Just got back from Escrow Company/Notary filling out, signing, providing info for all of the Docs to sell Cali Home so we can move to our IdaHome.
It was 1+ hr each way but after looking at all the documents on-line I opted to go in so I don’t ‘check the wrong box’ and then have to redo the paperwork.
Ok, now to check on all of the ‘fun stuff’ I missed while I was gone.

I really want to do a Danube river cruise. My wife balks at the flying which I can’t blame her. When we did the Rhine cruise, once we got there she loved it.

Those little river cruise boats are nice. More intimate. You get to know everyone but can always find a secluded place to hang out and watch the shore slide by.

But, from what I hear River Cruises are alot my spacious, you can see shore all the time. And your in a different city every day walking around all day. Just eat dinner (great food) and sleep on the boat.

from what I hear (myKids) it’s like going on a vacation to Europe and seeing several of the notable cities. The advantage is your not haulling baggage around and in a different hotel every day or so – big pain.
Food is suppose to be great and living quarters spacious – lot like a regular hotel room.
Europe is cool, been there twice. History around each corner.
I did one tour in Berlin and one in Stuttgart while in the Army.
Some amazing places over there.
Considering Rome or Ireland eventually..

In my job, got to see most of Europe. Just about all the countries are really neat to see. a lot of good food, wine (other spirits) and there is never a shortage of churches to see.
It’s historic, everyone should see.
Stationed there 2x, Berlin was amazing especially since the wall was still up when I was stationed there.
Most of the churches not active anymore since the Gov there takes 10% if you register a faith and give it to them.
Florence is a must if you go to Italy.
Rome would be huge, just have to keep a hand on the wallet/purse.

The Rhine cruise we went on was idyllic. The staff had an amazing memory of what stateroom we had, what we wanted to drink, our names, etc…you travel in little gaggles with your tour group and a local guide with ear buds so you can hear what they are saying…one night the ship was motoring past the old base we were stationed at ages 7-11 and the captain called down to our cabin to wake me so I could watch from the top deck as we went by (local (Baden Baden) airport now). They even let me steer the ship for five minutes or so when I got cold and came onto the bridge to warm up.
That’s a lot of what I have heard from folks – they all loved it.

Before a PMQ opened up on base, we were billeted in a little village on the river called Plittersdorf. The host family’s son was my age and I remember riding bike into Rastatt which was next door. One time we went to the pool and goaded each other to dive off the high board. I was 8 and to this day I feel like that board was 100 feet in the air.
On the river cruise, we toured the Mercedes factory in Rastatt (where the man of the host family house worked). Man that factory had grown leaps and bounds. I would have loved to have visited some of the places Dieter and I went to, I could just feel the memories in Rastatt. That posting (1976-1980) was just magical, that was a time when there was no TV, no telephone, you just went and knocked on people’s doors until you found a couple of other boys to hang out with, take a sandwich and you’d be gone all day, but better be home by six for supper or you’d get grounded.

I am at my end.
My wife is sick – she gets sinus infections that put her down for days. Has since I’ve known her. Allergy issues bring them on. She starts getting allergy shots later this month – hoping they help.
I know the routine by now: lots and lots of: juice, sleep, tissues, meds, sleep, juice, puppy cuddles, snacks (cold stuff as she always gets a sore throat too) more juice, more sleep – repeat until a person again. I don’t mind taking care of her, in fact it’s a husband’s job to do so and it reminds me of how fortunate I am to have someone to look after.
But her GD sister drives me nuts. Her and her husband live in Gig Harbor, Washington. He is a private IT consultant and she tutors about 12 hours a week from home as she’s fluent in French (although not common sense) He travels a lot, leaving her home alone to plan dinner parties and book club outings. Often fretting over minor details like the color of cocktail napkins or how to make the perfect sangria. She likes to bounce these things off my wife in these moments. Often in rapid-fire-text sessions where she’s expecting answers in question 8 and my wife will be on question 10.
So today she starts doing this and my wife doesn’t respond as she’s doped up, passed out and trying to recover. So SIL starts interrogating me machine gun style and wanting to know why Christa (my wife, named after the astronaut) isn’t answering her texts. I explain that she’s very sick, very tired and she’s fast asleep and likely out of commission for the next several days.
Not a good enough explanation for my SIL who insists that I wake my wife up and have her look at her phone asap. She even calls me – and I rarely talk on the phone. So begrudgingly and against my better judgement I go up and wake my wife and explain that Adrienne (named after the whiny broad that brought Rocky down) really needs her to check her phone.
And fortunately she did or she would have missed out on a poorly shot video of my niece singing the ABC’s. And not the first time
My wife is one of five sisters and for years was the organizer of all things, as in “Mrs. MT will contact everyone and make sure they know where and when the party is”. Myself, as essentially an only child (my sister is ten years younger) was perplexed by how much time and energy she gave to her sisters for no appreciation.
It took her father dying and the figurative hate dumped on her by her sisters over the whole process of dealing with s*** to make her back away from that role. I’d like to say one of the other sisters picked up the slack but basically they have grown apart.
Overall it has been good for her mental health, although I have to pick up some of the slack of the seemingly endless conversations about our daily lives.
My wife is in a similar role. Its just her and her sister – but my wife is the youngest of the too and has often played caretaker/nurturer/ for her sister. It’s come to a head once – Big sister would often belittle little sister in front of others, usually in an embarrassing fashion – and little sister decided she’d no longer suffer and told her off. They didn’t talk for about a year after that – now they’re thick as thieves but it’s more of an equal dynamic. I’m happy for my wife. I want her to be close to her sibling.
But man she’s a lot.

Sorry Mjolnir. That sounds unfun. Also, my sympathies to your wife about the sinus infection. I just got over one, and blamed travel,. My wife pointed out that my allergies were terrible prior to the vacation, and the dry air in the airplane and ship probably just made things worse.

I’m getting there. Their conduct during and after my FIL’s memorial service was gross. Only time I’ve seen someone use bereavement for a full-on vacation.

I would say most people are mowing from March to November out here. It depends on if someone is committed to real grass or just field grass and weeds.
I’ve had to mow in February before if it is a mild to warm winter.

Sounds like a good weekend. I’m gonna make about 10 pounds of summer sausage, 10 pounds of kielbasa and probably close to 30 pounds of brats. My freezer will be overflowing with goodness. I still have like 10 pounds of pepper sticks, maybe 20 pounds of homemade breakfast sausage, a bunch of Montana ranch raised ground beef. After I get a moose tag in a couple weeks we’ll be looking good for the winter.

Defenses need to be built to kill the QB, IMO. It is a QB league. If you don’t have an elite QB, you better be able to make elite QBs uncomfortable or you are DOOMED.
