With the bye week there is no Viking football this weekend, which sucks since they ended last week on a sour note losing at home to a horrible Bears team the Vikings had no business losing.
Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the Day
What’s your best guess who starts at the Raiders December 10th? Personally I’d like to see Hall play so we can see what his level of sucktitude is, but there is too much still on the line for the Vikings to go into full on who cares just play the kid no matter what mode. My guess based on what KOC has said and the current depth chart is they play Mullens, again this is based on what the coach has said so if you have a problem with that take it up with the HC.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
Looks like this our thread for December.
Could reach 10,000 comments by the end of the month.
Pretty surprised at the outcome of the Chiefs vs the Packers game last night. The Chiefs had several opportunities to win the game, but couldn’t score. Very un-Chiefs like. Dammit.
UGH! Even sweet sister, who doesn’t know the history of home cooking on that field like we do, was livid over those last pass interference no calls. Stupid me, I thought maybe with Rodgers gone it wouldn’t still happen. Wrong. Sooo disappointing.
Part of the LameBlow Mystique so the NFL supports it.
Lots of people calling it out, including commenters during the game, and many sports writers including folks like Albert Breer. Nothing ever changes though. Makes you wonder if you want to keep following football.
Green Bay is getting more benefits from the refs.
Well they are at home so of course they are.
Collinsworth needs to just shut up.
One of the reasons I don’t watch TV is dumb announcers like him.
Jordan love keeps getting better.
This sucks.
He needs to give up a turnover to maintain the narrative.
I hate the Packers
As do all ‘real viking fans’.
Chiefs first drive results in a field goal and eats up 7:13. The first quarter ends with exactly two possessions. Zimmer would be loving this.
KC trading FGs for TD is suboptimal.
Packers first drive of the game has eaten up 7:32 of the quarter already.
Woo-hoo!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Niners! Made my sports weekend.
Hopefully we get a 2fer with FTP going down.
Sorry about Louisville yesterday Kathy.
I always cheer against the Packers. Thanks for the condolences about the Cards. Responded below, Louisville defense played lights out, offense looked like high school. Gonna take a while to get over this loss, and especially the KY loss. Still think Brohm had a pretty good first season.
Hopefully they will get a good Bowl placement and end the year on a high note for you.
Thank you, that would help.
I would very much love it if Louisville played Iowa and crushed them
Looks like USC, sigh.
1st and goal Eagles
Eagles Head of Security got a standing ovation when he got kicked out.
Typical Poopeater fans.
I hate them even more than the Packers.
‘More than the Packers’???
You must be new at this Viking Fan Thing.
#grins
Haha!
Hurts back in…
Marcus Mariotta in for Hurts…
Hurts back in per Yahoo Box Score.
Yep…
35-13 Niners!
Nineres have eaten up 6:34 on this drive, 3rd and 5 at the 18 yard line.
Hurts is hurt…
Never wish for that but if it happens I can do schadenfreude.
Me either. Might be a concussion.
Come on Niners!
Up 3 TDs in the 4th qtr.
After a VERY slow start, and falling behind 6-0, the Niners have scored three TD’s to take the lead 21-6. I want the Niners to win, because I can’t stand the Eagles.
Settling for those FGs early usually comes back to bite you.
‘San Francisco committed 12 yard penalty (Disqualification)’
First I heard of that penalty.
That was a goofy play. The head of security for the Eagles on the sidelines pushed the Niners LB, Greenlaw, and Greenlaw sorta retaliated by pushing his hand into the Security guys face. Both Greenlaw and the security guy were ejected. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen something like that.
Since the game is in Philly I wouldn’t be shocked if Greenlaw was reacting to some disgusting stuff Poopeater fans were saying.
And the team on the field get penalized for something that happens to a player on the sidelines? Not even involving the game??
I have never liked the Eagles or their fans. I know they have jail cells in the basement of the stadium and fan violence is the worst in the league there.
They take pride in getting a reaction from opposing teams and their fans.
