After recent events around the QB, I wonder just what exactly Mullens role is on this team. The backup in case the starter goes down – doesn’t seem so.
Going into the season he was clearly the backup, but then somehow got injured being the backup and now IDK what the hell KOC is doing.
Exactly. Given Dobbs performance last game, if their was ever a time to bring up the backup that was it. Really strange.

Just listened to some of KOC’s presser. Thought it interesting he said we studied Josh a lot and decided to bring him in here. Seems to be some interest in making the investment work out.
Also he seemed a bit out of character pointing out mistakes other players (no names) were making on the offense.
Sounds like he decided that while Josh has his flaws they are fixable.
The others also have flaws and they may not be ‘as fixable’, Mullins, or take more time to fix, Hall.
Speculation at best but it seems to fit what we see/hear going on.

Mullens made sense, as a backup to Cousins. Same style of player, wouldn’t need to adjust the offense mid-game if something happened to Cousins.
Hall makes more sense as a backup to Dobbs, for the same reasons.
Just my opinion though.
Arby’s burger did not happen. Went to Jimmy John’s. Ate wisely. Got too much to do yet this week to ingest a gut bomb on Wednesday.
But come Saturday, I am eating a burger and pile of curly fries.
Driving home the other day, wife had to go to bathroom and closest stop was a Burger King. thought what the hell and got a Whopper. Forgot how great a burger that is. Highly recommend it if you get a chance.
Burger King was my go-to place in college. I’d get a Whopper meal whenever I was at rock bottom. The endorphin rush got me through the low.

I like BK, the whopper is still the same size as its always been, while the “big mac” has shrunk.
Whoppers are delicious. A few too many calories for my aging metabolism though. When I want a treat I get a Whopper Jr. which is still delicious.
Heck, just a few more minutes on the eliptical and I go big – at least that’s what I tell myself.

Although I somewhat agree with that, I believe the Vikings rightly concluded that the starter would leak anyway. Word would get out who is getting the 1st string snaps.

Not sure why folks care about this. Some stayed, many left. Why does it matter?
Also, not “apples to apples”. Current DN tends to start later in the day than Skolho (not sure why but their daily thread usually gets posted later in the day now). Also, they get more comments on articles. So, the total comments today (and most days) are roughly the same there and here.
I’m not trying to argue one is better than another. The DN used to be great, and now it’s not. I just don’t understand why folks here (they don’t do that there, although they used to) continue to compare. It doesn’t matter and seems insecure to me.

I am concerned since the Raiders do have a good defense, and almost beat Miami.

Raiders are ok defensively, but offensively they are not great. I’m expecting a relatively low scoring game.

Do you ever notice that it is the response to an action that proves the intent?
Among my portfolio of referring providers is a friendly young lady who asks me lots of pertinent questions, comes across as a little needy. Conferring about cases she has taken to texting me which works well as answering a text doesn’t require me to stop what I’m doing and pick up the phone.
Was at a granddaughter BB game Saturday at 7 pm when my phone squawked with a text notification. The provider was pointing out a subtle fracture I had missed earlier in the week and asked for me to review when I had time. I was in the process of replying when my wife stopped me. I am at heart a people pleaser and hate disappointing others but have counseled for that and know I need to set limits or people will run roughshod over me. My wife pointed that out.
I ignored the text.
On Sunday, I reviewed the case, texted that she was correct there was a little fracture there, thank you, case addended. She replied oh you are awesome little pink hearts etc at the same time I was composing a text stating that she was not to call or text me after hours or on weekends unless it was an emergent issue.
She replied a little passive aggressive, I’ve been working so hard lately I lost track of days and when you have time can you tell me what your work hours are? (she knows very well the answer to that).
Have not heard a peep since then despite reading some odd cases. Suspicion confirmed.

It’s crazy that Glen Close was considered a sex symbol then. A producer wouldn’t even bother laughing at the idea of a woman like her in such a role now. They would immediately pick an augmented chick.
I reckon one of the reasons Close is so scary in that role is that she looks like a genuine witch trying to be hot.
She portrays the textbook example of borderline PD. I remember encountering a splitter coming through the ED when I was an intern, months later I was doing my peds rotation and her child was admitted with a respiratory illness. Rounding at 5:30 am she was sleeping in bed with her child, I tried not to disturb them too much while listening to lungs etc and she (mother) sleepily stated she was hoping I (a great doctor haha) could examine her breasts as they had been bothering her and started pulling off her nightgown. I got out of there so fast there was a sonic boom.

