Hump day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vikings hump day discussion
Welcome to the Skolasylum
Happy birthday, Mrs. Fishin’!

Hey, a special happy birthday to my wife today. She’s been married to me for over 14 years now, and she still manages to stay mostly sane and she’s somehow still alive and well. I’m guessing she’s a lock to make sainthood some day. Happy birthday, many more to come! I got her a present, but she might read this, so I’m not telling you what I got. I’ll share a picture tomorrow.

Happy birthday

It’s also Packers week! I hate the Packers with a burning passion, a win on Sunday will make me forget all the offensive headaches the Vikings have had all year. It’s a noon kickoff on Sunday, let’s hope the Vikings can continue the success they’ve have in Lambeau in recent years.

Vikings and NFL News

Vikings.com looks at where the Vikings sit in the playoff picture as we head into week 12, and they also look at how far the Vikings slid in the power rankings after Sunday’s loss.

C.J. Stroud will miss his third straight game with a concussion, Davis Mills will be under center for the Texans, per NFL.com.

From ESPN, Aaron Rodgers will NOT need surgery and his status is TBD, according to Mike Tomlin.

CBS Sports looks at a GM who may be on the hot seat. Hint: it’s the same GM who signed a former Vikings QB to a high-priced contract in free agency a year or two ago.

Media Selection

I’ve played this many times going way back to the DN days, and it’s still one of my favorite funny videos of all time. This dude went back to the store for just ONE MORE 12 pack, he really needed a couple more beers.

Watching this makes me grateful that there weren’t video cameras everywhere back when I was young, wild, and crazy.

Enjoy!

Cue the “Flacco to Minnesota” rumors.

Flacco opened this year as the No. 1 quarterback in Cleveland and he hopes that he’ll have the chance to do the same next September.

“Hopefully it reinforces it in somebody’s mind that I can do it,” Flacco said, via Ben Baby of ESPN.com. “I do still want to do it. I still feel like I can do it. This obviously does help with the confidence of being able to do it and all that stuff. I would like an opportunity, but you just never know.”

A federal grand jury in Miami indicted Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, D-FL, and several co-defendants with stealing federal disaster funds, laundering the proceeds, and using the money to support her 2021 congressional campaign.

Court records say that Cherfilus-McCormick, 46, and her brother Edwin Cherfilus, 51, both of Miramar, worked through their family health-care company on a FEMA-funded COVID-19 vaccination staffing contract in 2021. In July 2021, the company received an overpayment of $5 million in FEMA funds.

This woman and her brother need to go to jail.

So what do you think of Democrat Lawmakers encouraging service member to refuse the Trump Admins orders. They contend that those are Illegal Orders and the UCMJ allows/demands that those be refused.
Personally I think that would be a great way to identify woke members of the military and process them out. TDS is a mental illness and should be a disqualification for service. We have people lined up to join currently so no reason to keep the woke in uniform.

There are allowances for disobeying orders if they are unlawful, unethical, or immoral. However, you cannot disobey an order because you disagree with its premise. That is punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) Article 92. Article 94 also covers mutiny and sedition, and that could apply too.

If you are ordered to shoot unarmed civilians for political reason you could refuse based on ‘illegal orders’.
If you choose to disobey an order cause you think Illegal Aliens should be allowed to stay in the US because they are ‘neighbors’ then not so much.

The use of lethal force is strictly controlled under the UCMJ. No military member is going to ever shoot anyone unless they are protecting themselves or others from bodily harm. The premise of this concern is completely and utterly baseless, unfounded, and inane.

One of the Congressmen, a Vet, explained they they were ‘just explaining to the troops about the requirements under the UCMJ’. When asked what orders or laws they were referring to he referenced DJT comments about ‘going to war’ with Blue City Governments’. So the Fox commentator said ‘so no specific order or law, just comments?’.

He went on to accuse her of ‘demeaning our troops’ because they would understand that it was just a reminder. He sounded like an idiot with Stage 4 TDS.

