Vikings @ Saints
It wasn’t pretty, but the Vikings managed to escape London with a win over the New Orleans Saints, and continue to sit atop the NFC North early on in this 2022 season. Even though they led most of the game, you just never really felt comfortable in this one, other than during the first drive. After that, and especially after Kirk threw an INT when it seemed like they may have had the *aints on the ropes, I never felt overly confident.
The game was exciting and also nerve wracking. The Vikings defense allowed Andy freaking Dalton to complete over 71% of his passes, and Murray was running wild when they gave him the ball. The offense moved the ball at times, but also sputtered at times, and they had a tough time getting the ball into the end zone. Cook wasn’t overly successful against the *aints defense, but he had a nice run on the final drive, and he finished the day with 76 yards on 20 carries.
For the *aints, Lutz hit a 60 yarder to tie it with just under 2 minutes remaining, then after the Vikings re-took the lead, he came back and nearly hit a 61 yarder to tie it again, but he double-doinked that one and the Vikings narrowly escaped with the win. In the past, this team manages to lose that game, so we’ll take the win. The Vikings still haven’t gotten it completely “figured out” on either side of the ball, but they are now 3-1 and they continue to sit atop the NFC North. If they can get rolling, watch out, they could make some noise. SKOL!!!!!!

Watching that game yesterday I was thinking during this Kid is going to go down as one of the best kickers ever. His first game was just like Adam Vinatieri who missed his first 3 kicks in a loss at a division rival (Buffalo). Difference is Belichick or maybe Parcells can’t remember stuck with him cemented his confidence to be one of the greatest kickers of all time.
Zimmer fired his kicker and ended up getting fired himself in part because he never had a kicking game he could rely on. Fucking old potbellied fool fuck. Hate him.

Not so much the injury but what his position is. A QB can limit his lateral cuts and forces he puts on his ankle. A safety needs to be reactive and play free. No way he can do that now unless he has sone kind of miraculous ortho surgeon who comes up with a flawless surgery plan that gets him back to normal. Sounds like to me his ankle and lower tibia shattered.

Happy Birthday! Things will get better when the baby can sleep through the night. My daughter had colic, so those early months were just a blur. Her Pediatrician said there isn’t really anything you can do for colic, but it usually goes away around 3 months old. On the very day she turned 3 months, colic was gone, slept through the night that day and after, thank goodness.

I actually spent time last night trying to figure out who the SB contenders from the NFC might be. Was trying to find a team besides Rodgers, Brady, or Eagles, all teams I don’t want to see.
We do have a favorable schedule left….five has researched it and it is the easiest schedule of all time…so you never know.

Vikings offense:
converted 7 of 32 third down attempts (6+ to go)
These are REAL problems, and will translate to losses if not fixed.

Speaking of luck, I started watching the game about 0930…got an early morning wake up call from work. Similar to watching on GamePass/NFL+ I can see the total time left on the YT TV recording tracking as I zoom through commercials. Coming down to the game winning FG by Joseph and before the kick is a commercial. I go to FF through the commercial and it jumps back to the play before, with no time left on the recording. So I became convinced that either the recording got cut off at the penultimate moment or somehow the game ended at the kick, like the kick was blocked and the Saints razzle dazzled for a minute to the EZ. Let the recording roll…FG made…NO completes a wide open 30 yard pass FFS. Another commercial, go to FF, takes me back to the play before Joseph kick. Rewatched until the Lutz kick and I could see he had the distance, thought it was going through, and I was going to miss the OT because the recording cut off. Man that was close.

Sister is much better. Last issue is worried about passing her eye test so she can drive again. She already had some kind of retina disease where she’s losing peripheral vision, so it’s a valid concern.

No. It depends on when the trade occurs sometimes (post 6/1 or pre 6/1), you can sometimes choose to spread the dead cap hit over 2 years instead of 1.
It also gets complicated with void years. Let’s take Kirk for example. If the Vikings traded him next offseason his 36.25 mil cap hit breaks down like this…
30 mil of it is salary and a roster bonus, the only ded money left is 3 years at 6.25 mil/ year for 3 years from signing bonus (2024/2025 are void years). No, the dead money is money that has already been paid to the player. The cafeteria here is amazingly good, and so cheap. Yet, reliably, the employees complain they don’t have a fancy schmancy cafeteria like the one at the main shop in the big city. I didn’t like that one, long lines, long waits, expensive, charge you for everything. Here if there’s a long line and I walk in they make all the other customers move aside so I get served first.

Finally made it out to my deer stands 4 weeks after taking cameras and some mineral salt out.
We border on one side with one of Jack Link’s (the jerky jerk) kids, who is an asshole and has been cited for many unethical hunting practices.
Brought memory cards to swap out and check to see what’s been hanging out. Next weekend is our youth hunt, and my 12-year old is looking to bag his 3rd deer.
Opened up the first camera, it was shut off. Swapped chips, turned on. Swept the spiders and acorn shells out of the stand, headed to the next stand. Opened up the camera, it was shut off too. In obvious passing downs Hunter should have his hand in the dirt and pass rushing, Smith should be moved around and pass rushing, it ain’t that complicated.
Even without blitzing, we should still be able to get to the QB at some point. They have 4 & 5 seconds back there on many plays with not even a hint of a pressure.

only 12 teams with more sacks than the Purple and Skold. I would have guessed we were worse than middle of the road. It’s odd because we really don’t seem to get aggressive and blitz much but we need pressure to help our already suspect secondary. With Smith and Hunter we should be able to get pressure with 4-5 consistently one would hope.
