Well, one hour to go, but I’ll probably not watch the show. I hate the over-hyped crap they do. This is the “entertainment” part of sports entertainment. It gets pretty ridiculous to me.
If the entertainment part bothers you (and I get it) you can always just follow the NFL.com draft tracker. Updates pretty regular and you donโt have to listen to Mel Kiper Jr endlessly yelling:

That is awesome news! I suggested to a couple neighbors to put “no repairs” in their listing, and both sold theirs with that understanding. These are nice patio homes, and didn’t really need much anyway. Most everyone here is retired and pays cash, so we don’t have to worry about appraisals and mortgages.
We have some issues that would have to be fixed, like trees causing block wall to lean, Trees would have to be removed before wall is repaired.
They plan to do heavy remodel prior to listing it.

I have not been this fired up for a draft since we got Teddy.
I’m looking forward to it as well. Although no guarantees with the draft, there is always hope that you can land a winner. I can’t watch Darnold for a whole year, a few games to get the rookie ready is OK.
Nix is supposed to be the most NFL ready QB in the draft.
And some experts I respect have him as the same tier as JJ.
So probably why I am comfortable with Stick and Pick.
Nix isn’t the most NFL ready QB in the draft, he just happens to be the closest to his ceiling with the least improvement probable.
They probably came up with that since he has the most collage starts of any QB in history.
Will be interesting to see which route the Kumbaya Krew will take to get their QBOTF. This draft will make or break their tenure.

This does bring up an interesting point. Do you think Harbaugh has asked JJ where he would prefer to go? I still think the GM is going to go with the highest bidder, but if it came down to a pretty close trade either way, would Jim take JJ’s best interest to heart?

I wouldn’t want to be Ryan Poles in this draft. Here’s why…
I lived in Chicago from 1995 – 2003. I’ve always listened to a lot of sports radio and back then (although I hear comments from people that live there now or have recently that this is still a thing), their fans and sports commentators were still hung up on the ’85 Bears. It’s all they wanted to talk about and every season they would quickly turn on whatever GM, coach or QB they had at the time if things weren’t going their way. It was and is a high-pressure NFL market, especially, IMO for QBs.
I remember one night in 1997 shortly after it had been announced that the Bears had traded for Rick Mirer, I was having dinner with a group at a nice steak house in Evanston. In walks a bright and shiny Rick Mirer with his posse, strutting through the joint like he owned the place. I turned the group at my table and said, “Check out Rick Mirer looking like his shit don’t stink. That poor kid has no idea what he’s in for and I bet he doesn’t last more than 2 seasons with the Bears.” As it turns out, he only played 7 games for Chicago and was gone the following season.
Fast forward to 2024. I believe Caleb Williams has all the physical skills to become a great NFL QB but my biggest question about him is his mental fortitude, for lack of a better way to say it. It’s not just the crying in his momma’s lap after a loss. It’s not just because early on his dad was very vocal about there being only a few teams his son would play for. More recently, he responded to a Tweet from someone that was questioning, in a very non-critical way from my view, whether Williams has ever faced adversity. Caleb decided it would be a good idea to respond directly and this was his reply:
Year 1: โDidnโt start freshman year.โ
Year 2: โPopped hammy championship game 1st Q. Lost bc of my hammy.โ
Year 3: โ7-5 my last year of college ball.โ
I have two problems with this. First, why even respond? If he’s going to get butt hurt by some random poster who simply wondered if Williams has faced any real adversity, how is he going to respond when a million angry, drunk, Italian beef-fueled Chicago fans and sports commentators are calling him out? Secondly, if that’s what he considers “adversity”, he basically made the original Tweeters point. He hasn’t really faced any serious diversity.
That said, I don’t think Poles has any choice but to rely on confirmation bias to support drafting Williams, because doing anything else would be near suicide. He’d be killed in the press and would put any choice other than Williams into an even worse situation right out of the gate. Maybe Williams will prove me wrong but if I had to bet, I think he’ll bust in Chicago.
I’d also add, he is going to a defensive minded head coach whose team has sucked.