Purposefully attempting to undermine the good order and disciple of the military, via sedition could land you in jail. 18 USC Ch. 115: Treason, Sedition, and Subversive Activities could be used top prosecute anyone who encourages the U.S. Military members to violate their oath of service.

I know it is not Tuesday, but I am honestly curious about what happens to Kirko the rest of this season and into next.

I expect him to look better than Penix has. I also expect Penix to not be back until October at the earliest. ATL needs a QB, and if they keep Kirko on the roster at the start of the season, his contract will be fully guaranteed. Getting that 190 mil vs only the paltry 100 mil….

They’re missing their starting Left Guard, and Left Tackle (on IR) and two other O-linemen on IR, plus the replacement LG is questionable. London is injured and is probably out a few weeks too, so yeah, gonna be tough. That said, Cousins won’t use any of that as an excuse. He will go out and lead the offense, and try to make plays. That type of leadership is what the Falcons offense and team overall needs. Someone who stands up and faces adversity.

The defense has a ton of injuries and guys out too. This is a team in very bad shape, physically.

I think it’s too big a hill to climb at this point, but I hope Cousins can find a way to play well.

Not sure I see the same thing. Cupboard is exactly bare in ATL:

Drake London is currently top 10 in catches, yards and TD’s.

Bijan Robinson a complete 3 down back who catches well out of the backfield.

Kyle Pitts & Darnell Mooney – Maybe washed, maybe not – but have shown flashes of talent and production in the past.

Agree the coaching is dogshit – but I think there’s enough talent for Kirko to work with.

London has a knee injury, so I think he’s out. Bijan is a great back, but as we know, without a good line, he is gonna be limited. Pitts has dropped a ton of passes, and dropped a perfect throw right in his chest over the middle, with nothing but green grass ahead of him from Cousins Sunday. Mooney has also dropped a bunch of passes this year, and I read on twitter that Morris recently revealed he had broken his collar bone earlier in the year, and it was still bothering him. Why no one knew Mooney had broken his collar bone in practice is still a mystery.

Morris may be the NFL’s worst head coach, and Zac Robinson may be the NFL’s worst OC, but Cousins still has to go out there and lead the team. No excuses. Just play as hard as you can.

Trump is plain spoken, and he is direct. He doesn’t mince words. He tells it like it is. I guess from a human nature perspective, the question is how does that resonate with most people? I know there are plenty of overly sensitive types in the world that will take offense to anything they perceive as insulting or belittling, but to the vast majority of the people in the world, does this very authentic and openly assertive personality type work?

I do know that she was sent in to ask aggressive questions and get headlines. She was borderline rude and she got the response she and her network wanted.

So I researched this, as I wasn’t aware of the comment either.

Trump did say “quiet, piggy” to a female reporter during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One on November 14, 2025. The incident involved Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey, who was asking a follow-up question about the Jeffrey Epstein files—specifically, why Trump wouldn’t release them if there’s nothing incriminating. As she began speaking (“If there’s nothing incriminating in the files, sir, why not…”), Trump pointed at her and interrupted with “Quiet. Quiet, piggy” in a sing-song tone before turning to another reporter.

This moment was captured in White House-released video footage and has since gone viral, drawing widespread criticism for being unprofessional, and sexist (women can act out but if you challenge them, it’s sexist). The White House defended it by calling the reporter “unprofessional and tacky” for interrupting, but of course the backlash focused on Trump’s response and the lack of pushback from other journalists present. This particular reporter has been over the top rude to the sitting President over and over, trying I guess to make a name for herself, and likely her employer. She has interrupted the President and tried repeatedly to embarrass him and his administration in front of other world leaders. She lacks decorum, civility, professionalism, and common courtesy to the max. She asked for it, and she got it, in my opinion. She’s a total disgrace to her profession, and rude as hell.

If I went to church….. I probably would. I just know that sort of thing is frowned upon….

So as we get to a make or break point in the season, here’s my honest assessment of McCarthy thus far.

He has good arm strength and likes to throw on the move (he prefers to go to his right) and avoid sacks with natural athleticism. He isn’t very accurate when throwing on the run, but he likes to do it, a lot.

