Vikings Discussion and Random Thoughts
I see the Dolphins have decided to further decimate their roster make some more changes to their roster, as they announced yesterday that Jalen Ramsey is available for trade. They just extended Ramsey a year or so ago, IIRC, so this is a bit perplexing. Ramsey is still one of the better CBs in the league, so I’m guessing there will be interest. I’m predicting that maybe the Rams or Lions will be in the running to sign the star CB. Looking at his contract, the acquiring team won’t owe him a ton in 2025, but will pick up some big cap hits in 2026 and 2027.
It annoys me that we spell Wednesday the way that we spell it.

Vikings News
Even with Harrison Smith back, the Vikings need to address the safety position, according to the Star-Tribune.
On LunchBreak at Vikings.com, Kevin O’Connell talks about faith-building throws made by J.J. McCarthy.
NewsCenterMaine thinks that Jalen Ramsey is a fit with the Vikings. This does sound intriguing, the thought of having Murphy and Ramsey at corner gets me a bit excited. Not sure what kind of draft capital the Vikings have to give, or what the Dolphins will expect to get, but it’s an interesting conversation.
NFL News
From the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, former Steeler Ryan Clark doesn’t hold back about his feelings regarding Aaron Rodgers ‘holding the Steelers hostage’. It’s a business, brah. Stop chasing drama queens.
At CBS Sports, they talk about why this year’s QB class will be a bust.
CBS Sports also looks at potential landing spots for Jalen Ramsey.
Ravens GM Erik DeCosta said in reference to TE Mark Andrews, ‘you never know what’s going to happen’, per NFL.com. Yikes, that isn’t very encouraging.
Cowboys LT Tyron Smith has announced his retirement after 14 NFL seasons, per NFL.com.

New thread for you, I’m updating it.

At this point, based on the relative inaction of the Vikings regarding bringing in another QB to either compete with, or back up McCarthy, it appears they are good with Rypien as QB2.
We all assume after the draft they will bring in another QB as a camp arm and maybe a practice squad guy. I find it a little interesting that neither Sam Darnold, nor Daniel Jones wanted to remain with the Vikings as a backup QB to McCarthy.
If you had the year Sam had last year, would you have wanted to stay here as a backup?
Well, the interesting part is, he had a great year, and yet he was looking at being a backup.
Darnold got PAIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Jones wants to start.
nothing to worry about here, NLNVF!!
Actually my point was KOC clearly has a high opinion of McCarthy if those guys already figured out they weren’t gonna start this year.
I am 99.99% confident that the Vikings will sign another QB2 to the roster before training camp. Whether that QB wins the #2 job is a different question.
The draft starts a week from today, and I have just one question…
Freezey, has KAM contacted you yet for advice?
i got a couple calls from an unknown number…..

Mornin, and SKOL JV!
Sunshine came softly through my window today (Donovan).
Good morning. Down in Trump country.
Could’ve tripped out easy, but I’ve-a changed my way
Good morning JR.
My wife’s back is sore as she has resumed weight training for some reason with one of her girlfriends who is a former competitive bodybuilder too. They both stopped lifting about 4 years ago, and now they have decided to start up again. She is staying home today from the gym nursing her back.
I told her that’s why I don’t work out anymore… you can’t pull flab.
Minnesota Vikings and fans, you are welcome. I just put together a draft that Kwesi could only DREAM about. solidifying every spot we need with only QUALITY DAY ONE STARTERS…..
oh and i got a next years round 2, YOU’RE WELCOME
Fail.
No seventh rounders.
that’s because i only wanted to draft every player that can play DAY ONE
Grant reminds me of Gant, which reminds me that Hrbeck pulled Gant.
Read the homeschooling discussion below….personally I have never been a big fan of it but to each their own. I probably would have a different opinion if the public schools in my area sucked, but they don’t. I have never quite understood the rationale behind homeschooling…perhaps someone can enlighten me?
