Coming out of the bye week, it’s been a while since we’ve seen Vikings football. I’m excited for Sunday’s game, and I’m hopeful that KOC can figure out an offensive scheme that will help Josh Dobbs find success. I don’t care to sit through another offensive performance like we saw against the Bears, yuck.

Justin Jefferson makes his post-injury debut against the Raiders on Sunday. What are you expecting to see from him, production-wise? (How many yards, etc)

After his absence due to injury, Justin Jefferson revised his goal to 1,000 yards for this season.
The Patriots defeated the Steelers on Thursday Night Football last night, per NFL.com. That was the Steelers’ second straight loss to a two-win team, they were defeated by the Cardinals last week.
Zach Wilson will be the Jets’ starting quarterback…….again, from CBS Sports.

A thought or a question that continues to perplex me about football – even after all these years.
Was watching Army/Nave football yesterday. their passing games/QB’s are hardly better than good HS. Yet, end of game, Army does prevent, rushes three and Dan Morino appears for Navy.
You see this week end week out at every level of football and it hardly ever works. Yet, the prevent defense continues to live and thrive.
Strange.
That has baffled me as well, such a horrible approach. If you play scared, you lose. Happens far too often, yet they continue to do it. Very strange indeed.
It must work often enough that teams keep doing it.
I hate the “play to not lose” coaching, and it seems to fail often with the Vikings.

My lab/border collie mix (rip) once ate 3 pound of leftover cooked burgers. I had grilled burgers for the family, and I had to log into work for some silly emergency. Asked my teenage son to keep an eye on the dog until I could return to the kitchen.
As soon as he left the kitchen (took him less than 10 minutes to forget what I asked him to do) , dog found a way to get that plate of beef. Amazing thing is, she did not pull the plate off the counter top.
she was so happy that it was worth it. She was also not fed the next morning…..

North Dakota State defeated South Dakota 45-17 to advance to the 2023 FCS semifinals.
That was a surprisingly easy win for NDSU.
South Dakota State played a very tough opponent (Villanova) in very tough weather conditions. The Jacks pulled out a win. Go Jacks!!
NDSU is heating up at the right time.

In the Academy we Service Members gave each other a hard time constantly.
Finally a female student asked me, “do you guys really hate each other?”
I said ‘Hate?? they are like brothers, so we are required to poke fun at each other’.

Most people think with Jefferson back to full strength, that will be a huge lift to the Vikings’ offense as the team makes a playoff push. It’s believed, with Jefferson in the lineup, Minnesota should have a sizable advantage over the Raiders.
To me, the real question is, can Dobbs get the ball to JJ adeptly.
Exactly. He doesn’t throw like Cousins.

Maybe. Game speed is definitely different than practice, and of course the defensive players aren’t trying to hit you with real emphasis.
Yep. He hasnt played in 7 weeks or so. It might take him some time to get used to full game speed.
Vikings OC Wes Phillips was arrested Friday night for misdemeanor DWI. He has since been released on bond. He’ll accompany the team to Las Vegas.
I’m sure that won’t be a distraction.
I’ll never understand in the day and age of Uber, Lyft and taxi services how anyone can be so stupid to drive drunk. Especially an NFL player. I guarantee you the Vikings have a 24 hour car service for all players and coaching staff. Standard practice nowadays. I have zero tolerance for drunk drivers. Zero. When I was a teenager I carried a classmate to her grave because of a drunk driver. It’s inexcusable.

Besides, just paid for two weddings in three months, so I can use the money.
Yikes. I waited until I was 41 to get married, my bride was 28 at the time. Paid for it ourselves – Outdoors, 75 person guest list, open bar, DJ…. Total cost: $12k – which was cheap compared to other weddings we had attended beforehand. We decided to forgo the traditional wedding parties as we were actually married in the middle of the pandemic, private service with a party on our lawn afterwards. Wrote and recited our ‘real’ vows at the actual wedding and then we roasted each other at the actual reception. Wedding day was 5/9/20 but Covid backed our reception up until 9/11/21 – almost a year and a half apart. Non refundable deposits on everything so we just threw one big party. My wedding vows were epic – had the crowd cackling….
My wife and I got married at JP and went out to nice dinner to celebrate. We both went to work the next day.
But, we vowed we’d do it right for our kids and we did – as best I can tell.

I have put together a game plan for KOC.
Basic play – 4 vertical routes and Hock 12 yard curl in middle. Dobbs takes one step forward, hesitates, secures ball, and then takes off. Believe he can rush for over 150 yards.
Off the same play, instead a screen (left or right) to Hock.
Same scheme- delayed draw to whatever back is in there.
Should work. No interceptions, max use of leg talent. What else do we need?
So turn Dobbs into a modern day Cam Newton?

I’ve also got a secret play for final two minutes if we are behind. But I’ll hold off on that. It is an actual pass though.
Soooo… if you’re the Raiders, how do you approach this game from a defensive scheme point of view?
My plan aside, if I’m the Raiders.
Stack the middle of field. Play all WR’s with inside leverage making throws go to the boundries and outside. Same type of coverage for Hock, inside forcing all choice routes to the outside. Basically, take away easier inside throws.
Set edge rushers wider with control, making QB throw from the pocket.
Not that afraid of running game.
I’d say you are on track defensively. Take away the throws Dobbs makes well, collapse the pocket on him from the outside, and stuff the running game up the middle.

7 seasons, 20 games, never thrown for more than 268 yards in a game ever… OK… I guess I need to read the article because he’s singularly unimpressive so far in his career on paper. This year he has 13 passing TD’s and 6 rushing TD’s in 12 games.
