In his presser yesterday, KOC talked about “our offense and our staff’s ability to evolve and help Josh thrive”. So, what does that mean exactly? The offense has arguably one of the strongest receiving corps in the NFL. The J-birds are capable of wreaking havoc on an opposing defense, but throwing the ball isn’t Dobbs strongpoint. He’s a better runner than he is a passer. So if we’re evolving the offense for Dobbs to thrive, are we going to be loading up on 3 TE sets and running the ball with Dobbs as the focal point?
If so, WTF?.

I have been watching the Cardinals games to get some insight on Dobbs. Not liking what I’m seeing.
I want the Vikings to win and I’m hoping KOC gets it right with Dobbs.
The Raiders are 20th in the league in total defense (total yards per game allowed), and tied for 16th in points allowed per game.
This is a team we should score on, and beat easily.

I’ve watched Stroud all year – he’s legit. Teammates love him, coaches love him. Interesting as he’s the first Ohio State QB to really find success as a passer – Fields success has been primarily as a runner. I guess technically Burrow was at Ohio State but I can’t think of one in recent memory that has matched Stroud’s success in Houston.

My shop invited me to an in person 90 minute meeting in Billings with some other paper hangers to discuss toilet paper utilization on Monday afternoon. I politely declined the favor of spending seven hours on the road and devoid of gouging to attend some 90 minute meeting that would accomplish jack shit.
They are so excited to see me transform into Asswipe B that they have now offered me to attend on Teams while the rest of the paperhangers loll about the board room table. My transformations ARE legendary but I fear it won’t have the same impact on a screen in the board room. Oh well I’ll do my best, and that way I can continue gouging and more importantly contributing to this bunch of retards, myself included.

I use ChatGPT for some work stuff. It would be silly not to use it for somethings. I don’t look for ChatGPT to replace artistic writing anytime soon, but it is great for laying out boring technical subject articles.
Just had a Christmas lunch/recognition thing at work. Now I am full of chicken and the richest Scotcheroos I have ever eaten. Whoever made those things must have doubled the amount of sugar in them. Every molecule in my body is dancing like a water droplet on a hot skillet. Stomach feels like it wants to bail out of my belly button.

I’m likely in the minority but I don’t care for any variation of rice crispy treats, nothing beats the original. The only variation I ever likes was from the #1 rated chef in the twin cities gavin kaysen, was they are done but still warm he spreads a light layer of butter across the top then sprinkles a light amount of sea salt.

My favorite is regular rice krispi bars but with a hard chocolate topping of melted chocolate chips and almond bark.

I like scotcheroos, but I find that I prefer the recipe I use. It’s not as sweet.
Scotcheroos are a huge yuge weakness of mine.
My loving wife was trying to get me scotcheroos for Thanksgiving, she was bidding on a pan of them for the cancer fundraiser they do every year here. She had the winning bad of $200 by a margin of $150 but forgot to log on the last five minutes, someone snuck in and grabbed ’em for $210. Oh well at least they (both the money and sweets) went to a good cause and I didn’t have to go into a hyperglycemic coma.

My point is there’s the false narrative that we allow current events but not politics but it’s not true. Which is why I’m sorry I am a supporter of freedom of speech of both sides so if I see we are hammering on the left and only the left (they deserve it not defending them but rather defending freedom of speech both ways) then I’m gonna hammer on the right in the same way to show that issue.

For me it was writing my grandmother in Wales. I mean, writing a Christmas card for her in Welsh was great, but man addressing the envelope was a bitch.

One thing I remember was in 1980, I was 11…I really wanted a bike for Christmas and I would get so excited to open presents I could barely sleep. Just before retiring for the evening my parents said try to get some sleep, presents will be there in the morning, and there is one you’ll really love.
In all seriousness, I did get some nice presents…but they were referring to a globe. I was and am a bit of a map studier (these are the days there was no such thing as GPS or smart phones to guide you and to say meet friends at the mall you had to be able to interpret the bus routes) so it was a thoughtful gift but not what I was hoping for. Funny thing they still had that globe thirty five years later it was among the things I had to throw out when my mom moved into senior living.

Heh heh my dad had the ultimate “you think your Christmas sucks” story…of course I never verified the story but he could tell these long winded stories (can you imagine, apple didn’t fall far from the tree) and this one was awesome…Christmas 1945 Wales post WWII poverty his dad laid off from coal mine no presents and they cut a tree to set up in the living room. They got a set of plastic salt and pepper shakers from someone as a gift and tied them up on the tree. Christmas morning my dad bumps the tree and the salt shaker falls and shatters (guess plastic was different texture in those days). He gets sent to his room, no Christmas dinner.
That kinda took care of the gee all I got was a bunch of socks, underwear and a Rubik’s cube whining.
Haha I started this thread as kinda a antonym of all the warm holiday wishes and now I find myself chuckling.
Yeah, I got my own “I walked 2 miles in a snowstorm uphill both ways to school every day…” stories as well.
No doubt times were much tougher back in the 30’s when my parents were kids.