There was a woman like that in my hometown, but she was less subtle. She pulled her car up to the station where a bunch of guys had their morning coffee and said her engine was making a funny noise.
One kind soul went out to check. He opened the hood, looked things over, and when he looked up, there she stood with her shirt pulled up and said, “Touch them!”
I never had to worry about such things. My ability to repel women even applied to the crazy ones!
Great actress – her one season on ‘The Shield’ is phenomenal.

Of all the midfoot sprain X-rays you see, how many actually have broken bones?
I have a midfoot sprain. Rolled the foot one week ago. There has been average pain and swelling. Wife wants me to go to doctor, but it feels like it turned a corner last night. I am getting around better today.
I have a lot of experience with sprained ankles/feet from sports. Every time I go to the doctor with one, it is always the same thing: “Don’t see any breaks. Rest it.”
I assume you see no evidence of Lisfranc ligament tear on the x-rays? I would say the vast majority of acute foot pain x-rays I see have no visible abnormality.
Edit now I understand you haven’t had x-rays. Oops. Yeah most have no visible abnormality but a ligamentous tear is the one thing that would concern me as if it’s not fixed it will progress. A subtle nondisplaced fracture if present would likely heal on its own.
I haven’t been to the doctor for an X-ray yet. I’m thinking it will be a wild goose chase, but I will reevaluate tomorrow. If I still have a decent amount of pain and swelling, I will go get it looked it.
I’ve had some MAJOR sprains in my day. I’ve had crankers that turned my calf black to the knee, and I had one midfoot sprain where I had a lump sticking a half inch out of the side of my foot almost instantaneously. None of those had breaks.
On the other hand, I’m old now!

Totally stupid sport to roll a foot. I was reaching back for a ball, and the edge of my sole caught the floor and turned my foot over while all my weight was on my back leg.
So the sprain is more midfoot than ankle.
You might want to go, I had numerous ankle sprains during my youth and adulthood and they just became more common, I finally went to a Doc and said all the ligaments are torn, there is cartilage damage due to lateral ankle instability, then they asked why I didn’t go in before.

What’s the premise?
So I hesitate to say it’s about superheroes because that just makes people think Marvel or DC but basically it’s about a committee of these 7 of the top Superheroes (again it’s not the Justice League), and the dirty underbelly of basically the politics of the front of this group. It’s funny, it’s super bloody, it’s vulgar, it’s captivating. Man I did a really shitty job of explaining it. It’s like what our world would be if there were really super humans because it would politicized and lot of money thrown at it and corporations would ruin it and there would be scandals and cover ups etc…
I will watch that, but I am more excited for Reacher season 2, and also the new Fallout series starting in April

They aren’t bad, tried one when they had their angus burger a while back.
I think the new ones are waygu or whatever it is called. I had a waygu burger before. It certainly tasted like a burger.
It’s kind of like beef stew. No matter what recipe I use, it tastes like beef stew.
I’ve never had a waygu steak. I’ve always understood it was expensive due to the complex marbling of the meat. I’m pretty sure if you grind it up into hamburger meat, you just wasted the fine marbling.
So I believe a waygu burger should taste like any other burger.
“Angus” burgers/meat is one of the biggest scams. Has nothing to do with the breed or anything in particular about the cow. It simply means that the cow was at least 51% black.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous. Market beef as something better when it’s simply a phenotype. Technically angus is a breed, but to have meat marked by the USDA the owner simply has to show the cow was at least 51% black so you could have a Holstein labeled as angus by the USDA.

Yep, once he got his 3rd (felony level in SD) dui he used a suspended imposition to keep it a misdemeanor, he did get it together after that, but because of them he could not get a job as a teacher anywhere (he got a degree in PE) except on the reservation for several years until they started dropping off his record.

Got our money’s worth, Sandler was on stage for almost 2 hours – All new bits and he closed with the tribute to Chris Farley.

Question at top. Defense has ben a pleasant surprise. Offense seems to be able o move the ball against most defenses. But, the turnovers have killed us all season. If we play fairly error free ball we can win, if not we lose.
Still think we win 9 games – somehow.
Heard on the radio this morning that 18 percent of our possessions have ended in a turnover…by far the most in the NFL….
Vikings and Browns are tied in both total turnovers (24) and turnover differential (-8), I seriously doubt the vikings have by far the most possessions to end in turnovers. The Jets are also close with 23. What is surprising is the Browns have a winning record and the Vikings are .500 despite being turnover machines.