Schools are run by the government and the government is corrupt. Public schools have become indoctrination centers. Also, I think the video I posted below says there are studies that show you can teach your kid at home as much in 2 hours as it takes a public school to do in 8 hours, plus you have the benefit of being able to tailor the lessons to your child’s interests.
All true. Plus you have the added benefit of no bullying, etc. But the lack of socialization and getting along with others is a negative.
That said, I don’t know how people have the time. Do they work from home – part time homeschooling, and part time work? Is that their full time job? I don’t know how we would/could do it having outside of home jobs.
Imagine the awkward conversation with your parents about that fucking teacher you hate.
LOL!
That made me literally LOL
You’ll get a kick out of this – NSFW
LMFAO!! 😂😂😂😭😭😭😭
Would you want your kids to have drag queens reading stories about Heather has 2 mommies?
Hey, quit giving away my homeschooling plans!
Now I have to take this dress back. Thanks a lot.
Please no 😆
speaking for my wife and i, but who better to raise and teach your children then their mother.
sending our kids off to school for 8 hours while other people teach them wasn’t something we wanted to do. i feel bad for the neighbor kids getting on the bus at 8am and getting off the bus at 4pm all while someone else has complete control of them.
no thanks. not for us.
Exactly.
Unfortunately, I think a majority of kids are better off being taught by someone other than their parents. I’m not saying public school is the right answer, either. But I don’t have kids of my own so I have no skin in the game other than to say “kids these days!”
why would kids be better off being taught by someone other than their parents?
Have you met most people?
That would be pretty hard. There are about 8 billion people on earth, so to have met most people would mean that you have met 4,000,000,001 people. It seems like that would take a really long time.
And they all suck at teaching.
Haha! Your jokes are on fire today!
Especially when you consider that you’re talking to a man who uses three days to change a car battery.
Todays parents are pretty clueless.
We’ve had relatives ask us if they could have their kids live with us. They were joking not joking.
Im pretty amazed at what kids are allowed to do these days. Our kids would never get away with what kids do today.
Agreed
Just want to be their kids’ friend.
Probably
One comment about that too – don’t you actually have to learn all the stuff to be able to teach it? Or do you mostly give reading assignments and hope the book does a good enough job on each subject? There is some higher level math shit that would take me a good bit of re-learning again to be able to teach it. Same for some historical events, etc.
the curriculum provided in todays world is crazy. there are SO many options and they literally help you teach the lesson.
as for the math stuff, there are homeschool co-ops and groups that actually have specified classes you can sign up for, for some of those higher level subjects.
Guessing location can make a difference, as NoDak mentioned. Education proficiency, nation or state wide is not climbing at all. Reading and math proficiency seems to be getting worse. What are we heading towards, handing out social degrees? My kids full grown thank God. Think more youth should entertain a trade from a vocational school.
Have you been out fishing this spring yet?
No, hoping some crappies soon. They have that magical 50 degree water standard.
I’m hoping to get out Sunday after we get back from Rapid City. We did get out last weekend for an hour or so, caught a little walleye.
Crappies are heat sensitive but if you can find them shallow just a bobber and minnow all that is needed. Fished lots of ways but something about watching a bobber go under.
This^^^is the type of thing that most parents won’t (can’t) figure out and why I would not want them to teach their own kids. Don’t take me down the “then don’t have kids” rabbit hole.
So yes, if your schools are shitty I would understand.
But if they are teaching the wrong things its your job to get involved at the school board level.
‘Heather has two mommies” should never be taught – but if people sit around and don’t do anything about it then it’s going to be taught.
I think schools are very important for socialization of your child…..
I think it’s up to parents to teach their children morales and right from wrong, but that can be done at home while still sending your child to school.
From a Christian perspective I would rather raise up a strong Christian child confident in his/her faith and send them off into the secular school to be a light….but that’s just me…and like I said, our schools didn’t suck. If I lived somewhere else I may have a different opinion.
We are pretty fortunate in North Dakota.
