). But improvising is huge.