Since the beginning of time, coaches have preached winning the turnover battle. I suspect a very,very talented team can get away with it from time to time, but we aren’t that talented
I think Parker Valby is my new favorite athlete. She is a running machine, and I don’t think she has even peaked yet.
She only won the NCAA Cross Country tile this year because the defending champ Katelyn Tuohy was sick.
Was sick but still finished well enough for North Carolina to win back to back to back titles.
It will be fun to watch them compete again.

Regarding the question of the day, the Vikings will finish the season meh, or a little above meh. Its what they do like 90% of the time. 8-8-1 was my prediction before the season, I’ll stick with that.

To revisit a comment from yesterday, there are a couple of people where I work that put their pronouns after their e-mail signature. If people can’t figure out that I’m a man, then I want them to be awkward trying to talk to me without using pronouns.

That seems a little extreme, I would think there was some hyperbole involved.

I’ve known several trans people and all them are good people and they are the same good people they were before they transitioned.

Also, I literally have a friend born Tim who now goes by Kim and is fully transitioned. To me she is Kim now, if she goes and uses the women’s bathroom I wouldn’t blink an eye. She’s not hurting anyone.

Biological males will be allowed to compete in and will eventually destroy women’s athletics because to say trans-women/biological males can’t compete is to admit that they are not in fact females, no matter what they say, and the lefties will never admit that.

Whenever I get into an argument with someone on this topic that thinks natal males should be allowed to compete against females I eventually say fine, let’s just rid of gender in sports then. Let’s just have basketball, and Volleyball, and soccer etc… Usually helps haha.

I use a persons name. The one stumble I witnessed was a man deciding to identify as a woman, and he/she had been there for a few years. We had some eastern European contractors, and one contractor was the scrum master. Scrum master used the guy/girls male name and the transitioning employee had a fit.
The scrum master replied, “call yourself whatever you want, just get your work done” In the best “Natasha ” from Bullwinkle voice.

I work with a they/them person who identifies as a man, which I’ve always found kinda weird to use plural pronouns, like is that for people with multiple personality disorder? Either way, I could care less what they call themself and only concern myself with their performance, which is exemplary.
Agreed, I don’t care if you want to be called he or she. We put up with people wanting to be called Bubba, or Big Todd or something like that with no issue. But yeah while I think the they/them is silly but I do it because… whatever but the xe/xem/xyr is fucking dumb. But if someone said that’s their pronoun I just ask them what their name is and never use their pronoun lol.

I don’t really care, I generally just use peoples names anyway, but I will say, I’m not wasting my time with whatever these “neo” pronouns are that I recently heard of.
Some in our industry do use the Pronoun thingy…I think in our company only 1 of our 20 employees does that.
I have told my co-workers I will use “King” as my preferred pronoun.

I was at a west coast company for a meeting recently….they did the whole “we don’t have gendered bathrooms” thing…However “the bathrooms are labeled ‘urinals’ or ‘no urinals'”
I was in Minneapolis last weekend (didn’t get shot or robbed) and I was a brewery that had that as well as tampons outside on tables of both bathrooms. Super woke haha.

My shop went on a big DEI rampage coincidentally just before the pandemic, had many hours of videos and scenarios to watch. I took it in stride as in health care you have to be accommodating of different beliefs, no problem. I did find it odd one scenario they showed was that you had a male coworker Philip today and tomorrow comes in as a woman Phyllis and the scenario really stressed that in no way should you tease them about this change, nor should you even particularly mention it…acting like the only change was a new pair of shoes for example. I lol’d at the realities of this situation but oh well to pass the test had to answer correctly.
I haven’t seen a follow up to that series since that time, might have to do with the replacement of the high level admins or just that with the mass exodus of workers during and after the pandemic they have bigger fish to fry.
I would feel bad if I referred to someone in an e-mail as him when their preferred pronoun is xae but it is hard to keep track of that unless you correspond daily.
I would not feel bad. Xae is not a word and means nothing.
It’s all perspective I guess – I skipped a grade so of course got teased in the locker room for being physically behind the guys rocking puberty with the pencil mustache, got called a few choice names but being called a boy or him instead of my preferred pronoun xae would have been appreciated.
We had similar issues at the Prison. Calif was full woke so we got all of the ‘trainings’ annually.
Had one person who went from ‘slightly feminine male’ to ‘slightly masculine female’. Some co-workers where scared to work with them as they could be reported for offending them somehow.
He/She/It worked overtime in my Housing Unit frequently. They did the job, I used their name, it was never an issue.
I think they kept taking overtimes with us because we didn’t care as long as they did the work.