“socialization” is a complete fallacy in terms of homeschool kids not having any of it.
there are so many co-ops and groups, not to mention sports, extracurricular activities, church, neighbors, one thing my kids do not lack, is social activities outside of the realm of homeschooling
your perspective that a kid can’t be raised to be strong/confident in her/her own faith WITHOUT going to public school is where we differ.
It’s also up to parents to teach the basics
-speak softly and carry a high-powered semi-automatic rifle
-don’t eat yellow snow
-strike first, strike hard, and continue striking until the threat is neutralized
There are some others, but those are the main things.
I generally agree with your take.
I think rural areas and public schools tend be ok.
We sent our kids to public school.
Larger city schools?
Depends on the school board.
Basically, our schools are run modeled after the Prussian school system from long ago. Prioritizing “good citizens” vs critical thinking.
Here is what AI has to say about it
We home schooled for a few years, since elementary schools in our area were overcrowded, kids are asshats, and most parents are not involved. One of our kids was also bullied, and nothing ever changed.
By middle school, our kids went back to public schools, but by then I had taught them to question everything. Especially me.
some of these players on the twins active roster….WOW they bad
How many hometown hero’s are on your fantasy team?
I wonder how anyone can go to a twins game lately.
Team is shit.
Concessions are ridiculously priced.
Manager is shit.
Parking is expensive and taking the train is an adventure.
Did I mention the team is shit?
Even if I got free tickets, I think I would rather pay to see a Saints game instead.
i went on saturday (free tickets) and it was great, beautiful weather but the team played like crap.
if we have a bad team, all the better for me to get cheap tickets to take the kids. that’s about all there is to be happy about with this crappy product
I can’t wait until the Braves come to town again.
I think they’ll be there next year, the twins play in Atlanta this year
If they bail out the hedge funds, I’m going to be pissed
They’re the ones driving the market.
Straight into the ground.
UK Supreme court ruled today that a woman is a person born as a woman, and those identifying as women do not have the same rights as those born a woman
Damn! There goes my plans for the weekend.
You paddle your kayak all the way to Liverpool?
its insane we live in a world that the supreme court has to rule on something SO STUPID
No shit. I feel like I’m living in a cartoon.
Seriously. Thankfully the Brits ruled properly though. They’ve been off quite often lately.
Well our last Supreme Court Judge couldn’t describe the difference between a man and a women during her confirmation hearing.
And sadly there was this:

Not to start a fight about KC again, but I find it interesting that the viewpoint on Rodgers up top is “It’s a business, brah” but then we can hate KC for his big contracts and chasing big contracts. Seems very contradictory, does it not?
Rodgers is like 65 and has won in his career so it’s not the same.
I don’t think he’s holding out for more money either, just wants to decide where he wants to play or if he wants to play.
He might be smoking crack in the shed, too, Who knows?
Those darkness retreats take time. Maybe he’s combining the darkness with the hyahuasca this time.
We took mescaline one time, then broke open chem lights and splattered them all over the room. It took a while to clean that up the next day.
I thought mescaline is something you are and it’s toxic according to the left?
It’s a derivative of peyote.
Waiting for DMT to be more commonly used by therapists. I would love to see the mechanical elves people talk about.
I’m very much in support of anything that helps people. They’re having a great deal of success with psilocybin, especially with treating untreatable depression. If something helps a person be a better version of themselves, I have no issue with it.
I’ve done a lot of reading/research on the subject, I’ve found that most people were against these things are people who have very little knowledge about it.
I’m pretty curious myself.
@yeah that sounds awesome@
Haha, this is a funny comment. REC
Correct.
He has been to the big games and won the biggest.
Still dislike The Douche because of his personality.
Kirk just has some empty shelf that he built for that very purpose.
Rodgers has also had the huge benefit of the refs on his side for 15 years and rarely calling egregious holds on his team, calling hundreds of questionable PI’s for his receivers on 3rd downs, etc. I don’t think Kirk got much of that stuff.
No doubt the refs played a big role for Rodgers.
Kirk couldn’t improvise as the play unfolded.
Rodgers could.