Every time I start to feel sorry for anything that goes wrong in Philly (and there is a lot that goes wrong in Philly) I remember Philly Fans I figure that the majority are getting what they deserve.
Oaklands ‘Black Hole’ used to be the similar.
Yep
100%
Chargers beat the Patriots 6-0.
Ugly but a win is a win.
Belacheat is trying to shadow tank to get the best-est QB he can.
Not sure if he’s tanking… but the Patriots do need a QB. Looks like several teams might be in the market for a good QB next year.
And there are several good QBs coming out.
He is currently tied for the 2nd pick.
Don’t think he is bad enough to be 2 – 10 at this point.
Several good QB’s by what measure? Lots of first round picks have bombed in the NFL draft.
I have no doubt that Belacheat’s ego will convince him that he can pick and then develop a high draft pick QB.
I hope the Chiefs embarrass the Pukers on national TV.
FTP
Amen,
FTP always.
Looks like the Saints are lacking a QB after investing in Carr.
@poor Saints, I feel sooooo sorry for them.@
Laughing
I do feel bad for Carr, who’s a good guy. I don’t understand what happened to him this year. He was never a stud, but he was pretty good.
I might have a smidgin of sympathy for Carr but Zero for the ‘Aints’.
Understood.
Detroit already up 14 – 0 after a few minutes after a gift interception by Carr.
Crap
Now 21 – 0 still in the first.
I hadn’t decided who to root for in that game but I guess I will go with Detroit since that will make my blood pressure happier.
27 – 21 after 3 quarters.
Might end up being a close game after all.
Winston in for Carr,
NO driving with 3m left down 33 – 28.
Never mind, 4 straight incompletions by JW so Detroit ball.
So I guess it is official.
College Football Playoff: Michigan, Washington, Texas and Alabama make the field as Florida State is left out
https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football-playoff-michigan-washington-texas-and-alabama-make-the-field-as-florida-state-is-left-out-172712411.html
“I hit at least 6 approach shots over the green”
Such a Tiger Woods ‘wanabe’.
Laughing…
Played some pretty good golf today except for two things. Couldn’t putt at all and I hit at least 6 approach shots over the green. There were no yardage markers that I could find, and my app on my phone didn’t have the course on it. My approach at 18 was a perfect example. I’m guessing I’m about 90 yards to the hole, and I have a pitching wedge in my hand. I hit a perfect wedge right at the flag, and it looks like it lands and disappears in the hole for eagle. My playing partners are all high fiving me… and jumping for joy. Then we get up to the green and see my ball 45 feet past the hole at the back edge of the green.
Shot 41 on the front, and 44 on the back.
Good score overall I suspect based on all of the talking/chatting last summer about trying to get under 90.
Yes, shooting in the 80’s is generally considered a good score for weekend golfers like me.
According to the NGF, only 21% of golfers get an average score of 80 to 89. This would mean that only 26% of golfers regularly break 90.
I remember my grandfather (papa) was quite happy when he ‘shot his age’, believe he was about 80 at the time but was too young to remember much about it other than the party.
Goose when I told him there was no Vikings football this weekend…..👇
Still some fun football today.
Noon game I am rooting for Houston, since I still despise the Denver coach and QB.
Later game, the 49rs, for a myriad of obvious reasons.
Night game,
FTP
Been reading that almost 70% of respondents to a poll think the Vikings should start Jaren Hall against the Raiders next week. For the most part, the reasoning seems to boil down to “we’re not going anywhere so start the rookie”.
There seems to be a faction that believes Dobbs will retain his spot as the starter.
Guess we’ll see soon enough who KOC decides has the goods.
A game that must be won for playoff chances – an untested rookie and a journeyman that turns the ball over? Guess that’s why fans aren’t running the team.
JJ back – maybe someone who can throw the ball down the field to him.
Dont know why folks don’t get that.
Makes sense to me to start Hall or Mullens. Whomever coach decides.
Only mistake IMO would be continuing to roll with Dobbs. Good story while it lasted, but the turnover machine should not play again.
Argument for Mullens. Knows the system and has some decent experience.
