I’m actually more concerned about an offensive let down TBH. Seems ripe with the ball not bouncing our way…calls against even though we’ve been disciplined etc…then defense on the field too much, hot as fuck run out of gas. Seems there’s a lot that could go wrong and Miami started hot for a reason they have some talent. We’ll see.
The offense has actually been pathetic the majority of the time against less then good teams. They and beaker have their moments where the seem unstoppable, but then they go 2 quarters looking terrible. No penalties and penalties on the other teams have made them look much better than they are. We will see, this could be another close game if our luck holds out.
much of this is true but there’s been 4 comback moments in the 4th where the offense, regardless of the level of the competition, has executed and won the game. That is not easy to do and is a reflection of a improving team.
I think what you’re saying and I agree is there’s peaks and valley’s to this situation and we’re due for some valley’s. Might be this Sunday and that would not surprise me one bit.

Beyond that, I don’t think the salary cap should stop KAM from acquiring players. Plenty of teams exploit the cap. KAM hasn’t made any big Splash moves.

So I would like an outside opinion on this. This week, one of the not good teams in one of my leagues offered the only team who is 5-0, Kupp for Pittman and Rhamondre Stevenson. I and another user vetoed that trade but no one else did. I was bitching pretty hard in the group text this morning that its a BS trade, and no where near fair. He said ESPN said that he actually lost the trade by only getting Kupp. I said bull shit, the only 5-0 team in the league just got the #1 WR for Peanuts in my mind. He just said im salty. Am I over reacting?
Sounds like there was a trade of cash or beer involved. The Rams haven’t been good this year, but Kupp is the only thing they have and is still Kupp.

i have had this issue in a certain league i play in that will not be named, where the commish veto’s trades i try to make even though the trade helps me NOW and helps the other member LATER (trading keepers for non keepers)

It depends on the situation. Saying it shouldn’t matter no matter what is assuming everything is above board and both teams are trying to win. We had a guy get his “brother” in our work league a few years ago. Somebody was talking to his brother at the end of the season and his brother didn’t know anything about the league. This is not a keeper league, and I personally know everyone in it. The guy who offered Kupp does not give a shit and is not trying to improve or win. He is 1-4 , you dont trade the best player on your team for peanuts if you are 1-4. This helps no one but the already good 5-0 team. Its team stacking at its finest. Thats a problem. Trades matter when there are teams being stacked.

Lazy Surly is waiting and cooking the ribs on Sunday. Perfect halftime feast.
Brisket > Ribs all day every day
I go in phases of which I want. The difference for me is ribs go much quicker. But also… Brisket sounds heavenly and I haven’t done one in a long time! What’s everyone’s process?
Brisket:
Mustard binder, coffee rub over night. Smoke slow at around 215/225. Wrap it at 160ish degrees. Once it reaches 200, take it off immediately into the fridge which keeps a lot of the moisture in the meat. Slice thin once cold. Sautee onions and then set the brisket slices in the pan on top of the onions and let the onions heat the brisket up so you don’t loose much moisture from cooking back up too quickly and the juice you do lose go right back onto the onions.
Double Smoked Ribs:
Day before binder and rub. Next day Smoke for 2-3 hours. Take off wrap in tin foil over night. Next day open the foil up in sort of a boat with a very lose cover over the top and poor beer into the boats. When the ribs are at about 170/180ish, add butter on top and crank the heat. I’m fairly new to smoking. For my ribs, I like the 3-2-1 method.
Heavy rib rub. Smoker at 225 degrees. Smoke uncovered for 3 hours, remove and wrap in foil, add some apple juice or apple vinegar cider, place in smoker for 2 hours, remove and unwrap, place back on the smoker for another hour or until the texture is good with a nice bark.
Have not tried a brisket, yet.
Get hand rolled and light with a wooden match or butane
so this double smoke recipe comes from a buddy who combined different concepts of the 3-2-1 with the idea of wrapping vs not wrapping trying to get the best of both worlds and so on. But yes, 3-2-1 is a good method.

Brisket: Salt n Pepper only. I have also added Garlic and Paprika in the past, but now am sold on just Salt and Pepper.
Smoke at 225 (Charcoal and Hickory in the smoker) until internal temp hits 165 or so if I am going to wrap.
I wrap using peach butcher paper since it helps retain the bark.
Once the brisket passes the poke test (Thermometer goes in like butter) and the Internal temp is at least 205, I take it off the smoker.
Either use a cooler and cover with towels to rest, or place in oven after adding foil over the butcher paper. Letting it rest for 3+ hours seems to be the key.
Ribs. I have an ugly drum type smoker, so I hang racks of ribs. Dry rub only, and baby back only for me. They take 5 hours or so in that smoker, and those are the best ribs I have ever tasted. The fat dripping onto the coals, plus the way the smoker chamber works, really does an amazing job. Got the smoker for under $200 end of year sale.
I usually make my own BBQ sauce, but Primal Kitchen makes a couple that are low carb and damned tasty.

I had their smoke vault to cut my teeth on smoking. Bought the woodwind 36. Which is a great all in 1 unit. But miss the amount of things I could do in the smoke vault because the vertical build.
Maybe I’m a weirdo but I just use my grill and make pellet packs to smoke stuff.

I originally used my grill and used wood chips either on one side or down the middle and put the meat where the heat source wasn’t so it was indirect heat. Got good results. My first smoker being a propane wood chip/chunk smoker was much more involved but I enjoyed the process. The new one has wifi/bluetooth, I can check the temp anywhere, change the grill temp anywhere, change the smoke level etc… set it forget it, get drunk lol.
Yeah someday I’ll probably get an actual smoker but for now the grill works. Is your new one electric?
Tried that. But a smoker has a lot less ventilation than a grill. You get a lot more smoke flavor with a smoker. That includes Pellet grills. A grill has more vents and the glorious smoke spends less time making the meat tastier. I am also super lazy so Pellet grills are out since they take more maintenance.
I have a (gas)grill and three smokers. The kamado(mostly used as a smoker) is the most versatile and used the most. They all are good at something, the kamado does all types of cooking very well.
I have a Car camping grill set up from them.

I make either pork or beef chili. Pork is a shredded pork butt, spicy ground pork, and Jalapeno bacon.
Beef is either Brisket or Chuck roast, or smoked stew meat.
Still add bacon though….

1 Big Ass Crockpot
Beans – kidney, pinto
1/2 lb sirloin steak – chopped
Ground beef
Italian Sausage
Chorizo
Andouille
Bacon
Tomato Paste
1 Can Tomato Sauce
Spicy Rotel – 2/3 cans
2 Chopped Jalapeños
2 Chopped Habaneros
1/2 Cup Spicy Brown Mustard
1/2 Cup Red Wine
1 Cup Old Man’s Barbecue Sauce
Garlic, Cumin, Salt, Pepper
1/2 Onion Diced – (fucking hate onions)
1 droplet Kerosene
Brown all meats
mix with rotel, paste, sauce, beans, onions, mustard, bbq, peppers
Add spices as desired – measuring cups are for the timid or the French (cheese-eating surrender monkeys)
Add water as needed for thickness
Add wine last – to your stomach, it’s for you – you worked hard making chili.
Croc Pot – Med/High for 4 hours
Stir when necessary.
Test thickness by standing spoon in chili.
Throw spoon away.
Eat with saltines.