True – granted, Rodgers could run around in the backfield for 10 seconds because his line would hold everyone the whole time, but his ability to make plays with that time and actually run/move around was what sets him apart.
I hate them both.
Rodgers is the much better QB, but he is a douche.
Kirko is probably a great human. Just not as good at the QB thing.
Add in the fact that Kirk publicly says it’s not about the money, when we all know it is always about the money.
That fact alone shows me Kirko is a fake.
Which is why the “business as usual” line creates a debate with Kirko.
I’m talking about the fact that people complaining about Kirk’s contract and not willing to take less or have less guaranteed money, or no no-trade clause, don’t have a problem with Rodgers playing the business game.
Who cares what he is saying in the press? Here’s a newsflash – everybody in those positions (coaches and GM’s included), lie or disguise the truth constantly for various reasons.
Everybody knows that everybody wants the most money and control over their own contract, no matter what they say.
A little nuance – two things can be true at the same time.
You are the one calling it contradictory.
Kirko is contradicting himself.
I’m not going to give him a pass because “everybody” does it.
Just my take.
He wasn’t worth top 5 money year in and year out.
Going to the Timberwolves game next Friday. Booked our room and bought tickets.
Kiddo will be happy, gets out of school that day.
They had better not give me any shit about it, I’m really close to homeschooling already.
if you need some homeschooling advice, we’ve been at it for 4 years now and have not regretted it.
We’ve been at it for over 20 years, must be doing something wrong, when is that kid going to graduate?
I will definitely reach out. If it were up to only me, we’d have started already.
definitely something you want your wife on board with too…
i know a few families where the wife hates homeschooling but the husband has pretty much mandated it….i can’t imagine how fun that marriage is….
She’s more of the type to follow the crowd, I like to blaze my own trails.
Ya, definitely want to have consensus prior to proceeding. One of the few things I learned in the corporate world that made sense.
Love this, except I LOVE Algebra. I actually love calculus, applied calculus was one of my favorite classes.
I can hear an echo of Kodiak or Five…beta…
Something something pedestal.
How do you have the time to homeschool? Is that essentially your primary job, then?
The guy who can’t change a car battery is giving homeschooling advice?
Hey, he can change a car battery!
it just takes him three days.
As MT said.
Homeschooling creates weirdos.
Home school kids end up being weirdos (psst don’t tell Freezey)
I’m a weirdo, and I wasn’t homeschooled
Well…me, too….but I would have been even weirder.
I remember in first grade, I had an obsession with matchbox cars (did I mention I own like 7 vehicles plus 2 tractors 2 side by sides etc) – had a show and tell thing at school and a classmate had left his matchbox car in the sandbox at recess…I felt that possession was 9/10 of the law. Believe me having to apologize to the kid in person, plus the teacher, plus speak in front of the whole class after my parents found that car in the pocket of my pants…my future as a career criminal ended that day. If homeschooled well I’d be a regular bank robber cooling my heels in the federal penitentiary.
So if you were home schooled and your parents found that car in your pocket, they would have just let it slide, allowing you to begin your life of crime?
Hey MT, I wasn’t on here yesterday afternoon, so I didn’t see your post about tuck until this morning. I’m sorry for bringing it up today, but felt the need to tell you that I also had to deal with a dog loss recently. Our beloved German Shepard, Sadie, had to be euthanized on march 28th. She was just over 11 years old and the sweetest most loyal dog I’ve ever had. The last month of her life was not good as she started losing the ability to walk and started to get aggressive when we tried to pet her. Between Sadie and my last Shepard, Sasha, I’ve had a German Shepard by my side for the last 25 years. It is so wierd not having one around now. I to buried her on my property, where the sun shines down all afternoon on her.
Thank you for sharing. Thank goodness I still have Bubba who is starting to perk up now. Of course I keenly feel Tuck’s absence on our morning walks where he was always leading the way and then stopping and sitting at the places where I traditionally tossed a ball for him to fetch. The sadness will slowly pass.