Argument against Mullens. Not very mobile, and throws too many Interceptions.
Argument for Hall. You drafted him, he was named the starter because of injuries to Kirk and Mullens, and looked decent on two drives until he tried to head butt a larger player instead of sliding. Play him to find out if he is a long term solution, even as a backup.
Argument against Hall. Inexperience, and @he went to the same school as Zach Wilson so he must be bad.@
Play Hall, with Mullens as the backup, move Dobbs to 3rd.
I would like to see Hall as he is new and shiny and has more of a future than Mullins. I don’t claim that he will be better than the other two but I think he will be more interesting to watch.
If KOC believes one of the other two is a better option fine, but I will of course complain if they don’t succeed. That is a right for all fans everywhere I believe.
Don’t understand what happened to Dobby. KOC kept saying in his pressers that Dobby had the option to run when needed but he became a poor pocket passer. It could be that defenses schemed him better limiting his options. If so that was rude of them.
Never good this time of year, and you’re in the playoff hunt, that your starting QB is unsettled.
So you are saying that “if you have 3 QBs you actually have none”, thereby upping John Madden by one QB.
Yep, one trumps three all day long.
“Trumps”
Flagged for politics!
Ben and Bow are benevolent dictators.
As long as Barney Fife, Bart the Mall Cop and Rosco P. Coltrane don’t come back and start oppressing the poor underclass, aka us.
My WAG on the CFP…
MichWashFSUAla/GA
You’re either up early, or up late…
Early. Wake up everyday around 4 am.
No alarm needed.
Of course I can’t stay up much past 9pm.
Same for me, with one hour difference. Bedtime is 10 PM, and I wake up at 5 am every day, with or without the dogs waking me up.
Just read an article that the 4th team has to be either Alabama or Texas.
Texas beat Alabama earlier this year. and Alabama just beat #1 Georgia.
Article suggested both if they exclude FSU because they lost their starting QB.
But doubt that a Undefeated Champ of a Power 5 conference gets left out.
According to that article Georgia and Ohio St. have no shot after being rated the #1 and 2 teams all year.
Rooting for Kathy’s Louisville vs FSU.
Probably for Michigan as well so the Big 10 have at least one time in the playoffs.
I would say Iowa is finished as I doubt that they can come back for down 17 – 0 with their offense, but I don’t want to jinx anything so I won’t say anything about it.
Louisville – FSU is a defensive battle currently 3 – 3 half way thru the 3rd.
Why is FSU going for it on 4th and 12 on their own 23 up by 4 with 11m left?
They lost 11 on the play and Louisville takes over in the Red Zone.
Down goes Louisville, sorry Kathy.
Down goes Iowa.
Drama will be less as a result.
But who will be the 1 loss team added to the playoffs and why?
Feel bad for the Louisville defense, who played lights out. Offense looked like they never played college football before, ugh.
Two very disappointing weekends in a row. Lose to KY and FSU. I will try to get back to that place where Brohm’s first season exceeded my expectations, but it will take a while.
Alabama up 17 – 7 on Georgia at the half.
That could shake up the Collage Championship Picture a bit.
Down goes Georgia!!
That will make things interesting.
Lets see what Michigan and FSU can do to further muddy the waters.
I think Georgia has to be in.
I’m assuming Michigan wins easy.
If FSU wins
Michigan, Wash, Georgia, FSU
If FSU loses
Michigan, Wash, Georgia, Alabama
I think an argument can be make for any of the 1 loss teams.
Why Georgia over Ohio State? Their One loss was to a high ranked team.
Everything is just speculation and bias other than Washington at this point.
I just want to watch the fur fly after these two last games.
I think OSU is out.
TX and Alabama just moved ahead of them.
So 1 loss to an undefeated #3 ranked team by 3 points eliminates them?
Again, all the 1 loss teams have arguments for and against them.
And the ‘experts’ are often wrong like Oregon favored by 9.5 over Washington looks pretty stupid today.
LOL…
So a one loss team that just beat the #1 team in the nation is out?
