Man, my sincere apologies for my prolonged absence. I won’t bore you with the details, but it’s been an interesting, frustrating, and hectic past couple of weeks.
Anyway, here we are. It’s Sunday, so it’s game day. The Vikings play tonight when they play the hated Packers. The Vikings are test driving Jaren Hall while they have the opportunity. I think it’s a smart move, at least you can see what you have.

At NFL.com, Russell Wilson was approached by the Broncos and asked to alter his contract. The team told him that if he didn’t change his injury guarantee, he’d be benched. Well, he didn’t change it. Now he’s benched.

I know not everyone is around on a Sunday, but I may not have much chance to be on the rest of the week. For the medical types, my grandson’s diagnosis is MPAL (mixed-phenotype acute leukemia). It is rather rare as it is comprises less than 5% of the acute leukemia cases. They treat it like ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) with chemotherapy and steroids. While there is some improvement, they would like it to be faster so they are going to add an additional medicine. With the fever under control, he has reverted to a typical 3 year old boy as he is playing, fussing with his sister and shoving copious amounts of food into his face. The steroids are making him plump out and are apparently giving him moments of ‘roid rage. The little dude got tons of Christmas presents because in addition to family presents he got presents from volunteer groups that give to kids in the hospital, plus his oncology doctor brought him a big pile of presents. In those presents where a plastic sword and shield, plus a light saber. After Grammie had to take the sword away from him for hitting people, he pouted and then learned to only hit things. After that me and him had a few sword/light saber fights. That was fun.

But context on the QB position.
The NFC is very competitive right now. Refs gave game to Cowboys last night and it took 4 interceptions for Detroit to bet us. Eagles and Niners have shown vulnerabilities.
as such, see no need for a major blowup or something for us next year. Pick up a good edge rusher and a cover DB and see.
QB – no training wheelers or back ups. No Cousins – fine – but put someone under center that is at least as good, or better, than cousins (sorry had to use his name here).
Our strength is our WR corp and passing game – don’t waste it.

Yep… good rundown. I still don’t have much faith in KAM or KOC. Sorry. I just don’t think either one of them are really stellar. We will need a competent QB next year. That would mean someone with both arm talent and brains. Someone who can process quickly, and deliver the ball accurately, while probably being in a congested pocket with a lot of pressure.
We’ll see how it unfolds.

It is not Tuesday, but since you ask, I will talk about the QB I love to hate.
Kirk will be the starter in 2024. And even I would be ok with that vs Russel Wilson.
Wilson is a complete douche.
I would like our QB room to be Hall/Rookie/Mullens( I guess) and play the Rookie as soon as he is ready.
I hope Hall looks good enough for the team to not bring Kirk back.
Not expecting Hall to play better than Kirk, but good enough to allow the team some flexibility.
1 Playoff win after 6 seasons of Kirk. Time to move on.
If Hall does not play well this week and next, that pretty much guarantees Kirk’s agent gets more money from the Vikings.
I think the team will still draft a QB after signing Kirko to a 3 year deal, but since Kwesi is so smart he will probably wait until round 6 for a QB.
I know some think Kirk is long gone since he will be able to get paid more from a different team(WA maybe?) and people may have some insight I do not. I am not part of the Family gatherings.
The only faulty logic here is the 6 seasons with 1 playoff win piece. It’s irrational. Cousins is the most productive QB over a five season period in Vikings history, and only three QB’s threw more TD’s than he did in the NFL in that time span. This year, he was leading the league in TD’s and was second in passing yards when he went down. So your position is getting rid of him is the solution to winning more? I can’t buy that. Cousins has been the reason the Vikings could contend. Getting rid of him will not make the Vikings better. This is like saying the Chargers should dump Herbert. It’s not rational.
All that said, I do not see Cousins being under center for the Vikings next year. I could see KAM bringing Wilson in as his replacement.
And a final thought. When our offense is turning the ball over by every way imaginable, it is good and a load for any defense.
Now, our defense has improved, but it’s still to much smoke and mirrors. You want to improve the team, draft some top notch defensive talent.

I kinda figured this was a typo… I do hope Flores stays with the team next year, AND he gets what he wants in the offseason for the defense. X’s and O’s, and Jimmies and Joe’s as the old saying goes.
I realize all the QB talk is great drama, but draft a player like Parsons and see what that does for the team’s success.
The defense has been a weak link (along with the O-line and the running game) for some time now. KAM missed wide right by NOT selecting Kyle Hamilton, and taking Cine instead. Hamilton is a Parsons type of defensive impact player. I agree we need to get some bad asses on defense, for Flores to exploit.