I’ve been guilty of holding on too long in the past with our dogs when they were clearly in pain but I felt it just wasn’t time yet. Like I said, I wanted to question myself whether a ruptured craniocruciate ligament qualified as a terminal event, but as I thought about it all night I knew that with the concomitant problems he was having that it was time to help him cross the bridge.
Sorry to hear about Tuck. That’s rough. I still miss my last yellow and it’s been 3 years. That was a tough decision, but I finally realized the dog I was holding onto wasn’t the dog that was there anymore. We were lucky and got a whole summer of a lot of camping with her after the vet said we had a couple weeks. My office just got really dusty all of a sudden.
Thanks bow. Yeah he would wind figure 8’s around my legs while I put on a coat to go for a walk. Funny how used to that I got, and how quickly you notice when it’s gone. Bubba prefers to wait until I am bent over tying my boots and then lay a big smooch on my mouth or bonk me in the chin with his hard head.
Yes MT, i am also sorry to hear and read about that. I read it at like 11pm so i figured if i responded there it wouldn’t be read at all.
sorry buddy.
Thanks freezey. Like I said, you guys are my virtual buds.
I can’t say more for confidentiality reasons but we had an exam on a home schooler recently and let’s just say that gif kinda captures the essence.
An individualist who doesn’t follow the crowd. He’ll probably take over for Elon when he grows up…
Growing up doesn’t sound like much fun, to be honest.
I wouldn’t know. 😁
Me either. I hope I never find out.
1 person does not equate over a large group.
If the Wolves would knock out LeBron, I would almost treat that as a championship.
If a team can’t stop a 40 year old man on a basketball court…
I think he is only 38 in steroid years.
With the temper and toughness of a 16 year old.
FTFY
With the temper and toughness of a 16 year old girl.
I was as unstoppable at 40 as I was at 20.
Me too
OK… I didn’t mean to offend you, but when you were 23, I bet no 40 year old beat you on a basketball court.
What I meant was I was never unstoppable. I had some moves, but I’m in no way an elite athlete.
there aren’t many 40 year olds like Lebron, in fact, i’d venture to say there are NO 40 year olds like lebron.
I don’t know, I’ve met a lot of dumb 40 year olds.
athletic-wise….
Great comeback
It’s not so much stopping the 40 year old. It is how do you handle the benefits, said 40 year old will receive from the people in the striped shirts.
Won’t happen, unfortunately, but would be cool.
He’s got a playing partner that can bring it.
Exactly. Just one of several reasons the Tpups won’t win.
Boom! Lets gooo
We are in section 201
Staying at the Minneapolis downtown Marriott. They have a candy store across the street that has really good popcorn. Also, Oceanaire is a block away, really good seafood, they have it flown in daily.
I see a ticket listed there for $170
That’s about what I paid. Thought about springing for better seats, but there are three of us. I don’t really feel like spending two grand on tickets.
Gotta save some money for hookers and blow, you know.
The best family experience money can buy lol
^^This^^
And you are worried about the hedgefunds?
1st world problems I guess.
Pinewood derby races for my son’s church group tonight.
I didn’t go full engineer mode on the cars but I did apply a few of the common upgrades.
Those are awesome
Thanks. My wife is the designer/ decorator, I’m just the builder.
When is/was race?
Tonight
we expect updates
You should strap an Acme rocket to the Wile E Coyote.
I considered a CO2 cartridge but couldn’t figure out a way to set it off.
Brings back memories. I won way back in 1972 using powdered graphite vs oil for the axel lubricant.
Same strategery helped my son win in 6th grade, although nowadays most people are using graphite.
I helped my son make his derby racer when he was 9 years old (1986). I insisted he do the work himself. He actually did a pretty good job. We used graphite lubricant too. He finished in 3rd place.
Graphite is pretty universally used now.
With Google/ YouTube there aren’t many tricks left that aren’t given to everybody on a silver platter. Just a matter of whether you want to put forth the effort and $$$ to win now.
My son still has that car on his desk.
Yeah, my Son kept his as well. he also did all the work himself. Not as fancy as Derby’s kids but it went fast.