Heads gonna roll from somewhere on Sunday night.
Thanks for proving my point.
‘all the 1 loss teams have arguments for and against them’
Yep. Didn’t say you were wrong on that point.
I don’t think that there are any ‘right or wrong’ points here.
All the arguments have some validity and relying on ‘experts’ to decide is flawed at best.
The system is what is flawed and teams are going to get screwed out of a spot in the playoff. It should have been expanded to 8 teams years ago.
It’s always going to be flawed, unless it’s defined by wins and losses and who gets in based on winning the conference and tie-breakers etc…..
They finally went to a 4 team playoff because the prior system was flawed.
Its going to 12 teams next year.
The complaints will be who got screwed for not being in the top 12.
This is so true. there will be 10 or more teams that feel like they were screwed now, instead of 3-4.
At least we never have to worry about that in MN, since the Goofers suck.
That non-review of a dropped pass that was called complete on 4th down was brutal.
10 point swing, or at least 7. Not a big fan of either program, but I do not wanna see Alabama in the playoffs after being gifted the win in a packers-like fashion.
Boise St./UNLV getting a bit wild.
47yd Pick 6 followed by at 57yd TD pass 1m 13s later.
21 – 14 Good Guys.
Followed by a 70yd rushing TD 1m 25s after that.
28-14 now.
Crazy
Tiger on 18 from 144 yards out, hits it 189 yards… over the green.
Let me guess.
That is ‘suboptimal’???
Laughing… “just a bit outside”…
Just making sure, as golf is ‘odd’.
‘The Lower your score the Better it is’.
Yes, in this case, Tiger’s target (the hole) was 144 yards away, and he hit the shot 45 yards too far. From 144 yards out he was looking to get the ball within 15 feet of the hole. “Missed it by THAT much”.
Tiger misses a 23 inch birdie putt… crap.
Cardinals are signing Dan Chisena to their active roster. Good thing we’re not playing them this year!
Arizona trying to get the inside scoop on the Stealers?
Maybe
They don’t have much time to squeeze info out of him and utilize it. They play them tomorrow.
Let’s see if any of the other ‘Championship Games’ today can top Oregon/Washington.
Texas up 21 – 7 over Oklahoma St after one qtr.
My wife went to Texas A&M for her Bachelors, and Texas for her Masters. Yes, she’s a bit conflicted.
How was brunch?
Texas pulling away, 35 – 14 at the half.
Brunch is always good. Went by the Bonefish Grill and had egg and bacon taco’s with french toast sticks and Mimosa’s.
My wife is more Aggie than Longhorn, but she’s a Texas girl through and through.
Seems odd to me to the ‘a Texas girl through and through’ but also a ‘metal head’ that goes to Europe for concerts.
I was stationed in Texas for 5yrs and did not meet any ‘Texas Girls’ like that.
She’s electic, for sure. Can two step with the best of them, and loves metal.
I don’t get ‘Metal’ but I like not having ‘sophisticated tastes’. Life is easier and cheaper being happy with less expensive, more readily available options.
But I don’t get ‘Rap’, Jazz or most Opera either.
Heading out for brunch. See you guys later.
Enjoy.
Tom Bliss is a data scientist for the NFL, and every year, he puts together the win probability added for each team via luck. This statistic comes about by adding up dropped interceptions and passes by opponents, field goals and extra points attempted by opponents, and fumble recoveries by either team. The results of these plays are added up to determine how likely or unlikely teams are to win because of them.
Based on this stat through Week 11, the Vikings are not only the unluckiest team at -195.7%, but they are nearly twice as unlikely as every other team in the league. The Chicago Bears are the next unluckiest team at -100.2%.
Made it to SoFL after 4.5 hour drive with Moma and the Bridezilla. After checking in went to bar had a double Jack and a cold beer – felt fine then.
Thanks for all the thoughtful comments.
As DE suggested yesterday, after 3 colleges and 2.5 marriages. I’m starting to see the end of the money burn trail – at least I hope.