I feel bad for you.
I actually liked living in Chicago. I know it’s changed over the years but we spent 5 of those years living in the city before my wife and I had our first kid. We had a blast…a lot to do, great restaurants, theater, shopping, bars, etc. My only real beef, pun intended, was with Bears fans/commentators…annoying AF (but the fact these were also some of the Jordan years with the Bulls made up for it).
That said, I’m not sure I’d like it as much today based on the increase in crime issues throughout the city.
The media says crime is decreasing and the crime increasing narrative is a right wing lie.
Well FBI just instituted new reporting procedures that the cities/states are still trying to figure out, and all of a sudden ‘crime is down’ just time for an election. Suspicious.

I had heard that a midwest city, Milwaukee?, reported that their crime was up 8% and the FBI data showed it was down by 3% for the same time period.

Giants sent a ton of people to Ann Arbor to work out McCarthy on Easter Sunday – according to Peter Schrager. Claims it wasnโt a smoke screen and they have genuine interest in McCarthy and are looking to move on from Jones, preferably in a trade.
McCarthy has stated recently the team heโs been in the most contact with was NY. Had glowing things to say about Daboll and Mike Kafka – similar to the glowing things he had to say about Minny and KOC fwiw.
Schrager also has McCarthy going to Minny @ 1.07 after trading with Tennessee (and keeping 1.23 in that scenario) – but he couched it this morning by saying he โchickenedโ out on putting McCarthy in NY, but thinks itโs a real possibility the Giants draft McCarthy at 1.06.
Schrager doesnโt always get it right – had San Francisco taking Mac Jones a few years ago, but heโs as good a source as any in the league imo.
I definitely think the NYG could draft McCarthy.
But I don’t think there is any way that Jones is traded.
His 2024 cap hit is $48 million.

Correct. I donโt think a trade is likely either – just what Schrager said the Giants would prefer – his dead cap hit this year is almost $70 million. But next years dead cap is $22 million – less than what the Vikings have invested in that guy that used to play here. So they could just let him walk free next year and survive the hit.

Last night my wife and I made a series of clues so the other could find their anniversary present. Like I handed her a slip of paper that said, “In case of fire.”
So then she then guessed that was the fire extinguisher and found the next clue there: “Behind the scenes of your favorite show,” which eventually led her to look on the back of the TV, etc., until she was eventually led to her present.
So, as you can see, all of my clues made sense. Then it was my turn.
She gave me clues like “Stone-age moments…”
I’m like…”Huh? What does that even mean?”
I’m looking everywhere around the house at anything that could possiblly be related to stones or maybe cavemen and time or whatever else. Finally, I give up and asked for hints that eventually led to my wife just telling me to go look under the TV remote of my “man cave” corner of the basement.
I get the “man-cave” allusion, but what part of the clue “Stone-age moments” would led a person to look under a TV remote?
She insisted it all made sense. Moments=TV remote.

I don’t think money or fame would be the driving factors in my decision. It would depend more upon which version of Hilary Swank showed up (i.e. the one who wears makeup and does her hair or the skank Swank), the lighting in the bar and, most important, how many drinks into the night I am when she walks in.
Depending upon the answer to that final question, which version of her and lighting may not even matter.

I only have a few jerseys.
All of them players from when I was a kid.
Most are Vikings jerseys, with the exception of a vintage Bo Jackson jersey I bought at Scheels (also got a vintage Twins jersey that day) I bought them off a clearance rack and paid less than a $100 combined for both. Iโm convinced to this day the Bo Jackson was a mistake as itโs an official NFL jersey (long tail, sewed-on numbers and letters) Iโve never worn it – loaned it to my buddy Darius one year at Halloween so he could be Ice Cube – otherwise it hangs in my closet.
The Vikings jerseys I have are:
John Randle – itโs basically shredded but my wife will wear it on game day over a t-shirt.
Cris Carter – My first Vikings jersey, also hangs in my closet. Couldnโt wear it if I wanted to. Itโs 30 years old.
Chris Doleman – Wife gifted to me a few years ago. Wore it once: Vikings comeback over Indy in โ22. This one is special to me as my wife had a local screen printer make a replica of the โ40 for 60โ patch the team wore in โ89.
Iโm weird about jerseys as I wonโt buy a jersey of a player younger than me. I have no real good reason for this.
I own two jerseys, neither of which I bought, they were gifts. Many years ago I got a Studwell jersey for my birthday. A couple years later I got a Johnny Randle one for christmas. Studwell is home purple, Randle is away white. Not sure which to wear tonight.