How did you carve the detailing on the back ends of the cars?
I went to the wood shop at the high school in Savage and used the band saw to get the rough shape, then sanded it smooth where needed.
Well color me impressed.
Do you live in Richland County?
I don’t, but that’s where my parents farm is at and where I grew up. So I’ve got connections there.
I was gonna say, I thought you were in Dawson like MT.
Yeah I often wish I still had access to the shop at my HS in Wainwright. They had a lot of sweet equipment in there. I’m sure DCHS does as well, but since I am not an alum they’d probably frown on me walking in at 6:30 in the morning to use the jointer planer.
Just tell them you are interested in mentoring the teenage girls. They’ll let you right in.
Trust me.
How old is he? I have a little Chinese four wheeler that I can’t get to run. If you make it over to Billings, I’ll give it to you. You are a tad more mechanically inclined than me. I replaced all the wiring, carburetor, spark plug, etc. It ran once, at full rev, after replacing the wiring harness. After fixing the wiring that the little West Taiwanese dudes f’ed up I was able to get it to start but it would only idle (when you hit the kill switch, the headlights came on with the original wiring setup). It does have a sweet paint job on it though. I can’t find a picture, but I painted it purple with white and yellow stripes.
He’s 6. He gets to drive to four wheelers (with an adult) at the farm.
Just humor me and let me know he wears a helmet.
Helmets are for woosies.
My dog(s) before we go hunting.
.
Excellent!
Laughing so hard. Nice MT!
You put on a helmet with a Bruins logo?
Psssst, I rode my bicycle without a helmet the other day.
They’re kinda hard to tip with training wheels on though aren’t they?
Whew, Gone Fishin getting into it with the KDS squad after working hours last night I see. Fun stuff. Appropriate downvotes and upvotes have been applied. Proceed with your Wednesday.
Like most things in life that aren ‘t quite black and white, there’s two, if not more, sides to a story.
So if you read something that is in disagreement with your perspective on an issue, you down vote it.
Now I don’t agree with either extreme on this issue, but do appreciate everyone’s perspective. Makes for a nice discussion and sometimes an opportunity to rethink and and broaden one’s knowledge base.
I am not rational at all about my Kirko hatred. It is purely anecdotal and related to the fact that I paid for two games in 2018, and they happened to be his worst two games as a Viking.
I had more enjoyment paying to see Ponder, Teddy, Culpepper, Brad Johnson, Randal Cunningham, Rich Gannon, Wade Wilson, Tommy Kramer, and on and on.
So, Kirk is the worst ever in my mind, since he absolutely sucked both times I saw him play in person. He was worse in those two games than any other QB I have ever seen live.
Laughing… you obviously never saw me play QB Surly. Grin.
That is completely honest though.
I have fond memories of Ponder. He wasn’t good, and we should not have drafted him that high, and if he threw an out route, it had DBs salivating for the interception, but still…he was good looking, I guess…
It’s a free world and everyone can feel as they wish no matter the quality of reasoning behind it.
Now, I went to a game once – it was in 2016 and the Packers came to play the Skins. It was cold with wind gust of 35 MPH. at one end of the field you couldn’t even kick extra points. Yet, Cousins/Rogers put on the best display of quarterbackiing I have ever seen. Both were great, especially under the circumstances.
But I don’t think Kirk was a great QB. But I guess if I had seen “two” games like that (as you did), things might be different.
HEY!!!! I was at that game too JR! Took my wife, and we went into the bar at halftime (club seats) and we really watched most of the second half indoors.
That is understandable, though based on more emotions than facts obviously.
Yep. I can admit that. My feelings got hurt, so Kirko is bad.
$800 + food / beer/ Parking. Have not been back since 2018.
Going to two games this year. I am pretty sure JJ will look better than Kirk did vs Buffalo and Chicago.
On a happy note, I got to see Josh Allen leap over Barr and start his ascent to becoming a very good QB.
But Allen hasn’t won a SB so therefore he sucks and should be banished from the league.
Obviously.
They had their chance while he was on his rookie deal. Now it is more difficult.