Will say this, having grown up in the North, Florida is beautiful this time of the year. If I wasn’t so technically challenged, I’d post a picture.
As to the QB question, hope you all solved that yesterday. Either way, I’m guessing we probably need more than 10 points to beat the Raiders.
JR, good to see you made it through. Time to relax a little now. You should read BSF’s argument with himself about Kirk Cousins below. Hilarious.
Thanks – read thru it. Believe your earlier comment was spot on for QBOTF – someone like Herbert. Tall, big accurate arm, and hangs in the pocket well and only takes off when absolutely has to.
BSF has his football takes act together.
Since the Vikings have the weekend off, I guess the mods are taking the weekend off also.
Gonna play golf for the first time in a long time tomorrow. Playing a course with tons of water and lots of trees and out of bounds stakes. Friend told me to bring plenty of balls. Told me he lost 6 balls on the first 7 holes. I think this is a course where I will play very, very conservatively. Several greens are almost completely surrounded by water, so definitely laying up to a solid wedge distance on them.
Joe Flacco will be starting for the Browns against the Rams on Sunday afternoon. Wow…
For the record, I am a big Justin Herbert fan. I think he has it all and is a top shelf QB.
Unfortunately, the Chargers are 29-31 under Herbert though, so in the minds of some, he’s a mediocre QB.
I like Herbert.
A pocket passer that can run/scramble if needed.
Pulling for him against New England tomorrow.
Beautiful, sunny morning here in Tampa. 70 degrees currently, with a high of 82 expected. Golfers are out, plunking their balls into the lake. Coffee is good, and all is well. Wife is making breakfast, and the cat is fed. Great start to the day.
currently 18 degrees outside. Dogs almost had rabbit for breakfast. I think Thor is losing a step since he is 9 years old.
9 years old is a good run for a dog. Nice that you’ve had him that long. Great that he can still move pretty good and he gets to enjoy being outside. Too many people barely walk their dogs, much less let them run.
Oregon – Washington is on tonight (actually just starting now) I thought it was tomorrow.
I think it is the best of the Championship games, glad I found out in time.
Bo Nix vs Michael Penix Jr.
Undefeated Washington which beat Oregon earlier this year is a 9.5 pt underdog.
Hoping for a ‘Barn Burner’.
9.5 pt underdog for WA?
That makes zero sense.
Teams are similar.
Oregon looks like a pop Warner team.
Evidently all Washingtons wins have been close while Oregon has been blowing people out. So ‘Experts’ think Oregon must be better.
Wash up 20 – 3 just before half.
I love it when the ‘experts’ are wrong.
Wash up 34 – 24 with under 3m to play.
Oregon won’t be covering that 9.5pt spread.
You should get a small Penix jersey
You think my Penix needs its own jersey??
Not necessarily. I’m just thinking a small Penix is probably more fitting, for you (and Ben, probably).
Troubling that you spend your time thinking about the guys on this site and wondering how big their Penix’s are.
Some might call me a Penix fan.
TMI
It’s December now so I think I am going to watch Elf and White Christmas tonight. That should get me in the spirit.
One down.
It’s a fun movie.
Don’t forget Die Hard and Scrooged
300
Auto Rec for 300 men in leather speedos.
Saw that last weekend.
Good Ad.
Realistic?? I’m on the fence.
I don’t think so but cute idea. My wife’s grandma had dementia. That’s tough to watch.
Absolutely
Loved it…my experience with loved ones with Alzheimer’s/Dementia validates much of the add….they remember the distant past much better than the recent, music is a powerful ally in fighting dementia…
My mom could remember the past just fine, but she would ask me what day it was about 5 times in a 10 minute conversation.
The ad was a tear jerker for those of us that are softies.
I cried and blew my nose…guess I lost my man card.
My father has dementia, and that commercial just makes me sad.
Last time I went to visit he had no clue who the hell I was. All the music and reminiscence therapy may work for some, but absolutely not in his case.
Could be because his alcohol abuse caused the decline, or at the very least sped up the process.