Maybe this is more of a bad Thanksgiving memory, but my oldest brother past away in November of 2017. When we checked his apartment, he had already purchased his supplies for Thanksgiving. It still stung at Christmastime as there was a very obvious space missing at the Christmas table.
I’m not sure if mine is Thanksgiving or Christmas, but big family get together at my Grandma’s and she had an electric stove with those coils with plastic coil covers. Or at least some kind of material that melts. Someone turned on the wrong burner and that thing STUUUUUUUUUUUUUNK!

Least favorite Christmas memories were as a kid being shuttled back and forth between my dad’s for christmas eve, he’d always bitch that we got there that day too late and that we left too early the next morning, open presents eve night, hurry up and empty stocking in the morning, then back to my moms christmas morning to hurriedly wolf down homemade caramel rolls (these were legendary), open gifts and stocking, immediately leave to my grandma’s where usually 10-20 of my cousins were also at not too mention a bunch of uncles and aunts, open gift from grandparents, eat turkey dinner at like 2pm, help wash a million dishes, then finally get to go home back at moms and relax. Honestly the only thing about christmas I enjoy are the parts leading up to it, decorating, baking cookies, buying gifts, and christmas church service.

Any kid with divorced parents who share custody probably has similar experiences. I always wished they’d just alternate years but neither would agree to that. At least my parents did me the service of splitting up just before I was 2 so I have no memories of them arguing or anything like that.
Well lucky me I have plenty of memories of arguments and my dad slapping my mom, etc…but boy they stuck together until the end and now I have to endure my mom talking like he was a saint. Good times when she still talks about my half sister like she was some sneaky demon spawn embryo that pulled sperm out of my father against his will.
Yeah, its a blessing and a curse, I have zero memories good or bad of them together, so there’s that.
Lucky. Mine never divorced, fought and drank constantly. They don’t understand how that can affect a child. I swear till i turned about 25 i had to logic my way thru social situations.

That is unfortunate, my wife always references modeling her parents relationship when we talk about our own and I’m like I have no idea how to do that, that’s still probably better than modeling a dysfunctional relationship.
I truly feel blessed that I did not have to deal with that as a kid.
My wife did. We did like 4 Christmases a year until her parents passed a few years ago.
Least favorite? all the drama. As a child we always spent Christmas Eve with my Mom’s Parents, and Christmas Day at my Fathers parents. Once in a while a distant relative would also invite us, so it was 2-3 places to visit. As a kid, I just wanted to play with the new toys.
Fast forward to adulting and getting married and having children. Both my parents and my in laws are divorced, so we now had 4 places to be, over two days, while trying to start our own Christmas morning tradition.
After a few years of that bullshit, I finally told the family that we would be staying at our home, and if they wanted to come over on Christmas Day in the afternoon that was fine.
Otherwise pick a weekend day before or after or don’t see your grandkids.
Yeah it’s interesting and don’t get me wrong I understand where you’re coming from (when we traveled home during my retraining we were always the ones that had to travel to see everyone), but this is a change in my generation over the generation before, it would have been unheard of in the 70’s/80’s for the grandparents to be expected to travel and to make time to see the grandkids, my parents made darn sure I spent time with my grandparents in the summer and at holidays despite my wishes to the contrary…and you know what? I’m glad they did.
We have 3 kids and 2 grandkids. My wife prefers to travel instead of having to host everyone with all the work that entails. Last year we were in St Louis with relatives and all of our kids/grandkids. This year we will be on the Oregon coast with some of my wife’s family, 2 of our 3 kids will be there also.
My wife and I are doing our best to accommodate our children since they are adults and both married. We ask what works for both, the siblings work out a date and time, and we are cooking and spending time with them when it works best for them. Last year was the Saturday after Christmas. This year is happens to be Christmas day. Next year is up in the air. They get to make new traditions. Ours are done and I refuse to be as demanding as our parents were.
My parents have mostly been accommodating for my wife and I at christmas. We made the decision that we aren’t making the 12 hour drive there in December or January during winter storm season with two children under 5, its just not worth it to drive 12 hours one way in potentially terrible conditions, likelier to hit a deer, have a vehicle breakdown, etc. We usually go out late Feb or early March instead. Hers are accomodating too, about half the time we do christmas here where I live on the weekend before or after the actual holiday and my wife and the kids do our own thing on christmas day.
A boy Tick named Tim met a girl Tick named Tina. Tina and Tim hit it off and became intimate. Then Tim the Tick met Tracey the Tick and Tina the Tick met Tom the Tick and they collectively hit it off and what was Tim and Tina Tick became Tom and Tina Tick and Tracey Tick hooked up with Tim Tick….

It was civil (for now) but pretty political. I don’t want to get involved in deleting comments or slapping hands, but when we have people piping in that they are not sticking around or coming around because it’s getting too political then there might be an issue. I’ll leave it up to GF, but there was plenty of discussion about the left and right and not “current events”.