Some people have playoff success as the bar, some people view SB wins as the bar for being good. I simple chose the latter for my judgement of who is good, for argument sake. Just as valid.
Yes, I started souring on KC when we got obliterated by the Cowboys. My kids got me the tickets for Christmas and I felt bad that they spent their hard earned money on that game.
Yeah, that sucks. It is understandable to have some resentment for that.
The thing for me is I hated his signing right away, didn’t think he was a very good QB and didn’t think he would get us over the hump, so to speak, but his play and composure impressed me in many games. But he definitively did have some stinkers.
So why don’t you hate Barr?
He broke Rodgers’s collarbone so he will always be a legend.
I do. Barr was very overpaid his last season or three.
I agree. He never lived up to the hype IMO.
I don’t think I’ve ever downvoted anything. I also never flagged any comments over at the DN. Some people flagged a LOT of comments. I even accumulated a few flags, I feel like I have street cred now.
I think fivefingers had over 300 flags, pretty sure that’s a record.
Haha, that guy was unhinged. Somewhat funny, but more annoying to me than anything.
I like five, he just wasn’t able to interact with others without driving them away. He didn’t bother me, but with running a site, it isn’t about me.
300 flags is legendary, I gotta give him credit for that.
Isn’t that akin to saying that Hitler was an effective mass murderer? (Okay, that was overboard but you get the gist.)
I mean, he was though.
Now praising him for it would be weird.
That’s my (overblown) point: he was so much of an asshole, I wouldn’t give him credit for anything.
I think you can beat him. Here, I’ll get you started.
Now I thought there was a good discussion and while I didn’t agree fully with some of your positions, I certainly would not down vote them because they didn’t agree with mine. Moreover, I didn’t agree fully with NLV’s position either, and didn’t down vote those either.
If two partners agree on everything, every time, one is not necessary.
Disagreeing without being disagreeable is called being an adult.
You and I are comfortable with disagreeing, and we understand any disagreement is not personal in any way, shape or form.
I have no issue with somebody who disagrees with me. I have Democrat, friends, Republican friends, and everywhere in between. I could probably even talk to a vegetarian if I had to.
Me too. Don’t know your age, but I didn’t realize until I was in my mid forties if I actually “listened” to things that people said that were not in line of thinking, I could actually broaden my thinking
I’m 51. I also grew up in a small town and learned to get along with everyone. My time in the military also helped. I’ve traveled the entire country, met all sorts of different people. I’ve lived a pretty well rounded life.
You are more gracious than I am. I draw the line at vegetarian.
Not me their breath smells like onions.
You know how your mouth waters when you grill a steak? Do vegetarians get a similar reaction when they mow their lawn?
Big street cred. Five got under my skin enough I flagged him…before he was banned lol
I understand those, but there were a lot of frivolous flags that I read through. Some were justified, some were downright stupid.
I can only imagine some of the stuff you had to deal with. Thanks for dealing with all the crap to provide a good site to share stories, thoughts, and differing opinions. Really is a good virtual hang-out place.
Thanks, I’ve always enjoyed it, going back to my days at the DN. The SB Nation overlords became insufferable.
Haha yeah, I got put on administrative approval for stating some facts about covid stuff (not breaking the rules at all, mind you) that the admins didn’t like. They could not refute what I was saying and proving, and so they (like most of the left), moved to censorship and then wouldn’t release censorship (comment approval needed) even months later.
I’m not shocked. The day they banned Pete and freezey for using the word pansy was the beginning of the end for me. I caused a pretty big kerfuffle with them, and quit shortly thereafter.
I love Chris & the Daily Norseman, I have no use for Vox/SB Nation.
I flagged him again just now.
Let me guess, Gone Fishin said something along the lines of Kwirk being mediocre and two people said that he is the greatest QB ever and the only reason he never won anything is because he is the most unlucky QB in the history of the NFL and all the teams he was on were really bad (even though one of them went to the NFCCG the year before he joined, but I’m guessing that’s not the same thing because something, something, coaches, something, everybody else failed)?