I have enjoyed the various mock drafts, since I do not watch enough college ball to know who the Vikings should take. Ignorance has never stopped me from sharing my useless opinion, and it is not stopping me today.
QotD – I want the Vikings to get Maye without overpaying. So I am fine if they get a QB and Defensive player in round 1 by standing pat.
What I think they will do – Overpay for JJ or Maye, have no pick at 23, and give me something to complain about forever.
Crazy plan B – Trade JJ to AZ, get Maye, get a defensive stud at 11 and a WR at 23.
No matter what happens, I will find something to complain about while enjoying the show.

Reports are that KOC has a massive hardon for Maye, but also that the FO will only give so much to get up for him. If they draft Nix it’ll be at 23 or later.

I am sure tonight will go without any excitement and everyone here and Vikings fans around the world will approach whatever poise, understanding, and pride in the knowledge that the folks at the helm know way more than any of use otherwise we would be the ones getting paid to run the draft for the Vikings.
I went to see soundgarden at red rocks in 2014. I knew who the opening band would be, but I was seated quite a ways up. When things got started this dude with short, cropped style hair wearing basketball shorts, sneakers, and a plain white t shirt came out and started playing a keyboard. I was like wtf is this, I’m going to get a beer. Once I got down to the beer stand by the bandstand I was probably about 20 feet away from the guy playing and realized it was Trent Reznor, the rest of the band came out a few minutes later. I had gone to see soundgarden, but NIN completely blew them off the stage, not only were they fantastic, but soundgarden was terrible, something was going on with equipment or something the first couple of songs and after that Cornell and the gang just mailed it in with an IDGAF attitude.
That is awesome. I love NIN and still use the song โCloserโ when testing or adjusting speakers. Too bad about Soundgarden. Theyโre probably my 2nd favorite band of the grunge movement behind AiC. Cornellโs solo stuff is pretty great too.
There’s actually albums that are considered reference albums that have such a clean mix they are often used to do just what you are saying. Two of the go to albums are RATM first album and APC’s first album. Moth are incredible sonically, also great tunes!
It wasn’t the worst show I’d ever seen, but you could tell the band was pissed that something was off and then just was like fuck this, Cornell’s voice was still fantastic but all the instrumentals were out of sync or didn’t sound right, which is made more evident by the acoustics of red rocks.
I knew a girl who had a cousin who recorded a song with Trent Reznor.
They are a bucket list band for me, (well Soundgarden too but, I doubt that ever happens lol). And at Red Rocks… I hate you! lol. Red Rocks is the coolest venue ever and I saw Billy Joel play his 100th show sitting on the floor of Madison Square Garden! I saw Tenacious D play with the Colorado Symphony as well as Trampled By Turtles the next night. It RULED! Oddly enough, going to Colorado this summer, already got tickets to 311 at Red Rocks, looking to possibly score another set of tickets. Looking at either Ryan Bingham or Third Eye Blind/Yellow Card at Red Rocks or Blink 182 but that’s at a bigger venue. Just waiting for ticket prices to drop on Stub Hub.
Trent is the FUCKING MAN!!!! I know a guy who has booked every band and booked shows since the early 90s. He’s gotten to meet everyone. I asked him one time who the worst humans he ever met were, he said KoRn, it was in their big druggie days, just awful, terrible humans.
So I asked who the best was and he said Trent. He said he wasn’t even a NIN fan when he brought them to Sioux Falls in the 90s but he said he was the coolest most down to earth rock star he’s ever encountered. Back stage wasn’t drugs and girls, it was hanging and chilling with fans and just couldn’t be nicer.
Ryan Bingham at RR would be awesome. Iโve been a fan of his since Crazy Heart.

My daughter texted me yesterday and said that one of her co-workers said that the Vikings are going to go with Darnold at qb. Of course, her co-worker is a Packer’s fan, so he is probably an idiot.

Should be a very interesting night. How will KAM’s plan work out? He has lots of options. Don’t trade away too much. Get a quality QB and strengthen the D-Line.
This is probably the most important day in Vikings land since the NFC Championship 2009, if they are actually going for a QB that they think can be the guy.
This is the hinge the Kwesi/KOC regime swings upon. Either we become relevant or we flounder through another four seasons as we have to “wait and see…”
Regardless, I’m glad they are maybe at least going to try something daring. 2018 to the present is about the most milquetoast string of years I have experienced. All we had for interest was the luckiest season ever in that stretch.