He has shown a willingness to fire the ball over the middle into tight coverage. He also has a tendency to throw the deeper ball, if he has two choices. He wants to make big plays. Get chunks of yardage. He’s definitely not a dink and dunk QB.

In the end he seems to believe it is his destiny to be a football hero, and that oozes from his persona at every turn. He’s sold on himself.

The rough start to his NFL career hasn’t dimmed his enthusiasm, or self belief. He still thinks he’s going to be the greatest QB in NFL history. He thinks he can win every game with a great play in the 4th quarter. To me, he reminds me of Russell Wilson. Wilson always believed he had that game winning throw, against all odds, in him.

It remains to be seen if KOC and McCown can corral McCarthy’s talent and actually mold him into a really good, competent NFL QB. I have my doubts, because of the Russell Wilson gene I see in him. He’s not a technician, he’s a play maker. That makes him exciting to watch, but not a very good QB.

Just my observations.

Fair assessment.
also this part makes me sad.
To me, he reminds me of Russell Wilson.

I hate Russell Wilson. I would pick Kirk over Russell Wilson. So I really hope JJ is better than that.

I am still expecting that he becomes a better technician and his skills and processing both improve with time.

I truly hope so too. He needs a little Kirk Cousins infusion, to balance out that football hero gene running wild in him. In the end though, it’s really hard to be something you’re not.

He’s young and full of enthusiasm, that’s good.
Believe he will learn and he has the best coaching to help.

Rookie QB growing pains.

It’s like watching your kids grow up – you hate seeing them struggle, but you know they have to go through it and learn from their mistakes, hoping and believing in their potential to become successful.

That’s a fair assessment. Let’s see how he looks by the end of next season. I still have hope, but then, that’s all I can do right now…

He’s 22. When I was that age, I had a serious Superman complex. I thought I could do anything. I carried that over the top self belief in me for decades. I went into battle, convinced I was always going to come home safe, convinced I would always come out on top. Even after being almost killed a dozen times. I can relate to McCarthy. I know how he thinks, and how he feels.

I have a Superman coffee cup that was given to me by my admin staff, after I worked a 20 hour day, suffered a collapsed lung, and almost died on the operating table when I was 62. The girls all came to the hospital to chide me, and gave me the cup to remind me I wasn’t Superman. So no, it didn’t go away easily for me.

How does ‘working a 20 hr day’ cause a ‘collapsed lung’??

guessing pneumonia or some kind of nasty cold, and instead of staying home he took some Dayquil and went to work.

I got pneumonia twice in the Army. Both times from going on a mandatory Battalion run when I had a chest cold.
I would often take Nightquil for a good nights sleep when I had a cold, work all day, get home feeling like crap and doing over and over again.
But the pneumonia came from the run in winter weather while I already had a cold IMHO.

I have a rare skin condition called Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome. This condition causes lesions and cysts to form on my face and scalp. In addition, these form on my internal organs. Apparently my lungs are full of them. Physical and mental stress, increased blood pressure, etc can cause these lesions to create a hole in my lung. It’s called a spontaneous pneumothorax. This causes the lung to collapse. I had been working 20 hour days for a good 6 weeks when this happened on a highly classified operation.

Ouch, glad you are good now.

I have worked similar hours before when it was needed or when I needed the distraction i.e. going thru a divorce.
My Grandmother said I had chickenpox worse than anyone she had ever seen. She worried that since I was working in prison, high stress job, I would get shingles.
Luckily it never happened. Probably because I was not bright enough to know how stressful the job was.

I am pretty sure Vikings Marketing is paying old players to shill the team on social media. A lot of their posts follow the same trains of positive thought.

And that’s fine. That’s marketing.

I mean, he is not wrong. JJ did not play well until crunch time.
It is probably a result of the defense playing the vaunted “prevent defense” and the urgency that comes with the clock running out. He probably gets out of his own way a bit.

Still clinging to hope that he becomes a very good QB for a long time for this team….

Good morning and SKOL. Read somewhere that our season is already over, and it’s time to completely scrap the team, the coaching staff, and the GM, and start building a winning unit around McCarthy.

Had to chuckle at that.