Appears in an effort to support FKey, you guessed wrong. Believe NLV and JRo were saying Cousins was better than average. There was no mention of “greatest” but using the term does present an easy strawman to argue against.
This is the case, and I’d simply point out GF didn’t go off the rails, and no one else did either. The conversation was adult, impersonal, and civil.
Civil? No place for that here!
Laughing. Surly, you are a hoot!
Yeah, I never once said he was great or greatest, just “better than average”, which some people wanted to vehemently disagree with, though the facts of statistics would back up my opinion. Some people equate playoff success with quality of QB, which is fine, but then when I equate SB wins to QB quality, I get crucified as using “strawman” arguments. The KC haters seem to base their opinions mostly on emotions, not facts of actual play quality and never give KC credit for his great games and setting records for his receivers, all behind mostly shit quality interior O-lines.
I think the O-lines were better than they are given credit and he was propped up by having some of the greatest WRs to throw to but when it came down to crunch time, he wilted. He was above average. I’d say he was well above average between the ears, pre-play. The problem was post snap.
Reasonable opinion and assessment. He was not particularly good at improvising, especially comparing to the Mahomes and Allens of the world. But he is very accurate, particularly with the deep ball, and he made some great throws while under immense pressure or getting hit. That being said, he did fumble a lot, partially due to getting hit so much.
I think he was better than most people on here think, given the stuff he had to work with (new OC’s and stuff like NLNVF said, pretty bad o-line – I think I saw somewhere ranked 22 or worse most years he was here, and the O-line crumbled under pressure way more often than not, Zim was a bad offensive coach IMO, etc. etc.).
I referred to Rodgers as “she” one time, someone flagged it as misogynistic, wrote 3 friggin paragraphs complaining about it. I’m like “it was just a joke, man”.
Between the draftees and UDFAs, how many roster spots do we really have open?
I know it’s good to acquire lots of talent no matter what and let the chips fall where they may with who makes the roster, but a lot of vets are locks really.
With our luck with UDFA, do we need to garner more picks?
I don’t really see many spots where a rookie has any real chance of a lot of playing time barring injury. Maybe LG or CB? TE is the other one I’ve gotten stuck on. A WR would be good since Addison may still be suspended.
i know most, if not ALL, of you woke up remembering that my daughter had a big presentation yesterday and were wondering how it went…
and…
she kicked BUTT. she did so good. she was confident and it went smooth and i am a VERY proud dad.
Yay! You’re also a very good dad.
Nice!
Freezey at the presentation:
He has earned a weekend at the lake house.
i’d consider myself an apostle of ron swanson
Awesome to hear, amigo.
Good job to your daughter, and be as proud as you want.
My daughter had to do a March Madness type debate thing in high school. The students went head to head debating a person from history. It went on for a week or two, she got Hitler as her person to debate for. She made it to the championship debate, but had suffered a concussion from a line drive to the temple in softball, the day or two before the final debate. She said her head was really foggy and had a really bad migraine headache when doing the final debate, or she would have won it.
Awesome! Good for her!
I knew she would do well with a role model like this…
Mock draft! I got lots of bodies in this one, but the most important pick is Freezy’s RB of choice. That is now the main goal of my mock drafts. Everything else is filler.
Watts at #42 is a good selection. Pretty highly rated safety by draft “experts”. Pulling a “Rick” and garnering 11 picks is pretty impressive though.
I Rick Speilman’ed it up.
How far down do the Michigan and LSU TE’s get in these mocks typically? I think TE is a spot that needs to be addressed in this draft and if one of those guys were to fall to 24, take him. Have a stud duo in 2025 and you can trade Hock next year.
I will check on my next mock draft.
i can’t WAIT for Brashard Smith to be the biggest bust in this years draft since i have a crush on him
I got a good feeling about him. Had zero idea he even existed until you mentioned him, but that makes him the only college player I now recognize, so I am going all in.
As you should.
I watched his highlights and he looks fun. WHY NOT!!
RIP
